![]() Author has written 3 stories for Naruto, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Before I started writing, before I even started reading fanfiction, the word in my environment was almost pejorative, meaning stupid yaoi fics for girls (although that certainly accounts for the larger part of the fanfics online). Then, in search of primarily Naruto content, then GoT, I've uncovered the real meaning of the word 'fanfiction'. This word is the passion of hundreds of thousands, solidified in novels of hundreds of different genres, following the lives of thousands of different characters. Whomever searches for a different view on their favourite piece of culture - these are the people that enjoy fanfiction. And those who bring the joy to them are the fanfiction writers. What brought me from occasionally reading a fic, to writing one, is an idea. An idea that shined blindingly in my mind, and because it wasn't on paper, it didn't let me sleep. First, I went and suggested someone to use that idea and write a fic, since I didn't deem myself skilful enough to do it myself. After a fair amount of time, I realised, that no one but myself will realise my idea, and just like that, I wound up writing a fanfiction, and being on the receiving end of both praise and criticism, which I greatly enjoy. But most of all in writing, beside seeing how many click on my fic, I enjoy seeing readers sharing their opinions, may it be positive or negative, and advices on how to improve my writing, for no one is perfect at whatever they're doing, especially in writing, where we have the icons of brilliance, like Tolkien, Martin, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Orwell, Bradbury and countless others, and yet even them aren't perfect. You don't need to be perfect to do what you want to, while you certainly should aim and strive for it, not everyone is bound to reach that high. If writing fanfiction is what makes you happy, why should you ever not write? Even if you think that what you write is silly, even if it is overdone, even if you think that it wont be ever read by anyone, that doesn't matter at all. What matters is your passion, and ideas that you want to realise. These things, like everything around, aren't timeless. So get up and explore the depths of your imagination! I don't usually write reviews, as its a quite the tedious thing to do, I wont turn away your beta requests unless I don't have the time for it, or if it doesn't meet my preferences or area of interest. |
