Marcus and Lisa were the only ones home when their father had called. He'd left a message saying a friend would be coming by to drop something off for him, and that they shouldn't worry if they get a knock at the door. So low and behold, when a knock at the door came, Marcus was the first person up to go see who was there. He didn't, however, expect to see a very, very, attractive blonde woman looking down at him.
"Uhh, uh, hi! Are you, are you dad's friend?" Marcus kicked himself for sounding so dumb. The lady smiled down at him, lovely blue eyes peering into his very soul as she gazed at him.
"I'm gonna guess, you're Marcus. Percy mentioned you." She smiled brightly and Marcus felt his gut do this weird twisty thing.
"Am I able to step in?" She peeked around his shoulder at Lisa who was also staring at the woman. Stepping aside Marcus let her walk past him and he caught a slight hint of her perfume, which smelled of perfection itself.
Oh, gods. What is wrong with me?! Sucking in a nervous breath Marcus closed the door and went to join Lisa and the newcomer.
BREAK
"So what're your parents up to these days? I haven't seen them in a while, and they don't particularly chat with me about menial things." The woman, who had introduced herself as Silena, asked as she sat opposite the two siblings. The trio were all currently situated in the living room, Marcus and Lisa on one couch, Silena on the other. She seemed to be looking around at the various paintings and decorations of the large, open space. Neither Lisa nor Marcus knew much about their parents' jobs, so deciding to avoid the question Lisa asked one of her own.
"Would you like a drink or anything?" She prompted, a shy smile graced her face as she fidgeted under the woman's intense gaze. "I'm- I'm not allowed to get the alcohol down though, sorry." She apologized shyly, rubbing her hands against the fabric of her jeans.
"Oh that's alright dear, tea would be just fine, thank you!" Silena smiled at the young girl as she stood and made her way to the kitchen. "So! Marcus, how're your parents? How's school? What's all the new gossip?" She leaned forward and rested her arms on her legs, head in her hands.
Marcus took a gulp of air. "It's um, well it's school, y'know?" Marcus shrugged helplessly under her intense gaze. "I'm… doing a bit better in math." He wanted to curl into himself and cry. That was a horrible response. Marcus decided to break away from her eyes and look somewhere else.
Anywhere else. Deciding on trying to avoid an awkward situation, he looked back at her.
"I'll um, I'll go see what Lisa's up to, feel free to look around." Marcus stood hastily before making an exit towards his sister. Stepping into the pristine kitchen, he sidled up next to her and helped grab some of the items higher up on the shelves.
"So, what do you think?" Lisa asked quietly as they made up some drinks for Silena.
"She looks kinda like dad right?" Lisa stated as Marcus' bewilderment showed on his face.
"What do you mean 'she looks like dad'?! She looks nothing like dad!" Marcus shook his head at Lisa, who scowled at him.
"What do you mean 'she looks nothing like dad'!" Lisa raised her voice, before clamping down on it and going back to a whisper. "What does she look like to you?" She prompted, and Marcus answered quickly. But without thought.
"Blue hair, blonde eyes." Lisa blinked at him. "Ugh! I mean, blonde hair and blue eyes!" He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"What the hell?" Lisa cursed.
"Hey! Language." Marcus scolded her.
"Right. Sorry." Lisa apologized. "It's just, I'm seeing blue eyes and black hair. That's why I thought she looked like dad."
"Are you pulling my leg right now?" Marcus asked, crossing his arms and looking down at the shorter sibling.
"I'm not pulling your leg right now!" Lisa insisted.
"You're totally pulling my leg." Marcus brought a hand to his face and rubbed at his brow.
"What do you mean?! She looks like dad!" Lisa shouted, pointing in the direction of the lounge.
"No she doesn't, she looks like uncle Jason!" Marcus replied hotly.
"She looks like dad and that's final!" Lisa scowled at him as she too crossed her arms.
"Hey! I'm the eldest, I decide when it's final. And she's not like dad, she's like uncle Jason." Marcus and Lisa glared at each other. In one last bout of pettiness he declared.
"And that's final."
"Argh! Shut up!"
"Aren't you two adorable?" A new voice called.
"AHHH!" Standing in the entrance to the kitchen was Silena, smiling brightly at the two squabbling siblings.
"Shall we step back into the lounge?" Marcus and Lisa looked at each other before gazing at her.
"Are you actually dad's friend?" Lisa asked as the two siblings stopped glaring at each other. 'Silena', if that was even her real name, gave them a small smile.
"Yes, I am a friend of your fathers. I swear I mean you no harm." She made a little play of crossing her heart. Glancing at the clock behind them 'Silena' took in the time before looking back at the two legacies.
"Well, it's time for me to head off now hun." She turned gracefully and began walking towards the front door. The duo followed after her. Lisa pulled Marcus down to whisper in his ear.
"You think she's a god? No way she's just a demigod or something." Lisa pried as the two arrived at the door, 'Silena' already standing outside.
"No way," Marcus shook his head. "Maybe she's like… a peaceful monster?" If there even was a thing. They watched as Silena turned towards them and regarded Marcus.
"Can I have my bag back please sweetheart?" She asked kindly, Marcus blinked in confusion before glancing down at his hands. His face burst with embarrassment as he walked down towards her.
"S-sorry about that." He looked down at the ground as he handed her the bag, an expensive one if he had to guess. She beamed at him happily before speaking to the two of them.
"Now I'm going to need you both to close your eyes." The two stared at her unmoving. "Quickly, quickly, unless you want to continue staring at me." Marcus squeezed his eyes shut quickly, Lisa following suit before he felt soft lips pressed against his cheek followed by the sound of flapping wings and a soothing scent of vanilla flowing around him. Marcus froze up, before staring at the sky dazedly.
The two stood in silence, their gazes going to the sky before they watched as a familiar car pulled up.
"Aunt Piper!" Lisa raced down from the steps and past the starstruck boy as Piper McLean pulled into the Jackson family's driveway.
"Hey there kiddos, how are you two doing?" Piper called, pulling Lisa into a tight hug. Marcus still stood dazed and gazing into the sky. "Marcus? Buddy?" Piper called to him, and he snapped out of his reverie and walked over to greet his pseudo-aunt.
"Hiya auntie." He stepped into her arms and gave her a hug before Piper pushed him back and squinted at him.
"What?" Marcus asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"Why do you smell like my mum?" She asked before she grabbed his chin and turned his face. "And why do you have lipstick on your-" Piper stopped abruptly before smiling slowly.
"I told you she was a god!" Lisa screamed in excitement.
"Shut up!" Marcus responded in embarrassment rubbing quickly at the red on his cheek.
"Why was Aphrodite here?" Piper asked the two.
"To hit on Mark, obviously." Lisa teased the poor, blushing boy.
"Argh! Leave me alone!" He tore himself from Piper's grasp as he walked back to the house, rubbing vigorously at the red lipstick marks that wouldn't seem to go away.
"Awww, it's okay Marcus, everyone has their first crushes," Piper smirked at the expected outburst.
"Gaaah! Not you too."
