So as you noticed, I deleted chapter 7 so I could rewrite it. I really, REALLY did not like the whole 'Emperor is planning to make an alliance with the Dragons' thing, plus six months didn't seem like a long enough time for Rahgol to go and grow stronger in finding Word Walls and collecting the Dragon Priest masks.
I'm also gonna start adding in the dates and year just so you know where we're at in terms of the Skyrim calendar. The first chapter began on the 17th of Last Seed, which is August, the previous chapter happened on the sixth of Frostfall, which is October. This chapter begins in First Seed, which is March.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything. Skyrim belongs to Bethesda Studios.
-6th of the First Seed, 4th Era 202-
On the Throat of the World, in the courtyard of High Hrothgar, Arngeir was looking at a man who was sitting on a rock on the north side of the courtyard. Ever since he had traveled across Skyrim to learn Words of Power, something happened to him. He was quieter, and he didn't look too happy. He became increasingly powerful, but he wasn't happy with that. Arngeir didn't know what played out in his mind, but he knew that he was having a hard time.
"May Akatosh guide you, Rahgol. I hope he understands better with what you're going through…" Arngeir whispered before going back into High Hrothgar.
Meanwhile, Rahgol stood there, looking down at everything below from the courtyard of High Hrothgar, an cold expression on his face that would make even Trolls and Draugr run for the hills in fear. He was annoyed, angry, and just fed up with everything and everyone in Skyrim. People continuously expect that he has to do everything for them. From citizens, to soldiers, to even Daedra! He travelled across Skyrim and he heard people speak about him.
He was no hero, he didn't want to be a hero, nor did he ask to be Dragonborn. yet did anyone understand that? No, they did not. they just expected him to do their shit for them like he was a loyal soldier when he was nowhere near such. He hated doing things for anyone, it's why he made sure to refuse until he's given a reward in exchange. Cold and harsh as that was he was not some good little boy that let's people walk over him or do everything people ask of him with just a few tears and sad tones.
During his travels, he visited each city in Skyrim, aside from Solitude since the Imperials did try to chop his head off nearly 7 months ago. During a trip to Markath, he witnessed a woman being murdered then the killer yelling 'For the Forsworn!' Rahgol didn't want anything to do with it because he really did not care. People can come to him and beg for his help, he won't go to them like they obviously expect.
Then there was the ongoing war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperials, both sides wanted him to join but quite frankly he didn't care about the war, he could care less about the war and who wins it, both sides were just as bad as each other in Rahgol's opinion.
"The Stormcloaks go on about freedom in Skyrim..." Rahgol scoffed in disgust as a memory resurfaced. "Yet it's just the freedom of Nords..."
-23th of Frostfall, 4th Era 201-
Rahgol arrived at the city of Windhelm to buy himself some supplies. Of course he was still in his Dragonbone armour as it was effective against the bite and fire of Dragons whenever he encountered one. Rahgol paused in his steps when he heard a yelp from a child, and looked a Dunmer child getting kicked by two Nords. One had a weird helmet on, while the other was in ragged clothes.
"Hey, watch were you going Dark Elf!" One of them sneered. The girl quietly got up and was about to run away, when she was grabbed by her shoulder and held firm.
"Listen kid, you do not show a lot of respect now do you?" Rahgol saw that the girl on the verge of tears, making his blood boil in anger as the sight brought back the memory of what he suffered as a child. Suddenly he heard a woman's voice.
"Rolff, Angrenor! Leave my daughter alone!" The Dunmer woman grabbed her daughter and the girl started to cry.
"Sheliah, are you all right?" The woman asked frantically.
"Mommy, what did I do wrong?" The girl sobbed.
"Ahh, a reunion of two stinking Dark Elves." One of the Nords laughed. "You need to teach your kid how to show some respect, Suvaris." The Dunmer woman glared at the man.
"What has she ever done to you!" She yelled but the Nord slammed his fist against her abdomen. She fell to the ground, moaning in pain. Nobody, and nobody was even helping the poor woman as Sheliah was helping her mother up.
"Get out of the way kid!" One of the Nords said and kicked the child before raising his fist to do more damage when a hand clamped around it tightly, almost breaking it as the man groaned and winced in pain before they all looked to see the Dragonborn himself standing there. At this point, everyone knows who the Dragonborn is and what he wears, hard to mistake Dragonbone armour.
"That's not very nice." Rahgol growled and shoved the Nord back, looking disgusted as he stepped in between the Nords and the Dunmer woman and child. "How low Nords have sunk if they are bullying and hitting children."
"Gah!" The Nord yelled as he tried to hit Rahgol who caught the fist, brought his elbow into the Nord's nose which broke it, followed by a punch across the jaw then a kick to the stomach which sent him to the ground.
Rahgol turned to the other Nord. "If you don't want to suffer worse...I suggest you take your friend and fuck off while you can still walk." The man quickly nodded and grabbed the other man, running off as Rahgol turned to the Dunmer woman and her daughter. "Are you two-" He was cut off when he felt somethingw rap around his legs and looked down to see the Dunmer child hugging his legs while crying.
