Anissa's POV
I gave my best menacing glare as Chibs ripped off the covers, making sure to hiss my discontent. "OOOoo, can you STOP?!" I yelled trying to get the cover back, but he tossed it on the chair. He pushed his glasses up on the top of his head as a small grimace appeared on his face.
"Lass, you've been holding up in your house for the last week. I sent fucking Half Sac out here like ten times to check on you and you haven't been answering your door. The only reason I knew you were alive was from Donna. Come on, I'm taking you for lunch." Chibs argued, stepping out of the way of my kicking legs.
"No, I don't want to be bothered. Close the blinds on the way out." I mumbled, grabbing my pillow to fluff.
Apparently Chibs wasn't listening as he quickly caged me on top of the bed, straddling me. "Okay, you have two choices: Either you can get up and get ready or I can tickle you until you give into my demands. Either way, I'm going to get my way." Chibs looked down with a no nonsense look.
I fought the smile off my face as I tried to push him to the side, but his big ass wasn't budging. I sighed loudly as I removed my bonnet to toss on the night table. "Fine. And the food better be smackin' otherwise there will be hell to pay."
Chibs smiled, quickly kissing my lips before getting up. "While you get ready, I'll straighten up."
I laid across my bed for another five minutes before getting up to head to the bathroom. I was already showered from the morning. Deciding to not even go with glitz and glam, natural was the route I was going. I wet my curls and added my favorite leave in conditioner, adding some volume to my hair.
I went back out to my dresser to grab a underwear set. I shuffled through my draw, frowning as sorted through draw. "Chibs?!" I called out, baffled that some of my underwear was missing. I knew that because it was my expensive pieces that I seldomly wear.
"Yeah, what's wrong?" Chibs asked, popping his head around the door.
"Did I leave any laundry at your house? A couple of Fenty sets are missing. I was going to wear my yellow set." I asked, looking over to him.
Chibs shook his head as he leaned against the door. "I mean you still got clothes in my draw, but most of your underwear you have there you've bought out in Charming. I don't remember seeing a yellow set." Chibs explained.
I sighed annoyingly as I know I haven't wore them in a good little minute and I'm very anal about organization, so for me to be misplacing things is not normal for me. "Okay, I look around for it later." I grabbed my black set with my black mesh romper and went back to the bathroom.
On the hotline, the sun ain't up but I had to call you
'Cause I'm home alone lustin' for ya
I'm in my room, nothin' but a towel on
Take them granny panties off put a thong on
I was surprised that Chibs chose his pickup truck to use today, but it was a nice surprise as I was able to listen to music, windows all the way down let in that California breeze as Chibs sped down the highway to Long Beach. It's been a week since Toni's situation, which really had me fucked up for a good little minute. Chibs and I probably sat in the garage for an hour, just in silence.
I can admit it was cowardly of me to just leave without notice, avoiding his calls, but it was a loss I needed to digest on my own. I shook my head, trying not to go down the road again. As if Chibs can read my thoughts, he turned the radio down, before his knuckles brushed my knee. "Okay, I can hear your thoughts rattling all the way over here. Wanna talk about it?" He asked, briefly looking over at me.
I sighed, scratching behind my ear. "Just thinking about Toni, that's all." I mumbled. I was expecting some type of grimace, disgust, or maybe smart remark to come from Chibs at the mention of Tony, which who wouldn't be, but surprisingly Chibs kept neutral, a small nod to acknowledge my words. I didn't know why that meant so much to me, that respect for me and that bond that would take time to fade and heal.
Chibs looked over to me with an unreadable face expression causing a nervous smile to peek at my lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I said, the feel of my cheeks burning under his fervent gazes.
"I don't think you realize how beautiful of a soul you are. I can say even with the trauma you have experienced in your life… there is still this innocence about you." Chibs said, removing his sunglasses, sitting them down in a cup holder.
I hated how he makes me blush, feeling like some school girl fresh off the yard. "Hmm, I don't think anyone equated me with innocence before." I mumbled, lacing my left hand with his right.
Chibs tsked, tapping his pointer finger on the steering wheel. "That makes me incredibly sad." Chibs said.
Before I could respond, my phone started to ring on the bluetooth radio. I looked over, immediately smiling seeing 'Shiloh' name on the screen. He was facetime me, so I pulled my phone up from the cupholder to answer.
"What's up my little smol bean?!" I said, knowing it annoys the hell out of him. I smiled as I heard him groan in annoyance.
"I told you not to call me that! I'm not 12 anymore." Shiloh argued with a cute little pout on his face.
"You'll forever be my smol bean. Now, what's up?" I asked, letting up my window to turn on the AC to hear better.
"Okay, I have a dilemma and I need a girl's advice." Shiloh admitted reluctantly, playing with his hair.
