Chapter 54: Preparing For Battle
Last Time everyone was still reeling from the battle with Buu, but there was no time to mourn. Goku teaches Goten and Trunks the Fusion Dance so that the two can fight Buu. Meanwhile, a healed Gohan is brought to the Supreme Kai's world to train with the Z Sword.
Everyone is preparing for the battle with the three Buus once they break free in only a few days! Will our heroes be ready to win against the Buus? Find out Now!
Kami's Lookout…
"Remember, you'll only have a year inside, so do your best with your training and no slacking off!" Piccolo reminded as he led Goten and Trunks to the Time Chamber.
"Right." The Two Half-Saiyans replied.
It was the morning after Buu was sealed, and the time had come to begin preparations to fight Buu. Currently, Trunks and Goten were being led by Piccolo to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. They would have started earlier, but Bulma and Chi-Chi wanted to let them rest first.
"Don't push yourselves too hard, okay!" Bulma requested as the group arrived at the entrance to the Time Chamber.
"And if you feel like you need to come out early, that is also okay," Chi-Chi added as they said their goodbyes, and Piccolo sighed.
"Okay, we're here. Now steel yourselves for the Time Chamber is not for the faint of heart." Piccolo warned as he opened the door to the chamber.
Within the room was a pure white void with nothing around for the eye to see. Goten and Trunks nodded to one another as they entered. Once inside, Piccolo closed the door, sealing them inside until the next day where a year would have passed for them.
"Are they really going to be okay?" Bulma asked.
"They'll be fine. They're Half Saiyans, so they'll manage." Piccolo responded as he left the mothers there to return to help develop the next steps of the plan.
"What are the conditions like in there?" Jason asked as Piccolo entered the hall.
"It's a void of nothingness that changes in condition drastically, ranging from chilling cold to searing heat. Additionally, the further you go in, the higher the gravity." Piccolo explained.
"Rough for two kids," Jason commented.
"While that may be, we don't have much of a choice. Besides Go…Gohan had gone in when he was ten. They're not too much younger." Piccolo replied.
"Alright. But we still need to figure out who will be fighting which Buu in two days." Jason pointed out.
"Too true. How do you think you can hold up alone on one of the Buus?" Piccolo inquired.
"I think I can manage one alone, so it's best for everyone to take the other two without me," Jason responded.
"Fair enough," Piccolo replied as they walked down the hall towards the outside.
"Since we're going to be five fighters in total, we should have two people per Buu, with me being the exception," Jason suggested.
"Good idea. I'll take Gotenks while Elias and 18 will be a team. This way, the power difference can balance out." Piccolo stated.
""Also, I don't think 18 or Elias would want to deal with Gotenks's cocky attitude." Jason pointed out.
"That too." Piccolo sighed as they rejoined the others outside.
"Alright, Trunks and Goten are in the chamber. Now we need to find out where we are putting the Buus." Piccolo announced to everyone present.
"It's best to place them somewhere they won't do much damage. Like a desert." Elias suggested.
"They're plenty of those to choose from that and wastelands that are far from cities," Piccolo replied.
"However, due to Buus revival, the terrain of the planet seems to have changed a bit. I don't know what it will look like down there." Piccolo revealed.
"Is it going to be a problem?" 18 questioned.
"It shouldn't, but you never know," Piccolo answered.
"So be careful of the environment. Good to know." Jason sighed.
"Out of curiosity, couldn't we take them to another planet?" Krillin inquired.
"We could, but we don't know any good candidates for it. Preferably we would want an empty, lifeless planet so as to not put life in danger, but we don't know any." Jason began.
"Plus, it would involve me taking everyone too and from, and without a proper energy signature to lock on to, it would be pretty hard to use Instant Transmission." Jason finished.
"Which means it'll be easier for all of us to fight him here. Thankfully we still have the second wish from the Dragon Balls in six months but even so, let's not depend on that." Piccolo pointed out.
"I've already scoped the perfect three areas for you all to fight in," Dende announced.
"You did?" Jason asked as Dende nodded.
"Good work Dende." Piccolo complimented.
"Thanks, I wouldn't be much of a Guardian of Earth if I did nothing." Dende thanked as he pulled out a map.
"The first is this barren valley here. Not too many animals live here, and there aren't any people for miles." Dende began.
"Second is this grassland that has no cities or towns nearby. But there are some dinosaurs that lurk around the area." Dende continued.
"Finally is this forest. I would like to avoid areas like this where there is some wildlife, but most of the land has shifted and is still unstable." Dende went on.
