(This story takes place after Descendants 3)
Mal narrating…
"Long ago, when the gods of Olympus were still around, there was a god named Typhon, the god of dragons, when dragons were first settled onto Earth, the mighty dragon god created 2 magical scepters so powerful that they make modern day magical items, like the Fairy Godmother's wand & my mom's scepter look like toys in comparison. The 2 giant scepters were passed down from king and queen to king and queen, along with the title. For centuries, dragons were friendly creatures, living peacefully on an Island far away from any sort of civilization called "The Isle of the Dragons". Every dragon on that Isle had incredible abilities and were skilled fighters, but they were peaceful creatures up until…dragon hunters showed up, people who hunt dragons for their scales, bones and horns to make a profit. For centuries forward dragons went from peaceful to aggressive creatures as they continued to be hunted, taken and/or killed…until one soon to be dragon king, did something about it. And his name forever more is…Dagron. He despised dragon hunters to his very core. Him and his soon to be queen Abyss, hunted them all down and killed them. 100's of men either turned to ash, stabbed, bitten or electrocuted.
Dagron & Abyss we're both shape shifters and elementals, Dagron being an elemental dragon of fire & Abyss being lightning. Anything related to their elements didn't hurt them, it just made them stronger. Abyss shot lightning blasts so powerful they erased anything in their path. Meanwhile Dagron, according to legend, breathed fire so hot that it melted anything it touched in seconds and turned it into molten lava, living creatures and other animals turning to ash in a matter of seconds. One day, after hearing of the many deaths, an old and powerful wizard imprisoned them and the other dragons away, the two of them in their own sarcophagus & buried in their own tombs, the scepters buried with them. All of the dragons on the Isle were imprisoned in a powerful magical barrier that froze them in time for eternity. But even eternity…doesn't last forever. While the ruins of the past do their best to conceal that which should remain buried, they eventually yield deadly and…frightening secrets".
Our story began on the Isle of the Lost as 3 people stumbled upon a sinkhole in a dark alley. They all grabbed a bunch of ropes and scaled down it. It leads them to a large unknown chamber with carvings on the wall and in the center of the room was a big sarcophagus with a key in it and behind it, a large golden scepter. They all looked at each other, then one of them turned the key to the sarcophagus to unlock it. Suddenly the key exploded in smaller pieces and the sarcophagus started to crack and shake with the inside glowing a bright orange color. It exploded, sending the three people flying back and hitting the wall. A bright ball of fire then flew around the room and then landed to form the king of dragons himself, Dagron.
"I'm…free. After so long…I'm finally free" said Dagron.
The people who freed him looked with fear as Dagron turns to look at them.
"Thank you for freeing me, but now…get out. Tell anyone of this and I'll turn you all into ash, got it" said Dagron with a fiery look in his eyes.
They nodded then quickly climbed back up the rope, leaving Dagron alone in that chamber. He got his barings together then grabbed his scepter. It let out a short glow as it reactivated.
"(Much better…and now…I need to get out of here, find Abyss and get back home)" he said in his own language.
He grabbed his staff from his back and said "(Find the other scepter)". It began to glow as it sent out a signal to the other scepter.
"(Done…I'm coming Abyss. Don't worry…we WILL be reunited)" he said to himself.
He then turned back into the bright fireball then flew up. He got up in the sky right below the Isle where everyone can see him as he turned back to normal letting out a loud roar. Everyone began running for their lives, screaming, knowing full blown who their looking at. He quickly flew away from the Isle and into the water.
While swimming underwater he devours several schools of fish. "I've…I've seen that Isle I was on before but…it's completely changed. How long was I imprisoned for" he wondered.
He surfaced and saw the school "Hmm…maybe I can get some answers at that place. To see what's going on in the world and what's changed" he thought to himself as he began swimming that way.
At the same time he was freed, Mal & Ben were outside Auradon having a conversation.
"Was it me…or did I hear a loud roar come from the Isle" said Mal.
"I…didn't hear a roar" said Ben.
"Hmm…I'll check in with Uma later and see if I heard something" said Mal.
Meanwhile Uma, Harry & Gil ran off to find Mal & Ben and warn them about Dagron.
"Do you think they'll believe us" asked Gil.
"Probably not, but we still gotta warn them" said Uma.
Dagron was nearing the shoreline, shapeshifted into a small crocodile to remain unnoticed.
He reached the shoreline then shapeshifted into a crow. He shook himself dry then flew up to the branch of a big tree, just in time for Uma, Harry and Gil to show up on campus grounds, where Mal & Ben are surprised to see them.