In the background, I heard unmistakingly Shila say "What the hell am I? Chop liver?" She asked, causing me to roll my eyes at the twin's nagging with each other.
"The devil spawn, that's what you are. Anyway, there is this really nice girl-" Shiloh started to say, but Shila cut him off.
"She's totally out of his league, AJ. Like covergirl gorgeous." Shila mocked.
"Shut up!" I see Shiloh take a pillow and launch it off screen.
"Owe! You messed up my eyeliner!" Shila screeched.
"Hey, stop with all that fighting. Shila, let Shiloh talk. Now, what about the girl?" I asked, seeing Chibs snort at the troublesome two.
"She's really smart and beautiful. Has the cutest smile and she has brown eyes like me. She smells really nice, too." Shiloh rambled on and on with a tinge of a blush on his cheeks. Oh, he got it bad.
"She sounds like a wonderful girl, Shiloh. Why don't you ask her out?" I asked. Simultaneously Chibs and Shiloh rolled their eyes as if I said the craziest thing.
"It's not that simple, AJ. Girls like her don't even look twice at guys like me. That's why I need your help to ask her to Spring Formal." Shiloh pleaded.
"Shiloh, if I go through the motion of telling you this, you better be asking her out and calling me at the end of the week." I said, my eyebrow raised at the sheepish look he sent me.
Shila's head appeared over his shoulder as she shook. "He's pussy, so don't waste your breath." In response, Shiloh pushed her face out of the camera.
"Don't you have souls to collect meaning… any other place other than here? Damn." Shiloh argued.
I looked over to Chibs with an exasperated look as he just smiled. "Guys, can you focus, because I am busy." I tried to get their attention.
Shila smacked her lips, giving me a 'no, you not' look. "Everytime we call, you are at home in bed watching Netflix. Popcorn all in the bed." Shila said, while Shiloh cosigned her sentiments.
I know damn well they are not trying to put me on blast. And the bad part, Chibs agreeing. "First off, mind ya business. Secondly, I'm out with my boyfriend. Thank you very much." I retorted with a sassy look on my face.
Shila and Shiloh looked at each other. "Boyfriend?!" They said simultaneously.
"Woooow, you actually found a man to deal with your crazy tail self!" Shila said, before she started to laugh.
Before I could recover from my shock, Shiloh followed up with "Put him on the phone, so I know he ain't being held hostage. Blink once if you need us to call the police." Shiloh and Shila bursted into contagious giggles.
"Do not encourage them!" I glared playfully at Chibs as he started chuckling. "And you two got jokes? Huh? Shiloh, who did you call to ask advice from?" I asked, causing Shiloh to stop laughing with a wide eyed look on his face.
"Yeah, that's right. And while you clowning Shiloh and me, let's talk about the boy you've been pining for… two years now." I said in retaliation.
"Don't worry about that sweetheart. That's a work in progress." Shila replied with sass.
Shiloh and Shila both look off to their left. "Shiloh, why isn't your room clean? I sent you up here an hour ago. And who are you guys talking to?" A feminine voice said, instantly causing my joy to dry up.
"Oh… ummm… we are talking to our sister." Shiloh said vaguely, glancing up at Shila.
"Ari? Ask her when her and Archie are coming up to the ranch?" Sandy, my biological mom, said in the background.
"It's not Ari, mom. It's Anissa… you know your other daughter." Shila said. I facepalmed as my sister has no chill at all. It was the only thing humorous about this situation.
There was a moment of silence that happened before Sandy replied with an "Oh… okay. Don't forget that we have a business dinner to attend to in about an hour and a half, so don't talk for long." Sandy said. Soon after, I heard the door close.
I took a deep breath as I refused to allow that to ruin my mood. I looked up to see that we were getting off the exit that would lead us to Long Beach.
"Hey guys, I'm getting off the phone, but Shiloh calls me later when you guys are done with dinner and we can finish talking about Spring Formal. Okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. I'm sorry, Anissa. I didn't mean for that to happen." Shiloh said with an 'sorry' face while Shila had an 'annoyed' look on her face.
"Listen, what happens between Sandy and I has nothing to do with our relationship. And with that being said, Shila, leave it alone." I said, giving her the 'look'.
She tried to put on a clueless face, but horribly failed with the twitching smile on the cusp of her lips. "I'm not going to do anything." She said, sweetly. And the one thing Shila Summer Berlusconi is not… sweet.
"I'm for real, if Shiloh even hints that something went down, because he can't lie to save his life, I will not allow y'all to come stay with me up in Dallas for the summer." I said with finality.
She rolled her eyes. "Wow, you really are cold blooded. Fine, I'll let it go for now."
"Good, kisses for both of you. Behave and Shiloh, clean your room. Bye." I said. I waited for goodbyes, before hanging up.
