A Mother's Grief and Creepy Warnings

It was early morning the next day when Momo Midoriya, otherwise known as the Creation Hero: Creati, awoke from her rather restless slumber. When she and her husband had gotten home from a late work shift fighting villains and saving people she wanted nothing more than to try everything in her power as a mother to pull her son out of the spiralling depression he had been falling into ever since his rather unjust expulsion from UA. But when they got there, Izuna's bedroom door was closed and all of the lights were out. They figured that he must have already gone to bed before they got home so they themselves just went straight to bed after taking a moment to wash up. But it was anything BUT a good night's sleep.

And now that she was awake, Momo wanted nothing more than to check up on her son and help him through this time of grief. As she got out of bed she glanced at her still sleeping husband. He was usually the first one up between the two of them, but he had to push himself harder than usual against last night's villains. Deciding to let Izuku sleep in, mostly because she didn't have the heart to wake him up, she put on a robe and her slippers and started making her way to her son's room.

It didn't take long for her to reach Izuna's room, the door having a name marker that was Spyro themed on it. She smiled as she remembered how scandalized Izuku had looked when Izuna decided against a hero, more specifically All Might, themed name post for his door. Izuna had been four at the time and had yet to awaken his quirk, and had laughed himself almost to unconsciousness at how silly his father looked that day.

Ah, good times.

Momo shook her head. This was no time to be taking a stroll down memory lane. She has a job as a mother to do. She reached up and knocked on her son's bedroom door.

"Izuna? Are you awake, sweetie?" she asked.

Pressing her ear to the door, she was met with an unusually strong silence. This caused her to worry somewhat. Usually, she can hear her son's quiet snoring whenever he's asleep, but now she can't hear a thing. So she tried knocking again, hoping that Izuna was awake and was just in deep thought while unintentionally ignoring her.

"Izuna, please say something! It's not like you to ignore me like this!" she called through the door. "It's not those awful people who hurt you, it's me. It's Mama. Please answer me!..."

But still there was no response.

Knowing her son well enough to know that he wouldn't just ignore her or her husband like this, she decided to open the door and speak to him face to face. She knew he was hurting badly over what happened, and so did Izuku, but she just wished that Izuna would talk to them about it. Her son has always been the kind of kid to bottle up his feelings instead of sharing them all while putting others before himself. He gets it from his father.

As she opened the door she was surprised to find that her son wasn't in bed. In fact, he wasn't in his room at all. The bed was neatly made and looked as though nobody had been in it all night. Momo got a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach as she did a quick search of the room. She found several pairs of Izuna's casual clothes, as well as the hero outfit he'd never gotten to wear, missing from his closet. Even his toothbrush, toothpaste, and personal towel were gone from the bathroom.

As Momo started to make frantic whimpering noises as she feared the worst she noticed a note on her son's nightstand.

"Maybe this will shed some light." Momo thought out loud.

Picking up the note, she unfolded the paper and began to read. It was definitely her son's handwriting.

She wished she hadn't read the note.

'Dear Mom and Dad,'

'By the time you read this, I'll be gone from home and be far away from this province and maybe even on my way out of Japan. Don't bother to come looking for me. I know that this is hard, but I have to leave for all of our benefits. I can't stand all of the hate filled glares and insults thrown behind my back any longer! And I don't want you guys to suffer a serious blow to your reputations as heroes due to harboring the quote: "Traitorous Dragon of UA", so I'm leaving home. Maybe forever.

'Please don't blame yourselves for my leaving. We all knew that this would eventually come to pass. The teachers at UA didn't even give me a chance to explain myself when they found my own hero notebooks, something that Dad had been writing long before I was born! They just took one look at how I broke down how a person's quirk worked and the weaknesses of those quirks that they didn't even see how those heroes could improve and protect themselves from people who would take advantage of those weaknesses! They threw me out of UA and now my dream of becoming a Pro Hero like you, Mom and Dad, has been shot to hell!'

'I hope you guys will pardon my language, but… WHAT KIND OF FUCKING BULLSHIT ARE THE TEACHERS OF UA AND EVEN MOST OF THE HEROES SMOKING?!'

'Like I said earlier, please don't come looking for me. I have to find my own path both as a person and… well, I guess as a vigilante now that my hero dreams have been crushed. Along with my faith in heroes in general…'

'Thank you both for standing up for me and believing in me since this whole debacle started, but I truly need to find my own path. Without the help of heroes… and without you.'

'Sincerely, Izuna Midoriya.'

Momo fell to her knees as tears began falling from her eyes as she took in everything her son had said in his letter.

Izuna?... Her baby boy?...

He ran away from home?!

The whole province heard Momo's shriek of motherly anguish that morning as the severity of the situation finally sunk in.

Izuna's POV.

I sighed as I continued to stare out the window to of the bus. My brain is telling me that I did the right thing by leaving, but my heart still feels like it's been stabbed all over by broken glass and razor blades. I can only imagine how sad and worried Mom and Dad, especially Mom, must be. They must have read my letter by now.

Well, at least I'll be getting an education while I'm away.

About an hour after boarding the bus last night, the driver had given me a pen and some transfer forms to fill out. Apparently I boarded a school bus instead of a regular bus, and now it's taking me to some kind of boarding school called Yokai Academy. Since I was already expelled from UA I figured I might as well fill out the forms and transfer. Not like I have any other schools to go to since being branded a traitor just for picking up my Dad's hobby of writing hero notebooks and analyzing quirks in general. So I figured, meh, why not.

The forms did say that Yokai recently implemented its own hero course, so that's a plus. Hopefully they'd let me enroll in the course and I'd be able to salvage my dream.

But I won't get my hopes up.

"You doing okay back there, kid?" the driver asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just have a lot on my mind right now." I replied.

From my understanding, Yokai Academy is a private boarding school that's located far away from human civilization out at the edge of the country. Well, that's just fine with me. The less people who know where I am, the better. And the less heroes know where to look, the more time I have to get stronger for the inevitable confrontations that are bound to happen.

"So you're entering Yokai Academy, eh?" the driver asked.

Though I'm sure he knows that already since I gave him the paperwork when it was done like he requested. Still, no sense in not making a little bit of idle conversation.

"Yeah, I am."

The driver gave a creepy cackle and said "I hope you said all your goodbyes…"

Wait, what?

"Because as soon as we come out of this long, long tunnel…"

The driver looked at me with glowing pale yellow eyes and a creepy grin.

"...You'll see Yokai Academy. And perhaps never see anything again!"

My eyes went wide and my jaw dropped at that statement. What is that supposed to mean?!

***To Be Continued…***
