Okay. I'm back. With another chapter.
So sorry for not updating but I did mention I have another fic I'm working on.
Anyhoots, in this chapter they are going to see sights in NYC.
Also, replying to Annabeth McGrace's review- it would be verrrrryyyy interesting if they meet Magnus and co. but I think their in another state. And this fic specifically calls for the Weasley bunch to be in New York. Also, naming the rented house Big Banana would be a great idea, but when I wrote it I actually meant for Harry to say "Welcome to the big apple(that's another name for New York...I think)" but he's too engaged in the Wizarding world and got the name wrong. It's also why in the beginning of the chapter Reagan was muttering about apples.
Also the Percy here is Percy Weasley not Jackson. Just keep that in mind.
Now back onto the story...
Disclaimer: I own Reagan. Nothing else. Also to daughterofhades, Jennifer will appear in later chapters. Just wait and see.
New York sure is big. And loud. And full of people from all over the world. Teddy could see why people liked it. It's a place where you could be free and just be yourself. You could literally walk around in cloaks with an owl perched on your shoulders and a cauldron in hand and no one even looks at you funny.
Also it has hella good chocolate.
It was too late for seeing any tourist sights so the group decided to explore downtown New York. Awed by all the people bustling around busy shops, group stood there marveling at the streets before them for a good ten minutes.
Then they decided to split up into groups to see smaller sites or go and explore the shops on the streets, leaving the 'bigger' sites for tomorrow's official tour. A group opted to go take a walk along the Hudson River, another went to see the Madison Square Garden, the third group decided went to check out the Rockefeller Center. Fleur, Audria, and Angelina was just wondering where the fourth group could go when Reagan piped up.
"Could we go check out the fifth avenue? There's a whole lot of shops." She suggested.
The adults thought about it for a second before nodding.
"I don't see why not." Angelina decided.
"Alright, let's split into groups. There are four groups and each will go to a different place. We will assign chaperones afterwards. The four locations are Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue, and walking along the Hudson River."
Reagan raised her hand, out of habit. "No offense, but the Hudson River is really polluted. It filled with mud and garbage and other stuff. There's not really a lot to see there. Also I'd like to add that the fifth Avenue is filled with clothing and jewelry shops. Any girls want to go shopping? If I remember correctly, there's a skating rink in the Rockefeller Center. Madison Square Garden quite famous and is right on top of the Penn Station. There's this sweets shop I recommend called Sweet For America, go check it out."
Percy frowned and exchanged a word with Hermione.
"Okay then, there will be three groups. Fifth Avenue stand to the right, Madison Square stand to the left, and Rockefeller Center in the middle."
After some quick talk between friends about where they were going to go, the children all stood in their groups. Soon the adults also decided on which group to chaperone. The following is what the group looks like:
Madison Square Garden: James, Fred, Hugo, Louis; Chaperone: Draco, George, Ron, Bill
Fifth Avenue: Reagan, Victoire, Dominique, Roxanne, Lily, Lucy; Chaperone: Fleur, Ginny, Audria, Angelina
Rockefeller Center: Molly (junior), Rose, Scorpious, Albus, Teddy; Chaperone: Hermione, Harry, Percy
After they got the groups organized and made sure each chaperone had a map of the city, they set off to their different destination, taking in the different sights of New York City along the way.
Madison Square GardenJames grinned to himself. This group has gotten the best chaperones. A couple knowing looks was all it took for them to skip all the boring sights and the pen station, whatever that was. Sure, they had gotten slightly lost on their way, but being able to pig out on different chocolates, candies, lollipops, jelly beans, fudges(they had a good laugh over that name), and sour strips in all different flavors and color available was totally worth it in James' point of view.
"Honestly, this is even better than Honeydukes!" Ron exclaimed with a mouth full of sour, chewy candy.
"The best part? No candy that burns through your tongue or taste like blood. No more worrying about the chocolate turning into cockroaches inside your stomach." Bill said before pouring a box of Nerds into his mouth. They had purchased a little of everything they offered in that store with the muggle money Hermione gave them. It was more than enough to feed an small army.
Hugo was digging through one of the seven bags for green jelly beans. Eating those without worrying about it being booger flavored was a huge relief to everyone in the room. Louis and Fred were playing a game in which they guessed what everyone would like.
"Teddy would totally go for the chocolates." Louis stated.
"Well that's a no brainer, he's practically chocoholic! I'm guessing Rose would go for the gum. Something about it improving your memory and making you smarter?" Fred said with a disbelieving look as he dug for more strawberry flavored hi-chews.
"Dominique would be hogging the icebreakers and Fleur would be eating all the skittles." Their conversation became more and more heated before going into an all out bet.
"Ten knuts that Roxy would like the jawbreaker. I mean, have you even seen the size of those things?"