"Any more disturbances in those areas will be catastrophic." Dende finished.
"So we have our locations out. Now we just need to prepare ourselves for the fight." Jason stated.
"How many senzu beans will we have?" Piccolo inquired.
"Four," Dende responded.
"Korrin is unfortunately on short supply," Dende added.
"Oh well. We'll have to deal with it." Piccolo sighed.
"I can go without a bean. You guys can take them." Jason offered.
"Are you sure that will be okay? We still don't know the full strength of these individual Buus." Piccolo asked.
"I'll be fine," Jason assured.
"Make sure you are because I don't want to face your wife's anger if you don't come back." Piccolo insisted.
"Trust me, I don't want to piss off my wife either." Jason chuckled.
"Yeah, Neo can be tough. She's the silent killer." Elias chuckled as Jason punched his arm.
Hyperbolic Time Chamber…
One week has passed inside the Time Chamber as Trunks and Goten have been training nonstop for the entire time. Both had gone further into the chamber though not too far from the entrance, as they didn't want to lose it.
They had made some good progress, but they decided it was time for a break as they had thoroughly exhausted themselves. Laying on the beds in the entrance, they began to plan their next part of training.
"You know I've been thinking." Trunks began getting Goten's attention.
"Yeah, what is it?" Goten asked.
"When we fight Buu, we'll be basically saving the universe, won't we?" Trunks inquired.
"Yep!" Goten answered.
"Which means when we do fight him, we're going to need really cool moves to use against Buu so that we can do it and look awesome!" Trunks smirked.
"Do you think we should?" Goten asked.
"Heck yeah! Everyone will be thanking us and praising us like heroes!" Trunks exclaimed as he imagined what everyone would say.
"That was amazing, you two!" Bulma cheered.
"No more homework for either of you!" Chi-Chi smiled.
"You two saved us all. Please teach me you're ways." Piccolo requested.
"You guys have far surpassed me. The title of universe's strongest warrior is yours." Jason stated.
"Also, here's free candy and toys," Jason added as he showered the two in the treats.
"Wow, will that really happen?!" Goten questioned, looking excited.
"Totally, it just has to happen!" Trunks smirked.
"Let's think of some cool moves right away!" Goten exclaimed as the two plotted.
Goten came up with a move called the Die Die Missle Barrage, where they would fire a volley of concentrated Ki balls at Buu. Meanwhile, Trunks came up with a move called the Galactic Donut, where they would create a ring made of Ki to surround Buu before trapping him.
Then together, both came up with a creative move for fun with no real plan to make it called the Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, where they would make ghosts to suicide bomb Buu. They got so excited they jumped up and ran out to attempt to create the moves.
However, they forgot they were still exhausted and collapsed instantly, forcing them to crawl back to their beds. Once back, they decided to rest up and develop those moves once they were fully recharged and ready.
Kami's Lookout…
Videl looked at her phone while she sat at the edge of the Lookout. She was hyping herself up to call her father to tell him she was okay. While that wouldn't normally be hard for her with the circumstances and her new knowledge of his lies, she didn't know how to start the conversation.
But most of all, knowing her father, he would question where she was and if she was with…Gohan. The thought of the Half-Saiyan brought tears to the girl's eyes as she had developed feelings for the boy during their short time together, and now it may never grow into anything.
Eventually, she finally brought up the courage and entered her father's number into her phone before hitting call. She didn't have to wait long as no sooner did she call her father did he pick up in a panic.
"VIDEL! WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU OKAY?!" Mr. Satan questioned.
"I'm fine, Dad," Videl responded before taking a breath.
"Don't worry about where I am. I'm safe." Videl assured.
"Well, good, but you need to come home where it's safe. This way, I can make sure if another disaster happens, I can get you somewhere safer!" Mr. Satan insisted.
"Trust me, wherever you'd take me isn't as safe as where I am now," Videl replied.
"Not without the World Martial Arts Champion, it isn't!" Mr. Satan argued as Videl sighed in annoyance.
"Dad…you…" Videl stuttered, but she was unable to say what she wanted to.
She knew now that her father was not the strongest person in the world, nor did he beat Cell. There was no way he'd be able to do much save hide, so the best place for him was home, and Videl wished to remain on the Lookout.
"Stay safe, Dad. I'll see you soon." Videl said as she hung up on a confused Mr. Satan.
The girl didn't know what else to say to him, so she had to end the conversation quickly. There would be time to talk to him if, no, when this was all over, and Buu was killed. They said that once that happened in six months, they could use the Dragon Balls to revive the dead.
