An Amazing Aerial Battle!
"Mistralton City, we've made it!" Ash exclaimed as he looked over the city upon arrival, it had been a few weeks since they'd left Driftveil and Ash was eagerly anticipating his sixth Gym badge! An airplane flew through the air above and began making it's descent upon the city's airport, Hilda narrowed her eyes as she squinted before letting out a shot.
"I think that was Skyla's plane!"
"The Gym Leader's a pilot?" Ash questioned.
"Of course Ash, don't you remember that the Gym Leaders here have hobbies that don't revolve around battling? Cilan is a Pokemon Connoisseur and his brothers are chefs, Lenora runs a museum, Burgh is an artist, Roxie is a rock star, Elesa is a fashion model, Clay is a mayor and miner, Skyla's a pilot, Brycen is an actor and Drayden... well he doesn't have any hobbies." Iris lightly sweated upon finishing reminding Ash of the fact.
"That must mean she specializes in Flying types then," Ash guessed. "Alright Pikachu looks like you'll have your chance to shine here!"
"Pika!" Pikachu flicked his tail as the two eagerly looked towards the Gym.
"I say we get going right away, I can't wait to earn my sixth badge!"
"Pi Pikachu!"
"Ash wait there's something you should know about Skyla, she-" Iris was about to speak up only for Ash to not hear her as he and Pikachu bolted right for the Mistralton City Gym! Iris facepalmed and uttered out a light sigh before following on after him. "Why is he always so impatient?"
"That's Ash for you, whenever there's a strong opponent to fight he'll hardly ever see reason or slow down." Brock chuckled.
Ash arrived at Mistralton Gym only to let out a rather loud groan upon seeing the long line in front of him. "This is going to take forever!"
"Pika!" Pikachu snapped his fingers from frustration. The two were quickly surprised however as the line suddenly advanced by a great amount while several trainers left the Gym, some having the badge in hand while others did not and looked visibly frustrated.
"Huh? There's no way that they all could have gotten done so quickly!" Ash tilted his head as something was definitely not right here! More trainers entered and left the Gym within minutes resulting in Ash narrowing his eyes suspiciously while a younger trainer, most likely having just started his journey as he appeared to be ten years old, went racing on out with a delighted look as he held up his badge.
"We did it, Riolu! Just one more badge and we'll have the seven we need to enter the Unova League!"
"Rio!"
"Uh kid, sorry to break it to you but you need eight badges." Ash corrected the kid causing his eyes to quickly widen before a panicked look crossed his face.
"Ah! We've got to get moving, Riolu let's go!"
"Rio!"
"I know I was an idiot when I was that age but I wasn't that dumb was I?" Ash looked towards Pikachu who snickered lightly as he shook his head.
"Next!" Ash was brought back to reality as a female voice called out. He entered the Gym and was surprised to see several trainers following him inside, he raised his eyebrow before turning to them with a light glare.
"What gives, it's my turn!"
"You're new here, kid? Skyla battles up to five trainers at once." Now Ash was really getting suspicious as there was no way on earth that somebody could be skilled enough to focus on five different battles all at once.
Ash and the others walked up to the battlefield where Skyla was waiting, an unamused expression was present on her face as she gazed upon her newest challengers. She gave a light wave of her hand as she beckoned the trainers to send forth their Pokemon.
"Alright Sawk, let's do this!" Ash recognized the voice causing him to briefly turn his head to see the trainer known as Stephan standing next to him!
"Stephen, hi! It's good to see you've made it this far!" Stephan immediately face faulted as he uttered out a light groan.
"Actually it's Stephan... but thanks, great to see you've made it here too." At least Ash knew somebody who had the same progress as him, Trip had left for his seventh badge weeks ago and from what Hilda said Cheren had already gathered his eight badges!
"Pikachu you ready for this?" Ash asked, Pikachu clutched his fists before he leaped from Ash's shoulder and onto the battlefield with an eager expression while Stephan's Sawk burst out next to him! Other Pokemon such as Liepard, Seviper and what appeared to be Klink's pre-evolved form burst out alongside Ash and Stephan's Pokemon while Ash reached out for his Pokedex.
"Klang the Gear Pokemon, a minigear and big gear comprise its body. If the minigear it launches at a foe doesn't return it will die!" Ash turned and noticed Cilan had entered the Gym. The Pokemon Connoisseur began shaking as he gave the Pokedex a nervous look.
"I swear that thing is haunted!"