"What are you 3 doing here, this is…quite a surprise" said Mal.
"We…came to warn you" said Gil.
"Warn us? About what" asked Ben.
"Tell them Uma" said Harry.
"The feared King of Dragons…Dagron…he's free" said Uma, to both Mal & Ben's shock.
"Did you…hear a loud roar by any chance" Gill asked.
"Actually…yeah, we did" said Mal.
"Well…that was Dagron, he's free" said Uma, Ben & Mal looking concerned now.
"Last time he was seen was 20 minutes ago, he flew into the water outside the Isle and disappeared" said Gil.
"What happens now" asked Harry.
Ben & Mal looked at each other and Ben said "We'll keep an eye out for him in case he shows up around here".
"Yeah, you 3 head back to the Isle and keep an eye out there" said Mal.
"Right…good thinking, if you ever need any help, just call" said Uma as she, Harry and Gil began to walk back to the Isle of the Lost.
Ben and Mal walk away, looking very concerned about everyone's safety.
"What happens if we actually find him" asked Ben.
"I don't know. I always assumed that legend to be just that, a legend" said Mal.
"Me too but…it looks like that isn't the case" said Ben.
Dagron heard everything as they walked away. He thought to himself "So…they taught the future generations that we dragons were just a legend? Well…after I'm done, they won't call us a legend anymore" than flew away.
That night while everyone went to sleep Dagron flew inside one of the open windows the school's library had. He then turned into a black, red eyed owl and landed on top of the bookcases.
"(OK…let's check the books and see what's changed)" said Dagron.
He then spent 30 minutes reading the books about what transpired in time, learning the horrifying truth that he, his queen, friends and family and all dragon kind have been imprisoned for 1000's of years and that all other creatures that have existed alongside them so long ago, like Griffins, Sea Serpents and such…are now all extinct.
"(By the gods…Abyss, she…she needs to know this)" he said to himself as he closed the books.
He shapeshifted back into his dragon form, just enough space in the room for him to fit, grabbed the books he was reading then smashed out of the library, triggering the alarm. He took off flying away fast before he was seen.
A couple of minutes go by then Ben, Mal and the rest of their friends burst into the library only to find it completely destroyed with bookcases knocked over and a giant hole leading outside.
"Oh my…what happened here" Eivy asked.
"Looks like a big animal burst out of here" said Jay.
Ben and Mal then noticed the giant dragon foot print on the floor and Mal said "You can say that again".
Fairy Godmother, Belle and Beast walked in looking on at the destruction.
"What…what happened here" asked the Fairy Godmother, Beast and Belle just speechless about the confusion.
"I think we know what or rather…who did this" said Ben as he and Mal looked at each other.
The next day…
The damage to the library is being repaired while Ben sits in his office with Mal, his parents and the Fairy Godmother.
"So it would seem that…we aren't just dealing with a dragon" said Beast.
"But the KING of all dragons…Dagron" said Mal, all 5 of them looking at all the information about Dagron & Abyss she gathered.
"On the bright side, no reports of attacks have come in yet, meaning that Dagron hasn't killed or turned anyone to ash…yet" said Mal.
"And the dark side" Belle asked.
"If Abyss isn't free yet, he'll kill anyone who gets in his way to free her" Mal replied.
"Oh boy…what do we do now? Even I'm stumped about this" Beast asked.
"Hmm…well, he's probably long gone by now so we don't have to worry about him coming back, not yet anyway" said Ben.
"How did he even get into the Library? Only thing that was opened was a small window" the Fairy Godmother asked.
"He can shapeshift, that's one of his abilities. To turn into any sort of animal that he wants, must have turned into a small bird and flew into the library via that window" Mal replied.
"Yeah, but why? Why break into a library and steal 3 books" Beast asked.
"Probably wanting to figure what's changed in the few 1000 years he's been imprisoned" said Mal.
"It's honestly a little scary to think…him finding out that he and his kind are now the top predators" said Ben.
"Yeah, but…for now, there's nothing we can do" said Ben as they all look worried about the situation.
Meanwhile Dagron made it to the top of a mountain and sees what looks like an old ruin not too far from where he was, with 2 giant stone doors with stairs going up to it. He points his staff in that direction and it glowed very bright.
"(There it is, don't worry Abyss. We'll soon be together again)" he said as he took flight and flew towards it as thunder can be heard above from dark stormy clouds.
