Author's Note: Again, I've been stuck on writer's block, but at last I've finally posted a new chapter! Things have been so crazy and stressful I've lost desire to write besides the two previous stories I've updated lately, but now hopefully this will get me back on track.

Chapter 7: Complications.
While the Wisps are completely harmless to which the citizens of Mobotropolis began to realize that some of the strange but cute little aliens were attempting to stop the more naughty kinds from causing all kinds of trouble, the mischief Wisps were messing around under Spirit's guidance to liven things up a little. Some were messing with the stalls, others were taking away toys, and several things that reminded most of misbehaving children.
"Hey, stop that!" A book clerk snatched a book from the wooden cart he was selling books in from a Hammer Wisp. "You'll have to pay for it!"
The Hammer Wisp just laughed only for a pair of gloved hands grab it firmly but gently from the air, much to it's surprise before it was pulled towards the owner who happened to be Sonic who had seen what happened and gave it a disapproving look.
"I think you and me are gonna have to have a long talk and lecture about this later, little guy." Sonic said to the cute but naughty Wisp who blinked in surprise to see the blue hedgehog, having heard about him and squealed excitedly.
"(Wow! You're really Sonic the Hedgehog! I've heard about you!)" The Hammer Wisp exclaimed excitedly, flailing it's arms.
"Yeah, I know, but you can't just go around causing trouble just to play. It's not right." The hero of Mobius gently scolded, sighing as he then apologetically turned to the annoyed but startled book clerk who almost dropped the book he held in his hands. "Sorry about that, sir. I'll pay for any damages if there are any."
To his surprise as he had been expecting an angry yell or scolding or even just a look and words of disappointment, the book clerk just set the book down and looked ready to hyperventilate in excitement, grabbing hold of the teenager's left hand and shook it.
"I can't believe it! Welcome back, Sonic! I've always wanted to get up close and personal for you! Please, whatever you do, I know you can handle these pesky little rascals, and you can buy as many books as you want! But may I also get your autograph?" The clerk said, shaking the blue hedgehog's hand so fast that Sonic just stood there.
"Uhhhhh..." Sonic trailed off with a sweat drop, only to be nuzzled by the Hammer Wisp as it held a look of jealously, much to his concern. 'Oh man...I've really gotten myself into a huge mess this time. Well, at least it's not as bad as Eggman's attacks or anything like the Black Arms.'
This was going to take a while.
Between Sonic and his friends, first they made sure that the more behaved Wisps who had been nervous and hiding while the naughty Wisps were causing all sorts of problems, it sure was pretty challenging. Because shortly after the blue hedgehog left while giving the Hammer Wisp a lecture, joined by Speed who told his fellow alien that Spirit's views on the situation was a really bad idea, he and his friends had to go through the entire streets of Mobotropolis to sort things out with both the Wisps and the locals.
With Tails and Speed, they hurried to stop an argument between three Light-Yellow Wisps and four Red-Spiky Wisps, the latter group being among the naughty were babbling about just having fun, and the people at the Fruit Stalls watched on in confusion.
"Wait, stop fighting you guys!" Tails cried out as he and Speed quickly stood between the arguing aliens which was beginning to make him very worried. He turned to the Light-Yellow Wisps, saying. "It's gonna be okay. Sonic and I and our friends are handling the situation."
"(I can't believe you guys! Why are you following Spirit's example!? Do you realize all the trouble you're causing!?)" Speed snapped at the Spiky-Round Wisps angrily, waving his left upper tentacle-arm in a scolding manner.
The four red aliens shared a glance in confusion and shock, before one of them shrugged, saying. "(We were just playing.)"
"(It's not like anybody's getting hurt, right?)" A second red Wisp added.
Speed begged to differ. "(But you're causing a lot of damage and people here in Sonic and Tails' world won't like us at all! This is wrong!)"
While Speed was reprimanding four of his kind but in different form, the two-tailed fox turned to the owners of the Fruit stand and bowed apologetically as he felt awful for the situation. "I'm really sorry, you guys. The Wisps didn't mean it. It's just a very complicated matter that my friends and I are trying to solve. I'll help with whatever damages and costs as long as you want me to."
Despite being very annoyed with the Red-Spiky-Round Wisps, the Fruit Stall Owner could tell that the Light-Yellow ones who had been scared and had actually managed to stop the latter Wisps from stealing which lead to an argument, and sighed while running a hand onto his head.
"Well, just as long as you and your friends get the more mischief ones to stop causing trouble." The Mobian Hound said with another sigh. 'Maybe I should've done some Flower gardening like my dad, but fruit's part of my life. Then again, these little fellows are nothing compared to the thieves that stole fruit seven years ago.' He thought to himself.
"That's a promise, mister." Tails nodded, mentally sighing in relief when the older Mobian nodded back. 'Phew, that was close. Sure hope Sonic and the others are faring a bit better. Spirit has really caused a lot of problems for everybody.'
On the countary to Tail's hopes however, it wasn't as easy he had hoped it was.
With Knuckles, he went to one sector of Mobotroplis and as he went around checking up looking for Wisps, both good ones that were nervous and wondering if they could get back home to Planet Wisp, and misbehaving ones who followed Spirit's idea of 'livening things up' which was making his completely complicated and then some. The red echidna raced around and helped out a couple of Wisps who looked nervous upon seeing him, but when the seventeen year old informed them that he was a friend of both Sonic and Tails and even to Yacker, they relaxed a little and decided to help him out as well.
But as he came to a building, suddenly the Guardian of the Master Emerald found himself drenched when a water balloon came falling from the sky and hit and broke apart on his head, soaking him.
"GAH!" Knuckles gasped and gurgled for a second, before growling angrily and glared up above him. "Hey! Who did that!?"
There was a mixture of laughter coming from both a Jade-Ghost Wisp and a Mobian six year old Wolf boy who, having been aqcuinted with the little alien and being naughty himself, and the two, from the boy's window of his apartment, shared a high-five with the Wisp, while two other Wisps, a Cube Wisp and a Laser Wisp, saw what happened and flew down while trying to politely gesture a towl hanging on a clothes hanger and at the wet and irritated echidna who growled for being the unfortunate victim of a prank to a female older Mobian Wolf who saw what happened and gasped.
"Jamie! How many times do I have to tell you to stop dropping water balloons on people!?" The wolf shouted angrily to the little boy, who along with the Jade Wisp gulped before he retreated back into his room and closed the window while the little alien flew away, the female wolf obviously being his mother.
Sighing while kindly allowing the two other more polite Wisps to take a dry towel she'd just taken from the line and hovered over to Knuckles, offering the material to him.
"Uh...Thanks." The red echidna muttered, taking the towel a little hesitantly, but when he saw the apologetic looks on the two small aliens who looked just as annoyed, he relaxed and began drying himself off.
"(We're really sorry about our friends. We have no idea what's going on.)" The Cube Wisp said with a sad look in it's three eyes, lowering it's gaze. "(But I bet it was Spirit since he's been having so many bad ideas lately.)"
"(I told you something was wrong with him! He's been going all nutsy for weeks now!)" The Laser Wisp grumbled, shaking it's head with a shrug.
"Yeah, you're about that. Sonic and Tails are-" Knuckles began while drying himself off, only to interrupt himself when he realized what he heard and demanded in shock and disbelief. "Wait, did you say Spirit's gone crazy for weeks?"
"(Yeah. Three in fact.)" Said the cyan alien, who, along with the blue alien, were unaware of the alarm bells going off in the red echidna's mind.