"Three sickles that Lily and Scorpious would fight for the sour patch kids and that Lily would like the red ones most."
"Four sickles and seven knuts that Al would be eating all the licorice like an old lady." Both boys snorted at that comparison.
"Six sickles and eight knuts that Molly would be obsessed with the M & Ms and Lucy would be eating the Jolly Ranchers."
"What do you think Reagan would like?" There was a moment of silence.
"Screw Reagan, she's a mystery that no one can figure out. Not even Teddy. Anyways, eight sickles and twelve knuts that Aunt Hermione and Aunt Ginny would be wowed by the Sherbet lemons." Fred shrugged and went back to the bet.
"Eleven sickles that mom, Aunt Audria, and your mom would be eating the Turkish Delights."
"And Harry would..."
James drowned them out as he tried a Milkyway, already daydreaming about starting a black market business selling American sweets to Hogwarts students. Oh how loaded he was going to be...
"Woah!" A voice suddenly called out and a CRASH followed. Rose and Hermione snickered as they watched Percy and Harry try to untangle themselves from each other. It was about the fifth time they crashed into each other. Both were not in a good mood because Hermione insisted on a completely muggle experience. Meaning no using magic to make them float a couple centimeters above ice or healing their bruises.
Albus was clinging to the railing as if his lifeline depended on it while Scorpious tried to convince him to let go. Somehow Malfoy was a natural, which wasn't really fair since he didn't even know what ice skating was until today. Rose fumed about this as she tried to skate a whole lap without touching the railing. She lost her balance and was about to fall flat onto her face if not for Teddy who darted out of nowhere and caught her.
Damn those boys who were naturally good at something.
Rose always believed if you try hard enough and put enough effort into something, you'll be good at it. She always frowned upon those who were good at something effortlessly when others were trying twice as hard to receive the same outcome. It annoyed her to no ends. It was also why she was more than a little weary of Reagan when they first met.
"Rose!" A familiar voice called after her. She turned and saw Molly skating over to her, albeit a little wobbly. Of all the different people in her large family, Molly was the one who understood her the most. Both had an younger sibling and a certain thirst for knowledge. Not to mention a secret crush on Oliver Wood, one of the most famous quidditch player ever. They were both a sister, a student, and a fan girl.
"Come on! We can hold hands and help each other try to stay on balance. And try to beat those boys who are good at everything." Rose grinned and nodded to Molly's suggestion. See what she meant about Molly really understanding her?
The linked hands and skated, laughing when Rose nearly pulled Molly down with her when she lost her balance. The posed as Hermione pulled out a muggle camera from her bag and snapped pictures of them (and of Percy and Harry crashing together again. She also got a picture of Albus and Scorpious lying in a heap on the ice. Apparently Scorpy had managed to coax Albus to let go of the railing. Al fell and knocked over Scorpy in the process, landing on top of said person. Both their faces were bright red.)
"Try this one." Reagan emerged from a rack of clothes holding a sleeveless, blue blouse with a silver belt going through it and four silver buttons on top. Victoire took it from her and held it up in front of the mirror.
"Oh, wow! This is incredible! Maybe you were right. Blue is totally my color." Then she dashed into a dressing room nearby to try it on.
Ginny emerged from another dressing room. "I don't know about these trousers. They're awfully tight." She turned in front of the mirror to see how it looks from the back. Angelina looked at her with a strange look on her face, as if wondering who would design those atrocious articles of clothing.
Reagan popped her head out of a rack full of spaghetti straps and took a look. "It's supposed to be that way. It's called a high-waisted, light blue, skinny jeans. There's also the ripped kind. And may I suggest a checkered orange spaghetti strap cropped short to go with that?" Reagan held up said clothing. Ginny went back in and tried it on, emerging a minute later.
"I kind of like it, but it's a bit revealing, don't you think?"
Reagan ran off and returned a moment later with a long coat, the thin kind so it won't be too hot. She handed it to Ginny who put it on without a moment of hesitation. "This looks pretty good but I still think the combination is a little weird combination."
Reagan shrugged, "It's fashion." As if that would explain everything. Fleur walked over with a semi-transparent white jacket over a light grey halter top and blue skirt. "It ez beautiful, Ginny."
That was all Reagan heard before Lily, Roxy, and Lucy dragged her away to investigate the oversized sweatshirts.
Dominique was helping her sister zip up the back of the blue blouse. "Why is Reagan's fashion choice better than mine?" She grumbled.
Victoire sighed. "It's not that your fashion choice is bad, but you really need to work on your color coordination. I mean, red and green? Don't ever wear that combo unless it's Christmas."
"Don't ever eat strawberries or watermelon unless it's Christmas if you hate red and green so much." Dominique shot back, feeling insulted. Victoire spun around to look at her sister.