Meaning Gohan would come back, and everything would hopefully return to normal. Then again, she didn't know if anything would be normal again as her eyes were opened to a whole new world. She had learned that aliens and monsters were far more real than she thought.
Hell, there were several aliens on the Lookout currently, one of which actually lived on another planet filled with humans. Things were definitely never going to be the same as they were before, and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
"I just wish I could help." Videl sighed.
"If I was there, maybe I could have helped find Gohan before he…died." Videl thought.
"I wonder what it's like in the afterlife, though. I hope Gohan is fine." Videl wondered, looking up at the sky.
Supreme Kai's Planet…
Gohan slashed at Goku with the Z Sword as his father managed to dodge. The Half Saiyan was finally able to use the mighty sword while in his base form, meaning his strength had significantly increased in the short time he had obtained the sword.
Now he was training with his father once more for what may be the last time to prepare himself for his return to Earth and rematch with Buu. At the moment, he gauged himself to be as strong as his father in Super Saiyan 3 while he was in Super Saiyan 2.
But it wasn't enough. He needed more power, and at the moment, this was all he could think of. So, for now, he was training the only thing he could do. Hopefully, with the Z Sword's strength and status as the ultimate blade, it would be enough to kill Buu.
"Not bad, Gohan, but I'm going to take it up a little further," Goku stated as he transformed into a Super Saiyan.
Now transformed, Goku went on the offensive, forcing Gohan to block with the Z Sword and training him to react fast with the heavy blade. Goku turned Super Saiyan to push Gohan further as the Half Saiyan remained in his base form to maximize his training.
Gohan was getting there, though, as he was getting better and better at using the Z Sword. Though one thing still perplexed the Half Saiyan. The Supreme Kai had said that whoever wielded the Z Sword would gain immense power.
While he did gain a great amount of strength, they had implied that he'd gain some other kind of immense power. Perhaps there was something he had yet to uncover about the Z Sword that would grant him such power.
For now, he would continue to train with his father until the time came to return to Earth. That was only in a few days, meaning he had no time to spare. As he dodged another one of his father's attacks, Gohan countered by swinging the blade at his father.
Goku dodged the attack as the Z Sword hit the ground, digging into the dirt. But Gohan didn't stop the swing as he cut the ground and swung back up at Goku, who ducked back to avoid the attack.
Swinging back down, Gohan got Goku in a corner as the Saiyan was forced to fire a beam at the blade. The Z Sword cut through the beam forcing Goku to use Instant Transmission to escape the blade's edge.
"You almost got me there," Goku smirked as he powered down.
"But I think that's enough for the moment," Goku suggested as Gohan placed the Z Sword against a tree.
"Yeah, a break would be nice." Gohan agreed.
"You're getting better with that sword, Gohan. Maybe it'll let you take out Buu with one attack." Goku chuckled.
"That is unlikely as Buu is highly regenerative. But I do believe that the Z Sword will be able to easily damage him more than any other kind of attack." Shin stated.
"As long as you team up with the others, you should be able to take out Buu," Shin added.
"That's good to hear." Gohan smiled.
"Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We can't underestimate Buu." Kibito reminded.
"That's true. After taking some of his hits, I thought I was going to die again." Goku commented.
"I wouldn't be coming back from that." Goku laughed.
"Which is why Buu must be destroyed, and hopefully, the Z Sword will be the edge needed in the battl….where did it go?" Shin questioned as everyone turned to see the Z Sword gone.
"Wha?! I put it right here!" Gohan gasped as everyone ran towards where the Z Sword just was.
"We only took our eyes off it for a minute what could have…." Gohan began until everyone heard a dragging noise.
Moving around the tree, the four were met with the sight of the Z Sword moving by itself. It dragged itself across the grass, slowly unable to move fast and having no direction for motion. As it moved, soft waves of energy through the ground.
"Is uh…that normal?" Gohan inquired.
"No, there is nothing saying that the Z Sword can move," Shin responded.
Its movement became more erratic as it swung around the grass, releasing more and more energy until it suddenly stopped. The sword fell to the ground with a soft thud as if all the weight that it had was gone.
"What just happened." Goku wondered as he poked the sword before picking it up.
"Wow, it's super light now!" Goku gasped.
"But how?" Kibito questioned as a cough was heard from behind them.
"Well, well, this place hasn't changed one bit. Though it does feel a lot more spacious than I remember." An Old Voice sighed.
"But then again, after being sealed in such a cramped place would do that to you." The Old Voice chuckled as everyone turned around.
