While the first plan didn't pan out like it should've the sudden change caused by sudden knowledge that Catherine's cousin, Mary, started a chain reaction that resulted in Cole accidentally killing Catherine's father, in a bid of pushing her out of the line of succession, oh, one of these days, these plans will go accordingly, and it will be for a measly adventure that Theodore could've done in his sleep, never something eventful!
In his new plan, Theodore opted to fight fire with fire, in the way of contacting an old associate.
Waiting among the pine with Mary's castle in the distance, the group of four waited, until a familiar sound echoed throughout the pine forest, and the appearance of another version of the TARDIS.
The door opened inward and a man poked his head through the doorway, wearing a bleached straw hat, sunglasses, a blue Hawaiian shirt with brown shorts, and a fake pink and red lei draped around his neck.
His brown flip flops slapped against the ground as he stepped out of the TARDIS, his hidden chocolate eyes looked between the four as they stared at him.
"Oh-ha-ho!" David goofily called out to them as he pulled down his sunglasses to look at them closely.
Theodore's miffed at the sight, calling out to David, and David explained that he had an adventure in Hawaii. When the adventure concluded, David decided to treat himself, doing what he did best, enjoying the beaches, food, basking in the sun, showing his tanned exposed forearms.
"I even did the fire torch-y dance!" David summed his experiences as he looked around, his eyes caught Catherine staring at him, leading to an exchange.
"What?" David blinked as he looked at her.
Blinking, Catherine responded, "What?"
Theodore summed that yes, this is ALSO the Doctor, don't ask, he can't bother to explain everything, besides that, they have a conspiracy to nix.
Catherine didn't buy the explanation, pointing out that none of the men looked alike, that's it near impossible for them to be one in the same.
"Princess, work with it, okay?" David silenced her disposition to the ploy, showing her his pearly whites before turning his attention to the alien that's just as confused as Catherine.
Ooh'ing, David pointed out that it's a Saturnyn, interesting, he's never seen one before.
"I don't think I had the chance, have we met?" David looked at the Saturnyn staring back at him quizzically, before saying that he did, pointing to Theodore.
Furrowing his bushy brow, David muttered that this confuses him more than it does anyone in the business.
The joy of using the same title and basically the same identity.
Maybe he should find the big book and see what some of the older Doctors said, before promptly getting bored, and tossing it back in the closet which it came.
"So, what's the hubbub?" David asked Theodore why he was called out here and Theodore tells him that they have a bit of a problem, subtly looking towards Catherine.
Telepathically, Theodore told him the gist of what happened, and David ooh'd, telling him that it's nothing unusual in his neck of the woods.
Royalty using aliens to dispose or dishonour rivals for their spots on the ladder, strange how Theodore got this adventure, though noted he was on his own adventure in Hawaii.
Hm, if he hadn't taken that adventure, Theodore and Lila would've been in Hawaii and he'd be here with Catherine and the Saturnyn.
"Since this is your speciality, we were hoping you'd help us, fast, preferably," Theodore summed why he had Al reach out to David in the first place.
Nodding, David externally replied, "Yes, yes, yes, I can do it. I'm renewed, refreshed, need to work my way back into the business."
He noticed Catherine giving him looks and he asked why she was staring at him again, only for her to say, "Again, with the eyes!"
Furrowing his bushy brow, David internally asked Theodore, "Has she done this, all the time?"
Groaning, Theodore responded internally, "Since we met!"
Shaking his head, David sighed, "Not easy being a telepath with non-voluntary muscle movement."
Frowning, Theodore added, "Tell me about it!"
Catherine's looking at them like they're crazy, Cole's having a hard time keeping up, Lila's just covering her face with her palm as she's trying to find something she balance of normality among this bizarre adventure of theirs.
"Well, I'm here, what's the plan?" David looked at Theodore for guidance and Theodore summed that they needed to lure Mary into a trap that showed her guilt and evidence that she can't explain away, the usuals.
Snorting, David swatted the air as he said internally to Theodore, "I can do that in my sleep!"
Taking off his sunglasses and sticking them in his shirt, David blinks as he pondered their options, suggesting that Mary's naturally guarded, she'll do everything she can, if she sees Catherine, she'll put on a show and a dance, doing everything to disregard Catherine's rightful anger.
