AN: I'm kind of disappointed that this story hasn't gotten any reviews yet, but I guess that's to be expected. It's a pretty unusual crossover, but I hope we'll see some reviews as the story progresses. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this chapter, because here is where the plot begins to take off.

A Duel Challenge

"What do you mean he's gone?" exclaimed Sentinel Prime.

Ultra Magnus and the Cybertron Elite Guard had gotten a transmission from Optimus and his crew about what happened with Megatron and his Space Bridge, and they were quite surprised to learn about what happened to one of the Starscream clones. From what Optimus had been telling them prior to that news two of the Starscream clones had showed signs of truly becoming their own bots and developing a spark of their own. The most prominent being the female clone known as Slipstream, and then there was her suck-upish brother, Sunstorm.

Though it was very brief, Prowl had definitely caught a glimpse of true sentience from the clone.

Which leads us to the current situation.

"I mean exactly that, Sentinel. One of the Starscream clones was sucked into the destabilized Space Bridge portal and transported who knows where. We don't even know if he's still online or not." Optimus explained.

"I did manage to get some samples of the energy from the destabilized Space Bridge portal. I'm gonna run some tests of my own and see if it might shed some light on what happened, especially since Omega Supreme was transported soon after the Starscream Clone." explained Bulkhead.

"Do you have any theories about what happened?" Ultra Magnus asked.

Bulkhead scratched his helm and said "Well… not yet sir. But I do think that he's still online. We just haven't been able to pinpoint his location yet. But if I can successfully analyze the energy samples that I collected, I should be able to use it to triangulate his coordinates and then we can bring him in."

Ultra Magnus hummed before saying "It's not really much of a plan, but it's the only one available to us right now. Do what you have to and call if you find anything out."

Optimus and his crew saluted with a quick 'yes sir!' before the transmission ended. Then Bulkhead immediately went to work. He was going to have to pull a lot of all-nighters if he was going to get any real results.

Who knows just what kind of mayhem Sunstorm could be causing right this second?

Wherever he is...

"Here, does that help?"

The mysterious redhead hummed as he straightened out a garment that Jasmine and Mindy, though mostly Mindy, had him put on. It was a leather jacket that was a deep red color which really made the orange shirt he was wearing pop. It was aesthetically pleasing to the girls, especially since this jacket had a cream colored stripe running down the left sleeve.

"Now that you have your jacket on, take a deep breath and say 'My name is…' and then say your name." Mindy instructed.

"He's tried that ten times already, Mindy! It's obviously not working!" Jasmine exclaimed, feeling a little fed up with these attempts at home amnesia remedies.

But her black-haired friend wasn't about to give up so easily.

"Well, it worked on TV!" Mindy said to Jasmine with a peeved look before looking at the unknown redhead. "I saw it on a show this one time, there was this hypnotist who was helping people remember things that they'd forgotten. Like where they left their keys and, uh…"

Midway through her rant, Mindy noticed that the boy that she and her friend had rescued wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying. And if he had been, then he was currently distracted by something else. Something that he was looking at with great interest.

"Hey, what'cha looking at?" Mindy asked.

"Those." said the redhead boy, pointing at a deck of cards on a shelf.

Mindy followed his line of sight and smiled as she realized just what he was looking at.

"Oh, those are my Duel Monster cards. It's the most popular card game in the world, and this school, Duel Academy, is dedicated to teaching people how to become professional duelists and make careers out of playing the game." Mindy explained before asking "Do you know about Duel Monsters?"

The redhead narrowed his eyes a little and rose an eyebrow as he responded.

"Yeah, but I don't know how or why."

"Maybe you used to play Duel Monsters yourself. Or maybe your a fan of a pro duelist." Mindy theorized. "Hey, maybe if you play the game, you'll remember something about yourself!"

The redhead boy and Jasmine both looked confused by what Mindy had just said, as it didn't really make any sense to either of them. And they both clearly had the same thought, which was visible as the expressions on their faces.

'What the hell is she talking about?'