Behind them was an old Kai who was hunched over, looking around while he stretched his limbs. The Kai eventually turned around as he finally took notice of the four that had been staring at him.
"Oh, are you the ones who freed me?" The Kai inquired.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" Shin questioned as he stepped forth.
"Who am I? I am the Supreme Kai boy." The Kai responded, shocking everyone.
"There's another Supreme Kai!?" Goku gasped.
"Well, technically, I am the Supreme Kai of the era seventy-five million years ago until I managed to anger Beerus, who sealed me in that sword over there." The Kai explained.
"Seventy-five million years ago?! How is this Great Ancestor still alive?" Shin asked.
"Well, like I said, I was sealed within that sword, and boy was it a tight squeeze. To hold my magic power, it became very heavy." Elder Kai answered.
"But now that it was removed from the pillar, I was able to get out of that sword." Elder Kai smirked as he bent his back to stretch his old bones.
"This whole time, there was an old Kai sealed within the sword?!" Kibito gawked.
"That's right, it makes me wonder why it took so long for you guys to get me out! Have the strength standard of the Supreme Kai diminished over the years?" Elder Kai questioned.
"Well, uh…" Shin stuttered as he looked away, embarrassed.
"I guess that is why you brought these mortals to our sacred planet." Elder Kai noted as he looked at Gohan and Goku.
"Actually, they're here to train to fight against a monster named Majin Buu," Shin revealed.
"Majin Buu? Never heard of him." Elder Kai replied.
"If he's such a problem, let Beerus take care of him." Elder Kai insisted.
"Unfortunately, he's asleep and won't be of any help," Shin explained.
"Who's Beerus?" Goku inquired.
"He's…not important right now," Shin responded, not wanting to reveal the existence of the God of Destruction to the two mortals.
"Well, if that's the case, then these mortals you've gathered must be very strong." Elder Kai commented as he rubbed his chin.
"They are, but unfortunately, Buu is far stronger. We hope to take him out in numbers." Kibito revealed.
"So these two are not the only ones?" Elder Kai inquired.
"Actually, I'm dead. I'm just here to help Gohan train." Goku pointed out.
"The others are on a planet called Earth where they managed to split Buu in three and seal him off. But the seal is going to break the day after tomorrow." Shin explained.
"Well, that is quite the predicament." Elder Kai commented.
"I believe I can be of service." Elder Kai smirked.
"You can?" Shin questioned.
"Yes. As I said before, I have magical powers that other Supreme Kai do not have. With it, I can bring out the potential power within anyone, increasing their power incredibly." Elder Kai began.
"Additionally, it increases their potential in future training to get even stronger, meaning I can make that young boy over there much stronger." Elder Kai finished as he pointed at Gohan.
"Really?!" Gohan gasped.
"Yep! As thanks for setting me free." Elder Kai smiled.
"Honorable Ancestor, that would be fantastic!" Shin exclaimed.
"If we do that, Gohan would be able to fight Buu even better and use the Z Sword to its full capabilities!" Shin added.
"Use the Z Sword? That worthless toy?" Elder Kai questioned, shocking the other Kai.
"Worthless toy?" Kibito repeated.
"Yes, that was just an old ceremonial sword us Supreme Kai had for granting the title to the next Kai under. Other than that, it's basically a normal sword unable to cut through even the hardest material in the universe." Elder Kai explained.
"A ceremonial sword?" Shin murmured as he lifted the fallen Z Sword.
"Wait, if the sword is strong enough to seal a Supreme Kai, couldn't it seal Buu too?" Goku inquired.
"Probably, but it would only delay the inevitable. As you recall, when Buu broke free from his seal, he had come back significantly stronger." Shin began.
"With him being unable to fight or move while being sealed, it seemed he focused on his growing strength. Before, it was a small gain, but with nothing else to do, it grew exponentially." Shin continued.
"If we seal him again, he'll just come out even stronger than before." Shin finished.
"Oh, I see. So best to deal with him now than later." Goku realized.
"Precisely." Kibito nodded.
"So when should we start with bringing out my potential?" Gohan asked.
"We can start in a few hours. After being sealed within the Z Sword for so long, I need to regain my strength." Elder Kai answered.
"Now, where do you keep the food around here? Has the spot changed?" Elder Kai inquired.
"Uh…right this way, sir," Kibito replied as he led the Elder Kai.
"Let's hope we don't cut this close," Gohan murmured.
Kami's Lookout…
Jason sat crossed legged in a secluded spot from the others, where he meditated and focused his energy. He did this in preparation for the fight with Buu, as he needed all the energy he could get. Long ago, after his fight with Sekai, he began developing a new energy-storing technique.
