Now he was free:

As Harry Potter stared down at the crumpled body of Albus Dumbledore, he acted like everyone expected, heartbroken. He did straighten the old mans half-moon glasses that sat upon his crooked nose. He used his sleeve of his robes to wipe the small trickle of blood from the corner of Dumbledore's mouth.

Harry could hear people moving closer, he didn't move or react. He kept his act of caring for the man that lay dead in front of him.

Harry always knew the old man was a fool and this time, it cost him his life. Not that Harry cared, he hated Dumbledore, he just had to keep his act of caring for the old man going a little while longer. He would soon be shot of all the danger but also he would be shot of all the people that had acted like a friend or acted like they cared about him, but none of them were true friends. Harry had known that for a long time.

When he was eleven and twelve, he thought finally, he was where he was supposed to be. Then he found this world was worse than the muggle world and people were far more evil and dangerous than the Dursley's. He saw the bullying, by staff and student. He also saw how the staff sat back and just let young students be harassed and hurt. By the time he was nearly fifteen, he had gathered enough information to know there was not one person in the wizarding world that he cared enough to help. Many would say he was cared for, especially from Hermione and Ron, but he saw his so called two best friends turn on him and lie to him and about him. He knew they were two people that he wouldn't help even if they were being tortured. Then there was his so called girlfriend. Harry knew before they began dating that she liked the mythical character, the-boy-who-lived. She didn't even really know Harry, yet she made everyone believe she loved him.

Harry finally allowed Ginny to take his hand and lead him into the castle and up to the hospital wing. He saw Bill and saw how badly scarred he was. Again Harry blamed Dumbledore. He knew that death eaters were going to get into the school yet he still left but did not get more people to go to Hogwarts to protect the young innocent students. Even though he had his plans, he felt that Bill should blame Dumbledore for almost being turned into a werewolf.

Harry finally explained that Dumbledore was dead and who did it. Many were shocked, like always, they trusted Dumbledore when he said Snape had his complete trust. None of them questioned him or asked for proof that Snape was really on their side. Now they were finally hearing the truth. Snape had always been a death eater and killed Albus Dumbledore.

When Harry explained the reason why Dumbledore trusted Snape and about how sorry Snape was for telling Voldemort the prophecy, Harry had to force himself not to smile.

Remus Lupin was furious and said there was no way that Snape would feel remorse for James' death.

Even though Harry came to hate Lupin as well, for running away after Harry's parents had been killed, Harry did like to see that Lupin realised that Dumbledore made a huge mistake. Harry had known the old man had made many mistakes. No one would listen to him so he always stayed quiet. But now, others were finally realising that they should have questioned Albus Dumbledore about Snape but also about many other things. If they had asked for proof, Dumbledore might still be alive.

After everyone left the hospital, Harry kept up his act by going up to Dumbledore's office. He was pleased to see that all the portraits apart from one was empty. Albus Dumbledore sat in a chair, asleep in his portrait. All the other people from the portraits would be visiting others in the castle to find out what happened.

Harry took the opportunity to summon Dumbledore's wand to him but also anything that was linked to him. There silver instruments that had survived Harry's temper after he had found out about Snape, had landed in front of him. Harry destroyed them completely, then vanished the pieces. He checked and doubled checked, but there was nothing left that was linked to him. He put the wand in his pocket and left the office. He would have liked to destroy the portrait of Albus Dumbledore, but he knew he couldn't or someone might find out it was him. He also had a feeling that these types of portraits could be redone in case one got damaged or destroyed.

Harry went straight to shower, then climbed into bed. He had to get through one more day then he would finally leave Hogwarts, for good.

Harry felt disgusted at the pompous funeral for Albus Dumbledore, but he was also disgusted that Dolores Umbridge was there and was with the new minister for magic.

Harry knew it was time so he explained to Ginny that he had a job to do and it would be safer for her if they broke up. He knew she would not cry, Ginny was not a crying. What he didn't expect was for her to say he couldn't be happy unless he was hunting Voldemort.

'You think I want to hunt that bastard. I would be perfectly happy if he would just leave me alone. He took enough from me, he's not going to take my life, which includes my happiness. You don't know me at all,' Harry glared at Ginny who seemed shocked before he turned and walked away, 'It's over, for good,' he said but loud enough for Ginny to hear it. He always planned to break up with her, now she would see that no matter what happened, he would never want her again.

