Chapter 3: Preperations and Take-off.
On Angel Island, Knuckles had spent the night trying to figure out what was going on, and what he discovered made him so bewildered he thought he was dreaming; Wisps that he had briefly seen a few months ago in Eggman's Interstellar Amusement Park had somehow returned and were roaming around the forests and even on his island. Some were familiar that he recognized and looked somewhat confused, amazed and frightened, others that were new and some feeling the same, but some of the newer ones were like handful infants and children that were quickly driving him nuts.
Fortunately the earlier kinds of these aliens managed to somewhat get the newer Wisps to settle down and that they found places to sleep, allowing him to keep an eye on things. Thus the Guardian of the Master Emerald stayed up all night keep an eye on them while he tried to figure out what was going on, and figured that Sonic and Tails would be investigating on their own.
"Something's not right." The red echidna muttered to himself as he stared at the giant gem he dedicated his entire life to protect, his arms folded to his chest. "Why are the Wisps here? I don't like the looks of this."
"So, is it true, Knuckles?" Rouge's voice spoke from behind him, prompting the seventeen year old to turn around and found that she was hovering just above him, much to his annoyance.
"What is true, Rouge?" Knuckles responded, not in the mood in figuring out her mind games today.
"A little birdie told me Sonic and Tails planned on visiting the cute aliens' planet after their last visit two months ago." The white bat replied slyly.
"It's true. Sonic and Tails have mentioned on figuring out how to do so, especially since they can't just ask help from the new 'Jumping Wisps'." The red echidna muttered, then turned around as he shrugged while tapping his foot with his eyes closed, continuing. "Not only that, they also mentioned these Jade-Ghost Wisps that can turn you invisible. Now things have gone crazy here. The aliens came back with some new ones, and just before the Lunina Comet that's supposed to arrive-"
While he talked behind his back, he didn't realize that the jewel-thief G.U.N agent, satisfied with the information she got, smirked as she flew away before cutting him off by playfully saying her farewells. "See you around, Knuckie!"
Blinking and hearing this, Knuckles spun around to find that his rival has always flown too far and he called out in sheer annoyance. "Hey, Rouge! Come back here! You've got a lot of nerve flying off when I'm still talking! ROUGE!"
But she just flew away out of his sight, which meant that he had to go and find her and leaving the Master Emerald temporarily unattended once again. The red echidna growled in pure irritation.
"She's gonna be the death of me...!" Knuckles growled softly while clutching his fist. "Well, at least there aren't much of a way of these aliens around. Just wish Tails was here to translate on what they're saying."
Little did he know that he was in for an involuntary wild ride and adventure.
It took virtually hours for Sonic and his old Wisp friends alongside his best friends and family to round up the mischievous aliens despite that there were still quite a lot, but thankfully things went under control and once they helped out the Chaotix and most of the people in Station Square, things had finally settled down enough for the group to return home with Cream and Cheese, Vanilla, joining them and they explained the situation, while Vector, Espio and Charmy, getting a glimpse of what was going on, decided to continue helping out the city with Shadow, who left the group to their own devices, Topaz and Omega joining them.
It even had been a bit of a struggle to free the Spike Wisps, but thanks to Yacker, Cutie and Speed as well as some of the other Wisps that didn't follow Spirit's example, they managed to do it and in gratitude, the pink aliens decided to help with the clean up job while returning more of the Lunina Toys back to normal as they had spread out a little through out the city.
"...And that's why we're doing everything we can to help solve this problem by going out in finding the rest of the Wisps including Spirit." Sonic concluded the story.
"Oh, dear. That young Spirit really needs to learn quite some manners and importance." Vanilla remarked worriedly.
"Mother's right. It's not very nice of Mr. Spirit to say awful things to Mr. Yacker and their mother." Cream agreed, shocked, disappointed and sad for Spirit's actions.
"(Agreed.)" Speed nodded while folding his four tentacle-arms, still angered with Spirit's actions.
"If we can figure out where Spirit is, we might be able to talk sense into him. First we gotta make sure the Wisps are okay all over the world and the other planets that were brought back close to our world." Tails theorized, adding with determination and excitement. "If we all together, we can handle it!"
Sonic smirked. "Now that's what I like to hear. Since things are under control in town, whaddya say we start gettin' ready for our new adventure?"
"Do remember to take it easy." Jules advised.
The younger blue hedgehog gave his father a thumbs up. "Don't worry, Dad. We'll be fine."
"Cheese and I wouldn't miss an adventure like this!" Cream said excitedly as she stood up, with Cheese chirping in agreement.
"Only if your mother says so, sweetie." Bernadette said gently but also firmly, as while she already had a wonderful son and two just as loving adoptive sons, like Vanilla, the female blue hedgehog treated the rest of Sonic's close friends like her own children.
The seven year old girl nodded and turned to her own mother, asking. "Mother, would it be alright if I go out to help the Wisps with everybody?"
Despite being concerned for her daughter's safety, the older rabbit knew that her child would be safe with Sonic and everyone else, doing the right thing and having fun. "Sure, sweetie. Just don't touch any buttons in Tails' ship."
"Thanks, mother!" Cream said happily, hugging Vanilla who returned it, while everyone else watched on warmly.
"Don't worry, Mrs. V. We'll keep her safe. I promise." Sonic vowed, giving the kind family a smirk, thumbs up and a wink.
"I know you will, Sonic. My little Cream has such wonderful friends like all of you." Vanilla replied kindly and warmly, making the teenage blue hedgehog chuckle, blushing a little.
