Chapter 20 Christmas Party part 2
"Haha." Sakura laughs nervously, "I was going to tell you. I'm his granddaughter." she said.
"Grandfather, you didn't give me time to tell him." Sakura said to her grandfather.
Syaoran looks at her grandfather and Sakura. He remembered when he had met with him before. He had always teased him that he could be matched up with his granddaughter. He had told him she could play the piano, she volunteers, and she will be studying to be in charge of his company. He started to see Sakura in a new light.
Sakura hugs her grandfather and looks at Syaoran. "Syaoran. Come here." Sakura waves at him to follow.
"Sakura, I want you to meet these gentlemen." Sakura's grandfather motions for her. Sakura saw three young men. They were all dressed very well and all looked very handsome. Sakura smiles awkwardly and looks at Syaoran.
"Grandfather, today I am accompanying Syaoran today." Sakura said awkwardly.
"Oh, I remember a conversation with you Li." Sakura's grandfather started, "I recalled that you didn't want to meet my granddaughter." he said very seriously and laughed.
Syaoran looks at him and says, "I-I," Syaoran didn't think the man would remember that conversation.
"Do not worry, I'm not upset. I actually think you guys look very suited for each other. I was right." he said, nodding his head in approval. Syaoran looked down and felt nervous.
Sakura quickly responds, "Grandfather!," Sakura looked back at Syaoran and felt he looked angry, "We are just friends!"
"Oh? Friends only?" her grandfather said, "Then Li, I believe it will not bother you if she met these other young gentlemen?" he asked.
Sakura's face broke as she realized this was the real intention of her grandfather. "Grandfather." Sakura said embarrassedly.
Syaoran felt something he had not felt before. He felt angry and looked at the other men and gave them a cold glare. He grabs Sakura's hand by impulse and pulls her behind him. He didn't like the way these men were looking at Sakura.
Sakura's grandfather chuckles and says, "Sakura. Would you mind chatting with me for a bit."
Sakura smiles and looks at Syaoran to let go of her hand. He suddenly realized he was holding her hand tightly. He felt embarrassed and blushed. He let go of her hand. He timidly scratched behind his head.
"I will be right back." Sakura said. Syaoran looks at her and smiles. He turned and looked around and could see all the men around them had their eyes glued on Sakura as she walked away. He grunted with frustration. He knew that she was a beautiful girl but these guys looking at her looked like they could eat her up. He was disgusted by the men. He heard Sakura laugh at something her grandfather whispered to her. Her laugh was contagious and the men were surrounded around Sakura and her grandfather. One of the boys that were around them came close to Sakura and told her a joke. She laughed at the joke and continued talking to her grandfather.
Syaoran quickly grabs a drink from a tray that had passed by him. He took a big sip out of it without looking. It tasted sweet and fruity. He hadn't tasted anything like that. He decides to drink more of it and he starts to feel light headed. He turns and sees Sakura walking back to him.
"Syaoran?" Sakura says, "Are you okay?"
Syaoran looks at Sakura and shakes his head. "I am fine," he responds.
"That's a relief. I didn't know if you wanted to dance?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran looked at the dance floor and was about to decline. When a man came up to Sakura and asked her for a dance. Syaoran squints at the man and sees he is from a good family. Sakura was about to speak when Syaoran interrupted her.
"She is going to dance with me." he said and pulled her to the dance floor. He swings her and pulls her close to him. Sakura felt her heartbeat fast. Syaoran was fuming mad that the man was trying to take Sakura away from him. But when Syaoran could smell Sakura and realized he had pulled her really close to him. He suddenly blushed from the closeness they were.
In the corner of the room, a girl was clutching her glass. She really wanted to throw it at Sakura. She suddenly felt jealous and wanted to rip Sakura away from Syaoran. She smiles at the thought that Syaoran drank the drink. She had slipped something in the drink to make him drowsy. She starts walking towards them when Eriol stops her.
"Miss Hua. I have been looking for you." Eriol said. Hua looks around Eriol and tries to push him away. She didn't want to lose sight of Syaoran and Sakura. Eriol grabs her arm and pulls her away, "I meant for you to meet my girlfriend." When Hua looks at the girl, she remembers that this was the girl that she had kidnapped. Hua felt an unease when she saw Tomoyo.
Tomoyo smiles at her and pretends to not know what has happened. Eriol had told her what had happened and wanted her to be safe. Tomoyo grabs Hua's hand.
"Hua, don't you remember me?" Tomoyo said, grabbing her hand hard. Hua pulls her hand away and rubs her wrist.
Hua's eyes flash with malice and she glares at Tomoyo. "I don't remember you." she said confidently.
"Oh? We met at my friend's house. Don't tell me you don't remember?" Tomoyo said. She smiles at her sweetly.
Hua looks at Tomoyo and feels uncomfortable around Tomoyo. Tomoyo looks at Eriol, "I don't think she remembers me."