The more he thought about it, the more Knuckles realized the timing of it can't be just a coincidence...or could it?
This was going to be a major investigation and serious problem.
With Sun and Ghostly, they were above buildings as the orange hedgehog was using his grapple hooks to swing across poles and such while making sure that the mischief Wisps weren't causing too much trouble, only to find something a little disturbing and shocking.
While some Wisps were surprisingly guiding the bewildered citizens out of the way, tons of Hammer Wisps as well as the Star-shaped Wisps-what did Tails call them again? It was at the tip of Sun's tongue-somehow managing to gather lots and lots of hot dogs, piling them up to make a GIANT hotdog with several buns to make a giant bun, dribbled with lots and lots, and LOTS of Chili sauce to make a huge food-like monument in the middle of the street between the buildings as well as blocking the view of the castle ruled by the royal family.
"Ugh...That's so totally Sonic's wish come true. Just hope those guys don't end up making that giant chili dog come to life like the food monsters on Sweet Mountain." Sun groaned, shaking his head in exasperated dismay despite that it did look delicious.
"(I think we should take that with us back to Sweet Mountain when we find the portal back to the others.)" Ghostly sweat dropped at the mere sight of the giant food that her siblings and fellow Wisps had managed to create. Then again, it was the work of the Star-Beam Wisps who had the power to make simple and certain wishes come true.
To add it all up, the Star-Beams then flew all around the self-made giant Chili dog spreading light from their Wisp power which somehow merged both the thousands of freshly cooked hot dogs and buns all together, becoming an actual real giant chili dog which had spectators stunned with shock and awe that even both Sun and Ghostly were thoroughly amazed by this incredible power.
That was very impressive.
Then...disaster struck, as while the Wisps that created the giant chili dog celebrated in hopes to lure Sonic in to take him home with them, the enormous food suddenly began to fall to the ground and towards the citizens who all gasped in horror and began to scream, running out of the way, much to the horror of both the Hammer Wisps and Star-Beams Wisps, and both Sun and Ghostly who squealed in terror.
"OH NO!" Sun shouted, his eyes wide as he knew that there were about to be casualties, just as Ghostly, with desperate thinking, flew over to the giant food that was about to crush the people down below when she suddenly used her power of ghost and merged right into the huge type of food to turn it into a harmless spirit form.
Just as Sonic arrived after helping out throughout the city, and he gasped in horror to see what was going on.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The blue hedgehog screamed, racing over to rescue as many people as he could, relying on his speed to get them who couldn't run fast enough out of the way just inches before the giant chili dog was about to crush him when he moved the last Mobian in danger to safety.
"SONIC, LOOK OUT!" Sun exclaimed in horror, quickly using his grapple hooks to swing by and hoping that he wasn't too late.
Sonic just had moments as when he saw the transparent giant food source about to crush him, he squeezed his eyes shut while bracing himself as the Wisps above, horrified by their own actions, hurried down below to move other people even further back just in case and moved to help the hero of Mobius. Thankfully, Ghostly's powers made the giant chili dog harmlessly land on the ground and through the teenage hedgehog who only felt a tingly feeling but no crushing pressure, before being swooped up by his former clone who swung back to the safe distance.
"Thanks, Sun!" Sonic cried out gratefully, holding onto the former Werehog to make sure he didn't fall.
"You should be thanking Ghostly too, since she's the one who made that giant chili dog see-through or whatever she did to it." The tangerine hedgehog pointed out, before he and his brother landed safely on the ground and carefully put the latter down. "You okay?"
"Yeah. Boy, that was a close one." The cobalt hedgehog replied with a sigh of relief.
They and everyone else then looked up to see Ghostly emerge from the giant chili dog which returned to normal...like actual normal since due to her presence, it shattered and turned into normal freshly cooked thousands of chili dogs which rained down and even landed in the hands of surprised citizens who weren't expecting that or getting food for free. Sonic even caught two as did Sun, while Ghostly, who hovered over, also caught one by surprise as she gazed at the food curiously.
"Well, uh...heh heh heh..." Sonic chuckled awkwardly. "That's one way of celebrating the Food Festival and putting up a good show."
"The Food Festival? Who'd come up with that?" Sun asked with a look that translated 'seriously?' on his face.
"It's one of the Mobotropolis traditions that's been going on for at least 60 years. Something to do with somebody coming up with the idea just for the fun of it and everybody including the royal family before the current ruler's time agreed to it." The sixteen year old explained. "I wasn't always able to come here, but my parents and I did manage to celebrate it at Green Hill."
"With Chili Dogs, right?" The former Werehog deadpanned, prompting his brother to shrug sheepishly.
"Anyway..." Sonic decided to ignore the question out of embarrassment and turned to Ghostly, saying gratefully. "Hey, Ghostly. Thanks for saving everybody here including me. I'm really proud of you."
"Same here. That was real quick and smart thinking." Sun added, a bit miffed but decided to forget about the awkward conversation later.
"(Awwww...I just wanted to help.)" Ghostly replied, blushing cutely over the compliment her new friends had given her. The two hedgehogs chuckled, then heard more alien-like squeaks and babbles which had them and their companion to turn to the group of Hammer and Star-Beams Wisps who, only now realizing what they had done, hovered over regrettably to the trio who frowned in disappointment and anger.
"As for you guys..." Sonic began firmly, handing over his chili dogs to Sun who made an 'omph' and 'Hey!' sounds, the blue hedgehog folding his arms. "While what you tried to do was a surprise and pretty impressive, it was also very dangerous. People could've gotten hurt with that giant chili dog."
The Wisps only just hovered with guilty looking expressions as they hadn't meant to cause harm. They just wanted to show their blue legendary hero they had heard stories from their older siblings and mother and, following Spirit's lead in making things better for everything, had wanted the hedgehog to come with them for the rest of his life but by the look of disapproval and anger, they only just made things even worse.
"I know that we're friends and I don't want to make enemies out of the people I care about which includes all of your kind, but this can't go on any longer. Not only Spirit has taken things too far, but I'm very disappointed in each and every one of you who had believed that his ideas were good." He continued, and while he felt guilty for speaking out like this, especially to the gentle and sweet little aliens he risked his life all those months ago to rescue, he had to be clear with them that things cannot be taken for granted or people being forced to do things against their will.
"(Sonic's right.)" Ghostly agreed, hovering to her brothers and sisters, adding with sympathy. "(Mama and big brother Yacker wouldn't want any of this to happen at all. Spirit is just doing things that would only get worse and not better. You gotta stop all of this and know that everything in Sonic's world is different to our home. We shouldn't be doing things to worlds that we want. It isn't fair.)"
She then sniffled, a couple of tears then leaking as she remembered what Sonic told her earlier. "(Mama and Yacker won't want Sonic and Tails to stay with us forever. It isn't right at all.)"
Realizing that the Jade Wisp was right as they had been told time and time again by the Mother Wisp that both Sonic and Tails belonged in Mobius, that this world is their home where they were both born in, the two types of Wisps shared a regretful glance before bowing their heads very low to Sonic, Sun and even the crowd who, not sure what was going on, listened in and were shocked to see that they hadn't meant any harm at all.
"(We're very sorry, Sonic! We didn't mean cause problems!)" One of the Hammer Wisps wailed.
"(We didn't want anybody to get hurt! We just wanted some fun! But we were wrong to follow Spirit's example!)" Another Hammer Wisp added, crying it's eyes out.