The three Wisps watched on among the Mobians as Cutie said happily. "(All of Sonic's friends and family and their families are so nice. His Mama and Cream's Mama are so much like our Mama.)"
"(Mobius sure has a lot of nice people here. Nothing like Baldy Nosehair.)" Speed nodded in agreement.
'(I wonder if Mama knows what happened. I really hope she's okay...)' Yacker thought to himself as he saw the families chat, chuckle and giggle while making plans on their adventure, the curl-headed alien thinking back on his departing words with Sonic and Tails all those months ago.
Flash-Back: During the events of "Sonic and the Power of the Wisps"...
"You take care, Yacker." The blue hedgehog told his alien friend with a smile. "Make sure you and Mom don't get separated again, 'kay?"
Yacker nodded and with a single tear formed in his eye, waved a goodbye for the final time to Sonic and Tails, and to their friends before he flew back up to reunite with his mother and family. The Mobians back in their world watched as the Wisps, including the Mother Wisp who waved a goodbye to the young heroes who have saved them all, flew back to their home planet before they all used their powers to not just magically transport Planet Wisp back to where it came from, but also Sweet Mountain, Starlight Carnival, Aquarium Park and Asteroid Coaster back to their places and galaxies in the Universe, vanishing from sight.
End of Flash-Back:
The Wisp held a look of sadness and guilt as he sighed, realizing that he couldn't keep to what he vowed and being such an awful brother for not really paying attention. '(So much for that promise.)'
He had to make it up for it, and if the Mother Wisp was missing again, Yacker had to find her, and give Spirit one scolding he wouldn't be forgetting.
A few minutes later, everyone followed Tails into the hanger of his workshop to see the ship the young fox cub had worked on for quite sometime.
"So, Tails. You sure this new ship of yours can really go into space?" Sun asked as he and the others stopped at the platform near the stairs and by the railing.
"Tada!" The nine year old simply said, switching on the lights and everyone looked up to see his latest work.
As all of the lights turned on, it revealed an enormous futuristic ship that looked like out of the futuristic space movies, only it's much more impressive. It had a plane launch platform, the main control room above the rest of the ship, and by the size of it, it was much, much bigger than the previous space ships Sonic and the others have ridden on. It was about the size of Eggman's fortress ships. While Chuck smiled proudly at the two-tailed kit, everyone else stared in awe, and Sonic let out an impressed whistle.
"Oh my...!" Both Bernadette and Vanilla muttered with wide eyes.
"It's huge!" Sun exclaimed in disbelief.
"It's so big!" Amy, Cream and Star said, sweat dropping a little at the size of the ship, thoroughly amazed. Jules and the Wisps were nearly speechless at the sight of the vessel.
"It's a multi-purpose flying fortress." Tails proudly announced at his latest almost completed creation. "I call it the Blue Typhoon, and like I said, with a few quick adjustments, it'll go into interstellar. Only..."
He trailed off as he leaned against the railing in disappointment and hopelessness, concerning his friends and family.
"(What's wrong?)" Yacker asked, concerned as he hovered over.
"I was planning on using the Chaos Emeralds as a power source, but it's going to take ages to find them again, especially with what's going on." The young fox replied. "Now what are we gonna use?"
Realizing the problem, everyone shared glances while Sonic placed his fingers under his chin and said thoughtfully. "Hmmm...You're right. I could go out and find them myself, but even I can't find them and try and help out the Wisps at the same time. Looks like we're gonna need to find something else."
"We can't use the Cosmos Sapphires since they've been missing for four months." Star muttered, thinking. Then an idea formed and said excitedly despite that a certain guardian wasn't going to like it. "Hey! I know an alternative."
She then told her friends on what her idea was.
Knuckles groaned as he had spent the last hour or so trying to find Rouge but came to accept a frustrating defeat that she was nowhere to be found and decided to head back home to Angel Island, passing by Flickies and Wisps who were still floating about in wonder, so far doing nothing at all harmful and attempted to find the Jumper Wisps in order to find their missing friends and get back home themselves.
"I shouldn't have told that batty Rouge anything." The red echidna grumbled in annoyance, kicking himself for his own ignorance.
But when he made it to shore to glide his way up to his home island, he froze to a stop and what he saw made his blood run cold; the island! It wasn't floating in air anymore! It was floating in water! And that meant only one thing and even from the distance, he could see it clearly.
"Oh no!" Knuckles gasped in horror with a sweat drop, as the top of the altar was empty! Void of his precious gem. "The Master Emerald's gone!"
It turns out that Star's idea was to burrow the Master Emerald to use it as the temporary power source for the Blue Typhoon until they could find the Chaos Emeralds or another suitable unlimited power source. So Sonic and Sun had snuck to Angel Island earlier and, having noticed that Knuckles went off somewhere and knew that he would find them, they took the giant Emerald and brought it back, placing it onto a new power altar, with Tails in the control panel above and everyone else down below.
Star and Uncle Chuck were analyzing the status.
"The readings look good, Uncle Chuck." The young fox stated, gazing at the statistics.
"I must say, this is a remarkable idea." The elder blue hedgehog stated, and Star giggled.
"The Master Emerald should give us enough power now." The lavender girl hedgehog said, just as everyone else heard rapid footsteps and turned to see, as they mostly predicted, Knuckles run up towards them as he had sensed where the gem was taken to, and he was far from happy.
The furious red echidna skid to a stop and demanded. "WHAT'S THE IDEA!?"
"We're gonna be burrowing your Master Emerald for a little while." Sonic replied as he and Sun gazed down at their friend with a smirk.
"Sorry we took it without asking, but we'll bring it back to you as soon as we can." Sun added.