"It's okay." Eriol looks back at Sakura and Syaoran dancing. He smiles at the thought of the two of them getting closer. After thinking for a bit an idea came up in his head. He whispers something to Tomoyo. Tomoyo giggles and laughs.
"Sorry, but Eriol just reminded me of something. We need to see my friends here." Tomoyo said. They walked away. Hua looks around for Syaoran and Sakura. But she lost sight of them. Hua's face looked terrible, the men around her walked away from her. The men around her thought she looked pretty until they caught sight of her looking insane.
Hua looks around and runs into someone she didn't want to see. The man brushes off his clothes and looks up. When he looked up he saw Hua. He smiled at her and clasped a strand of hair from her face. Hua shakes her head and tries to get away from him
"Oh, I didn't know I would meet you here." he said, smirking towards her.
"What are you doing here?" she gnashed. She recognized him immediately and took a step back.
The man chuckles at her and replies, "I was invited here."
"Su Lan! I hope you won't do anything funny." hissed Hua.
Su took a long look at her and felt disgusted with this girl. He only came over to make her feel uncomfortable. "I should remind you that you should be careful around me. You cannot treat me this way." He comes closer to her ear and whispers, "Besides, I know all your secrets." He turns away from her and laughs. Hua looks at his back and tries to think hard about what to do with him. She hated that he had a power over her that she feared.
Sakura and Syaoran were dancing so close to each other she could hear his heartbeat beating erratically. She felt nervous around him all of the sudden. She peeked at Syaoran and saw that he had an intense look and furrows his eyebrows. He looked like he was in a deep thought. Sakura looks away from him because she felt her heart pounding hard against her chest.
"Did grandfather make you feel uncomfortable?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran looked down at Sakura and could see her blushing. He didn't feel disgusted having her around. He actually felt comfortable around her. He felt at ease when she was around. He didn't know why he felt this way.
"No." He responded to her.
He felt dissatisfied when she was around other guys. He felt an emotion he had never felt. He saw a small opening to the balcony. The song ended and he looked at Sakura and smiled at her. The moment he looked at her eyes again, he felt mesmerized by her. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the balcony away from everyone.
Sakura looks at Syaoran abnormal behavior. When they finally arrived outside she asked, "Is there something wrong, Syaoran?"
He looks at her and says, "No, I just wanted to come out."
"Oh?" she nodded her head. She looks around and moves closer to the balcony ledge.
When Syaoran turned to look at her, he saw her look of concern. He smiles at her and says, "No, I am okay." He looks away before being drowned into her beautiful emerald eyes. He looks up and sees the stars with Sakura. He could hear his heartbeat go fast. His hands were getting clammy. He never experienced this feeling.
"You know I used to try to count the stars with my friend." Sakura mentions and she laughs.
Syaoran also recalls a memory with the little girl. She would want to count the stars with him. But she would often fall asleep before counting more. He thought she was being ridiculous at the time. But he misses this little girl. Sakura was starting to resemble much of the little girl. But he knew Sakura couldn't possibly be that little girl. Perhaps, that was why he felt comfortable around her.
He nods his head to continue. Sakura looks up at the sky and says, "When I was younger I would miss him and count the stars. If I could meet my friend I would feel blessed to have met him."
Syaoran looked at her and saw she was starting to feel sad from talking about this friend. "I suppose you care alot about him?" He suddenly felt a pain in his heart. He ignored the feeling that he felt.
"Of course. He was important to me." Sakura expressed this to Syaoran. She laughs and says, "I'm sorry. I didn't know I would express myself like that."
The pain that Syaoran felt didn't go away and he felt a surge of anger. He looks at her and says, "Don't worry about it." He suppressed the feeling he was experiencing.
"How are you feeling now?" Sakura asked. He looked at her and regretted looking at her. Her eyes made him feel weak all of the sudden.
"I-I" he started. Suddenly someone knocked into him from behind and he grabbed hold of Sakura as he fell on top of her to the ground. His lips had touched her lips. The taste was very fragrant and sweet. Sakura widens her eyes at Syaoran.
Syaoran's heart that was beating fast was now beating erratically. He lifted his head up to look at her. He saw she looked frightened.
"Y-You!" Sakura starts, "What are you doing?" she flustered out. She turned a deep red. This was her first kiss. She was waiting for the right guy. Now Syaoran had taken her first kiss.
Syaoran couldn't help smiling at her. Sakura looks at him and frowns. Her lips tasted exactly how he thought they would taste. Sweet.
She thought, 'Why is he smiling! He stole my kiss' She tries to shove him away. But Syaoran wouldn't budge. Sakura gives him a glare.
Syaoran felt that Sakura was pushing him. He gets up from the ground. Syaoran shakes his head from his trance. "I'm sorry, that was an accident." Syaoran said seriously.