"(We made you the giant Chili Dog hoping you could come with us and as a thank you!)" A Star-Beam Wisp cried and sobbed.
"(We're really, really sorry, Sonic! Please don't hate us!)" A second Star-shaped Wisp wept.
As the other Wisps that had caused trouble apologized profesly and frantically, crying their eyes out which even though some of the citizens were upset as they didn't understand why these aliens had their sights on the famous young hero Sonic the Hedgehog, he, Sun and Ghostly all felt their hearts sink despite that Spirit has caused a lot of problems, while the other Wisps who, being the more behaved ones, hovered over and saw what was going on, all lowered their gazes in guilt since they wanted to go back home to Planet Wisp.
Sighing as he knew that it was going to be more difficult than he thought, Sonic then said softly. "Hey, it's alright. You guys just didn't know and I totally understand how you like me so much, considering how I saved the Universe from Eggman. You just gotta be a lot more careful while you're here. Everything will be okay, just promise me that you won't cause any more trouble."
Sniffling as they saw that the blue hedgehog held a forgiving expression in his eyes and a warm soft smile, the mischief Wisps sniffled and shared a glance, then, remembering how this mess started with their brother Spirit who had been acting very strange lately, nodded with a promise that they will, even making comments about fixing up the damage they made.
"(We promise!)" The Wisps declared, before hugging the sixteen year old who laughed while quickly regaining his balance before he would end up falling over. Sun just snickered while shaking his head, and Ghostly giggled at the adorable sight, just as Tails, Speed and Knuckles, having heard commotions on what was going on, arrived and saw what was happening.
"Is everything okay?" Tails asked hurriedly as he and the others rushed over to Sonic's group.
"Y-yeah, everything's fine now." Sonic chuckled, as he carefully pushed away the Wisps, then remembered what they said and informed them. "But you know, you didn't need to try and make me a giant chili dog to show your gratitude. Your, uh..." He trailed off a bit awkwardly, before finishing with a smile. "Smiling...faces(?)...are all the thanks that I need."
"(A giant Chili dog?)" Speed asked, dumbfounded.
"These little guys tried to create one with at least a thousand of the food but didn't go so well. If it weren't for Ghostly using her power to...well, turn it into a food-ghost or illusion or something, Sonic would've been squashed flat like a pancake." Sun explained, which made the Wisps who caused the problem to flinch and lower their gazes, still feeling guilty for their actions.
"Wait!?" Tails exclaimed in shock and horror.
"It's okay. Ghostly and Sun saved me, and nobody got hurt. 'Cause then the giant chili dog collapsed and turned into thousands of normal sized ones." Sonic quickly reassured, while deep down, even as the crowd watched on and feeling like they were reconsidering their thoughts over him, felt incredibly guilty for what was happening.
"That explains why everyone's holding chili dogs." Knuckles remarked, before shaking his head in exasperation. "But why am I not surprised? You did dream up in having a giant chili dog, right?"
The blue hedgehog shrugged. "Yeah, but I didn't think it would actually happen in reality. Besides, even I know that it'd be way too big for me to eat without getting the mother of all stomach aches."
"I'm surprised you don't get any stomach aches by the way how you eat normal sized ones without any trouble, considering how many you can have." The red echidna deadpanned.
"Har dee har har." Sonic deadpanned immediately back.
Sighing as he and his friends then heard someone attempting to speak up, the group turned to see and then remember, much to their horror, that there was still a crowd of people here which made the young heroes and the Wisps worried. Sharing a glance as the hero of Mobius now felt incredibly guilty for the situation while knowing that he and his friends had to find the portal and get back to Sweet Mountain in order to return it to normal. In fact, he was now getting increasingly worried about Amy, Star, Cutie, Lily, Cream and Cheese as they had no idea where Team Sonic were, and were still under threat of the Food monsters...
And the red alien monster that resembled to one of Sun's enemies Zomom.
'Oh no! Amy, and the girls! They're in danger! We've gotta get back and save them before it's too late!' The blue hedgehog thought frantically, his heart dropping as wild and horrific thoughts filled his mind. 'What if they were captured by the food monsters and taken to their king? What if they got stuck in a giant pie? Or worse, if that red alien guy finds them? Oh, Chaos, please let them be okay...!'
On top of everything else, no one in the crowd had said anything, or even made any attempts to make interruptions. Swallowing nervously as while Tails found himself clinging onto his arm while the Wisps, even Speed, hovered behind Sonic despite that some were ready to try and apologize, given the angry looks on the people's faces, Sun and Knuckles both on edge, Sonic sighed as he felt a case of deja vu, bidden memories from five months ago ringing in his mind...back in Holoska.
Flash-Back: During the events of "Sonic and the Werehog"...
"HE COULD'VE AT LEAST PREVENTED IT!" The old man, Joseph, pointed out, and Sonic felt a huge stab of guilt in his entire torso, like a giant sword plunging straight through. "I'm sick of having to rebuild my house ever since the Yeti has started to terrorize our village! This is the last straw!"
End of Flash-Back:
'This is all my fault. Why didn't I stop Eggman before he captured the Wisps and their home planet? I've spent two months wallowing in my guilt that I've wasted time in not going out to find him...and even if I did, Mobius would've still been in danger by now...' Sonic thought to himself, biting his lip as he tried to force back his emotional feelings. He was scared. Not just for himself, but for his friends and family, and all of the Wisps.
Steeling himself for being yelled at, blamed for this mess, things thrown and tossed at him, maybe even having an arrest warrant despite that these aliens were so gentle even through Spirit's really bad ideas, the teenage hedgehog stepped forward before pausing and gazed at the crowd, swallowing the lump that formed in his throat. He managed to hide it, but he felt weak in the legs.
"Everyone, please. Hear me out. I know that things have been confusing and nearly disastrous, but you've gotta understand. These aliens are nothing like what happened with those black creatures several months ago. The Wisps are gentle and kind, some of them just don't understand how things where here in Mobius, and the reason this start is because...is because I saved them from Dr. Eggman's evil scheme three months ago. Like the Mobinis, he was using them for his robots, holding their planet hostage before an explosion destroyed him." Sonic explained, rewriting history a little as he didn't want to reveal how the evil scientist really died.
Sighing, he continued. "I'm really sorry for this mess. My friends and I are doing everything we can to set things right. Just please, don't be mad at them. They didn't mean for any of this to happen. If anything, it's all my fault that I failed to stop Eggman. For that, I...I am deeply sorry." He bowed his head, his heart aching in guilt.
"Sonic..." Tails murmured worriedly, his lips trembling as he, Knuckles and Sun couldn't help but dread for the worst. The whole situation was beginning to have Sonic reduced to back to how he felt almost half a year ago due to Eggman's actions, and even worse, the evil doctor was gone and he wouldn't be able to pay for his crimes he committed here in Mobius. On top of that, they began to fear on what would the public's reaction would be to the teenage hero explanation as well as blaming himself for what has happened.
The crowd, stunned by the planet's defender's confession, shared glances before one of them, a male Mobian Geko, was about to approach when Tails, gasping softly and fearing for the worst, quickly ran over and stood in front of his older brother with his arms spread out.
"Wait, don't! Don't hurt him! It wasn't Sonic's fault! He was just trying his best to make things right! All of the blame was really onto Dr. Eggman! The Wisps just like Sonic that some of them wanted to make things more interesting without realizing the consequences of what could really happen!" The two-tailed fox exclaimed pleadingly, much to Sonic's shock as he stood up.
"Tails! No!" The blue hedgehog cried out, fearing for his little brother's safety.