"Oh Cilan you worry too much, how could a Pokedex even be haunted?" Iris rolled her eyes lightly while Cilan continued staring at the Pokedex with an unsure look.
Skyla rubbed the bottom of her chin as she looked the Pokemon over, Ash tilted his head as it appeared as if she weren't releasing any Pokemon of her own? Her hands weren't even touching her Pokeballs! He even glanced towards the roof in case her Flying types laid in wait but nothing was up there!
"You win," Skyla pointed at Ash causing him to let out a surprised gasp before his blood quickly began boiling over with rage. Skyla then pointed towards Sawk. "You lose, you win, you lose, you win! Next!"
"Hold up you can't be serious!" Ash growled out as Skyla held out a badge shaped like a blue feather to him and the other 'winners'. "You're a Gym Leader you should know how this works!"
Skyla narrowed her eyes as she looked directly at him. "Look kid, battles just aren't the same to me anywhere. Not since..." Skyla went silent before noticing Hilda behind him. Skyla raised her eyebrow as hope shined in her eyes for a brief moment, the red head quickly looked around before resuming her usual look. "So I perform 'air battles' within my head, if an opponent uses a Pokemon that can easily best me I'll give them a badge but if you're too weak or have a type disadvantage then I win!"
"You can't do that! As a Gym Leader you have a responsibility to be a role model to new trainers and show them respect by giving it your all!" Brock shouted out with a rather angry tone as Cilan and Iris didn't look pleased either seeing how Cilan was a former Gym Leader much like Brock while Iris was training to become one!
"Yeah, you can't just give away freebies! How on earth will we ever see a challenger of worth fight Alder if every Gym Leader thought like you did?" Cilan shouted.
"You just sound like a coward, what are you afraid of losing?!" Iris shouted.
"Axew ew!" Axew chimed in alongside his trainer.
Skyla crossed her arms as she gave them all a harsh look. "You'd avoid battling too if all it did was remind you of somebody you lost!" Skyla shouted back, her fists clenched before she turned and ran on out of the Gym. Hilda stared after her for a moment before quickly giving chase as she followed Skyla through the city before eventually arriving at the airport where Skyla dropped to her knees alongside her plane and stared off. "I don't want you back, those feelings have long since died... I just want to know why, why did you run off?!" She searched up every League conference she could find on the Pokenet the past few years in a blind attempt at tracking her former friend down but it was always to no avail, no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't find him anywhere!
"Battles remind of you Zach, don't they?" Hilda asked as she sat next to Skyla, Skyla cast her a look before looking away to hide her tears.
"What are you even doing here, Hilda? You never wanted to do the League challenge..."
"I'm traveling with good friends of mine, we're traveling Unova together just like you, Zach and Chili did!" Hilda exclaimed before looking towards her feet. "And it's not your fault you know, it's not that he didn't want to contact you it's more that he couldn't. You know Team Plasma, right?"
"T-Those kooks who think we're forcing Pokemon to battle?" Skyla questioned.
"Well the leader, Ghetsis captured Zach shortly after he ended his call with me all those years ago. He never even got to Hoenn let alone the boat, Ghetsis used strange technology that forced his Pokemon to return to their Pokeballs where he proceeded to crush and k-kill them..."
Skyla's eyes widened upon hearing that. "What happened to him afterwards...?"
"He was taken back and brainwashed into becoming Ghetsis' loyal servant, it took the combined efforts of me and Lucario to break him out of it and return him to normal. You see Ghetsis wanted him to raise a team of strong nearly unbeatable Pokemon for his personal use, and then used him again to unseal an ancient evil from it's prison before attempting to kill him which I still don't understand why as he hadn't broken free yet, no loose ends I guess?"
"Where is he now?" Skyla questioned.
"I-I don't know, he did call in the middle of the night a few days ago to ensure me that he was okay. He's got somebody with him but all I know is that it's a girl, she sounds nice from what few words I heard her saying in the background!" Hilda's words caused Skyla to smile lightly as she stared off.
"Sounds like he's met his soulmate," Skyla then looked back towards Hilda. "Why didn't he call me though?"
"Oh he assumed that you hate him for missing your date, he thought you wouldn't even let him talk if he tried."
"Ah, I understand." Skyla nodded lightly before standing up with a sigh. "Look I'd battle your friend but I just can't..."
"You know Ash is just going to pester you until you agree to a match, I'd accept his challenge if I were you." Hilda warned her. "Just agree to this one battle and if you insist on doing battles in the way you've been doing them... you can go back to it once you've finished with him."