With this, he would be able to bring out the full power of Super Saiyan 4 as long as he stored enough power beforehand to release it. He made this so that he wouldn't be dependent on others to give him energy to bring out his full power, so he began to store some now.
Unfortunately, it was a long process that took a lot of concentration as the technique required him to create a second 'container for his Ki. Normally Ki would fill the entire body, but Jason managed to find a way to create a second container at the center of his body.
It basically amounted to forming a condensed ball of Ki that acted as the container, and slowly he would pack his energy within the ball. This spent massive amounts of energy not only to create the ball but to fill it and maintain it.
That was why it took so long to create and fill, as it would take him well over a day to make the ball and slowly fill it so that he could safely use his energy. If he rushed things, he would run the risk of using up all his energy and killing himself.
So he took it slow and made sure his energy never got too low, and if it did, he would switch from filling the ball to maintaining it while he recovered. Currently, he was halfway done, and he expected to finish by the end of the next day, just in time for his fight with Buu.
"Thank goodness releasing the energy will be far easier." Jason thought as he continued storing energy.
"If only I had some stored when Buu woke." Jason sighed inwardly.
While he would have stored energy to fight Buu, he knew that energy was what Babidi was after, and if he somehow accessed his stored energy, it would have been bad news. But now that Buu was already awake, Jason had no reason not to store energy now.
He just hoped that the full power of Super Saiyan 4 would be enough to take down Buu, but nothing was guaranteed. Which is why Jason was going to store as much energy as he could before the fight.
Hopefully, the training Goten and Trunks were going through would make their fusion Gotenks far stronger than before enough to fight Buu. Jason had faith it would work though he had to wonder what fusion was like.
He probably wouldn't know as there was no one around he could fuse with as the closest one was Elias, but his strength was comparable to the peak power of Super Saiyan 2. If he'd bring his power down, then it may work, but who knew what the strength of the fusion would be like.
Goku said the two participants had to be near equal in power, so with the gap between him and his Tuffle friend it may negatively affect the fusion's power. But then again, it may do nothing, and any fusion between the two could be incredibly powerful.
Either way, it was best for them to avoid another fusion as it would decrease the number of fighters they had. They needed strong fighters and numbers to fight the three Buu's. So it was best that they stayed as they were since only he should fight alone.
With Gotenks's cocky attitude, he might not finish off Buu entirely or fast enough, and if 18 or Piccolo were to fight alone, it wouldn't be enough to keep up with Buu. Getting the unnecessary thoughts out of his head, Jason returned to his meditation, slowly filling the ball with Ki.
Nearby…
Elias ducked down, avoiding a kick from 18 before grabbing onto her leg and tossing her behind him. Spinning around, the Tuffle met the 18's follow-up attack before firing a quick blast of Ki. 18 knocked the attack away before pushing forward and landing a blow on Elias's chest.
The Tuffle was sent flying back towards the edge of the Lookout before he stopped just at the edge. Once he stopped, he shot back towards 18 as the two cybernetic beings clashed several more times.
18 swung at Elias's head, but the Tuffle spun out of the way winding into a kick which 18 blocked. She then fired a beam in Elias's chest, sending him to the sky before he stopped himself and fired a barrage of Ki at 18.
His attack was matched by 18 effortlessly, creating several small explosions above the Lookout. They, of course, had to hold back a majority of their power so they wouldn't damage the Lookout with their spar.
The two were sparing in preparation for their fight with their Majin Buu. Since neither had fought with one another before nor seen one another fight, they thought this was best, so they could see their fighting styles.
"Not bad 18," Elias commented as he landed.
"Not bad yourself. Though it seems you train far more than I do." 18 replied.
"Well, I do try to get training in every week," Elias said.
"Then I'll have to keep up." 18 smirked as she flew towards Elias. While they spared, Piccolo was nearby meditating.
It was his own way of training with his Ki control, but once Goten and Trunks came out of the chamber, he would put their fusion to the test. But for now, he needed to make sure he was in peak condition to fight against Buu.
That being said, Piccolo wasn't a fool. He knew that he was the weakest fighter in the group at the moment, so he would need to pull his weight in more ways than just raw strength. Which meant strategizing during the fight and keeping Gotenks in place.
Piccolo just hoped it was enough to win. He didn't want to rely on the Dragon Balls in six months to revive so many people. To think that things got like this with three of their strongest fighters dead and gone.
In the end, it just means the rest of them must pick up the slack and save the universe. At least their heaviest hitter, Jason, was still around and able to continue fighting. Hopefully, he really was strong enough to take one of the Buus alone.