"Y-You stole my first kiss." Sakura exclaimed. But she just realized what she had said out loud and she covered her mouth with her hands. Syaoran started to look at her seriously. He thought she looked adorable with her expressions. He gets up and pulls her up with him. Sakura got up but was close to him. She looked into his amber eyes and didn't know how to look away. She saw a light glare at them.
Sakura and Syaoran turned and looked to see a camera that snapped a picture of them. "Sakura, you looked so adorable looking at Li." Tomoyo said out loud. Sakura and Syaoran jumped away from each other.
"T-Tomoyo." Sakura stuttered. She closed her eyes and hoped that Tomoyo didn't see them kiss.
"Sakura, are you blushing?" Tomoyo teased.
"N-No. I am not." Sakura denied. She turns away from them. She could hear Tomoyo laughing. "S-Stop laughing at me."
"Okay, Okay. " Tomoyo said.
"I was looking for Li." Tomoyo said. She looks over at Meiling who was standing next to Eriol. Meiling was smiling at Sakura and Syaoran. Before they had come, Meiling had caught sight of Syaoran accidentally kissing Sakura before Tomoyo had met up with her. She was laughing inside because she had a big plan to bring them together. But before she could even implement the plan Syaoran had snuck a kiss with Sakura. She continued to laugh in her head when she heard someone calling her name. This Ying Fa had no chance.
"Meiling?" Tomoyo kept calling her out. Meiling looks at Tomoyo and clears her throat.
"Haha. I wanted to speak to you guys about something." Meiling said, "I've been thinking about the problem you've been having with Syaoran."
Syaoran's head snaps up at Meiling. He quickly looks at Sakura and then back at Meiling. "What problem are you talking about Meiling?" Syaoran said quickly. He didn't know what would be coming out of Meiling's mouth. He stared at her down and hoped she wasn't going to say something embarrassing about him. He paused for a moment and thought, 'Why did he care what Sakura thought of him?'
"Sakura, I have a huge favor to ask of you," Meiling said, grabbing Sakura's hands. Sakura was frightened from Meiling grabbing her hands.
"Uh? Yes?" Sakura asked nervously.
"Well. Actually it's a favor for Syaoran." Meiling said, "You see Syaoran has this girl trying to leech onto our family."
Syaoran squints his eyes and is trying to comprehend where Meiling was going with this.
"You see, I need you to pretend to be Syaoran's girlfriend." Meiling bursted out.
"W-What?" Sakura and Syaoran exclaimed.
"Hold on, I said pretend okay?" Meiling said, "You remember that girl Hua Wang. Well, she is a terrible girl, Sakura."
"But Meiling, Syaoran and I don't know much about each other." Sakura replies
"Syaoran. Syaoran," Meiling said slowly, "Did you just call my cousin, Syaoran?" she asked in shock.
"Yes. We agreed to call each other that." Sakura said very nonchalantly.
"Syaoran! You agreed to have her call you, Syaoran?" Meiling asked dumbfounded. She had never heard anyone call him by his name besides family. She quickly thought, 'Wow! This is escalating faster than I thought' She felt so happy the thought of them two together. She saw them had a kiss and this news of Sakura calling him by his name. This would be easy peasy for her.
Syaoran looked at Meiling and saw she was thinking very fast in her head. "Meiling," he said.
Meiling looks at him and realizes she was caught by Syaoran. She laughs nervously and says, "I think you and Sakura look great together." she admitted, "Besides, isn't she a great candidate to have against Hua Wang?" she said, raising her eyebrow at Syaoran.
Sakura was confused by their conversation. Syaoran looks at Sakura briefly and thinks for a moment. "I will think about it." He pulls Sakura and brings her back inside to the party.
Sakura looks up at Syaoran and is confused. "D-Do you need my help? Syaoran?" Sakura asked him. He turns and looks at her. He pulls her into the corner with her back to the wall.
"S-Syaoran. What are you going to do?" Sakura said nervously. Syaoran smirks at her and smiles.
"If you agree to be my," he paused for a moment, "fake girlfriend. We will have to be close like this." He whispers in her ear. Sakura could feel this breath was so close to her. Her heartbeat was beating so fast. When she looked up to him, she felt like in a trance. Syaoran gently raises her chin and he closes in on her.
"So what do you say? Do you want to be my fake girlfriend?" He asked her gently. Sakura nods her head without thinking of the repercussions.
"Good. Because I just saw Hua somewhere." he lowers his head and kisses her on the lips. He couldn't help himself as all he wanted was to just give her a kiss. He started gently with the kiss and started to feel encouraged when Sakura started to respond to his kiss. He pulls her closer to him. She wraps her arm around his neck as he deepens the kiss.
She never felt this way about anyone before and her heartbeat beats faster. She could taste his lips and they were so soft against her lips. Syaoran slowly looks up at her again and wipes her lips with his finger. He wanted to taste her lips again and felt intoxicated by her.