Harry was already angry but when the minister for magic tried to get him to help, for raising everyone's morale, he glared.

'Released Stan Shunpike yet?' Harry growled.

Rufus realised he would never have Harry Potter's support and right now, he could see no matter what, Harry Potter would always be Albus Dumbledore's man through and through. He had no idea that Harry had never been Dumbledore's man.

Harry turned and walked away. He saw Hermione and Ron who seemed to be waiting for the minister to leave. Harry didn't want to talk to them, not right now. He slipped his invisibility cloak on and disappeared.

Harry originally planned to take the Hogwarts express back to London but now he realised he would probably have not only Ron and Hermione at him about the job he was supposed to do, he would probably have the order of the phoenix waiting for him. The order would probably keep him at Private drive, something that Harry was going to sure would not happen. Harry decided it was time to leave.

Harry didn't pack his trunk, he packed his bag with the few things he wanted to keep. With the charms he had placed on the bag, he could easily slip his broom inside. He told Hedwig to leave, he knew she would eventually find him but he did tell her that since he would be far away, she could take her time.

Harry snuck through the tunnel at Honeydukes. He knew the shop would be shut as all the people that worked in Hogsmeade were still at Hogwarts after the funeral. Harry got to the shop, checked to make sure no one was around, then disapparated away.

Minerva and many of the order of the phoenix members believed that Harry was just too heartbroken to stick around. It was Hermione that said Harry probably left before reporters got to him in Hogsmeade.

Remus, Tonks, Hestia and Dedilus were heading to Little Whinging to wait for Harry. They needed the Dursley's to realise how dangerous it would be from the moment Harry turned seventeen. Remus also wanted to see Harry before he went into hiding with Tonks. He wanted Harry to know he would always be there for him.

When the four people saw that Harry was not with the Dursley's, Remus instantly began to question them. It took a while with Vernon going off at the freaks being in his yard, but they did find out that Harry never appeared at Kings Cross. They even waited until they saw the red headed freaks before they left.

Hestia and Dedilus stayed to speak with the Dursley's about the danger while Remus and Tonks headed straight to Grimmauld place. They figured Harry just decided not to return to the muggles, especially ones he did not like.

There was no sign of Harry at the house at all, 'Where do you think he went?' Tonks asked.

'If it was to the Burrow, he would have either taken the train or flew straight there. The only other place would be here.' Remus said.

'But he heard how much Sirius hated this place and those memories would still be strong for Harry. No, I don't believe he will come here Remus.' Tonks said.

'Then it has to be the Burrow. He has no where else to go.'

'Speak with Arthur but also Fleur, find out if she can get any information from the goblins about Harry. He may have gone there while everyone was still at Hogwarts. It would give him a chance to get some money before any reporters or death eaters turned up.'

'Alright, I'll floo the Burrow, they should be there by now.'

It didn't take long before all the order, along with people like Ron, Hermione and the twins to realise that Harry was gone. They hoped he may still arrive at the Burrow or his relatives place. They just hoped he hadn't been caught by Voldemort or his death eaters.

Over the following week, all the order went out looking for Harry, but there was no sign of him anywhere. The order did know that Albus had given Harry some job that was vital to ending Voldemort but none of them knew what that job was.

Even after looking at every place they believed Harry had gone, it was Hermione who suggested looking at where his parents were buried, Harry might have gone there.

The members of the order of the phoenix decided that two people would constantly watch the graveyard at Godric's Hollow and hoped they found Harry. Hermione went home and was able to work some magic so her parents would forget they had a daughter, but also so they would believe they wanted to move to Australia. It took a few weeks but the Granger's left England and Hermione returned to the Burrow. She had been hoping Harry was there but there was still no sign of him.

No one knew what to do. They didn't have a spy anymore so they didn't know if Voldemort had Harry or he might be hiding somewhere. They could not find out what this job was Harry had been given. They thought in case Voldemort did get hold of Harry then they, the order could do the job Albus gave Harry. They wouldn't stop looking for him and hoped he just went into hiding and he hadn't been captured. It was only two weeks later that the order met and were told that they had killed Voldemort's snake who had been hanging around the graveyard.