"That's not the point!"
The three groups met at the rendezvous place at a fourth thirty. One group was lugging seven large bags of candy, the second was carrying armful of shopping bags, the last sported bruises in matching shades of green and purple.
"That is a lot of candy. Please tell me you didn't spend all your money on it?" Hermione said exasperated while all the kids looked excited.
"That is nothing compared to what the girls were up to." Teddy said quietly, eyeing the overflowing shopping bags. Hermione's eye budged out comically as he pointed at a shopping bag Fleur was carrying.
"Is that.. is that Jimmy Choo?"
"They were on sale." Dominique deadpanned.
"How did you even pay for all that?" Bill stared wide eyed. A part Veela for a wife had taught him enough about prices and famous brands to know it probably cost a fortune.
Reagan grinned proudly and held up a shiny, golden card. "Mom's emergency credit card."
"And you used that money for clothes?" Harry asked disbelievingly.
"To be fair, she did call me a fashion emergency a few weeks ago." Both Teddy and Harry looked surprised. They had always wondered about the mystery known as Reagan's mom, for different reasons of course. Every time they asked or someone brought up the topic, Reagan changed the topic or just flat out pretended to be deaf. The one time she did answer, she just pointed at the sky and said she's up there. Assuming her mom died in the war just like his parents, Teddy dropped the subject and never brought it up again.
Percy just blinked several times before clearing his throat. "Anyways, we're getting a taxi to take us back to the rented house on Long Island. When we get there, we'll give you time to unpack(their trunks were minimized and stuffed into Hermione's expandable bag with a light weight charm cast on it) and then we'll order takeout and kind of get used to American food. The candy will be divided after dinner."
The kids were excited talking about who's rooming with whom and James was telling them all about Sweet For America as the adults pulled together for a brief meeting. They had plenty of those ever since they arrived in New York, which was only a couple hours ago. But every time something does not go as planned or was different from what they imagined, they talked it over.
"So we have twenty six people and we would need...seven cabs." Audria said, calculating it in her mind.
"We're going to have at least one adult on each taxi. Try to separate James, Fred, and Louis. Now all we have to do is find seven taxis." Ginny decided, glancing around occasionally to watch over James, trying to keep her eldest son out of trouble.
"Shouldn't be hard, I mean I've already seen four go past during this meet." George look up at the road. "Make that five, there goes another one."
"It would much easier if we magicked ourselves back though. And faster. And cheaper." Ron said looking up at his wife, backing off when he saw the look Hermione shot him.
"No, Ronald. We are here for an MUGGLE experience." Then she turned around so she could address everyone at once. "Alright, we are getting seven taxis and there will be five taxis with four people and two with three people. Each group is going to have at least one adult. We will leave one by one once we call the taxis."
Seeing a yellow New York taxi go by, Hermione waved her arms but it didn't stop. It was just about to drive past them when a shrill whistle pierced the air. The car immediately stopped and pulled up to the curb next to it.
"And that is how you properly hail a cab in New York City. What? Don't look at me like that. I live here, of course I know." Reagan grinned and gave a little two fingered salute. Another thing to add to the list Teddy was making about Reagan. He briefly wondered if she lived here with her mom.
The house stood right on the edge of a beach, overlooking the sea. To the right was the woods.
The house it self was quite a sight. A three story, Victorian styled house with a blue roof and shutters, beige walls, and large windows and balconies. It also had a porch and a swing in the front garden. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a giant living room area, complete with a large screened tv, L-shaped sofa, and an oval tea table in the middle. To the right was the bathroom and staircase, which spiraled upwards. Walking pass the living room, you see the ginormous kitchen, complete with a bar. It was right next to the dining room which consisted of two tables, one for the adults and one for the non-adults(because there simply is waaaaayyyy too much people). Next to the stairs was a 'gym' supplied with different muggle machines for exercise(barbells, treadmill, etc).
The upper two floors was the bedrooms (fifteen in all). Each room was equipped with a bunk bed(or a queen sized bed for the adults), a wardrobe, a bookshelf, and a desk(because there of course was the homework). There were two bathrooms on each floor. Everything except for the bathroom, the kitchen, gym, and dining room is rugged.
So naturally there was going to be arguments over rooms that look over the ocean, who get to room with who, and sharing the bathrooms.
Oh god, the bathrooms. With the adults on one floor and the teens on another, you're going to have fifteen kids sharing two bathrooms. Talk about a nightmare.
I'd love to continue but it's already 3k words.
Next chapter would be their first night in New York. Some fighting and a new invention;)
Wait and see...
Also an advice: if you want faster chapters, review! Follow! Favorite! You know me, I don't write until I get at least one of the above. I'm dead Sirius. (Sorry I couldn't resist that pun)