Looking over at the three pots that held the Majins, Piccolo took note of their rate of decay. At the rate they were breaking, Piccolo estimated that they would break free by the end of the day tomorrow.
It was a little earlier than he was expecting, but then again, there was no accurate way to figure out when they would break free. Piccolo was only estimating the time by the decay of the pots though he was confident he was right.
He could only hope that Vegeta and Roshi's sacrifice to give them more time wasn't in vain. As Piccolo continued to meditate, Krillin and Yamcha returned from their search for Tien empty-handed.
"Can I assume you didn't find him?" Piccolo inquired.
"Yeah. Tien must be in some really hidden retreat." Yamcha responded.
"He's lowered his energy too, so we can't pick him out from the rest of the people from Earth," Krillin added.
"Very well. It would have been good to have him around just in case we need him and you two as backup." Piccolo sighed.
"Be honest, Piccolo, how much chance do we have?" Krillin asked.
"I want to say there won't be a problem, but it can go either way. What will really give us an edge is Jason and Gotenks." Piccolo answered.
"Gotenks?" Krillin and Yamcha questioned.
"It's what we call Goten and Trunk's fusion form. They're currently in the Time Chamber training for the fight." Piccolo explained.
"Wow. What was their strength like?" Yamcha asked.
"It was incredible for their first time. With training, they'll definitely have the strength to fight against Buu." Piccolo answered.
"Unfortunately, their attitude is far too cocky, meaning I'll have to supervise." Piccolo sighed.
"Sounds like you have your hands full," Krillin commented as he turned to watch his wife spar Elias.
"You don't know the half of it," Piccolo murmured as he returned to his meditation.
Hyperbolic Time Chamber…
Three months have passed within the Time Chamber, and Goten and Trunks were making great strides in their training. Currently, the two were fused as Gotenks and practicing with their new move, the Galactic Donut.
Creating a ring of Ki Gotenks threw it away only for it to dissipate soon after. They had kept running into this problem several times as the energy they used wasn't enough to hold the shape. Other times they would put too much power causing it to explode prematurely.
"DAMMIT!" Gotenks cursed as he stopped his foot.
"What am I doing wrong?!" Gotenks questioned.
"It's never enough!" Gotenks complained as his energy flared.
"Argh! One more time!" Gotenks stated as he created another ring of Ki and threw it.
This time he had put too much Ki within it, and it exploded in his face sending Gotenks backward onto the ground. Furious Gotenks let out an ear-piercing roar as his body exploded in golden energy, and he turned into a Super Saiyan.
"Woah." Gotenks gasped as he looked at himself.
"So this is a Super Saiyan? Not bad!" Gotenks smirked as he flew around laughing.
"I have so much power! There's no way Buu can take me on now!" Gotenks cackled as he fired several bursts of energy.
"I bet I can even take on Jason in Super Saiyan 4!" Gotenks exclaimed as his body glowed, and he separated into Goten and Trunks, who were now also Super Saiyans.
"I guess we forgot what time it was." Goten chuckled.
"Yeah, but look, we're still Super Saiyans!" Trunks pointed out as they looked at their golden hair.
"Does that mean we can do whatever Gotenks can?" Goten wondered.
"Maybe. Or perhaps it'll only happen for Super Saiyan only and nothing else." Trunks replied.
"Who knows, though? Maybe we'll be able to do that Super Saiyan 3 transformation your dad showed us." Trunks smirked.
"Yeah, but we still can't get the Galactic Donut down!" Goten complained.
"Maybe we should move on to another move," Goten suggested.
"That's probably a good idea." Trunks agreed as they flew to the ground.
"So which one should we do next?" Goten asked.
"Let's try making some ghosts!" Trunks exclaimed.
"Yeah!" Goten smirked as the two took position.
"Fu…"
"Sion…"
"HA!" The Two chanted as they finished the dance and fused once more into Gotenks.
"Let's do this!" Gotenks smiled as he flew up and condensed Ki within himself.
Soon he spit out a giant ball of white Ki that floated around as Gotenks attempted to change it. He wanted to make it take the form of a ghost, but he was unsuccessful. Eventually, he kicked it away, where it exploded so he could start again.
Practice made perfect after all, and after several more tries, Gotenks was still getting nowhere. If anything, he just had a way to make a minefield. That was when Gotenks had an idea. An idea to make the shape of a ghost as he creates the Ki.