But the young cub ignored him and continued. "Some of them didn't even want this to happen. These aliens are scared! Please, don't hurt them, or Sonic!"
"(We're really sorry. Please don't hurt our friends.)" Ghostly pleaded, trembling herself as she nervously hovered beside the nine year old kit, the sixteen year old hedgehog, and even both the former Werehog and the seventeen year old echidna, even Speed and some of the Wisps who had caused this mess held guilt-ridden and tearful looks in their eyes, stood beside the teenage hero to defend him.
"Calm down, kid. Why would we want to hurt Sonic or any of you?" The Geko surprisingly informed the two-tailed fox calmly. "I was about to say that we're not mad."
"Huh?" Sonic and his friends blinked in surprise, and were even more so then they saw that the crowd didn't even look that angry or furious at all.
"Sonic the Hedgehog, it's an honor to see you again and, considering how these aliens, while some of them are rather mischiveous, they're not hurting anyone and even those who nearly caused people to get hurt had quickly saved others after realizing their mistakes." He continued, smirking. "I think they're more like naughty children than anything else. Plus you have come to try and solve this problem, and that is good enough for me to say that this wasn't your fault."
"Personally, I think these little aliens are adorable." A female Mobian Parrot agreed, smiling warmly as she gestured at a white Wisp. "This one even helped to retrieve my purse for me, the sweet little thing."
"Plus there wasn't too much damage and, well, they did make up by getting people out of the way, and given us all Chili Dogs which is a great way to celebrate this year's Food Festival." Another Mobian agreed, and soon the crowd, though some were quite annoyed with the mess the naughty Wisps had cause, all gave out their agreements of the gentle aliens playful personalities and kindness.
So much so that Tails began to smile happily, Speed and Ghostly beamed with excitement, the 'naughty' Wisps stunned that they weren't in that much trouble, and Sun and Knuckles relaxed, while Sonic, his eyes widening in disbelief which soon grew into relief, felt that things were somewhat okay and smiled, sighing. All thoughts of negativity soon drained away from his mind and he was glad that no one would get into further trouble. While he still had to find Spirit to make the Jade-ghost Wisp to understand and return the other planets back to normal by finding the Lunania Comet shards and putting it back together, warmth and relief washed over him once more.
Maybe things won't be so bad with the Wisps being here in Mobius for a while after all. Even just for a visit.
Back on Sweet Mountain, Team Rose, coursty of Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese, along with Cutie and Lily, had ventured through the opposite side of Sweet Mountain searching every nook and kranny to find the Lunania Comet Shard as well as saving more Wisps from the clutches of the Food Monsters that were created and had began taking over the world that once had nothing but sugar, now had salt and vegetables everywhere as far as the eye could see, with the exception of the Jelly Castle.
"HAAAAAH!" Amy yelled loudly as she thrust her Piko Piko Hammer at a Carrot Monster that stood in the way, knocking it back flying and crashing right into four other food monsters like bowling pins. "Take that, you annoying Food Monsters! Don't get in our way!"
'This is so frustrating! How much longer will this go on!?' The pink hedgehog thought to herself, as she charged once more and leaped up into the air just as the food monsters she hit looked up before they sweat dropped worriedly. With a battle cry, the thirteen year old thrust her weapon several times that the food monsters had turned into mulch and mush.
Star in the meantime somersaulted over a mutant cracker before she performed a series of punches and kicks with her martial arts skills, kicking it right in the face before she punched another to her left. The lavender hedgehog then stood on both hands and spun-kicked at more incoming enemies before standing up and gave a grape monster an upper cut with a battle yell.
"Yeah! I still got it." She said to herself proudly, flipping back her quills with a smirk.
Cream and Cheese in the meantime, despite being young, were handling things surprisingly on their own like they had when they teamed up with Amy and Big a long time ago. The little rabbit girl flew up high to avoid in getting caught by a bread-roll monster, and with a yell she sky-dived right towards it's head, stomping it in the face where it gave out a pained cry which made her feel a bit guilty before she landed on the ground as it disappeared and noticed three more charging straight towards her.
"Cheese! Let's go!" The seven year old cried out, and her Chao friend nodded with a chirp as he curled up and with a yell, she tossed him like a bowling ball as hard as she could.
The little Chao spun like how Sonic, Tails, Shadow and Sun use Spin Dashes and Homing Attacks, rapidly knocking back the food monsters who couldn't stop him or even do anything much in time, hitting the ground hard while vanishing and/or dazed and out of battle. Cheese then stopped and uncurled himself, flexing his arms as much as he could while chirping in victory and strong determination.
Cutie and Lily in the meantime, the former being scared by the Food Monsters but tried her best to help out, both flew upward just as two Corn-Cob Monsters attempted to grab them only to crash and collide into each other, before Lily glowed bright purple and transformed into a lavender-misty wave that is transparent, flow underneath the enemies so quickly that they ended up flipping upward and crashed back onto the ground in an humiliating defeat.
"(T-Take this, you big m-meanies!)" Cutie shouted as bravely as she could, glowing in an almost pure white glow while she then transformed into a flowing twirl, almost like a golden ribbon, before knocking down as many as she could which surprisingly caught the Food Monsters she was dealing with off-guard and they ended up becoming dizzy while being spun around and around until they fell to the ground, defeated and unconscious.
With their opponents defeated, the girls, Wisps and little Chao cheered on with high-fives, before the Wisps that they rescued came over and huddled and hugged them.
"Oh, you're welcome...ha ha ha ha ha! You're all so cute!" Amy giggled, her heart warmed up. She really loved the Wisps and fully understood why Sonic and Tails deeply cared for them so much. They were like adorable alien versions of Chao.
"We're so glad that everybody's okay." Cream said to two Drill Wisps who beamed happily at her.
"Chao, Chao, Chao!" Cheese squeaked, shaking hands with three white wisps who liked him instantly.
"Well, now that everybody's here and safe, we'd better get back to finding the Lunania Comet Shard." Star announced, before placing a finger to her cheek in deep thought. "Though the question is, how much closer are we into finding it?"
This brought everyone else back into the reality of the situation and all shared concerned glances before they looked around their surroundings, which they had found themselves in an area with giant peapods with peas sticking out as though they had been opened already. They had been traversing the opened area earlier before finding themselves in this place, which felt really weird for them, especially the girls and Chao from Mobius.
"It's gotta be around here somewhere. Sweet Mountain is so big that it might be easy to get lost." Amy grumbled, placing her hands on her hips in annoyance. More than anything, she was worried about not only Team Sonic, especially her heroic boyfriend, but also all of the Wisps while wondering what had gotten Spirit to go through such a stunt that was putting everybody's lives in the entire universe at unnecessary risk.
"Maybe we should call Mr. Sonic and the others and ask them if they found anything yet." Cream suggested thoughtfully.
"It might help, considering how they're at the opposite direction from where we are." Star agreed.
"(But how do we do that? They're so far away.)" Cutie pointed out, worriedly, looking around nervously. "(And what if we end up caught by more of those awful monsters?)"
"(Calm down, Cutie. We just have to be really careful, is all.)" Lily reassured, gently patting her sister on the back to give the Light-Yellow Wisp as much support as she could offer.
"Only one way to find out. I'm gonna call Sonic and see if he and the guys have found anything yet." Amy declared, reaching for her WCS that Tails had given her, only to stop short when suddenly she and her friends heard some kind of chilling sounds heading straight towards them. "Did you guys hear that?" She softly asked, suddenly nervous.