'There's proof that he doesn't have Harry. He left the snake there to alert him in case Harry turned up,' Remus said but everyone agreed. Now they knew Harry was just hiding somewhere. They didn't know where or why he was hiding. They hoped he just wanted some time to get over losing someone else he had been close to.

Harry was now an adult, so he could use his magic which would make it easier to stay hidden. He also had his invisibility cloak, which would keep him safe and again, hidden, but from death eaters and Voldemort.

Harry Potter had settled into his wizarding tent in a muggle camp ground not far from the beach in Hawaii. He had decided that for now, the tent would do especially since Hawaii was a much warmer country than England. He would work on where he would live, eventually. For now, he would just keep moving around and pitching his tent in different places. He thought muggle camp grounds were best, he would just need to hide his tent and make sure no one saw him always hanging around. He was going to try to find one that had an area where he could stay secluded. If he could find something suitable, he could put the tent and an area around the tent under the fidelius charm and make sure to add the muggle repelling charm. That would allow him to stay somewhere for a long time but also have everything he needed close by. He knew he would need to study up on charms to prevent storms from blowing his tent away. He would need to do that straight away. He had only did a small amount of research on Hawaii and knew they could get some severe storms.

Harry needed to learn before he could considering trying to find work. Only then would he work on finding a proper home. He also needed to stay hidden from any one magical, until he could get rid of his scar. Everyone in the wizarding world knew about the-boy-who-lived and knew the scar. Harry would make sure to work on having it removed using muggle plastic surgery. He was going to dye his hair, hopefully, it would be enough to keep him from being recognised.

It was time Harry started a new life, one where he wasn't always put in danger or have everyone watching everything he did. He wanted a life but a life he chose, not one that was chosen for him by Albus Dumbledore.

During Bill and Fleur's wedding, Peter Pettigrew lead a large group of death eaters and werewolves to the Burrow. Only a handful managed to escape and only Bill, Fleur, Charlie, Ginny and the twins survived out of all the Weasley's. After Remus was able to talk Tonks into leaving, because she was pregnant, he ended up dead at the hands of the werewolf who bit him, Greyback. Remus had been helping Ginny Weasley who was attacked by Greyback and because it was the full moon, Ginny would eventually become a werewolf but she was also badly scarred, worse than Bill had been. Many of the other guests had also died during the attack, but some managed to escape.

Ron died while trying to protect some of the younger children that were there. Hermione had been helping but after being hit with a curse that caused her a lot of injuries, Ron was able to talk her into leaving to get healed. She could also see about sending people to help. Right after Hermione left, the death eaters slaughtered everyone that was there. Molly and Arthur had also died, while they tried to protect their children.

Voldemort wasn't happy even though many of the blood traitors were killed. He had believed Harry Potter was at the wedding and probably hiding using polyjuice potion or his invisibility cloak. No one saw Harry Potter and no body was found that had Harry Potter's wand or cloak on them. Voldemort ended up cursing Severus and Peter, who both said since Harry was very close to the Weasley's, he would be there, just hiding. Peter ended up so badly cursed that his mind was gone, so Voldemort knew he would be of no use, so he killed him. Severus survived but with a lot of nerve damage, just no brain damage.

After Severus had been able to take some potions, he began to try to work out where Potter was. He had to find him to pass on the information Albus wanted the boy to know. If he wasn't at the wedding with Lupin and the Weasley's, Severus didn't know where the boy was.

Harry was able to work on some fake papers made from magic for the muggles. He now had identification in the name of Evan James Orion. Once he had that, he was able to get his scar removed, then he dyed his hair. Now Harry knew he could study and hopefully be allowed to take his newts at the ministry. He had his story ready, he escaped England after his parents and brother had been murdered. He had two histories ready and depending on how the Hawaiian ministry was, he would then decide if he would be a half-blood that had a muggleborn grandparent or a muggleborn who had muggle parents. He believe saying he was a muggleborn would be the safest and easiest to pull off. Evan was a muggle name, he grew up in the muggle world so he knows all about muggle things. He would decide once he visited the Hawaiian ministry of magic. He knew Hawaii was part of America but since it had it's own islands, they had their own ministry, just smaller than the American one. He just hoped they were bias like the English ministry of magic was.