"Thank you so much!" The child sobbed. Rahgol awkwardly just patted her head, having not dealt with this kind of thing.
Suvaris smiled, on the verge of tears, and spoke. "I hate this stupid excuse of a city. We Dunmer and also the Argonians get harassed and robbed, and we are treated as filth by the Nords. Thank you again. You've made my little girl smile again." She said as her daughter let go of Rahgol and stood next to her mother.
"If this city's that bad and you get this treatment from the Nords, why not leave?" Rahgol asked with a frown.
"Our home got destroyed thanks to the eruption of Red Mountain. This was the only place we could go."
'The Stormcloaks cry that the Thalmor and the Dragons are cruel, but look at the Stormcloaks themselves. Does Ulfric even know this?' Rahgol thought to himself before he heard behind him, so he turned to see Ulfric and Galmar, with the two men Rahgol had beaten down.
"See Ulfric, he did this." Rolff said. Ulfric was surprised to see Rahgol as the last time they saw each other was Helgen, which was two months ago.
"Rhagol..." Ulfric said, clearly surprised.
"Ulfric." Rahgol nodded, but his tone didn't hold any respect of awe for the man, just coldness as always. "If you are going to punish this woman and child for being what they are...then it will be the last thing you ever do."
"Dragonborn, calm down." Ulfric said before turning to the two men."Rollf, Angrenor, apologize to them immediately. You will pay dearly if I hear that you two are harassing the Dunmer or the Argonians again." The two men grumpily apologized and walked away. Galmar decided to follow Rollf, while Ulfric walked towards Rahgol. Sheliah hugged her mom close, as if she was afraid.
"And here I thought you actually wanted Skyrim to be better than what it is, but what i just saw spoke differently." Rahgol said, arms crossed.
Ulfric sighed. "I cannot deny that this war has taken up most of my attention that I don't pay attention to what is going on within my city, but I have priorities. I will try to make it better for them." Ulfric looked at Suvaris and apologized. He looked at Rahgol again. "We are extremely cautious for Imperial spies, but this is just unacceptable… Anyway, how does your hunt go?"
"Well enough." Rahgol grunted. "Busy hunting for Word Walls, then will be looking for the Dragon Priest masks, they can give me a chance against Alduin." As he spoke of her, he wondered what she was up to. They hadn't seen each other since that night after Rahgol quit the Companions.
"Mmm, that is problematic. Then again, I don't expect anything less from a god." Ulfric said and Rahgol nodded in agreement.
"I must go. I hope you take good care of your city from now on." Rahgol said. Ulfric nodded.
"I'll try, but I cannot ignore the Thalmor and their Imperial pets." Rahgol sighed and saw Ulfric leaving before the Dragonborn turned to the Dunmet woman and child.
"Well Suvaris, Sheliah. See you around." Rahgol said.
"Thank you again. What is your name actually?" She asked.
"Rahgol."
"I will remember your kind deed." Suvaris said. Rahgol nodded and walked away.
After getting the supplies he needed, Rahgol left the city of Windhelm and walked until he was entering the woodland area. He paused when he saw a Frost Troll up ahead and was about to bring his sword out when suddenly the Frost Troll was burned to a crisp by Dragon fire.
Rahgol huffed. "That was my kill." He looked up to see none other than Alduin herself.
Alduin smirked. "I didn't see your name on it." She landed and started feasting on the troll, clearly mocking Rahgol who just rolled his eyes. Alduin looked at him. "So, another random encounter, my dear Dovahkiin. We must stop meeting like this."
"Maybe it's fate." Rahgol smirked.
"I don't think you quite believe that." Alduin said and Rahgol shook his head. "Enjoy your little trip to the city of the Stormcloaks? Enjoy seeing what mortals do and how superior the Nords think they are?"
"No I didn't." Rahgol said, giving Alduin a look. "In fact I wanted nothing more than to burn them all for their treatment of a woman and child that did nothing to them."
"Yet you didn't." Alduin pointed out. "Your feeble, fragile mortal shell limits you, my dear Rahgol. Why be mortal when you can be so much more?"
"What, like a Dragon?" Rahgol almost scoffed, like there was anything that could make him become one.
"Perhaps." Alduin said innocently, causing Rahgol to pause and look at her. "Tell me, Rahgol, wouldn't it be easier to be in the air, to fly from place to place as a TRUE Dovah? You could get to places much quicker, be more stronger, superior. You would finally take your place amongst the Dovah, your true species...if you can prove yourself worthy of becoming such."
Rahgol rolled his eyes. "I doubt worth has anything to do with it."
Alduin growled a little at him. "It does. Think about it, hero."
With that she flapped her wings and took off with the troll carcass in her jaws. Rahgol stared before he shook his head with a scoff and walked on.
-6th of the First Seed, 4th Era 202-
His meeting with Alduin that day still went through her mind, especially her words at being a Dragon. Aside from that, Rahgol continued his hunt for Word Walls, even snuck into the Dark Brotherhood Sancutary, which was mostly abandoned save for a sleeping Redguard but Rahgol was able to get the Word Wall, which was one of the Words for the Marked for Death Shout.