Gaslight her when necessary, everything in a textbook that'll keep Catherine from realizing it.
"Hm, but if she sees you, that'll get her to open up," Theodore pointed out that David can use his looks in getting Mary into confiding in him of the conspiracy.
Snorting, David responded that he just worked on his tan, he can't possibly string along a power-hungry woman like Mary.
"Well, as I recall, Doctor, you did almost marry a queen, am I wrong?" Lila spoke up, pointing out that David isn't fooling them, he himself had run-ins of this nature, and almost married a powerful queen.
She's not happy with him leaving her, even if he warned her numerous times that he's got a girlfriend that he's loyal to, always and infinity, and he can't handle royalty, too many rules.
"I told her numerous times!" David protested that he didn't mean for it to get out of hand when it did, but he warned the queen that he couldn't marry her.
He's happily attached to Jenny.
"Yeah well, she wasn't too happy, still, if you were wondering," Lila informed David that the queen held the grudge tighter than the secret formula to Coke, because she immediately wanted to execute Theodore for breaking her heart, after hearing that he's the Doctor.
Lila had to bust him out of prison and get the hell out of dodge before the queen's men stuck them on poles.
Guess the regeneration idea wasn't too great of an idea, was it?
"Well, enough jibber jabber, what's the plan?" David looked towards Theodore.
Sighing, Theodore tells him that he plays the part of a duke who met Cole and worked into the idea that the duke wants in on the conspiracy and threatens to expose Mary unless she cuts him in.
Since David specialized in this sort, he shouldn't have trouble fitting in, luring Mary into the trap of exposure.
While David and Cole's busied, Theodore, Lila, and Catherine work their way through Mary's castle, finding the proof they need.
When the time comes, Mary plays into their hands, and they expose her treachery to the court.
"On the other hand, she'll get suspicious, on account that Catherine didn't marry him," Lila brought up that Catherine fled her forced wedding and that news traveled to Mary's ears.
Mulling it over, Cole mentioned that Mary explicitly said that she didn't care what happened to Catherine if she's out of the picture.
That said, she might get curious as to what happened to Catherine, and might even go looking for her, just to make sure that she's truly out of the picture.
"Well, let's see what we can shake out, hm?" Theodore clasped his hands together as he looked between the four, asserting that they work in tandem, they'll get this adventure done with.
First, David needed to wear something else, the outfit's a dead giveaway that something's wrong, and David agreed to change into something more fitting, his standard brown coat and blue pinstripe suit with the red and white sneakers.
Combing his chocolate hair, David went over the plan with Theodore, and once he got the idea, David and Cole went off to the castle's entrance while Theodore and Lila went with Catherine looking for a hidden entrance into the castle from behind.
Leading them, Catherine took them on a path behind the castle, it's a entangled with pine and vines, but it gave them cover as they snuck through towards the hidden entrance.
As they walked, Lila noticed the look in Catherine's eyes, and asked her what's on her mind, and Catherine exhaled sharply, as she bitterly said, "My own cousin. I treated her like a sister and she goes and does this?"
Maybe she and Mary didn't always get along, but they were blood, that should've deterred Mary from doing this.
Frowning, Lila comforted her, telling her that it happens more than she thinks, it wasn't her fault for not catching on that all's not well with Mary, she hid her intent well, and the resulting punishment for her misdeed will be her own doing, not Catherine's.
As she frowns, Catherine mournfully said that Lila's right, but she's disheartened that her childhood memories with Mary weren't what they seemed and her own cousin concocted this scheme to rid her just so she can take her place.
"Take heart, your grace, it's better you know now than later," Theodore tells her that on the bright side of things, she knows now that Mary's untrustworthy, rather than she's long since married to Cole.
Slowly nodding her head, her red hair bobbing in loose strands, Catherine agreed with the two's points, though she remained bitter that her own cousin, whom she considered her best friend and sister, to be nothing more than a two-face crone who wanted nothing more for her to wed a fish monster just to get her place.
Lila pointed out that it's a blessing in disguise, hadn't Mary tricked Cole into pursuing Catherine's hand in marriage, the plot wouldn't have become exposed as it did. Catherine would've ended up in a dungeon somewhere and they wouldn't have known, since that's not their speciality, usually.
"Perhaps, you're right," Catherine exhaled sharply as she led them through an opened passage way into the depths of the castle.