Skyla clenched her fists as she cast Hilda a look before sighing out. "He sounds like a combination of Chili and Zach... okay, I'll do it."
"You got her to agree to a battle?! Thanks so much!" Ash flashed Hilda a grateful smile as the group began making their way back to Mistralton Gym where Skyla was said to be waiting for them.
"Well I kind of implied that you'd pester her until she agreed." Hilda nervously rubbed the back of her neck as she lightly chuckled.
"Yep that sounds just like our Ash!" Brock laughed, Iris joined on in while Ash blushed nervously.
"Heh, well thanks all the same. Pikachu and I are looking forward to this!"
"Pika!"
"Just return the favor by winning here, I'm not sure I can get her to agree to a rematch." Ash gave a light nod in response before they walked on through the Gym doors where Skyla was already waiting on her side of the field, she tossed a ball up and down while she looked Ash over.
"Alright so the Mistralton Gym rules state that each side will use five Pokemon while the standard Gym rules apply, no cheating and only the challenger can switch out Pokemon. You ready?"
"Of course, I was born ready!" Ash stated with clenched fists while an eager smile crossed his face.
"Pika pi!"
"Gigalith I choose you!"
"Giga!" Gigalith slammed against the ground as he burst from his ball.
"Archeops, take flight!"
"Arch!" A prehistoric bird Pokemon with quite the colorful array of feathers appeared on the ground in front of Skyla, his eyes narrowed as he gave Gigalith a harsh look before stretching out his wings as he released a loud ear shattering shriek!
"That's one of the fossil Pokemon, right?" Ash questioned as he vaguely recalled seeing the fossil belonging to the Pokemon's pre-evolved form back in the Nacrene Museum.
"Archeops the First Bird Pokemon, it runs better than it flies. It catches prey by running at speeds comparable to those of an automobile!"
"Alright Gigalith let's start off with Sandstorm!" Gigalith had the Sand Force ability so his Rock and Ground attacks would become even stronger so long as the sandstorm was active! Gigalith let out a cry as a fierce sandstorm started blowing across the battlefield, making it difficult to see anything! However both Gigalith and Archeops could see perfectly fine despite the others having their view constricted.
"Earthquake!" They'd feel the ground shaking beneath them followed by a grunt from Gigalith.
"Power Gem!" Ash shouted while throwing out an arm. The crystals along Gigalith's back began to glow allowing them to briefly see him through the sandstorm, a large red energy beam fired from the crystals and blasted across the field! Archeops let out a shout as he was hit by the blast, a soft thud was heard before the sandstorm started to die out allowing them to see the defeated form of Archeops as swirls filled his eyes.
"Alright, we did it!" Ash punched the air as he cheered. "Way to go Gigalith!"
"Giga!"
Skyla returned Archeops with an unamused expression, she wasn't directing it towards her Pokemon but Ash himself. "You just got lucky, both our Pokemon were capable of taking the other out. Mandibuzz let's take flight!" Skyla threw forth another ball, a vulture Pokemon appeared and stretched out her wings as she let out a light cry to show her eagerness to battle. Skyla smiled lightly before throwing out her arm. "Bone Rush!"
An aura charged bone appeared in Mandibuzz's talons as she quickly swooped across the Gym and prepared to strike her opponent!
"Blind her with Sandstorm!"
"Giga!" A fierce sandstorm kicked up but luck wasn't on Ash's side as they'd hear a loud thud as Mandibuzz beat the large Rock type with her bone club! Gigalith toppled over and let out a groan as he laid in defeat.
"Gigalith return," Ash aimed his ball at the sandstorm, returning Gigalith while offering the ball a light smile. "You were great out there." Skyla blinked lightly as she remembered Zach used to address his Pokemon in a similar manner.
"Mandibuzz the Bone Vulture Pokemon, they fly in circles around the sky. When they spot prey they attack and carry it back to their nest with ease!"
"Alright Rufflet I choose you!"
"Rufflet!" The eaglet Pokemon burst from his ball and fluttered his wings as he gazed towards his much larger opponent. Mandibuzz licked her lips at the sight of him resulting in Rufflet letting out a light gulp before giving off a glare of determination!
"Dark Pulse!" A beam of black and purple circles blasted out of Mandibuzz's beak and soared across the air towards Rufflet!
"Dodge with Brave Bird!" Rufflet's body became surrounded in a blue aura as he swooped up into the air above, the small eaglet focused his gaze on Mandibuzz and uttered out a light shriek as his body became engulfed in a bright burning orange light as he swooped down upon his opponent and knocked her out of the air!