"No way! It goes back where it was now!" Knuckles snapped.
"But we need it to go into Outer Space." Amy protested, confusing the seventeen year old.
"Outer Space?"
"Yacker and these Wisps need help in finding their brother named Spirit who was very naughty and is behind the situation why these aliens are here as well as the other worlds back in our planet's orbit and how to set things back to normal." Star explained as she leaped down from the altar and landed in front of the skeptical Master Emerald Guardian.
"We're going to travel all around Mobius and across the Galaxy to find and save Wisps, help find their mother and save planets." Cream explained happily. "Doesn't that sound like the best adventure ever?"
"That sounds just peachy..." Knuckles gritted his teeth, ignoring the little girl's shocked and confused expression, before he bellowed up to the two hedgehogs. "Now gimme that Emerald Sonic and Sun or I'll come up there and take it!"
Unfortunately for him, the girls in the room didn't take his attitude kindly, as Bernadette snapped in her best mother-scolding and angry tone, placing her hands on her hips "Knuckles the Echidna! Watch your tone of voice!"
Knuckles flinched in fright over the older female hedgehog's angry scolding. Not once has he ever seen Sonic's mother get so angry before. Then again, he hardly even hanged out with her.
"Why are you always so mean!? You're just like how when we were battling the Time Eater!" Cream scolded angrily, making the echidna even more nervous.
"You should really be careful with what you say, young man." Even Vanilla added in a very rare angry voice, which made the other boys sweat drop a little, and scaring the Guardian even further.
"We're dealing with a situation that's much more serious than just guarding your Master Emerald every single day! Besides, it'll be safe here with us until we get back, but until then, you'd better pay more attention and see what's really doing on, mister!" Star scolded angrily, making Knuckles hold up a hand nervously in defense.
"I have a better idea..." Amy began evilly, and when Knuckles turned to face the pink hedgehog, he had a horrible flash of deja vu which made him now utterly terrified, because she was holding her Hammer over her shoulder, with a glint in her eye. "Knuckles...Do you need a reminder like what you tried to do to Dr. Kintobor?"
Now fearing for his life, Knuckles backed away slowly as he held up his hands while Amy, Cream and Star advanced on him while the two Mobian mothers watched, and even Cutie approached to give the echidna a piece of her mind, and Jules and Chuck, both used to Bernadette's anger from time to time, along with Tails, Sonic and Sun, stayed well out of the women's wrath.
"Wait...There's no need to..." The red echidna gulped with a sweat drop, only for the three girls to pounce at on and began giving him such 'torture' that left him completely helpless that he screamed out to the younger teenager above. "SONIC! Sonic, help me, please!"
"Sorry, pal. Like I said before, I don't get involved in fights I can't win. Plus, it was your fault for making all of the girls angry." Sonic replied with his arms folded and winked at his unfortunate friend with a smirk.
"Smart move, bro." Sun commented at his brother who chuckled.
"Simple life lesson rule; Never, EVER, underestimate girls. They're sweet and kind towards many people and like guys, they have all kinds of personalities, but they're a lot stronger than many would think." The blue hedgehog said wisely. "So never make them angry, either."
The orange hedgehog snorted in amusement, gazing down at their unfortunate friend. "You'd think Knuckles would've learned that lesson by now."
"Yeah, especially with his time being rivals with Rouge." The sixteen year old said in agreement.
"I haven't seen your mother like the way she scolded your friend in years. Except it's usually either you, your father or even me." Sir Chuckles remarked with a sheepish sweat drop.
"Unc', you've really missed out a whole lot in the last ten years. But some things really haven't changed since you've been gone." Sonic chuckled at his uncle, who smiled fondly at his nephew before gently ruffling him on the head, making the sixteen year old laugh a little. "H-hey!"
"I'm just happy to see you have remained the same and have grown so much, Sonny. I've always been so proud of you." Uncle Chuck said warmly.
The younger hedgehog felt utterly touched by his dear uncle's words, before pointing out. "C'mon, Uncle Chuck. I had my friends to help me out a lot. My first adventure aside, the rest of them had me meet everybody else and to a certain extent, led me to bring you home. Together we're all a team, a huge family."
"It was still you that brought all of us together...and uh...well, me into existence and made a real Mobian." Sun pointed out with an affectionate smile.
Sonic smiled at his Uncle and brother before suggesting. "Anyway, while this is starting to get pretty mushy while Knuckles is busy being clobbered by the ladies, we should get things ready and help Tails to finish up the Blue Typhoon."
"Speaking of Knuckles, we're gonna be dragging him along for the ride?" The former Werehog smirked.
The three hedgehogs gazed down below and found that the red echidna was left still being scolded and with Amy making threats to the point that she and Cream suggested that if he wanted to be with the Master Emerald so much he should join them to help find the Wisps and help the aliens that needed to be saved and talk sense into those who followed Spirit's lead, to which Knuckles sighed with an expression that said that he was stuck.
"Looks like it to me." The hero of Mobius smirked in return.
After Knuckles reluctantly agreed to help, the heroes and their families got to work where Tails explained what was needed to help finish the parts as much as possible. At one point during the time period for the rest of the day, the nine year old fox was explaining the blueprints and designs to Sonic who, while trying to understand but held a look that said he didn't have a clue, just nodded as he tried to make sense of it.
During that time, Tails also handed three more CWS to Amy, Star and Knuckles while he and Sonic already had their own to help communicate with the little aliens a lot easier.