The group listened in very carefully as the sounds were haunting and terrifying, which made them more and more nervous.
"I'm not liking the sound of this." Star whispered, afraid to raise her voice just in case.
"(Amy...I'm really scared.)" Cutie shivered as she floated over to the pink hedgehog.
"Me too..." Cream whimpered, standing very close to her surrogate big sister while holding the frightened Cheese in her arms.
As the group attempted to listen into who or what was coming, they then turned to their left and gasped when they saw, to their horror and shock, ghostly figures of terrifying figures search through the area, and the lavender hedgehog girl's eyes widened in sheer terror, softly gasping. While they were almost completely invisible, they reminded her too much of the Deadly Three, evil Zeti that were forced to work for Dr. Starline four months ago.
While they seem to be unaware of the three Mobian girls, the little Chao and even the Wisps, Amy's group felt a sense of aura of wrongness creep across their skin that began to crawl. Yet what Amy, Star, Cream and Cheese didn't see was that Cutie, Lily and the Wisps all around them could see more than just the scary images that seem to be looking for something. Their eyes widened as they saw trapped figures of more Wisps within these new evil aliens, having trance-like expressions in their eyes.
"Quick, let's run before they spot us!" Amy whispered urgently, taking hold of Cream's hand and carefully holding Cutie before they, Cheese, Star and Lily along with the other Wisps who, fearing what would happen and not certain who these new horrible enemies that held their friends trapped where, quickly made a run for it as silently as possible.
Unaware of what was really going on.
"Do you see any signs of Roller yet?" One of the terrifying new aliens muttered, in a young male voice.
"Not yet. He can't be too far." Said the second, sounding all raspy.
"Do you think this could lead Sonic the Hedgehog into joining us?" Asked the third, sounding a bit deep but not as deep as their leader.
"Have faith, brothers. Our brother-leader knows what he is doing. After all, it's all in the fun!" The first of the trio snickered, grinning away as his companions, despite the skepticism, joined in while they continued their search and unaware that they had missed a group of Sonic's friends that were here just moments ago.
Back in Mobotropolis on Mobius, after Team Sonic helped to clean up the mess made by the rebelling Wisps who, seeing what they had done, felt guilty and apologized before they joined in on fixing up any damages they made without meaning to. Once that was done and the citizens thanked the blue hedgehog and his friends once more, they quickly informed the aliens of the situation and they agreed to behave themselves from now on before leaving to find more Jumping Wisps to return home.
"Now that that's settled, I think things should be okay here for a long run." Sonic announced as he, Tails, Knuckles, Sun, Speed and Ghostly watched their newly atoned friends fly away in hopes to head back to Planet Wisp. Sighing, he added as he lowered his gaze. "I just hope things don't get any worse than it already is."
"You still worried?" Sun asked, as he and the others gazed at his and Tails' brother, all of them concerned for the blue hedgehog's well-being. Just when he had finally recovered from all of the previous crazy adventures and had become more happier following the return of Uncle Chuck after saving Space and Time from the Time Eater and Cormain, now they were worried the hero of Mobius was about to be rendered back to how he felt five months ago.
"Well, how can I not? I mean, let's get real here, guys. Things are going really crazy and I'm not sure how or why Spirit felt the need to suddenly gather up followers to go against their own mother and Yacker just to make me and Tails stay and 'liven things up'." Sonic confessed, looking away in guilt as he swallowed the lump that formed in his throat. He sighed while rubbing his right arm again. "If only I had stopped Eggman from doing what he did, but at the same time...things would've been a whole lot worse if he were still alive."
Squeezing his eyes shut, the cobalt speedster felt guilt rise up once more. "I...I don't want to make enemies out of everybody I care about and love, especially the sweet and kind and gentle and fun Wisps...All of this mess is because of me...!" Unable to bear it, he placed a hand to his face to try and calm down.
"(No, Sonic. How could it be your fault?)" Speed pointed out, gently patting the hedgehog on the right cheek. "(Spirit just couldn't help himself and a lot of us wanted to see you again. They were just too impatient.)"
"Yeah, but I just can't help but feel like the whole peace we've worked so hard for is shattering because of my stupidity. I thought that once Eggman was gone the whole universe would be in peace. But each time I was wrong, and just when I thought things could finally go back to the no-Eggman-normal, like on my birthday, another crisis starts up. Even though things aren't as bad as before, what if-what if it gets worse?" Sonic pointed out, only to be huddled by his companions with Tails hugging him along with Sun and the two Wisps, while Knuckles gently placed a comforting hand onto the blue hedgehog's shoulder.
"Hey...We'll figure something out." Knuckles whispered, surprisingly soft and reassuring which surprised the younger teenage Mobian. "If anything, as much as I don't wanna be a bearer of bad news, anymore than what we're dealing with, I think...I think Spirit's in grave danger, and I think it's to do with what's been going on lately."
That shocked his friends as Sonic asked, now worriedly. "Say what? Whaddya mean?"
"When I encountered a few Wisps before I met up with you guys, they told me disturbing news that-"
Before he could continue his explanation, suddenly both Speed and Ghostly felt a strong presence which made them glow and somehow become alarmed and panicked, alarming the four Mobians who gazed at them.
"Hey, what's wrong you guys?" Tails asked, worriedly.
"What's going on?" Sonic added, though somehow he could feel that something was wrong. Very wrong.
"(The portal...I think I can feel that something's coming from the portal that we came through...something really bad!)" Speed cried out in alarm, before flying off in a small blue blur.
"(Hey! What for me, Speed!)" Ghostly cried out.
"Speed, where're you going?" Sonic exclaimed, before telling his friends to hold on which they did(though Knuckles and especially Sun were reluctant) and raced off to follow the cobalt alien while wondering what in the many worlds was going on. If it was as serious as the Wisp was saying that it was, then the situation was only about to get even worse and the hero of Mobius feared that Spirit was really taking things way too far.
Thankfully the sixteen year old was still much faster as he easily caught up with Speed who, thankfully having a good memory and sense of direction, lead them back into the alley where they found the portal they were spat from earlier, surprisingly still active and open, if not getting wider and wider. The small cobalt alien and the others, after Sonic skid to a stop, much to Sun's relief as he groaned since he still wasn't used to his brother's speed, saw that they could now see parts of Sweet Mountain like a clear image.
"That portal's getting bigger! I think it's the Lunania Comet's shard that's causing the link between worlds to become stronger due to Spirit's influence and the mixture of other Jumping Wisps as well as Star-Beams having done all of this." Tails exclaimed in worry and dismay.
"Do you think that the Shard's powers are starting to get out of control?" Sun asked, raising an eyebrow in grave concern. This was bad. If what Tails said was true, then the situation's getting even harder than they thought.
"If that's the case, then if those Food Monsters find it here, they could easily make their way and terrorize Mobius as we know it, then no one would be safe." Knuckles narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth which made Sonic, Speed and Ghostly gasp in horror, and while Tails knew that the red echidna was right, even he couldn't hide the fact that he was horrified.
But it was Sonic who felt it the most; if Sweet Mountain didn't return to normal soon, then Mobius was in real grave danger, more so than what they thought. His stomach lurched at the terrifying thought, his heart hammering away, and he was even beginning to become more pale over this.
"C'mon! Let's go through and figure out how to close it from the other side!" He ordered urgently, struggling to fight down the incoming panic attack he knew he was in for, but at the same time, the situation was now more serious.