"Mandibuzz!" The vulture shrieked out from shock while Skyla looked up at Rufflet with a slightly impressed gaze.
"You taught him Brave Bird? Well done, not many trainers can pull that attack off."
"Well I already had experience with the move, my Staraptor knows it." Ash chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"You own a Staraptor?!" Skyla gasped out, excitement and jealousy shined in her eyes as she gazed in his direction.
"And plenty of other Flying types as well!" Ash lightly smirked.
"Pika pi!" Pikachu tapped his chest as he confirmed what his trainer had stated. Skyla gazed towards him in amazement before shaking her head as she returned focus to the battle.
"Attract!"
"Close your eyes, let me be your guide!" Ash shouted. Rufflet closed his eyes, displaying just how much trust he had in his trainer. "Fly straight ahead and knock her away with Steel Wing!" Rufflet swooped through the air, his wings shined a bright silver as he brought them down upon Mandibuzz! The vulture let out a shriek of pain as her Attract got canceled out allowing for Rufflet to safely open his eyes.
"Slash!" Rufflet slashed his wings at Mandibuzz, finishing the job as the vulture went crashing to the ground below before landing in a defeated slump before Skyla. Skyla looked down at Mandibuzz before slowly looking back up at Rufflet.
"Huh, I thought the outcome would be the complete opposite of this."
"Well you'd be wrong, Rufflet may not be evolved yet but he's still plenty strong! Right Rufflet?!"
"Rufflet!" Rufflet cried out shortly before his body became engulfed in a bright blue light. His light grey feathers turned dark blue while his body began quadrupling in size! The feathers along his back turned red while his tail feathers extended outwards and turned a similar red color, a yellow line grew near the tip of his tail feathers as a blue color formed at the tip! The white feathers remained around Rufflet's head but grew larger and more plentiful while his beak and talons extended outwards! The eagle Pokemon let out a loud shriek as he extended his wings!
"Braviary!"
"You evolved!" Ash's eyes light up as they took in the sight of his newly evolved Pokemon. Braviary turned to Ash and let out a shriek of pleasure as he gave his trainer a loving look. "Let's see what the Pokedex has to say about you."
"Braviary the Valiant Pokemon, they fight for their friends without any thought about danger to themselves. One can carry a car while flying!"
"Awesome, I've got to ride on your back someday! That is if you don't mind." Ash chuckled.
"Brav!" Braviary nodded his head showcasing that he was okay with Ash doing so.
"A Braviary, huh?" Skyla flashed a light smirk. "Drifblim let's take flight!"
Ash had to admit he was a bit disappointed to see the familiar Sinnoh Pokemon, he was hoping to see more Flying types that he hadn't seen yet!
"Alright Braviary let's go with another Brave Bird!"
"Bra!" Braviary began to glow in a blue aura as he took to the skies once more!
"Thunderbolt!" Drifblim began to spark shortly before releasing a powerful electrical blast! Braviary cried out as the electricity surged through her body, the newly evolved Pokemon's eyes began rolling upwards before he plummeted from the air and crashed! Braviary landed on his back, tongue hanging from his beak as swirls filled his eyes.
"Bra..."
"Braviary return, you were great out there!" Ash offered Braviary a kind and loving smile as he returned the eagle to his ball. Ash turned his gaze towards Drifblim before he reached for a different Pokeball.
"Krokorok I choose you!"
"Kroko!" Krokorok crossed his arms upon bursting from his ball, a sly smirk crossed his face at the sight of the Ghost type before he looked towards his trainer and flashed him a thumbs up!
"Dark Pulse!" A beam of black and purple circles blasted out of Krokorok's mouth, exploding against Drifblim's body as the Ghost released a painful moan.
"Icy Wind!" Drifblim released a icy cold wind from her body resulting in Krokorok shaking lightly as the cold met his body, an unpleasant look quickly crossed his face.
"Kroko..."
"Don't worry Krokorok, we've got this! Use Sandstorm!" Krokorok extended his arms and let out a cry as the battlefield quickly became covered in a thick stream of sand. "Now use Dark Pulse!"
The pulse of dark purple and black energy fired out from the sandstorm and blasted up towards Drifblim, curiously however Skyla didn't make an attempt to dodge it as it made impact with Drifblim!
"Payback!" Drifblim flew down into the sandstorm as a loud slap was heard before Krokorok was sent flying out!