A little while later, everyone got to work in adjusting the much needed material, with Knuckles and Sun carrying heavy metal parts carefully, yet Sonic, being the speedy hero that he was, ran past them also carrying the heavy equipment with ease, and Speed the Wisp being the transport of teleporting parts, much to the duo's annoyance with the red echidna growling while muttering 'show-off' under his breath and the orange hedgehog shaking his head.
While this was going on, Tails was with Star at the control panel with Yacker and Uncle Chuck helping out, and at the same time, Amy, Cream, Cheese, Vanilla, Jules, Bernadette and Cutie were gathering food and supplies and other important things for the trip.
By the end of most of the day in the late afternoon, everything was all set and Team Sonic was ready to go. Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Cream and Cheese, Sun, Star, Yacker, Speed and Cutie were now facing Jules, Sir Charles, Bernadette, and Vanilla as they were saying their goodbyes.
"Well, the ship's all ready. Now we just need to take off and we'll be on our way." Tails announced.
"Guess you kids will be heading off then." Jules responded, with a hint of sadness but knowing that his sons and their friends would be alright, as both Bernadette and Vanilla were tearful despite the warm and encouraging smiles.
"Don't sweat it, Dad. We'll be okay. I promise." Sonic replied, winking at his father.
"Be safe on your journey, sweeties." Bernadette said, trying hard not to cry, but she couldn't help it. Despite that her child-children she reminded herself, had always gone on many adventures and have returned and lived happily and a few weeks ago aside, things had been very peaceful, as a mother, the female blue hedgehog would always worry about her sons.
When the sixteen year old hero saw the tears, and Amy muttered the kind adult hedgehog woman's name, Sonic reached out to gently wipe away his mother's tear. "Aw, c'mon, Mom. No tears, 'kay? It's not like we've gone on adventures before. I know you're worried, but it's going to be alright."
"Sonic's right, Mom. We'll be back before you guys know it and we'll visit Green Hill Zone afterwards." Tails added, turning to his best friend/big brother. "Right, Sonic?"
"Totally and Absolutely!" The hero of Mobius winked, liking the idea.
"We'll miss you, Mrs. Hedgehog, but we'll be fine." Amy reassured kindly, and Bernadette nodded, feeling better as even both Sun and Star nodded in agreement with the other three Mobians.
"Just be careful out there, and have fun." Vanilla said, hugging her daughter who returned the embrace.
"We will. Goodbye, mother." Cream replied, as she and Cheese nuzzled into her mother's chest.
"Best wishes on your journey." Uncle Chuck said, as he, Jules and Bernadette gave Sonic, Sun who were both little embarrassed, and Tails a warm farewell hug, along with Amy and Star, while Knuckles and the Wisps waved, with the aliens having warm expressions to see how close the two families were to each other.
Once that was done, and everyone sharing a final goodbye, Sonic and his group waved before heading inside the ship to prepare for their launch, and Knuckles, being known to control the Master Emerald due to his ancestry of his people's pasts and being the only one able to do it, headed into the control room where the giant gem was with Star, and everyone else headed into the cockpit with Tails at the main pilot seat, with Amy taking the co-pilot seat, and Sonic, Sun, Yacker, Speed, Cutie, Cream and Cheese settling themselves on the floor, waiting for the lift-off.
With the Master Emerald safely locked in the engine where no one could steal it in case the engine shut down, it was safe and only accessible for Knuckles to get close to until this adventure is over. It was also agreed that they would go out to find the Chaos Emeralds during their quest, just in case.
"Ready when you are, Captain." Sonic half-jokingly spoke up to Tails who blushed a little, before resuming his work and preparing the systems.
After pressing two buttons for the final check up, he spoke to Star via comminucation link. "The main engine's ready. Connecting to the Master Emerald. You copy?"
Star could see the power going up and reported. "Main engine is now connecting to the Master Emerald, Captain Tails."
She then turned to Knuckles and called up. "It's all yours, Knuckles!"
Knuckles nodded, standing in front of the Master Emerald before closing his eyes and held out his arms as he focused on the chanting spell he knew from experience, even if it had only been once, but he practiced as, being the current guardian, the power was bestowed to him thanks to Tikal's teachings.
"The seven Chaos Emeralds are the servers. Our hearts intensify their power. The controller serves to unify the Chaos. We need your great power to find the Chaos Emeralds, and to help save the Wisps and all of the worlds!" The seventeen year old chanted.
Seeing the ignition ready, Star pulled a lever and as promised, the ship began to power up. "The engine's firing up, Tails."
Outside of the Workshop, the ground begins to shake as it begins to part due to the new entrance Tails and Uncle Chuck had worked so hard on since the Blue Typhoon is massive. The latter along with the other adult Mobians stood back as the giant ship began it's launch sequence. Sonic and Cream both looked to where their families were standing safely, and while the former gave his parents and uncle a wink and confident smirk, the latter waved at her mother with a warm hearten and sad smile and the elder rabbit waved back.
"The acceleration thruster's almost charged! Take off time!" Tails reported as the gateway opens up, and he smiles while everyone else looks on excitedly when it's soon ready.
The new gate opens up as the ground breaks slightly, before the Blue Typhoon is now launching into the air and begins to fly. Everyone looked on in awe at the sight passing before them.
"Forward wing deployed!" Tails pulled one of the gear-handles as two wings on the ship extracted themselves and he smiled happily. "Alright, Blue Typhoon...here we go."
Taking off to the sky, the Blue Typhoon flies off from the ground and towards the sky as they group planned on checking up Planet Wisp first to see if everything's okay before going back and forth all around Mobius and to the other planets that were pulled in. On the ground, Jules, Uncle Chuck, Bernadette and Vanilla stoo watching the spaceship fly away with their children and their friends inside off on another journey, wishing them well.