It took almost a year but Harry finally felt he could begin a new life. His scar was gone and he had dyed his hair, using muggle dye. He used muggle coloured contact lenses, both prescription and clear. He had very fashionable glasses for reading. He wanted to be different to Harry Potter but also be like many others. Harry didn't need glasses to see because of his contacts, he just needed glasses to read. Harry needed glasses to see and read. During this time, Harry had also been studying. Now that everything was done and he even had a muggle name, Evan, it was time to see if he could take his newts.

Harry or Evan passed his newts with all O's in seven subjects, including potions. Once he was away from Snape, Evan found it easy to make potions. He decided to become a potions master, which was completely different to what everyone in England believed he would be, an auror. Harry also knew that no one would believe he would like potions, let alone get his masters in the subject.

Evan had been told when he asked about taking his newts that there ministry were taking many who escaped from England. At first Evan was worried that someone would recognise him but after studying himself in the mirror, Evan knew no one would see Harry Potter. He was Evan James Orion, a nineteen year old man trying to start a new life. Harry put his age up a year, just to add a bit more distance between Evan Orion and Harry Potter.

The moment Evan began his training, he heard that American, Spain, Australian, Italy and Sweden were helping healers in England. Those helping smuggled in international portkeys so the English healers could smuggle out injured patients but especially muggleborns. They also needed as many people who could make potions as they could get. They needed to be able to supply the healers with potions.

It was after he began his second year or training that Evan had panicked. Harry was working in the hospital making potions for the patients when he saw two patients in a room, it wasn't them that shocked Evan, but the young man sitting next to them. It was Neville Longbottom. Evan knew that Neville was sitting next to his parents. Since he had to do what he was told by a senior healer and potions master, Evan gave the Longbottom's their potions. Even though it was a good test, Neville did not recognise him at all.

It was halfway through his third year that Evan had another shock. Hermione was there to get some more potions. Evan had been stocking up the shelves with potions when he spotted Hermione walk past. Evan used his invisibility cloak to listen in on Hermione. He found out how she came to be here, she was one that was smuggled out, one of the injured. The potions she had to take were ones she had to have forever. Evan heard Hermione tell the nurse that her boyfriend and almost his entire family had been killed the day she was injured. He heard Hermione talking about how she finally had her parents back, thanks to the Australia obliviators. They gave the Granger's new memories so they would believe they had been injured and Hermione helped save them. Hermione and her parents were holidaying on the islands but she had a letter from her healer in Australia so they would know she needed the potions.

Evan decided to test his former friend. If anyone would recognise him, it would be Hermione. He removed his cloak then made sure he would be see by her in the corridor and behind the nurses station where he had to put some potions.

When he noticed Hermione glanced towards him, he made sure to look up, look at her then went back to stocking the potions. She had looked at him but went back to speaking with the nurse. Evan didn't relax until he knew Hermione was gone.

That night after work, Evan instantly grabbed a beer. 'She lives in Australia and is only here for a holiday. She didn't recognise me, so I know I'm safe if Hermione didn't see Harry Potter,' Evan also knew that he was lucky to pick Hawaii. He had been thinking about Australia, then the Caribbean, Spain and a few others places before he settled on Hawaii. Neville might be here but he also didn't recognise Harry.

'No, I'm safe, I don't have to worry that someone might see Harry Potter. Handling potions is something no one would suspect Harry would do.'

Even though Evan knew that many people had died in England, he just couldn't bring himself to care. No one had cared for him from the time his parents were murdered, then he was harassed and bullied by many in the wizarding world. No, Harry Potter didn't feel guilty. He finally had the life he wanted. He had a great career and in one more year he would have his masters in potions. He knew that when he was older, he might see about teaching. For now, he was happy to supply the hospital with potions along with making extra to send to England. Maybe now he was away from everyone and everything from his old life, he might end up meeting the woman who would be right for him. She would have no idea who he really was, so if he met someone, she would like him for him, not for Harry Potter, the-boy-who-lived.

Evan smiled at the thought they he might finally be like everyone else. A man that worked and one day a woman to marry and give him children. That was his dream and one he hoped would come true and not to far in the distant future.

The end:
