Chapter 2
Old Friend Reunited
Sally Awoke to the sun hitting her in the face from her hotel window. She stretched a bit then turned over and looked at the other bed in her hotel room. There lying on the bed was a girl of around fifteen with long black hair that went past her shoulders. She was sleeping but Sally knew that if she opened her eyes that they would be the highest pair of sea green eyes Sally had ever seen. The girl's name was Persephone after the god Hades Wife, but the girl refused to be called that stating that the name was much too long and instead to call her Percy. Percy was Sally's everything.
When she left her home to escape the violent war that was taking place and killed many of her closest friends and moved to America, she thought life would be simpler. She had hidden herself away in a small cabin on a beach in Montauk and had stopped using magic and started doing everything like the muggles did. Then she met Poseidon and fell in love with the god of the sea, and they spent the summer together. He sadly had to return to leave and return to the world of gods, but he left her the best gift of all. She will never regret what she did with the god of the sea because it gave her Percy.
Sally started to get up when her daughter gave a small yawn and started to wake up. She blinked a couple of times then rubbed her eyes to get the sleep out of them. Percy Slowly started to sit up in the bed then turned to her mom and gave a sleepy smile and said, "morning mom."
"Morning sweetheart, how was your sleep?" Sally said with a gentle smile.
"So, what are plans for the day mom? Are you going to finally show me where you grew up?" Percy asked with a smile on her face. Sally chuckled at her daughter. They had only Bin in London for two day now and her daughter was already nagging her to see her old house where she grew up. Only Sally didn't want to go back to where her mother had raised her. Her mother was never the most affectionate person and since her dad was off trying to take over the world and was a heartless monster who was never around, she just did not have fond memories of her family home. So, she was avoiding telling her daughter anything about the wizarding world and her grandfather.
"Maybe another day sweetheart I was thinking that today we should maybe try going to one of London's museums, '' Sally said with a laugh at her daughter's expression of anions. Sally knew her daughter was not as enthusiastic about learning as her friend Annabeth was.
"Ok mom if that's really what you want i guess we can do that." Percy said
They both got up and ready for the day. As her daughter and her were making their way to the door when there was a sharp knock on their hotel door. Sally motioned to her daughter to stop and moved over to the door to look out the peephole to see who it was. What she saw surprised her for standing in front of the door was her old friend and crush Remus Lupin.
Sally flung open the door with enthusiasm and throw herself at lupin to give him a great big hug and cried out "Remus my goodness what a surprise how did you find out I was her"
"Well, my dear I believe that would be my doing for you see I told them" said a wise old voice from off to her left. Sally turned her head to look at the man that had spoken to her and found herself looking at her old headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore. He smiled at her with that twinkle in his eye that he seemed to always have. He pushed his half-moon glasses up his nose while saying "Hello my dear it's been some time."
"Dumbledore, how did you find out I was here?" Sally asked as she motioned for them to come into the room, she and her daughter were staying in. As Sally turned around to go back into the room, she caught her daughter looking at the two men with curiosity. Once they were all in the room Sally turned to Percy and started introductions.
"Percy, this is Remus and Professor Dumbledore. Professor Remus is my daughter Persephone but call her Percy unless you like teenage girls glaring at you for 10 minutes." Sally said while looking at her old friend and professor.
"Hi" Percy said while inspecting Remus and Dumbledore. "So how do you know my mom? I mean she has never mention you before"
"Well now I am hurt Sally, you never mentioned me to you kid and I thought we were such good friends back in school" Remus said with a playful grin. "So, to answer your question Percy, I used to go to school with your mother and I was one of her closest friends as well".
"Wow so like you knew my mom when she was my age" her daughter asked with a mischievous grin on her face that I knew meant trouble for me.
"Oh yes she was the most helpful and kind witch of her year" Remus said. Sally's heart stopped at Remus's words. What was she to do knowing that the cat was out of the bag she knew her daughter could handle this information, but she just wanted to give a piece of normalcy instead of being from two weird worlds?
Percy shook her head then placed her hand on her forehead, shook her head then lowered her arm, looked at Remus and asked in a steady voice "wait did you just say which? I mean I must have heard you wrong because my mom is not a witch. I mean if she was then I would now because there is no way that I would have missed her doing spells and magic for my whole life"
Sally inhaled before saying "well Percy I am a witch and I'm a pretty good one two". She looked at her daughter and saw a look of surprise plastered on her face.
Percy looked at her mom and said, "were your mom a witch or is it just you."
Sally Grimaced but then replied "yes Percy both your grandparents were magic though you must understand that they were terrible people. Your grandmother was a nasty purist same as your grandfather, though out of both of my parents my father was by far the very worst wizard of all time."
"Really I don't believe that how could the people who raised you be anything but kind and caring. I mean you just could not have been raised by evil people." Percy said
"Ow it's quite true my dear girl your grandfather was dead one of the worst wizards in all history. In fact, your grandfather started a war just on his ideals that pure blood wizards that have no muggle blood in them are supreme of all wizard kind" answered Albus who Percy and Sally had forgotten was standing in the room with them.
Dumbledore smiled at Percy and asked, "Percy has your mother never told you any of this before."
"No sir, this is all new to me." Percy said
"Well, this is all great and all but we really need to talk to you sally." Remus said with an air of urgency
Sally looked at Remus with confusion and asked, "What up Remus what's the matter."
"Well, the thing is that your father is back." Remus answered sally. Sally could not believe it the last she had heard was that the dark lord was gone and that he was defeated by a baby. Sally had to sit down and the news that he was back was just too much of a shock for her to take her father back and with him would start the killing and the torcher all over again. He had to be stopped before he could start all over again. Sally looked up at Remus and Dumbledore with a searching look. Looking for any sign that this was just some horrible joke or pay back for disappearing all thoughts years ago without a word. When she saw non, she still had to ask "you're joking right please tell me your joking"
"I'm sorry sally but what Remus says is true. Your father is indeed back and that is also why we're here. We come to see if you would join the order again. We need strong capable witches and wizards to help bring down your father once and for all and to help protect Harry potter." Albus said with a determined face.
Sally looked at Dumbledore then looked at her daughter. If she joins back up with the order what would put not just her but also her daughter where her father could get his hands on them. She didn't know what to do. Then her daughter gave her a look and she knew that her daughter would get mad at her if she said no so that she could protect her. Her daughter was perfectly capable of looking after herself.
"Ok I'll join but Dumbledore you have to let Percy go to Hogwarts please it will be the only safe place in England one this war starts.'' Sally pleaded with her old professor.
"Well, I don't see why not as long as your daughter is a witch. She is a witch, isn't she?" Dumbledore asked sally. Sally thought for a moment about how to answer this. She could tell the truth and expose these two men to the world of the gods. She could also lie and say that her daughter was a witch but then there were more questions that might need to be answered. like why she didn't know about her mom being a witch and what would happen if she couldn't produce magic with a wand. There was no going around it she had to tell them.
"Well, you see Dumbledore the thing is that i don't know if she is or isn't a witch." Sally said
Remus laughed and said "come now sally you don't know if your daughter is a witch. How is that possible you would have been able to tell the first time she did a bout of accidental magic in front of you."
Sally took in a deep breath then said in a gentle voice "I don't know if she's a witch because she's the daughter of a Poseidon meaning she's half god. When stuff around her happened that looked like magic I never knew if it was because of her father's godly blood or because she had inherited my magic and I just never thought to test to see which it was."
Remus looked at her with his mouth opened in shock while Dumbledore stood looking like this was not a huge bombshell to him. I turned around to look at Percy to see that her face had gone pale then realized what I had done to her. I had exposed her secret to these two men without even thinking about whether she would want them to know. I walked over to her and pulled her into a hug then whispered in her ear "its ok Percy they won't tell anyone I know that Remus would never tell another person's secret and I trust Dumbledore." she felt as her daughter nodded her head to indicate that she would be ok with it.
Sally let go of Percy and turned back to the two men in the room with them. While Sally had been reassuring Percy, Remus had seemed to pull himself together. While Dumbledore had a knowing smile on his face. He looked over to Percy and asked "so Percy how is my old friend Chiron doing. I hope he's not being too hard on the new set of campers he has."
Now it was Sally and Percy's turn to be shocked by what Dumbledore had said. Not only was he ok with Percy being a demigod but he was also apparently Chiron the centaur that trained the demigods of camp half-bloods old friend. Percy was the one to voice both of their thoughts "Wait a minute you know Chiron." she said while pointing a finger at sally's old professor.
"Yes, my dear. Now to solve this problem of not Knowing if you are a witch or not. It is quite simple really all we must do is see if you can use a wand. Now Sally, do you by any chance have your wand on you?" Dumbledore asked as he turned to sally.
Sally nodded then walked over to her suitcase that was on the floor under her bed. She pulled out a redwood wand with a unicorn hair core. She stood back up and walked over to Percy and held out the wand. Percy hesitated then gently took the wand from her mom. Percy looked down at the wand and wondered what she was supposed to do with it. She looked up at the three other people in the room with an imploring look then looked back to the wand.
"Wave the wand my dear." Dumbledore told Percy.
Percy nodded her head then gave the wand a small wave. As she waved the wand a drawer on one of the nightstand went flying across the room. Immediately Sally leapt forward and snatched the wand from her daughter's hand then stepped back to stand closer to Remus.
"Well, I guess that answers your question my dear. So now I suppose that young Miss Percy here will need some tutoring before the new school year, and I have just the young witch in mind." Dumbledore said.
Remus gave a small chuckle then said, "I believe you're talking about young miss granger right."
"Who's miss granger." Percy asked Remus with an inquisitive look.
"Miss granger is one of the best young witch in Hogwarts right now and she will be in the same year as you for the new school year.'' Remus answered Percy.
"So, this Miss Granger is where she is right now. I mean if Percy was going to be tutored by this bright young witch, then she would have to start right way wouldn't she." sally inquired
"She just so happens to be staying with the order right now. so, all you would have to do is follow me and Remus back to the base of operations then you two could meet mis granger and all the other children that will be going to school with Percy that are there." Dumbledore said.
Sally smiled and looked at Dumbledore while saying "well then what are we waiting for. Lead the way professor."
Remus gave a small laugh and walked over to the door to open it for the others to walk out. He then closed the door behind them, let Sally lock the door and then went off. Back on their way to Grimmauld place.