Inside the bridge, everyone was now gathered as Star and Knuckles soon joined them, and the former hurried to the window where Cream and Cheese and Cutie were gazing out in amazement.
"Wow! Check this out!" Star breathed in awe, as this was her first time actually going up into space, plus being among the stars was a life-long dream. She then thought about her adoptive father, and what she had told him, which he wished her luck and to be careful, and smiled. 'Daddy...I wish you were here to see this. This would be much better than gazing at the stars through a telescope.'
"What a beautiful view. This is more exciting than being in Dr. Eggman's Amusement Park." Cream said happily.
"(Your planet is so pretty. I've always wanted to see it both within it and up from space.)" Cutie said excitedly, her eyes twinkling brightly.
Sonic gazed out of the window himself as he watched Mobius get further and further away, smiling warmly. "I'll never get tired of seeing Mobius from space and how beautiful it is."
"(You've seen your planet like this before, Sonic?)" Speed asked, curiously as he and Yacker hovered over to the blue hedgehog's side.
"Yep, plently of times. In every different angle, but any angle of Mobius is still amazing to see. I love it a whole lot." The cobalt speedster replied, then asked the cobalt Wisp. "Hey, not to change the subject, but I'm curious. Why do they call you Speed?"
The blue alien blushed before saying proudly. "(I'm the fastest Jumper of all Wisps! I teleport faster than the others. I'm not the fastest thing alive like you are, Sonic, but hearing your stories makes me wanna be really fast.)"
"(Speed was born with the talent of really teleporting faster than everybody else and since he reminded me of you, Sonic, it was my idea for Mama to call him Speed. I'd go for naming him after you but...we didn't want to get you two mixed up.)" Yacker explained, sheepishly.
Whistling, Sonic smirked. "Wow. Well, he is kinda like me in personality, and yeah, I already had that confusion three weeks ago. That's a pretty long timeless story. Literally timeless. Plus I think Speed suits him. He did get me to Station Square faster than the other Jumpers from before. No offense."
"(None taken.)" The two Wisps replied, sharing a high-five with the hero of Mobius who chuckled.
"Alright. Next stop, Planet Wisp!" Tails declared to everyone. "It's best to ask around there so that we can get a better idea on what happened before we search around Mobius and the other worlds."
Everyone else nodded before they flew off into the sea of stars to reach their destination and the Blue Typhoon set it's course for Planet Wisp.
Around an hour later as the Blue Typhoon cruised towards Planet Wisp while about to pass by the other familiar planets that, unlike the last time, were a bit more further away for safety measures, Sonic and his friends were all on the bridge waiting to begin their investigation on what was going on. As they flew, they decided to relax a little as they began to head over to their destination.
"This will be the first time most of us will be visiting Planet Wisp." Amy remarked from the co-pilot seat, getting more excited by the minute. "I hope it's as beautiful as you and Tails say, Sonic."
"It is, and now that Eggman's stupid construction facility's ancient history, it'll be even better than the last time. You're gonna love it." Sonic replied, lounging on the floor as he leaned against the wall just under Star's co-pilot seat. He had his eyes closed after deciding to take a short nap.
"It has been two months since the last time, so the construction site should be all gone by now." Tails stated, gazing at the three aliens who nodded to confirm it.
"(Uh-huh! Baldy Nosehair's scary place was finally taken away three weeks after you guys last visited.)" Yacker informed, much to the Mobians' relief.
"Great!" The blue hedgehog said happily, sitting up straight. "That means no horrific metal or robots to worry about, not that there were any of the latter since the last time we've been in your home."
"(I guess everything's been peaceful since your last visit, huh?)" Speed shrugged.
Sonic shrugged in return, a little sheepishly. "Yeah, we still do have some craziness here and there, but not as bad as when it comes to Eggman. Except a few weeks ago when the whole Universe and Space-Time-Continuum stuff got all messed up and we all got trapped in this white space where Time is frozen and I had to stop two giant monsters with the help of the others and two of my alternate-selves from different dimensions, even though one of them was evil due to his hard life. This all happened on my sixteenth birthday."
"(Huh?)" Yacker, Speed and Cutie blinked in confusion.
"Long story, and Sonic had to save all of us at the time as well." Knuckles groaned, shaking his head. "Ugh, I never want to go through that ever again."
"None of us do. In fact, if I ever see the giant Werehog again, it'll be too soon." Sun grumbled, rubbing his temple.
"Same here, bro. But hey, it's all in the past now. We don't have to worry about big 'ol Fuzzy. All we gotta do now as try and talk sense into Spirit and then everything should be back to normal. Easy-peasy!" The hero of Mobius reassured.
"Easy for you to say." The red echidna rolled his eyes, earning an annoyed glance from the younger teen who said nothing.
"Do you think we'll be able to talk sense into Spirit? I'm starting to worry that he's really becoming like Eggman, only...only some of the Wisps wanted us to stay with them forever." Tails asked, feeling a little uneasy about the situation, and Amy, Cream and Cheese and Star shared that feeling when they all shared glances, the three Wisps with them looked just as uneasy and guilt-ridden, Knuckles and Sun both looked uncomfortable.
Even Sonic, now that his little brother mentioned it, lost his confident smile as he lowered his gaze. "Yeah, I think we can, but to go as far as end up being like Eggman? I don't wanna have any of the Wisps to turn evil. If Spirit is going down that far...Then it's because of me."
