AN: Here it is, everyone, the remastered version of the original story transferred straight over from my now discontinued Marka Ragnos629 profile! I hope you all enjoy it because several of the chapters have been given a hell of an overhaul from what they originally were. Let me tell you, I had no idea where I was going when I first started writing this story, but now that I have a clearer idea of what I want to do with this story, I hope that you'll all give the revamped version a chance. Please note that this story follows the events of Pokemon Origins and may or may not be expanded upon or even rewritten to follow the storyline of the original cartoon Pokemon Indigo League, so please don't pressure me into doing so. Okay? Okay. Enjoy the remastered story. Thank you for understanding.

Tales of a New Beginning
Barriss Offee didn't know how long she'd been floating in that hover field aboard a prison satellite that the Republic had constructed specifically to contain prisoners with powers like hers, as she had lost track of the time after the third day of being confined to this dark and lonely prison cell with only the energy field itself for light. But she honestly didn't care anymore. She felt as though she deserved far worse due to her actions, such as being frozen in carbonite and being buried and forgotten on some unknown planet beyond the Outer Rim. That would have been a whole lot worse of a punishment.
But no. The Republic and the Jedi especially wanted her to suffer far worse for what she did. And she couldn't blame them, honestly. She framed her former best friend, Ahsoka Tano, for the bombing of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant along with the murders of several Jedi, temple workers, and clone troopers, and almost had her executed for it. Did she regret doing so? Yes, she did deeply regret her actions even if nobody would believe her. But did she agree with what she said in the senate building where Ahsoka was likely about to be sentenced to death?
In a way, she did.
Barriss knew that the Jedi had no place actively fighting as Generals in a war. Especially since it's been thousands of years since any Jedi has had any military experience, let alone any real experience in leading troops into battle. The battle of Geonosis was proof enough of that. Hell, Mace Windu himself told the Republic Senate that the Jedi would not openly participate in the war, and look what happened!
And with each new battle… with each life taken and every life lost… the Jedi were becoming more and more like warriors, and less and less like the peacekeepers that they once were as they allowed crime and slavery to run rampant in the galaxy and hardly did anything to stop it. All of these life or death situations, being constantly thrust into one new battle after another as they hardly ever tried to settle things diplomatically anymore, and when they do it almost always devolved into everyone trying to kill each other for one reason or another! Everything about the war just ate away at Barriss's carefully built walls that she erected around herself as part of her Jedi training until one day she just… snapped and unleashed all of her pent up negative emotions in one fell swoop.
Now she was here hanging in a forcefield, her connection to the living Force likely severed by her own actions and a great void in her being.
'Well, I may be stuck here for the rest of my natural life, but hopefully Ahsoka is back with the Jedi and living a better life now that her name has been cleared.' Barriss thought to herself.
The former Jedi sighed as she continued to float there. She honestly wished that she could do something, anything, to redeem herself in the eyes of the Jedi and the Republic. But with her being sentenced to life imprisonment on this satellite she doesn't know if that's possible.
"Oh, but anyone can find redemption if they try hard enough and truly wish to repent for their sins."
Barriss tensed at the sound of the unfamiliar voice. She looked around but saw nothing until a great flash of light appeared in her cell. She had to close her eyes to avoid being blinded by this light, and as it died down she slowly opened them up to find herself face to face with a creature that she has never seen before. She's not even sure if it even lives in this galaxy!
The creature in question has a humanoid body type that shows that it's obviously a male. It has several reptilian features such as a long, prehensile tail. His skin is green with lime green tear lines underneath his piercing red eyes. His body is covered in a white carapace that seems to be formed from his own skin cells, and he has teal colored bio-gems growing out of his carapace. These gems are located in his forearms, head, chest, shoulderpads, hip guards, and lower legs. Finally she noted that he had feet that were more like hands with three opposable digits, large holes in the sides of his head that must have been his ears, and a pair of white horns growing out of the sides of his head above his ears. These horns were short and angled in such a way that they curved upwards.
The creature walked towards her, his feet making this odd noise with each step, and despite his somewhat intimidating appearance Barriss couldn't sense any evil intentions from him. He raised one hand and pointed his finger at one of the cuffs restraining Barriss in the forcefield.
"Let's get you out of here." he said.
And to the Mirialan beauty's shock he fired red beams of energy from his fingertip which easily destroyed the cuffs around her wrists and ankles before using his tail to catch her as she fell! He gently set her on her feet and placed a hand on her shoulder, causing the two of them to vanish from her prison cell as they were engulfed in a brighter flash of light.
"Who are you? What are you? And why did you free me?" Barriss asked as she rubbed her chaffing wrists.