Starting again, he built up Ki within himself before slowly releasing it. As he did, he changed the shape of the Ki as he spat it out, and eventually, a ghost version of himself came out. Though it didn't move and just floated there inanimate, it was a step in the right direction.
"Yeah, I did it!" Gotenks exclaimed.
"I did it! I did it! I did it!" Gotenks cheered as he celebrated his advance.
"Now, let's figure out how to make it move!" Gotenks smirked as he got back to training.
Supreme Kai Planet…
Gohan sighed as looked at the sleeping Elder Kai. Hours had passed since the Kai broke free from the Z Sword, and the Kai had been lazing around ever since. He could understand a little since, after all, it had been a while since the Kai was free, but they didn't have time for this.
Buu was going to wake tomorrow, and Gohan needed to be ready to fight him and help the others to rid the universe of the monster. Though time was of the essence, Gohan didn't know how to get the Kai to hurry up.
"Uh, sir. Can we get started?" Gohan asked as Elder Kai jolted awake.
"Eh? Wha? Oh, right." Elder Kai murmured as he sat up.
"It's been nice being able to move again. I almost forgot." Elder Kai yawned as he stood before Gohan.
"Let's get started then." Elder Kai said.
"Right, so how does this work?" Gohan inquired.
"The ritual takes a while as the first part takes about five hours and the second another twenty. Though depending on your strength, it may be more." Elder Kai revealed shocking Gohan and the others around them.
"TWENTY-FIVE HOURS?!" Gohan gasped.
"Yep, so how about we get started." Elder Kai chuckled as Gohan sweatdropped.
"So, what should I do?" Gohan asked.
"Just stand still and don't move at all." Elder Kai instructed.
"I have to stay still for five hours?" Gohan sighed.
"That's correct, so let's not waste any more time." Elder Kai replied as he began to circle Gohan.
As he walked around the Half Saiyan, he did an odd dance making most there question if this was really the ritual he spoke of. Needless to say that this ritual of Elder Kai's was going to be brutal in a way Gohan never expected.
He could only hope that whatever Elder Kai was doing it would work and be enough to fight against Buu. Thinking back on when Buu awoke, Gohan didn't even get much of a chance to fight as he was easily dispatched by the monster.
Though he was strong enough to not be taken out in one hit, it wasn't enough as he needed to be on equal footing with Buu. If not equal footing, then at the very least as strong as Jason is, then it would be enough for him.
"Please let this work." Gohan sighed inwardly.
The Next Day…
Kami's Lookout…
While Jason continued to gather energy, Piccolo and the others waited for Goten and Trunks to exit the Time Chamber. When the two came out, they were slightly taller, but both Half Saiyan's hair had grown very long.
"Hey, everyone!" Goten waved.
"Your saviors are here!" Trunks smirked as Bulma and Chi-Chi sighed.
"How did your training go?" Piccolo questioned.
"It went great!" Goten answered.
"Yeah, we've gotten really strong!" Trunks agreed.
"Good to hear because we're going to put you to the test," Piccolo stated.
"Not so fast!" Chi-Chi shouted.
"Yeah, no one's fighting until we clean these two up!" Bulma yelled.
"We're fine, though," Goten replied.
"No is not an answer!" Chi-Chi stated as both Goten and Trunks cowered a little in fear.
"Your mom's scary." Trunks whispered as the two were carted off by their mothers.
When they returned, Trunks and Goten's hair were back to normal, and both had been given a clean set of clothes. Now back on track, Piccolo took the two to the outside of the Lookout so that they could fuse.
"Alright, show us what your training has given you." Piccolo insisted.
"Right!" The Two replied.
"Fu…"
"Sion…"
"HA!" The Two chanted as they did the dance, and with a bright light, the two formed Gotenks.
"Alright, let's do this!" Gotenks smirked.
"Good, your power already feels exceptionally stronger. Now show me what you've got!" Piccolo shouted.
"You asked for it!" Gotenks chuckled as he charged up.
His energy exploded with the winds threatening to push everyone save Jason off the Lookout as they had not been prepared for the energy. Gotenks took that opportunity to charge at Piccolo, who had to grab onto Gotenks's arm with both hands to stop the attack.
Gotenks then took the Namekian by surprise when he flipped backward and kicked him in the chin. The Fused Warrior then fired a quick Kamehameha pushing Piccolo away. Piccolo put a stop to that immediately as he extended his arms and pulled Gotenks's arms apart.
Pulling Gotenks close, Piccolo fired a beam from his mouth, throwing Gotenks back into the Lookout. As he landed, Gotenks got to his feet looking no worse for wear than when they began the match.
"So, how am I doing?" Gotenks asked.