Despite that they didn't know how they could do it, the others knew that Sonic was right. Unless they returned to Sweet Mountain now, things were only going to get ten times worse.
"(Gather around me! I'll take us back!)" Speed gestured the others to do so, which they did and after telling his friends to hold on, the Cobalt Wisp spun around and around them until his power of Jump teleported the six of them straight into the portal, back to where they came from in hopes of closing it so that the Food Monsters won't invade Mobius.
"WHOA!" Sonic yelped as he and his friends found themselves jumped right through the portal and landed safely on the sidestep of the giant Watermelon Mountain. Shaking away the disorientation of the ride, the group looked around and found, to their relief, they were back to where they started and cheered briefly before they looked around and saw that more Food Monsters were beginning to emerge and roam even from the distance.
To make things more horrific, Tails noticed something from the right and cried out while pointing. "Look! It's that alien monster from earlier!"
Seeing that he was right as the others saw before gasping in horror when they saw it enlarge it's mouth to engulf more of the Food Monsters as well as the giant food in general, Sonic narrowed his eyes.
"We don't have time for this. We're gonna need to find Amy and the others and the Shard." Knuckles informed with urgency in his voice.
"Right! Tails, Speed, Ghostly, you're with me! Knuckles, Sun, you guys make sure no Food Monsters enter this portal!" Sonic instructed firmly.
"Got it!" Sun nodded in agreement with determination as he knew that the hero of Mobius was right.
"Be careful, guys." The red echidna muttered, and Sonic and Tails both gave him a thumbs up.
"Okay, let's go!" The blue hedgehog declared, spinning a little in his spin form before speeding off down the mountain and leaving behind a trail of blue blur, with Speed seconds behind him, and Tails spinning his namesakes to follow via flight, with Ghostly being the last to follow.
As both Sun and Knuckles watched their friends race off while the former hurried to call Amy's group via the WCS, the latter frowned in deep concern, worried about Sonic's well-being, the Wisps' safeties, what he has learned, and the situation they were now currently stuck in.
'Sonic...I don't know how to say this but...please be careful. The situation's much worse than we thought.' The guardian of the Master Emerald thought to himself, praying that things would be alright.
Back with Amy's group...
"Do you think we've lost them?" Cream asked as she and her friends panted at the close call they had with the new scary alien monsters that appeared out of nowhere.
"I think so." Star sighed, placing a hand to her chest as she breathed a sigh of relief. "Boy, that was a close one."
"Just when things couldn't get any worse. First Spirit goes a bit overboard, then the Lunania Comet breaks into pieces causing worlds to quickly change, now we have new scary evil monsters appearing out of nowhere." Amy groaned in dismay.
"(What could have happened?)" Cutie asked, worriedly as she gazed over the direction where she and her friends had run from.
"Hmmm...Maybe those creatures we just saw have something to do with the Lunania Comet breaking apart. For some reason, they look kind of like the Zeti from the Twilight Cage." Star hummed thoughtfully with deep concern, much to the shock of her friends as they gasped.
"What!? You mean those things are the Zeti!?" Amy exclaimed in horror.
"No, because Zavok, Zomom and Master Zik are gone since Sun saved Mobius and the Twilight Cage. I'm just saying that the monsters we just saw look just like the Zeti, but I'm not sure how it's possible or why." The fifteen year old hedgehog girl shook her head.
"(I'm more worried about who are inside those things.)" Lily spoke up, causing the other girls and Cheese to gaze at her in confusion as they saw she held a very concerned expression in her eyes. Something was wrong. But, how could it be? Were some of the Wisps...held captive by those new evil monsters?
"Huh?" The others blinked in concerned confusion, wondering what the Hazel-Purple Wisp was talking about, except for Cutie who, knowing that she saw the same thing, whimpered as she realized that she wasn't the only one who noticed.
But before Lily could even respond, they all then heard an usual sloshing sound which made all of the girls and the little Chao to freeze up in alarm before Amy shushed them, trying to remain calm as she narrowed her eyes. The noise was coming from ahead and something within her gut was telling her to really be careful and not let her guard down. While her friends wondered what she was doing, the pink hedgehog tried to do what Sonic and the boys would normally do and crept closer to the corner of a giant tomato.
When the thirteen year old peered around it, her eyes widened in shock, disbelief, horror and disgust as she saw another group of Food Monsters carrying more cages with more trapped Wisps, including that of Yacker and some of the Wisps he took with him, having been caught unexpectedly earlier despite attempting to be careful.
'Oh no! Yacker!' Amy thought to herself, only to grimace when she saw a giant Food Monster that was made out of pepperoni pizza, the bottom half being made out of a giant proper normal pizza, while the rest of it's body was like it was sticking out of a melted cheese lake, forming into a morphed melted mozzerella cheese monster, massive thick muscle arms, pepperoni sticking on several parts of it's body, sharp black eyes and a huge mouth that made it look like an evil jacko lantern. It was about at least 70 feet tall if it didn't stand up, or perhaps it didn't have legs at all.
"Ew...So that's the Food Monsters' leader?" Amy whispered, cringing as Cream and Cheese the Chao, Star, Lily and Cutie carefully peered around and were just as shocked and horrified as well.
"Mr. Yacker and all of those poor Wisps are in trouble!" Cream whispered in dismay.
"Chao, chao..." Cheese murmured in fear, whimpering as he huddled close to his seven year old friend.
"(What do we do? We gotta save big brother Yacker!)" Cutie whispered in dismay, just before the others pulled her back around to quickly hide when more Food Monsters appeared, and Lily softly shushed her as none of them wanted to be heard or captured again.
They waited until the Monster guards passed by before Amy risked to peak again, and found that the Wisps that were captured were being huddled up into a larger cage, near where the giant Pizza Monster was and then she noticed something glowing right within the body of it. It was a golden colour which was faint, but it seems to be trapped within the Food Monster Leader who grinned evilly at it's captured prey who shivered in fear, while Yacker floated in front of his brethren in his attempt to keep them safe.
"We've gotta save them, but how?" Star whispered, worriedly.
"I think there's something glowing within that giant Pizza monster, but I'm not sure what it is." Amy whispered once she hidden herself again. "Call me crazy, but I have a hunch that it could be..."
"The Lunania Comet Shard?" Cream finished softly as she and the others' eyes widened.
"(Are you sure you could see a glow, Amy?)" Lily asked.
"Positive." The pink hedgehog confirmed, to which the Hazel-Purple Wisp floated over to take a peek herself. "It's right within that Pizza Monster."
When Lily peered to see and looked at the hideous monster more closely without being seen, her eye widened in shock to see that Amy was right, and so she listened in to what the Food Monsters were saying as Wisps were the only ones being able to understand the new language that the Mobians couldn't. As she did, the Hazel-Purple Wisp felt her heart drop in horror that she tried very hard not to quiver in terror before she heard enough as the Food Monsters bowed before their leader after cheering and the Pizza Monster bellowed a manical laugh.
While inside the cage, Yacker and the other trapped Wisps could only either narrow their eyes or look on in fear and terror.
"What's going on, Lily?" Cream whispered, nervously.
"(You're not going to like this, but Amy is right. The Lunania Comet Shard is inside that thing, both within the ground of Sweet Mountain and having created all of the Food Monsters under a wish for change.)" Lily whispered, to which her friends would've gasped if they weren't close to the enemies.
"What else did they say?" Star asked, worriedly.
"(The Pizza Monster is the lord of all of the Food Monsters, and he plans to keep us and imprison us inside everywhere and in everything in this world, but he's holding off on big brother Yacker until they capture us, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sun, Speed and Ghostly...!)" The Hazel-Purple Wisp shivered, gulping.