The creature chuckled and said "Who me? My name is Frostbite, and I am what you call an Editor. My job is to watch over the various worlds that are created and maintained by other editors like me. What you're seeing is not my true body, but rather a physical avatar that I've created for the sole purpose of interacting with the worlds I watch over."
Frostbite began walking through the void that he and Barriss were now in as she walked alongside him.
"I freed you because I've been watching certain people in your universe, Barriss. Yourself and your friend Ahsoka, chief among them. It isn't right that you've been left to rot on that prison satellite without even being given a chance at redemption. But I can sense that you can be redeemed, Barriss, and so have come to give you that chance." Frostbite went on to explain.
"But… how will I find redemption like you think I can? Surely not with the Jedi?" Barriss asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No. I'm afraid that you were right about one thing: the Jedi truly have lost their way. Only a select few have any hope of redeeming themselves and restoring the honor of the Jedi. But I'm afraid that I cannot tell you who these Jedi are. I can, however, tell you that they are people whom you know quite well." Frostbite replied as he continued to explain. "As for how you will redeem yourself… I am offering you the chance to be sent to another universe entirely. A universe inhabited by strange and powerful creatures who live alongside humans as companions, friends, and even fellow warriors."
Frostbite snapped his fingers and a screen appeared in front of himself and Barriss. The screen lit up to reveal an old man with gray hair and brown eyes wearing a white labcoat over professional looking clothing. The man looked friendly, and it was obvious that he had years of wisdom and experience under his belt.
"Hello there, and welcome to the world of Pokemon. My name is Professor Oak. I'm often referred to as the Professor of Pokemon." the old man said as he introduced himself. "There are some very interesting creatures that inhabit this world, and as you may be aware they are known throughout the world quite simply as Pokemon."
Professor Oak snapped his fingers as the camera angled to a side shot and a large screen lit up depicting the shadows of at least over a hundred different Pokemon. Some looked mammalian, others like insects, and some appeared to be inanimate objects brought to life. These creatures lit a certain spark of curiosity and wonder within Barriss that she thought had been lost to both childhood, and the horrors of the Clone Wars. Something that Frostbite noticed quickly and smiled at.
"For some people Pokemon are pets, while others enjoy using Pokemon for battle. We find ourselves coexisting in various styles." Oak explained as he pulled something out of his coat pocket.
It was a ball that easily fit into the palm of someone's hand. The ball was red on top, white on the bottom, and it had a black ring and white button dividing the two colors sideways down the center. Oak gave the ball a good toss into the air and it popped open to reveal what was quite possibly one of the cutest creatures Barriss had ever seen in her life.
It was a quadrupedal mammalian creature covered in brown fur with tufts of tannish-white fur around its neck, a big puffball of a tail in the same color scheme, long pointed ears, a cute, black button nose, large dark brown eyes, and a smile that could melt even the most vile of people's hearts.
Barriss squealed like a schoolgirl and asked "What is that adorable little creature?"
"That's a Pokemon, Barriss. It's one that's quite famous in that world known as Eevee." Frostbite replied.
"Eevaieee!" yipped the Eevee as it landed in Professor Oak's arms.
The old man pet Eevee's head drawing some adorable purrs from the Pokemon.
"Are you interested in learning about this Pokemon world?" Professor Oak asked.
Barriss perked up and looked around before looking back at the screen and pointing at herself.
Frostbite chuckled and said "Yes he means you, Green Bean! This is the offer for redemption that I am giving to you. I will send you to the world of Pokemon where you will be reborn as a human rather than a Mirialan with none of your present memories. When the time comes that you have been deemed forgiven for your past sins, I shall appear before you again and give you your memories back. Will you accept this offer? Think carefully, now, for once you make your choice there is no going back."
Barriss thought hard about this. On one hand she could very well find the redemption she was so desperately searching for. But on the other hand was it really worth losing her memories of the life she's led up until this point? Honestly, the choice was an obvious one and she knew it really was her only real option.
"I accept your offer, Frostbite." she said.
"Very well. I had a feeling that you would." Frostbite said as he held out a hand to Barriss. "Now you might feel a little bit tingly, but that's normal during this process."
The Mirialan former Jedi was about to ask what he meant when she was suddenly turned into an orb of light! The orb flew into Frostbite's hand before he tossed it into the screen where she'd be transported to a new world and reborn as a new person.
"I'll be your guide for a story of dreams and adventures." Oak said. "Now… the world of Pokemon awaits! Let's get started!"
Everything faded to white as Barriss would soon be reborn and embark on her greatest adventure ever! An adventure full of fun, learning, and self-discovery! But most importantly…
A journey of redemption!