"You're doing incredible so far. But it won't be good enough against Buu, so the question remains." Piccolo responded.
"Have you made it to Super Saiyan?" Piccolo inquired.
"Have I made it to Super Saiyan? Just watch." Gotenks replied.
The Fused Warrior let out a deafening roar as he was covered in bright golden light and surging energy. When the dust settled, Gotenks was in Super Saiyan, and his power was far superior to that of even Gohan in Super Saiyan 2.
"Impressed now?" Gotenks questioned.
"Or do you want me to go further?" Gotenks asked, shocking Piccolo.
"Are you saying you can go Super Saiyan 2?!" Piccolo gasped.
"Yep, I figured it out." Gotenks boasted as he ascended to the second Super Saiyan form.
His power surged once more, and it seemed to be just under Goku's power in Super Saiyan 3. No doubt Gotenks would be a great asset in the upcoming battle. With a few hours to go until Buu broke free, it came at a good time.
"Good, that's enough. You're as ready as you'll ever be for your fight with Buu." Piccolo stated.
"Once you defuse, take the next few hours to rest. Our fight will begin soon." Piccolo instructed as Gotenks nodded.
Piccolo then walked up to Jason, who had not moved in hours, something the Namekian never thought a Saiyan could do. He didn't even see the Saiyan eat, which is even more surprising as he never thought a Saiyan could go hours without eating.
"How are you fairing?" Piccolo inquired.
"I'm almost done. I think I'll be done in two hours, and I'll be battle-ready when it's time to fight." Jason answered.
"Good, we'll need it." Piccolo nodded.
"The kids seem to have gotten very good training in the chamber," Jason commented.
"More so than even I expected. Fusion is very terrifying." Piccolo agreed.
"Yeah. I can only wonder what would happen if fully grown fighters were to fuse." Jason replied.
"The fusion would definitely be as terrifying as Buu himself." Piccolo sighed.
"When will the Buus break free?" Jason asked.
"By the end of the day. Sooner than expected, but it still gives us enough time to prepare." Piccolo responded.
"Good to hear," Jason replied as Piccolo took his leave.
While Piccolo went to get everyone else up to date on the timeline, Jason thought about the battle up ahead. He had to win, and he would because he wasn't going to let this monster destroy the universe.
But most of all, he didn't want to see his daughter so scared ever again. He didn't show it, but he was devastated that Scarlet felt Buu's awakening. Jason had never seen his daughter scared like that before, and he didn't want to ever again.
So he was going to kill Buu so that Scarlet wouldn't be afraid anymore. Things were looking fairly well, so Jason was confident that they would be able to defeat Buu. Getting back to the task at hand, he returned to building up Ki. Soon the battle with Buu would begin.
The pieces are falling into place as the battle against Buu is about to begin! Our heroes are training and preparing their hardest for the battle ahead, some reaching new heights! Will it be enough to defeat Buu? Find out Next Time!
Author's Note:
And with that, we are ever closer to the fight with Buu starting next chapter! Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, especially with how I brought out Elder Kai. I felt it fitting to change it a bit to fit with the fact it was Beerus who sealed him there.
Plus, also it gives another reason as to why the Z Sword isn't used again besides it breaking, and I thought it would be funny to make it something other than a legendary weapon for shits and giggles.
While I didn't show much of Goten and Trunk's training in the Time Chamber, I did touch on some important things like them developing their techniques and obtaining Super Saiyan.
Since they had a year to train, I thought it made more sense for them to obtain so much power compared to how long they trained in cannon. I'll also be touching on why the fusion can gain more power than Goten and Trunks, later on, especially other Super Saiyan forms.
As for Jason's energy technique, I hope you liked it. I wanted to have him develop something like this so as to not have Jason depend on others. If there was one thing that bugged me most of all about SSJ4, it's that it continuously depended on others to gain its full power to be useful.
It's just another one of many reasons I didn't really like GT, but I digress. Though to make sure he can't use it all the time, I made it so that it took a while to complete. Also, just a reminder, as I stated in the chapter, the reason Jason didn't use it earlier was that he didn't want the possibility of the energy being stolen and given to Buu.
That's all I have to say for today, so on to the reviews:
Luffy L Deathwalker – Well, it didn't break, but the Z Sword isn't the legendary weapon it was meant to be. I mean, if it couldn't slice the hardest material in cannon, it couldn't be that legendary to begin with, right?
But then again, that's just how I wanted to go through with it hope you enjoyed.
Monster King – Happy to hear you liked it.
That's all for today. See you guys next time!