"Kroko!"
"Alright!" Skyla clenched her fists as a smile crossed her face, quickly finding herself absorbed into the battle. "Now finish him with an Icy Wind!" Drifblim released another blast of icy cold wind from her body, striking Krokorok before he could make another move and the crocodile wind up collapsing from exhaustion in front of his trainer!
Ash stared at Krokorok for a brief moment before smiling lightly. "Don't worry about the rest of us Krokorok, we'll win this! Take a good long rest." He returned Krokorok and reached for the ball containing Dewott.
"Dewott I choose you!"
"Dewott!" Dewott cheerfully cried out as he emerged from his ball.
"Let's finish this with Blizzard!" Dewott extended his arms as a fierce blizzard filled the battlefield, sending snow and ice flying towards Drifblim at an incredible speed!
"Destiny Bond!" Ash's eyes widened before he cursed beneath his breath as the ice made contact with Drifblim! The Ghost/Flying type let out a light cry as she fell from the air, Dewott collapsed right on cue as both Pokemon laid in defeat!
"This is the closest Ash has been to losing!" Iris gasped out. "He's only got one Pokemon left while Skyla has two!"
Ash clenched his fists lightly as he knew they were cutting it close but they couldn't give up now, if they lost then Skyla would most likely refuse a rematch and since he refused to take a freebie badge he'd have to go even longer before earning his sixth Gym badge and he couldn't afford to remain behind much longer!
"Pikachu you ready?"
"Pika!" Pikachu leaped from Ash's shoulder as his cheeks lightly sparked.
"Swoobat let's take flight!"
"Swoobat!" A blue bat Pokemon with what appeared to be a pink heart shaped mouth appeared before Ash and Pikachu, her black wings fluttered through the air as Ash removed his Pokedex once more.
"Swoobat the Courting Pokemon, the auspicious shape of this Pokemon's nose apparently led some regions to consider Swoobat a symbol of good luck."
"Well it's about time that luck was on our side, let's prove the Pokedex wrong! Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Ash shouted as he threw out his arm.
"Pika..." Pikachu's cheeks sparked before he fired off a bolt of electricity! "Chuuu!"
"Swoo!" Swoobat cried out as the electricity surged through her, her body looked slightly scorched but she remained in fighting shape!
"Psychic!" Swoobat's eyes glowed bright blue as she started lifting Pikachu off the ground!
"Fight it with Volt Tackle!"
"Pika!" Pikachu's body became encased in a yellow electrical light as he started running in place, Swoobat let out a grunt as she tried slamming Pikachu back against the ground only to find Pikachu breaking free of her telekinetic hold, the electrical mouse blasted through the air like a rocket and slammed his electricity covered body against her! Swoobat let out a cry as electricity surged through her once more before she swiftly dropped down in defeat as swirls filled her eyes.
"Swoo..."
"Swoobat return," Skyla returned Swoobat to her ball as she looked up at Pikachu with an impressive gaze. "That Pikachu sure is something, it's spirit is even stronger than a certain Lucario's! But will that be enough for you to beat my ace? Swanna take flight!"
"Swanna!" A beautiful white swan emerged in a burst of bright light, the swan seemed to be undisturbed by the sight of Pikachu!
"Swanna the White Bird Pokemon, despite their elegant appearance they can flap their wings strongly and fly for thousands of miles!"
"Tailwind!" Skyla threw out her arm as a sharp wind began blowing behind Swanna! "Now use Ice Beam on the ground!"
Swanna blasted the battlefield with a beam of ice, quickly covering it with a sheet of ice. Skyla was definitely smart enough to realize that Pikachu would struggle with his speed if the field was ice!
"Thunderbolt!" Pikachu's cheeks sparked as he fired off another bolt of electricity, Swanna quickly flew away from the electric bolt thanks to her boosted speed from the Tailwind!
"Steel Wing!" Swanna's wings glowed silver as she swooped down and aimed for Pikachu as she swiftly moved across the field!
"Use Iron Tail and launch yourself into the air!"
"Huh?" Skyla tilted her head as she wondered what on earth he had in mind. Pikachu's tail glowed silver as he dug into the ice, cracking it as he launched himself into the air and he'd soon find himself directly upon the back of Swanna! Swanna looked behind her with an alarmed gasp as Pikachu's cheeks sparked to spark.