The blue hedgehog rubbed his arms with a slight shiver which made his friends quickly worried as they gazed at him in concern. For the gentle aliens he risked his life to save, it was a terrifying thing to think that because of his heroic actions they would begin to wanting him to stay in their world. Sonic didn't want to make any enemies out of his friends. Even worse, the aliens were going up against each other which was pretty much ruining the harmony that had for generations and while it had been all Eggman's fault in the first place, the hero of Mobius still wished he could've stopped the evil scientist from going that far.
Yet if he did, then the madman would still be alive and Sonic would have to continue to fight him, thus he wouldn't be trapped in the Prison of Evil.
Then realizing he was beginning to go into the guilt-trip again, Sonic mentally shook his head and calmed down, attempting to remain positive like he always did in the past and declared. "But even so, I can handle it and with all of us together, things will be okay."
"Sonic? Are you okay?" Amy asked, gazing worriedly at her boyfriend who blinked, before realizing what she meant and shrugged.
"Yeah, I'm okay, Amy. Sure I still feel kinda bad about this whole thing, but sitting here blaming myself isn't gonna do any good, right? At least Eggman's not around to make things worse." The blue hedgehog replied.
Everyone shared glance, wondering if they were was anything they could do to prevent this from happening and began to sure both Tails' and Sonic's worries. If Spirit was starting to become like Eggman, then things were about to get more troubling than ever before.
"We'd better get to Planet Wisp, fast." Sonic declared urgently, feeling the sense of dread fill up his mind and heart while trying to remain calm, hoping that he was just being paranoid and it wouldn't be as bad as he and his little brother thought it would.
"Right! Blue Typhoon, full speed ahead!" The two-tailed fox announced, thrusting the controls to make the ship fly faster towards the familiar planet he and his older brother hadn't been to in a while.
Thankfully they didn't have to fly too far as they spotted so many familiar planets that, unlike the last time, were a bit further away for safety precautions, but still close enough to get to that wouldn't take ages. As they got closer, they spotted the familiar world that had those who had never seen it before gaze at it in absolute awe and wonder. Sonic eagerly approached the window and smirked happily, feeling utter relief to see it much better than originally before.
"Is that it?" Knuckles asked, thoroughly amazed by the sight of it.
"Wow...! That's just...whoa!" Sun stuttered in awe.
"I can't believe it! We're really here!" Star exclaimed as her eyes, as well as the eyes of Amy and Cream sparkled in awe.
"Wow! The planet looks amazing!" Amy commented happily.
"It's so beautiful..." Cream murmured excitedly at such a beautiful alien planet.
The three Wisps cheered in relief to be back home despite the situation, and Sonic smiled, before announcing to the group who had never been here before. "It sure is, Cream. Welcome to Planet Wisp."
They had finally arrived at their destination of Planet Wisp itself.
Deciding to land in a more isolated area as much as possible due to the planet being rather small, Tails had the Blue Typhoon on auto-pilot mode and have it hovering near the orbit. Knuckles and Sun both volunteered to stay behind on the ship just in case even though the orange hedgehog would like to explore it himself, while Sonic, Tails, Amy, Star, Yacker, Cutie, Speed, Cream and Cheese rode down on the X Tornado and landed just where the station of Eggman's Egg Bus used to be, the five Mobians, three little aliens and one little Chao now standing on the familiar knee-height grass and beautiful flowers, the towering giant flower-shaped trees, and such.
To make things better, there wasn't a single sight of the evil scientist's construction site. The planet had been restored to it's former glory, no signs of any human interaction.
Sonic stretched his arms out as he breathed in the fresh, clean air that was free from the pollution of the construction site and metal. "Man, I really missed this place. It feels like forever since we've last been here."
"All traces of Eggman's construction site and all the metal are completely gone. Now the world's back to the way it should be." Tails remarked happily.
"(Yup. Everything's back to the way it should be, though I am surprised on those strange lights that came by here. I wonder what could have caused it to happen?)" Yacker said thoughtfully, puzzled.
Cutie and Speed both excitedly flew around to be back home as, while Sonic's world was beautiful in it's own right, they had both been homesick so much that they were glad to be back.
"It's more beautiful when it see it up personally than up in space. Better than I thought it would be." Amy stated happily as she, Cream and Cheese looked around in pure excitement.
"Everything's so pretty here, just like a Chao Colony." Cream said, bending down to get a closer look at the alien flowers.
"Chao, Chao! Chao!" Cheese squeaked excitedly, as he couldn't wait to explore and play around here.
"It's so lovely and peaceful here." Star remarked softly, with a warm, soothing smile on her muzzle. "I'd love to spend a few weeks in a place like this."
"Tails and I have been thinking about spending at least a week here, but I guess Spirit and the other cute aliens just couldn't wait." The hero of Mobius confessed, before saying. "But I'm really concerned about everyone, especially their mom."
"We should ask the Wisps that managed to stay behind and not get caught in the teleportation Spirit asked the other Jumper and Star-Beam Wisps did." The aforementioned nine year old fox advised.
The others nodded in agreement, only for their three Wisp companions to look up in alarm and squealed in panic, causing those from Mobius to look up and see at least three Pink-Spike Wisps come charging straight towards them with their spikes aimed at the group who gasped in alarm.
"Look out!" Sonic shouted, pushing Amy, Cream and Cheese to the ground while Star and Tails dove for cover and Yacker, Cutie and Speed maneuvered out of the way, as the three hot-tempered aliens crashed into the wall just behind the X Tornado, thankfully missing it but unfortunately got their spikes and heads stuck in the rock.
