![]() Author has written 9 stories for Harry Potter, and Twilight. Okay I am using my profile to vent some of my frusteration with the Harry Potter universe. I'll begin at the beginning with Hagrid. Everyone thinks that Hagrid is this huge giant idiot that has no redeeming qualities other than his loyalty to Dumbledore and that in itself is stupid in most fanfiction stories since quite a few have Dumbledore as the most maipulative man in the magical world. Hagrid was going to Hogwarts to become a wizard and was doing fairly well I suppose since he hadn't dropped out and was only kicked out after being blamed for opening the Chamber of Secrets. He knows magic, it runs through his veins yet he is always painted as more brawn than brain. I think its sad that even after Voldemorts return and the Order of the Phoenix brought back that no one sees fit to equip him with a magical weapon or a wand for crying out loud your in a war with a wizard that was almost completely and utterly in control of the wizarding world first time around. Ron. In my books Ron should have been a secondary character from the start that only popped up when Harry had a question about the wizarding world someone that Harry helped and befriended but wasn't with every single minute of the day. Hermione. Canon is so up and down with this girl putting her on a pedestal for her brilliance and individual thinking and then pulling her back when it comes to authority figures. She makes a strong stand against those in authority even when those people are wrong. Third year is the killer for me because she is given a time turner for extra classes after she spent a great deal of time petrified during her second year. Yes she was able to make up the exams but hell the girl loved to study and pick apart the homework, something which earned her the titls of a 'know it all book worm'. I don't think she would settle for just passing the exams instead of knowing the material up, down, left and right. If anything I believe she should have been given the time turner as a way to sudy magic deeper in recognition of being the 'brightest witch of the age'. It could have been something that many 3rd years were given over time. Harry. Personally I think Harry is bi-polar. No offense intended but he hangs with Ron and slacks off and then he pulls enough magic out of his rear to make Hermione believe that he is truly a great wizard. And I find funny that everyone thinks that the child abuse is a big deal in the wizarding world. BS. Your talking about a world where words are dangerous and poor Neville is dropped out of windows just to see if he is magical. Honestly I don't think of the magical world as a place that coddles their children more like it's a place that believes children should be trained and pushed until they are wizards and witches. Another thing is Hogwarts...Training children for ten months then allowing them to go home for two months to see family just doesn't sound right to me. Essentially I think of Hogwarts as a giant apprentice program where you are training future generations how to use the magic that will is part of who they are and who they will be. I think shorter breaks spread out more would better serve them but I can't put too much on that because I always loved summer break. |