I looked over to Chibs, who looked my way when he felt my eyes look his way. "You want to talk about it." He asked with concern.
"No, I mean there isn't really anything to say about it. I stopped looking for validation from her a long time ago." I said, before turning up 'Good Days' by Sza on the radio.
I tried soo hard not to stare down at Chib's birria taco as he told me to get the 3-platter, but I went with the two. But I didn't expect it to be soo damn good. I think he read my mind as a little smirk appeared on his face as he looked down at birria taco. "Are you full yet?" He asked before taking a sip of his beer.
I 'hmm', tapping my nails against the bench. "Eh, I saved room for dessert. The birrias were really good." I commented, making sure to maintain a nonchalant attitude.
Chibs 'hmm' me back as he cut birria in half. He grabbed my food boat and put half of the taco in it and poured a little sauce on it. "I'm not gonna finish all of it. Here." He said, pushing the boat back towards me.
A wide smile gave away on my face as I happily received the half. "Oooo, I could just kiss you!" I said, before taking a bite of the birria.
"Well save the kissing for that." Chibs pointed off in the distance, causing me to look in the direction. It took me a few seconds to really take it in, before I saw the big ferris wheel off in the distance.
I smiled softly before looking up at him. "You remember…" I said, before trailing off on my thoughts. When I was ten, I placed in the home of Mrs. Dorsey. She was the sweetest, older white lady that I got the pleasure to meet. Every Saturday evening she'll take me to the country fair and we would catch a sunsetting ferris wheel ride. Unfortunately, she passed away two years later from breast cancer.
Chibs sat back down next to me, swinging my legs across his lap, as I tried to gather my senses as I felt familiar burn behind my eyes. "Of course I remember, AJ. I'm not that, old." Chibs ribbed at me, causing me to smile. Chibs and I only ten years apart, but he was already sporting a salt n pepper look that I really liked on him.
"You know I didn't mean it that away. It's been such a depressing week, so thank you for this." I said, my hand caressing the side of his neck with tenderness.
Chibs kissed the inner side of my wrist, but I knew from the current look I wasn't going to like what was coming next. "Not to ruin the moment, but I have to ask if you are going to tell Jax about Toni." Chibs asked, causing a little huff slip out of my mouth.
"Can we have this conversation later? I'm trying to live in my blissfulness." I said with a little pleading.
"I'm going to be busy later, so no." Chibs countered with amusement.
"Doing what?" I asked, trying to change the conversation and plus I was genuinely curious.
"My mouth will be busy eating you out later, so stop trying to change the conversation." Chibs said blatantly.
Warmth flooded my cheeks as he caught me off guard. Sometimes I don't know if i want to fuck or choke him. But his kinky ass might like the choking. "Fine, you win. What do you want to do?" I asked, just to get this over with. I am kind of surprised that he hasn't told Jax anyway, though I wouldn't have been mad.
"I think we should tell Jax the truth. There is no telling what Toni will get herself into in the future and the last thing we need is for her enemies showing up his doorstep." Chibs said.
I sighed as I rubbed my forehead out of frustration. This is such as a mess, but Chibs was right about it. "You're right. I'm going to check on Nyla tomorrow, so I will tell him then. Okay, I don't want to talk about this shit anymore. Good vibes for the rest of the day.
Chibs and I walked for ten minutes before we reached the Ferris Wheel, but I had us stop at the Funnel Cake truck. "Two large Sea Salted Caramel Funnel Sundae dishes, please." Chibs ordered, sliding over a twenty on the counter. The crowd surprisingly started to thin out. We grabbed our desserts and headed over to the Ferris Wheel line. The line was short so we were able to get right on. The sky was starting to turn purplish, streams of the setting sun peeking through.
Chibs and I ate our food in a comfortable silence as we waited for the ferris ride to start. I snuggled into Chibs' side, laying my head on his shoulder. "Chibs, thanks. Today was perfect." I said.
Chibs circled his arm around me, pulling me in closer. "I'm glad to hear that. Shit, it's been a long time since I've actually dated." Chibs said.
The Ferris Wheel gave a jerk as it started to move upward slowly. I turned my head, kissing his neck as I was too lazy to lift my head to his cheek. "You could have fooled me… It's been a long time since someone treated me like a human, at least in an intimate setting." I whispered as I watched as we reached the top. Man, the sky was beautiful and to see the coast from up here was amazing. The wheel stopped for us to take in everything.
"Can I be honest with you about something?" Chibs asked, leaning his head against mine.
"Sure." I mumbled.
"I want you to be a part of my future. I say this so you know that this isn't a fling. This is me committing." Chibs said. I sat up to look him in the eyes, I'm sure with tears coating them. My arms circled around his neck with a shaky smile. I never felt the stronger urge to say those three little words, but I wasn't ready to expose myself in that way.