That made Amy, Star, Cutie, Cream and Cheese utterly terrified, knowing that this was going to be a very difficult job to get the shard back, as Star whispered. "So in order to get the shard back, the Pizza monster must be defeated."
"Then maybe the other Wisps are trapped all over Sweet Mountain too." Cream whispered in realization.
"We'd gotta tell Sonic." Amy declared, gesturing her friends to follow her to a more safer place to at least make a call. Despite the hesitation in leaving Yacker and the other Wisps behind, they knew they didn't have a choice and needed back up.
Once they were in decent spot, she immediately sent in for a call.
At the same time, Sonic, Tails, Speed and Ghostly were racing all over Sweet Mountain taking out more Food Monsters as they raced through with the blue hedgehog running and three of his friends flying.
"Any sign of the others yet?" Sonic asked as they raced up a hill made out of a giant field of potatos, some dribbled in gravy.
"Not yet, but there are many Wisps that are in trouble all over the planet! If we don't hurry to find the shard, we'll be too late." Tails replied as he scanned with his Miles Electric.
The blue hedgehog narrowed his eyes in worry, thinking about the terrible things that could happen to not just the little aliens, but also Team Rose as well. 'Amy, guys...please be okay.'
More than anything, the fact that this world was still in it's transformed state, it told the sixteen year old hero that Amy's group still didn't find the Lunania Comet Shard yet either. Before he could pounder into his thoughts further, suddenly his WCS bleeped which caught him and his group by surprise, making the blue hedgehog to quickly answer, half-expecting either Sun or Knuckles and hoping against hope that it was either Amy, Star or even Cream.
"Sonic! Are you there?" It was Amy.
"Amy! Boy, am I glad to see you!" Sonic responded in relief. "Are you okay?" He asked immediately.
"I'm fine, and so are the others. But listen, we need you come to the giant Tomato Area." The pink hedgehog replied, and at the cobalt speedster's confusion with wide eyes, she continued. "We've found the shard, but it's trapped within a giant Pizza Monster who's the leader of all of the Food Monsters and they've got Yacker and the other Wisps trapped. They're planning on keeping all of us to themselves and trap us inside all of the food on Sweet Mountain forever!"
Sonic gritted his teeth in anger when he heard this. So those monsters did plan on trapping him and his friends forever, huh? Well, they'll see about that.
"Just hang tight, Ames! We're comin'!" The hero of Mobius told her, and sped up to reach his girlfriend and other friends in order to stop the Food Monsters and solve this problem once and for all.
"Right, and Sonic, please hurry...! There are also more evil monster aliens here and Star things all three of them look just like the Zeti!" Amy added, much to the shock of her boyfriend, Tails, and the two Wisps who all gasped in shock.
"Three!? Are you kidding!?" Sonic skid to a stop and stared at his WCS' screen, horrified as memories of the red one filled his mind. "I thought there was only one since me, Tails and the others got away from the guy who, uh...well, don't wanna scare anybody, but the big red guy can eat anything at any size, including all of the giant food around here."
"WHAT!?" The Piko-Hammer-Wielding girl exclaimed, making both her group around her and even Sonic and his group all wince at just how loud she was. "YOU MEAN THERE'S FOUR OF THEM!?"
"Apparently so. Look, just sit tight, and we'll be right there!" Sonic quickly said after a moment, and after being told to be careful, he quickly sped off once more with Tails and the two Wisps close behind.
"Sonic, I'm picking up status of more Wisps on the left, and it leads to the road where Amy and the others are!" Tails informed as he scanned with the WCS GPS signals.
"Roger that, buddy!" The blue hedgehog replied, sliding around the corner and found five Wisps, two Cyan and three White, all tied up and trapped on a giant broccoli that acted like a tree, much to his anger. 'So, those food monsters think they can use me and my friends as decorations, huh? Well, two can play at that game!'
While careful on where to hit, Sonic wasted no time in using his Spin Dash to smash the Broccoli like he did with Eggman's capsules months ago and landed neatly while freeing his old time friends who, once again freed and recognizing their savior and best friend, flew in and hugged him on the face and chest, making him laugh.
"(Sonic! Thank you for saving us!)" The Wisps all squealed while nuzzling their heads against the young Mobian.
"Heh heh heh! A-alright, alright! You're welcome, guys!" Sonic chuckled, gently moving them away. "I'm just really glad that you're all okay."
"(Sonic! Incoming!)" Speed cried out as he, Tails and Ghostly, who gasped in horror, saw even more Food Monsters appear. But Sonic remained calm this time as he frowned while folding his arms, and then stood ready before going for several Homing Attacks which knocked them down with ease while the Food Monsters gave out cries of pain, not even having time to attack him.
"Well, fellas. As much as you're on the lower chain, I don't like you. Bye-bye!" Sonic waved before he and his friends took off once more as fast as they could, with the rescued Wisps now joining them to rescue others.
When they reached a canyon made out of giant carrots which towered like rock pillars, the sixteen year old Mobian jumped and leaped from one rock to another to make his way to the other side while Tails and the Wisps easily flew. Once they made it, they kept going through the familiar yet unfamiliar area and saw that more Wisps were being trapped until Sonic nodded to one of the Laser Wisp who nodded in return. The little alien then flowed right into his body and allowed him to use it's power.
"LASER!"
With the power of laser, Sonic zipped and zig-zagged between giant apples and enormous nectarines, before he busted through a giant apricot that held a pink Spike-Wisp, a Drill Wisp and even a Star-Beam Wisp, freeing them which they cheered on while reuniting with the other Wisps who were very relieved to see them. But then they and Tails saw too late as while Sonic returned to normal and the Laser Wisp emerged from him, the blue hedgehog was suddenly attacked and ambushed from behind by another Food Monster, punching him on the back and sending him flying. He cried out in alarm and pain and slid while turning before hitting a giant Spring Onion, slumping.
He winced before glaring up at his attack, who was revealed to be a Food Monster shaped like mutant Salary Stick with leaves on it's back that acted as it's wings, indicating that it could fly, grinning.
"Well, that's a new skill and a new unfairness." Sonic said angrily as he stood up.
"Sonic, we don't have time for this! The Wisps and Amy and the others are running out of time!" Tails cried out as he hovered next to his best friend/big brother.
The blue hedgehog though remained calm as he replied. "That's okay, Tails. He's not looking for a fight." He then glared at the Salary Stick. "Are you?"
Sonic and the Food Monster shared a glaring contest as he added. "You're looking for a race." He then grinned while allowing the Drill Wisp, who, as though reading his mind, merged into him as he declared. "All right, then. Let's race!"
"DRILL!"
Transforming into his Drill form, Sonic sped and dug over and under, easily avoiding the Flying Salary who, hissing as it's enemies were escaping, expanded it's wings and took off flying in a surprising high-speed. The blue hedgehog in the mean time kept on going until he reached another Food-like prison filled with more trapped Wisps and broke them free where they cheered, this time it was a rocket Wisp, and a couple of Hover Wisps before they and everyone else followed the hero of Mobius who returned to normal and kept on running. Speeding away while avoiding many more dangers such as a water fall of really hot soup, leaping over it as well as skip-stepping onto large sugar cubes of a lake made out of coffee before making it to the other side, freeing more Wisps.