"Use Iron Tail and knock her out of the sky back where you were!" Pikachu swung his tail as he smacked the beautiful swan right out of the sky, sending her crashing right where Pikachu had been seconds before as a puddle of water splashed onto her body! Skyla's eyes widened as she cast a look towards Ash. Was that his plan?!
"Thunderbolt!"
"Pika... chuuu!"
"Swanna!" The swan cried out as her water covered body only increased the strength of the attack! The swan toppled face forward against the icy ground as swirls filled her eyes. "Swanna..."
"Alright Pikachu, we did it!"
"Pika!" Skyla watched as Ash and Pikachu shared a high five, Pikachu's tail smacking against Ash's hand. Skyla smiled as she remembered Lucario and Zach having a similar stance after a battle consisting of a fist bump that the two of them shared before giving each other a hug. Skyla returned Swanna to her ball as she started stepping forward, a lot more emotion present across her face as the battle along with Ash himself had reignited her spirit! Skyla extended her hand to Ash as a faint blush crossed her face.
"This is the Jet badge, you fought well here today and helped me rediscover the joys of battling! I trust that you'll go far in life and I'd like to wish you good luck,"
"Thanks Skyla, I-" Ash took the badge and found his words interrupted as Skyla gave his cheek a light peck as she flashed him a smile. Iris' eye twitched as her body shook from the sight while Ash merely rubbed the side of his cheek as a blush of his own formed while Brock couldn't help but smirk at the sight. Skyla was most definitely cute but he had no time for romance, he couldn't afford to let something like that slow him down! Ash shook his head lightly before turning his gaze towards Pikachu.
"Alright we just got the Jet Badge!"
"Pi Pikachu!" The two of them posed as Skyla released a light giggle from the sight.
"Alright now it's my time!" Stephan burst into the Gym and flexed his muscles as his partner Pokemon Sawk copied his trainer. "Prepare to lose, Skyla!"
"Good luck Stephen!" Ash wished his rival good luck before the red head quickly face faulted upon somebody getting his name wrong.
"It's Stephan..."
"The path through Twist Mountain is blocked? Are you kidding me?!" Ash groaned out as they stood a few days out from Mistralton City. "No wonder Trip turned around, why didn't he warn me?"
"Maybe because he doesn't like you?" Iris shrugged. "He didn't even think you'd make it this far, I doubt he expected you to beat Clay and Skyla."
"Speaking of which, does that mean Trip just chose to take her badge?" Hilda questioned as everyone went silent for a moment realizing that Hilda had a point. Although Trip was ahead of him Ash still had superior morals!
"So we've got to go all the way back to Nimbasa and head out the eastern exit, then we'll head east before arriving on the eastern coat and Undella Town, then we'll head north through the White Forest and Black City before eventually reaching Humilau City where the next closest Gym awaits!" Cilan revealed as he looked down at his map while Ash let out a loud groan.
"That'll take forever! Isn't there a quicker way to do this?"
"We could ask Skyla for a ride to eastern Unova, I'm sure she won't mind. She loves flying so I'm sure she'd love having some passengers!"
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask since we're passing through anyways." Ash lightly shrugged before the group turned back to Mistralton City.
While Ash and Hilda went off to ask Skyla, Iris had taken Cilan aside so that they could train together.
"Alright Axew use Dragon Pulse!" Axew fired a pulse of green and purple dragon shaped energy from his mouth, the energy blast sent Pansage flying through the air before his defeated form landed in Cilan's arms. As Cilan comforted his defeated Pokemon Axew began holding his head and groaning lightly causing Iris to tilt her head with a concerned look. "Axew, what's wrong?"
"Axew!" Axew was surrounded in a bright blue light as his body began to change, his scales started changing to a black coloring while the scales on his upper body began turning a dark green! Sharp red claws extended from his hands and feet, the tip of his tail turned red as three red splotches appeared on his stomach. Axew's tusks began flattening and extending outwards while his eyes lost their cute factor and were now a bright red color!
"Fraxure!"
"Oh wow, Axew evolved!" Ash exclaimed as he and Hilda happened to return right that second. Ash pulled out his Pokedex in order to read up on the species.
"Fraxure the Axe Jaw Pokemon, their tusks can shatter rocks. Territory battles between Fraxure can be intensely violent!"
Iris let out a squeal as she dropped to her knees and pulled Fraxure in for a hug. "You know what this means?! We can go to the Valley of the Dragons and capture that Salamence! We'll prove to Drayden that we're capable of becoming Gym Leaders!"
"Fraxure!" The two locked eyes as they were looking forward to passing the test that Drayden had set for them!