"I would like that very much, Filip." I said, before pulling him in for a passionate kiss.
Chibs and I made it back to his house, but unfortunately Clay called him in. He promised that whatever it is wasn't going to take long. So currently I was sitting in the middle of the bed, watching Supernatural as I braided my hair in pigtails for the night. My phone started to ring, so I glanced over to see 'Cali' calling. I tapped the answer button, connecting the call. "Hey girl, what's up?" I asked.
"Hey bitch, I was calling to check up on you. Everybody heard about Toni and what happened." Cali said.
I sighed quietly, refusing to get upset. "How the hell did it get back to the club so quick?" I asked, grabbing my spare bonnet off the night table.
"Ashley. You know her ass is all over LA and I'm sure she's hooking up with Shiro. Nevermind all that, are you good? Do you need anything?" Cali asked.
I smiled, knowing Cali is a good person. "I'm alright, it was just a shock for me. But I've done all that I can do." I said, walking around the house to make sure it was locked up.
"Don't worry, the girls will keep their ears open and I'll let you know. Anyways… that isn't all that I needed to tell you." Cali said.
"Oh lord, what could you possibly tell me?" I asked, regretting picking up the phone for the night.
"Do you want the good news or bad news?" She asked.
"Definitely good news." I said, walking back to my bed.
"Angelo is coming home, girl." Cali said happily. I smiled widely, forgetting whatever I was doing in shock.
"What?! I thought he had a ten year bid?" I questioned in shock.
"That's what he was supposed to do, but he's being paroled on good behavior. I think Michael said as long as Angelo continues to attend therapy and maintain civility, he won't have to be paroled for the rest of the five years." Cali explained.
I 'awed' as I can't even wait to see Angelo again. Angelo is a former army soldier that suffered with PTSD and one of many that slipped through the cracks. He was at a bar when he experienced an episode and one of the men got in his face. Angelo nearly beat him to death. "I'm sure Michael is happy as hell." I commented.
"Don't even get me started! He got me organizing a whole damn party to welcome home his brother. Michael almost got popped in the eye, all on my ass about everything." Cali grumbled.
I chuckled. "Sounds exactly like Michael, always doing the most. He knows damn well his brother is a shy, gentle giant." I commented.
"Right! Oh yeah, Michael wants you to come to the 'Welcome Home' party." Cali said.
"You know I will be, just let me know when it is. Okay, I think I've put off the bad news long enough. Lay it on me." I asked.
"I'm just going to go ahead and say it: Cade was found dead this morning." Cali said. I blinked precisely twice, before a stuttering breath broke my mental silence.
"Oh my God, what happened? When did he even get out." By no means did I miss that bastard, because he could sincerely burn in hell. He stalked me for months and doing fuck shit like showing up at my house at all hours of the day, when he got caught up in drug posession charge. I think a couple months after first meeting Chibs two years ago.
"He got out… I want to sayyyy… about a week ago. It wasn't all that long ago. Anyways, I'm assuming he pissed someone off, because they cut the break lines on his car. He ended up getting t-boned off of 65th. It was a big ass pile up." Cali explained.
"Damn, I remember hearing about that on the radio earlier." I said, shaking my head.
"I know you don't really give a shit about him, but I wanted to give you heads up that the police might look your way, especially since you got a restraining order against him." Cali explained.
"Shit… most of the week I've been at work in the morning and with clients, so I definitely have an alibi." I said.
"What about your boyfriend? From what I hear, he runs the streets." Cali countered.
I started to answer, when I heard the doorbell rang. I frowned with confusion as I know damn well Chibs have a key. "Hey Cali, someone's at the door. Thank you for giving me a head's up. We should be good." I said, getting up to put on my robe.
"No problem, AJ. I'll send you info about the party when we have a definite day. Good night." Cali said.
"Good night." I said before hanging up. I stepped in the doorway of the bedroom and screamed, "WHO IS IT?" I called out, but there was no response. I went over to my purse and grabbed my revolver. I hated that Chibs lived almost in the middle of nowhere for this exact reason.
I pushed out my bullet chamber, making sure it was loaded, before clicking it back in place. Clicking the safety off and trigger finger on the side, I approached the front room. The light was off in the room, but porch light seeped into it. I approached the window, pushing back the curtain slightly to look around. I looked around the front yard, not seeing anyone around. I stood there a good five minutes before I walked to the door.
I unlocked the door, the lock sounding loud in my head. I cracked open the door, the revolver grasped tightly in my hand.
Taking in what the hell is on the screen, a part of me hoped for a physical threat, because this… was too much. Looking at dripping red lettering on the screen window saying 'See You Soon, Anissa' with a bloody heart drawn at the end. What was more unsettling was my yellow fenty panties dangling off the door knob.