The three Wisps that came with the group stared with wide-eyes before the curl-headed alien groaned in exasperation, facepalming himself. "(Ooh...Not again.)"
Sonic, sighing in relief at the close call and feeling a sense of deja vu, helped the two girls and little Chao up, asking them worriedly. "You alright?"
"Uh-huh." Cream nodded, a little shaken but not hurt.
Amy groaned just as the three Spike-Wisps, a little bit stuck, managed to free themselves and turned around, glaring at the group with distrustful looks in their eyes, and she glared at them back. "Hey! What's the idea of attacking us like that!?"
"Easy, Amy. The Spike-Wisps are just trying to protect their home. Since Eggman showed up, they're pretty suspicious with outsiders." The blue hedgehog quickly held his girlfriend back to calm her down and not cause any trouble.
"Hmph!" The pink hedgehog pouted, folding her arms in annoyance. "Did they have to attack us like that, though? I thought they would recognize you and be happy to see you again."
"Uh, well...the Spike Wisps aren't as cuddly as almost everybody else. But they're still pretty cool, though." Sonic chuckled sheepishly with a sweat drop. In truth, he had a feeling that the pink aliens would still have a hostile feeling towards those outside of this world, and while and Tails have gained their full trust, the Spike-Wisps weren't as open or careful as some of the other Wisps.
The pink Wisps were about to attack again when Yacker, Cutie and Speed flew up to them to stop them from hurting their Mobian friends and explained what was going on and that Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese were Sonic and Tails' friends and they meant no harm. Surprised and suspicious at first, the three pink aliens gazed at their two brothers and younger sister before noticing the blue hedgehog and two-tailed fox who, seeing them, waved carefully and surprise filled their senses. The three then hovered over to the two heroes and flew around.
"(Sonic? Tails? You're back?)" One of the Pink Wisps asked, surprised.
"(And you brought strangers from your world?)" The second Pink Wisp added, gazing at the three other Mobians and little Chao who chirped softly while in Cream's arms.
"(And that hedgehog like you...she's pink, just like Mama.)" The third Spike-Wisp commented, noticing the resemblence in the pink colour of Amy's fur and the color of the Mother Wisp.
"Yeah, we're here, and don't worry. These gals' and little blue Chao are our friends. We came back to help since Yacker, Cutie and Speed came to us in Mobius and told us what's been going on. Or at least their side of the story." Sonic reassured sincerely and gently.
He and the others, while Amy and the three Pink Wisps still looked at each other suspiciously and in the thirteen year old hedgehog's case, annoyance, then heard more jingling and alien babbling behind them and turned to see more Wisps, most Sonic and Tails recognized along with Amy, Cream and Cheese, the rest being completely new and still coming in hundreds, if not thousands, hovering over and peering around a little nervously at the sight of the three girls and little Chao. Yacker, seeing the problem, hovered closer to call out to them to inform them that everything's alright.
"(Everybody, it's okay! It's Sonic and Tails! They came back with friends!)" The curl-headed Wisp called out to them.
"Yacker's right. They won't hurt you, I promise. We came back to help." Sonic called out as he joined Yacker's side, spreading out his arms gently. "Remember me? It's me, your old buddy Sonic!"
Upon seeing the familiar heroic blue hedgehog who had risked his life to save theirs, the older aliens that knew him and the two-tailed fox cub immediately flew down happily with excited squeals while the younger and newer Wisps who had heard many stories of them flew down in pure excitement to finally meet Sonic and Tails. They all gathered around the group who smiled in happiness and awe, and those whom Sonic had rescued three months ago all began to hug him that he almost disappeared into the crowd of aliens, joined by Tails as the two brothers laughed and giggled, while Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese smiled warmly at the heart-warming reunion.
"Hey, guys! Ha ha ha ha ha! It's great to see you too!" The sixteen year old laughed happily, managing to hug a blue-Cube Wisp, a Hover-Wisp and a Drill-Yellow Wisp who snuggled into his chest happily, while some of the other little aliens cuddled around him and his little brother.
"Hey, that tickles! Ha ha ha ha ha!" Tails laughed as a Hazel-Purple Wisp tugged at his face playfully, and a Wisp that was just like Cutie nuzzled into his chest as well.
By then, some of the Wisps that noticed Sonic and Tails' friends flew over curiously and, sensing that they were all pure in their hearts as well, gathered around to greet them, allowing the three girls to greet them back, gently pat some on the heads or shake hands, and Cheese to quickly get along and play with them.
"Hello there. I'm Amy Rose. It's nice to meet you." Amy greeted softly at another light-yellow Wisp who blushed, and shyly handed her a flower as a welcome gift, surprising her. "Oh, is this for me?"
"(Mm-hm. It's nice to meet you, miss Amy Rose. Welcome to our home.)" The adorable Wisp replied, shaking it's head.
"Aw, you're so sweet. Thank you. It's beautiful." The pink hedgehog cooed happily, making the little alien beam happily and nuzzle it's head onto her face which made her giggle at the ticklish sensation.
"Aw, they're all so cute!" Star beamed happily.
"I think we're all going to be such great friends!" Cream said happily as she giggled. "Cheese is already having fun with them."
"Chao chao, Chao! Chao-chao!" Cheese cooed as he flew around with a Hover Wisp and two White Wisps who beamed just as happily to have a new friend to play with.
As Sonic and his group got to briefly enjoy the reunion and greetings including the newer Wisps who gathered around the blue hedgehog and two-tailed fox to finally met them, even though the spike-pink Wisps were still suspicious with the three Mobian girls but began to trust them, everyone began to settle down before they went further into Planet Wisp to greet more of the aliens that were still around even though they noticed that some were missing, and the teenage hero couldn't help but sense that there was someone else that was missing apart from Spirit even though he's never met them before.