As Sonic speed through, the Wisps kept up with speed and flight while the Salary Monster flew to try and capture them, flying over the heroes with it's shadow covering them due to how high it was. The blue hedgehog kept running until he saw tiny figures of familiar people in the distance which became bigger as he got closer. He could hear Amy's voice calling out to him and he smiled in relief, but then Team Rose saw the Salary Monster and gasped.
"Mr. Sonic, look out!" Cream cried out as she and the others felt relief to see him, but terrified that another Food Monster was here.
"Huh!?" Sonic gaped, before noticing the Flying Salary zooming next to him and he narrowed his eyes while gritting his teeth, trying to come up with an idea on how to get rid of it.
Fortunately, the solution to the problem was solved as Cutie, seeing that her new friends were in trouble as even the other Wisps couldn't help him in time, quickly flew in despite Amy, Cream and Star's protests to wait while Lily gasped and Cheese squeaked in alarm. The little Light-Yellow Wisp then surprisingly avoided the Flying Salary and flew right into Sonic's chest and he softly gasped when he felt this new power he never felt from the Wisps before. It was so light and strangely fluffy, eligent and smooth and wanting nothing more than too...
"Whoa! TWIRL!"
Transforming into a mixture of a golden and blue ribbon like form, Sonic flew and spun and flew around the Flying Salary who's eyes widened in shock at the blue hedgehog's sudden transformation, trapping it like a piece of Christmas ribbons, pinning it's arms, legs and wings together before letting go and causing it to spin out of control before it ended up being flown right into the wall where it smashed hard and slumped to the ground before disappearing completely. Amy, Cream, Cheese, Star and Lily, along with Tails, Speed and the other rescued Wisps all cheered on as Sonic returned to normal, with Cutie emerging from his body.
"Whoa, Cutie, that was...amazing! I've never burrowed that kind of power before." Sonic remarked, a bit dizzy from the new Hyper-Go-On ability that, like Jump, was completely new to him...if not a bit girly. More so than turning into a pink Spikes form. "Thanks for the help."
"(I-I was just glad I could help, Sonic.)" Cutie replied sheepishly, twirling a bit, hence to her ability as she was officially known as a Twirl Wisp. She then beamed happily when the blue hedgehog gently rubbed her on her face as he smiled happily.
"Sonic!" Amy cried out, hurrying over to her boyfriend along with the others, making the hero of Mobius and his group to become even more relieved.
"Hey, Amy!" Sonic greeted, and caught his girlfriend in his arms while she threw hers around his shoulders, trying to hold back her fan-girl craziness like she promised, the two embracing warmly. Relief washed over him, even as Cream and Cheese along with Tails who was just as happy to see him, and Star joined in. "Are you all alright?"
"We're okay. We're just happy to see you and Tails too, Mr. Sonic." Cream replied sweetly.
"Thanks, Cream." The blue hedgehog replied, as he and his friends all wanted to remain in this group hug. He was so happy to be with Team Rose again after being so worried, and he could tell that they were worried about him and his team as well. 'Thank Light Gaia, they're okay. Now I just gotta rescue Yacker and the other Wisps and stop that giant Pizza Monster once and for all.'
"Hey, where are Sun and Knuckles?" Star wondered, noticing that they were lacking two other male Mobians.
"They at the portal up on Watermelon Mountain to make sure those Food Monster creeps don't go through it." Sonic responded, remembering that they still had a lot of work to do, before he and his friends reluctantly moved away from each other.
"A portal?" Amy asked, surprised.
"It's a long story, the one we found leads to Mobotropolis back on Mobius." Tails quickly explained, making the girls and the other Wisps gasp in shock and horror.
"We'll explain later." Sonic quickly spoke up, holding his hands out to try and calm the girls and Chao down. "Right now, can you show me where this giant Pizza Monster is holding Yacker and the others? How did they get captured again?"
"We don't know. What we do know is, according to Lily, that the Food Monsters think we are theirs to keep as decorations and hold us prisoner for the rest of our lives." Star replied gravely and the aforementioned Hazel-Purple Wisp nodded sadly to confirm it.
That ticked Sonic right off as he folded his arms with a deep frown. "In other words, those creeps think we're theirs for keeps. Well, they'd got another thing coming."
"Sonic, if the leader is a giant Pizza, it's going to be difficult and..." The two-tailed fox began to point as he and soon the others including the blue hedgehog realized that this battle wasn't going to be easy.
"And since the melted cheese is stick, I could get stuck if I try my usual attacks. Especially if it's got a piece of the comet inside of it. Hmmmm..." Sonic thought deeply as he suddenly knew that he was stuck. "Looks like I'm gonna need some help in fighting that thing without getting stuck and becoming the added ingredient of the Pizza guy itself.
"(Maybe I can help that, Mr. Sonic.)" A Star-Beam Wisp spoke up, causing the blue hedgehog and his friends to gaze at the more friendly Golden-Star-shaped Wisp that wasn't on Spirit's agenda. "(We Star-Beams can help you with whatever you need by making wishes and giving you temporarily power from other Wisps too, and even powers that nobody else has...Well, simple powers, anyway.)"
"Really?" The blue hedgehog blinked in surprise.
"If that's the case, then maybe they might give you the power to temporarily stop the Pizza Monster in it's tracks. Attacking it while it's stuck or maybe even frozen might be the answer and also getting the shard back. If we do, then not only all of the Food Monsters will disappear, but Sweet Mountain can go back to normal and maybe even close up the portal." Tails theorized.
Freeze the Pizza Monster? The more Sonic thought about it, the more it gave him some sort of idea and while he was still against in using the Wisps' powers and didn't want to use them as much as he would've liked, still feeling guilty for burrowing the Hyper-Go-Ons and scared of what it could do the gentle aliens as well as himself, at this point of time there wasn't much of a choice. Maybe if he could freeze the food monster like a frozen pizza left in the refrigerator waiting to be opened and cooked up in the oven, it might give him a chance. It still required in going into it.
"You know what? Something tells me that this plan involves a freezing wish." Sonic finally said thoughtfully, and nodded with determination. "Let's give it a shot!"
"The Food Monsters are around the corner of that giant Tomato over there." Amy instructed.
"Well, you can't have pizza without tomato sauce or pizza paste." The blue hedgehog said jokingly, cracking his knuckles as he did a couple of stretches to sych himself up for another battle. "Okay! Let's go!"
"Yeah!" Everyone else cheered on, before the group hurried on a rescue and retrieve mission to save Yacker and the Wisps, retrieve the shard and restore Sweet Mountain back to it's original glory.
All unaware that not to far from where they were, the same red-round-Zomom-look-alike alien was edging closer, chomping on more of the food of the planet as well as the Food Monsters who squealed in horror before they were all engulfed by it's enormous streched out mouth. It munched and moaned in delight before swallowing it's meal and patted it's stomach. It then sniffed the air as the scent of Pizza filled up it's nose and it's eyes lit up happily.
"Ooooh! That smells delicious! More food!" Said the red-large-alien, before it made it's way towards it's destination.
Which would put the lives of Sonic and his friends into more danger.
A/N: Sorry that I couldn't finish up Sweet Mountain in this chapter, but I promise that the next chapter will end this world's arc before we move onto the next which I think the next world will be revealed in the next chapter. Not sure how many parts the rest of the worlds will play out for the rest of the story, but I will do my best with them, and I plan on adding in new ideas suggested by my friend TU4QU0I53T4IAN6L3 who I want to thank by the way.
Hopefully I'll be able to update again as soon as possible(assuming both my computer and the ongoing problems with the internet will allow me).