Rahgol also found an artefact called the Jagged Crown inside the ruins of a place called Korvanjund. He only went there because it was where a Word Wall was, which was a Word for the Slow Time Shout. Rahgol had also heard that the Imperials and Stormcloaks were also looked for the Crown, unaware that Rahgol had it.
Next were the Dragon Priest Masks. Worn by eight Priests who were part of the Dragon Cult when Alduin still ruled Skyrim. Rahgol had been able to find six of the eight, which were Krosis, Hevnoraak, Otar, Rahgot, Vokun and Volsung. There was two more for him to collect, and a ninth will be revealed when he has all eight. it wasn't easy for Rahgol to get the masks he has, Dragon Priests were tough and extremely powerful magic users, but he was able to defeat them, though Hevnoraak was the hardest.
And then there was the Daedric Princes.
Apparently even some of the Daedric Princes were interested in Rahgol and liked him, really liked him, enough that some of them made him their Champion. In the last few months, Rahgol has become the Champion of four different Princes: Azura, Meridia, Mephala and Sanguine, Then there was the two that really wanted him dead, Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal.
With the other four, Rahgol got gifts out of doing quests for them such as Azura's star, a soul gem that can house an infinite amount of souls and will never break; Dawnbreaker, a golden sword with a light gem in it that easily destroys my enemies, especially Undead; the Ebony Blade, a katana-like greatsword that cuts through anything, heals me, and gets stronger every time Rahgol kills a good friend, or a hated enemy; and Sanguine's Rose, a magical staff that summons Dremora from the highest rank: Valkynaz.
Rahgol knew being under a Daedra's influence was dangerous and could have bad consequences, but he needed the weapons he had to stand a chance against Alduin for the inevitable fight, but he really did not want to be a puppet to the Daedra. Hell, the three female Daedra he was Champion of wanted hi in a sexual way. Yeah, Mephala, Meridia, and Azura wanted to have him in their bed for eternity.
Although, a certain Dragoness didn't seem amused when he encountered her after becoming Mephala's Champion.
-18th of Sun's Dawn, 4th Era 202-
"I can't believe this." Rahgol muttered to himself as he left Whiterun, having just gotten the Ebony Blade after doing something for Mephala JUST because he decided to investigate Balgruuf's son's behaviour. So here he was, after dealing with that whole mess, a new weapon, walking into the woods to go somewhere else. "Just what I need, three Daedric Princes want me to fuck them for eternity, and one of them happens to be the Prince of Sex, why me?"
"Being a Prince's Champion is dangerous." A familiar voice said, causing Rahgol to pause. usually the voice would make him annoyed at hearing she was watching him again, but now he just chuckled almost good-heartedly.
"You must really like watching me." Rahgol said as he turned to see none other than Alduin laying there, hidden amongst the shade in the tress and leaves, looking at him.
"Don't flatter yourself." Alduin scoffed as she stood and walked forward, looking down at him. "I was merely hunting, saw you going to that city with the stench of Daedra coming off you. It seems Meridia, Azura, and now Mephala want their claws in you."
"Jealous?" Rahgol smirked only to be knocked off his feet by Alduin's tail then pinned down by her foot as she bared her teeth, growling down at him.
"Hi hind hi lost tol eylok do kusah fah Ekrah grik ol dimaar!" Alduin snarled before she took off into the air, a frown upon her scaly features.
Why was she so bothered at the fact that those three Daedra sluts wanted Rahgol like that? Well they couldn't have him because he will be dead before they can get their claws on him. Rahgol was hers and hers alone...to kill obviously. Yet why was her heart beating the way it was?
-6th of the First Seed, 4th Era 202-
Rahgol chuckled a little when remembering Alduin's reaction. He couldn't believe she let him live after speaking that way to her, but he speaks with such disrespect to her all the time and he's still alive. He enjoyed their little civil walks they've had, they learned a bit more about each other when they do, and Rahgol found himself respecting Alduin a bit more for what she did during her rule.
Sure it wasn't an easy rule for mortals, but she made sure that mortals had protection as long as the Dragons had a place to call home, to nest, to raise hatchlings and to hunt. That's what Alduin had told him, that in return for that protection, she and her kind were to be given that, of course not everything was that easy and peaceful.
Rahgol was brought from his memories when Arngeir walked over to him.
"Dragonborn, I have a note for you." He said, handing it to Rahgol who opened it and saw the note was from Delphine, much to his slight annoyance at having to still deal with her, even after waiting months until she could find a way into some damn embassy.
'Rahgol,
I have a plan to infiltrate the Thalmor embassy, but I need you to get to Riverwood as soon as possible.'
Not much in this chapter, it was just to show months had passed and Rahgol's progress in getting stronger. Of course he's had a few run ins with Alduin and learned a bit more about her from her side of the story instead of the biased versions from mortals who talk about her rule in books about how Dragons ruled like tyrants and all that shit.
But of course Rahgol and Alduin still know they have to fight, they aren't friends, but they do have some kind of respect for each other...for reasons.