"So, what happened? Yacker, Cutie and Speed told us that your brother Spirit and other friends wanted to 'liven things up'." Sonic asked the Wisps that were able to stay behind on this planet.
"Can you tell us anything what you saw?" Tails added.
The aliens, stunned and shocked to hear that it was Spirit who had done this, shared glances as they all realized that the bright light that shone made sense, turned back to their friends and idols.
"(We were all playing around and living happily like we normally did, though some of them asked Mama when you two guys would come back to visit and see you for the first time.)" One of the Laser Wisps answered, shaking it's head. "(It was beginning to drive some of us crazy as our new siblings wouldn't stop complaining about either wanting to see you again or see you with their very own eyes.)"
"(It's about time you guys showed up. Laser here was talking about asking Jumper-3 to take him to Sweet Mountain to eat all of the white ice creamy stuff.)" A pink-Spikes Wisp added with an annoyed look which made Sonic and Tails sweat drop.
"Sorry, our bad. We planned on coming over in a few days since Tails managed to make a space ship to take us back and forth between your world and our world." Sonic sheepishly apologized.
"We're sorry that we took so long. We really wanted to visit, but it wasn't easy since we can't teleport like all of the Jumping Wisps can." Tails added with a hint of guilt.
"(That's what Mama said, but our new brothers and sisters just couldn't wait.)" A blue-Cube Wisp sighed.
"(Then there was this light that had both Jumping Wisps and Star-Beams Wisps to combine their powers and teleport, and we saw Mama get caught into that light, and the next thing we knew, she, big brother Yacker, and almost everybody else including Cutie and Speed here were gone!)" A White Wisp explained with two more of it's kind nodding in sad agreement.
"What!?" Sonic gasped in shock, while Tails, Amy, Star and Cream gasped in disbelief, Cheese squeaked, and Yacker, Cutie and Speed nearly screamed in horror, since the rest of the Wisps also heard what happened earlier and all held sad expressions. "Even your Mom's gone missing again!?"
"(We couldn't find her anywhere, or even our friends. Then those planets appeared and even your own too. Or maybe we were all dragged close to your world again.)" A Hover Wisp nodded, before groaning. "(Ooh...! This is so confusing!)"
"(I miss Mama...I hope she and everybody else are okay...)" A little yellow-haired Wisp sniffled, before she and some of the other Wisps that missed their mother terribly and not knowing what was really going on, began to cry as Yacker and the other Wisps attempted to comfort them despite the situation, and the hearts of Sonic and his family and other friends broke into pieces.
"There, there. It will be okay." Amy soothed as she and Star tried to comfort the distraught little aliens as well. Sonic, Tails and Cream quickly joined in. The pink hedgehog then carefully cradled a Hover-Wisp into her arms and gently rocked it like a baby. "Shhhh...There, there, sweetie. It's alright."
"Aw, don't cry everybody." Cream said comfortingly. "I know what it's like when my Mama went missing too. But we've got Sonic on our side. He'll make it okay."
"Cream's right. Sonic and the rest of us will handle it." Tails said encouragingly.
Sonic nodded in agreement, gently holding a crying Hammer-Wisp in his hands and hugged it. "Shhh...It's okay. Don't worry. We'll find your Mom and bring her and all of your family and friends back home, and give Spirit a lecture. I promise."
The Hammer-Wisp sniffled, gazing up at the blue hedgehog that was holding it carefully with a hopeful look on it's expression. "(R-Really? You can do that?)"
"You bet! I never break my promises and there's no way in a million years I'm gonna start now." Sonic replied with a wink.
That cheered the Wisps up almost instantly as they began to feel better and cheered on with renewed hope that their cobalt hero was once again going to help them find the rest of the kind including their mother and the Mobians and Chao all smiled as they knew they had a lot of searching to do.
"Hey, Tails. Where's the next closest planet we should investigate and search from here?" The blue hedgehog then asked his best friend/little brother.
"From my calculations if I'm correct, the closest planet from here is Sweet Mountain." The two-tailed fox explained.
"Really?" Star asked, surprised.
"Wow! We're going to Sweet Mountain? I've always wanted to go there ever since I heard about it." Cream exclaimed happily, turning to her little Chao. "Isn't that exciting, Cheese?"
"Chao, chao!" Cheese chirped excitedly.
"(Don't worry, everybody. We'll be back as soon as we can. Just stay here and wait for us, okay?) Yacker told the rest of the Wisps who, with some hesitation and the younger ones already sad that their newest friends and heroes would have to leave so soon, but knew that, as they heard from many stories of the past, Sonic the Hedgehog always kept to his word, so they nodded hopefully.
Knowing what to do now to find the next clue on their search to find the Wisps, Sonic declared as he pointed skyward to where the Blue Typhoon floated. "All right! Sweet Mountain, here we come!"
With their next destination planned, Sonic and his companions waved a goodbye to most of the Wisps as Yacker, Cutie and Speed, the latter two deciding to keep on travelling with them to help find Spirit and hopefully talk sense into him, gave their friends a farewell, before all nine of them headed back to the X Tornado to board the Blue Typhoon to inform Knuckles and Sun and then continue their journey.
A/N: With this chapter and chapter 4 being too weird and not quite what I had in mind, I have revised them with the help of my friend TU4QU0I53T4IAN6L3, and the previous ideas have changed and may or may not be used again for the rest of this story. We'll just have to wait and see.