"Okay, I can see that you guys are confused, but just here me out here okay? I saw on the news one time where Seto Kaiba was giving an interview and he said that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they duel. So I figure that maybe if Red here duels, he'll remember something about who he is, if only just his name." Mindy explained.

The redhead boy raised an eyebrow and tilted his head in confusion.

"Red?" he asked.

"Well, we've gotta call you something until we know your real name." Mindy said.

Both 'Red' and Jasmine looked at each other and shrugged in response. Technically, she's not wrong.

"So here's my plan: you and I will have a duel right here and now, Red! And maybe, just maybe, it'll help jog your memory." Mindy said as she grabbed her deck.

"Yeah, uh, there's a slight problem with your plan there, Mindy. He doesn't have a Duel Disk or a deck." Jasmine pointed out.

Mindy visibly deflated and said "Oh yeah. I forgot about that."

"Well if it's a deck and a Duel Disk he needs, I'm sure we can lend him one of the practice decks and one of the spare Duel Disks we keep for the entrance exams."

The jumped from surprise as they saw two people standing in the door to Red's room in the infirmary. The first was a stunningly beautiful woman by the name of Fonda Fontaine. She has red hair with one bunch that sticks out over the right side of her head, large gray eyes, a heart shaped face, and curves in all the right places. She wears a variation of the uniform that Jasmine and Mindy are wearing which consists of a white jacket with blue trim, a pink skirt, and a pair of heeled boots that are the color brown. She also wears a pair of earrings and her lips are colored with a soft shade of lipstick. She's both the school nurse and the head of the Obelisk Blue girl's dormitory.

Next to her was Chancellor Sheppard, the head honcho of Duel Academy. He was tall, well-built, was bald and had a very distinct goatee. He was dressed in a uniform befitting a school headmaster only his coat was a maroon red color.

"Nurse Fontaine, Chancellor Sheppard! What are you doing here?" Jasmine asked in slight shock.

"Well I am the school's nurse, you know." Fonda said with a teasing smile. "I just came by to see how our John Doe was doing after his fall."

"Does that mean that my name is John Doe?" Red asked.

Fonda was stunned by the question for a moment, but she quickly put two and two together.

"Classic amnesia case. Likely caused by serious head trauma." she quickly deduced. "I'll have to run a few tests just to make sure that he's not suffering from any other unknown injuries, especially not ones that could become aggravated as a result of dueling."

"And as for me, I never miss a good duel. Besides, if you truly think that this could help him regain some semblance of his memories, Mindy, then it's worth a shot. We can supply our young friend here with a Duel Disk and a deck to use, but in the meantime let's let Fonda do her job and make sure he's healthy enough for this." Sheppard said.

"But Chancellor, what if it doesn't work? I mean, does he even know how to play Duel Monsters?" Jasmine asked.

Naturally, this comment riled up Mindy as she felt like her friend didn't want to even try to help Red get his memories back. And as the two argued Red looked at them and saw two similar looking robots of different color schemes arguing with one another. One was purple and black while the other was mostly blue, and they both had parts of jet planes in their construction design.

"Us against Megatron? Are you insane? Uh… I think I just sprang an oil leak." the purple robot said.

"Silence, you fool! Megatron is a worthless pile of scrap metal compared to my genius." the blue one said arrogantly.

The mini flashback stopped just in time for Red to come to a decision and catch the last bit of Jasmine and Mindy's argument.

"...It's like every time I have an idea you and Alexis always shoot it down! Why can't you be more supportive of me?" Mindy asked in anger and hurt.

"Now hold on a minute!" snapped Jasmine.

"I think you girls are reminding me of something." Red said, catching the attention of the people in the room. "I don't know what it is, but… this seems like a good idea. Let's give it a shot."

"Oh, you mean it? Alright!" cheered Mindy. "I hope you're up for it, because I'll show you dueling you've never seen before!"

Red simply nodded and sat back down as Fonda began to do an examination. But not before Chancellor Sheppard informed him that the duel would be held in three days to give both duelists ample time to prepare. In Mindy's case, this meant the possibility of fine-tuning her deck. While in Red's case it meant taking the time needed to recover after his ordeal.
