the day when Scott and his pack left for Mexico*
Hope woke up feeling much better than the night before and got her energy back along with a good night's rest. She got up from her bed and went into her closet and opened the box that contained the items she had collected, still on fire and still hadn't burned out, so the spell was still up. She closed it as she heard thunder rumbling outside her window and already beginning to pour rain. Hope stretched before getting ready and grabbing an A positive blood bag from the fridge and an apple for herself and ran out the door to try and catch a bus to the hospital while trying to stay clear of the rain forgetting an umbrella. She really did need a driver's license. Maybe she'll try and get one while she's here. Besides, it's not like her family would complain about her getting one. In fact, Hope thinks her family would be relieved that they won't have drive her around everywhere anymore.
She hid the blood bag in her school bag as she entered the bus grabbing a seat at the end while eating her apple waiting for her stop.
She entered the hospital throwing away her apple as she already finished it up to the stem, waved her usual hi to Melissa McCall at the front desk, signed the visitors' sheet saying she was here for hospital regulations, and made her way to her moms' hospital room and saw her resting peacefully still in a coma.
Hope smiled softly at least her mom was ok in her dream state roaming the bayou or wherever her subconscious-ness wanted to take her. Hope grabbed the blood bag out of her bag and inserted it into one of the IVs as her mom's face seemed to twitch in relief.
Hope took her seat that was on the right side of her moms' bed and knew she couldn't stay long so she wanted to catch her mom up on things as fast as she can.
"My friends are going on a camping trip today," Hope said. "I know you'd probably want me to go. But not now. Not when you're in this state. And I know, you being a hybrid and all means you're hard to kill, and you wouldn't me to worry but I am. I do. I can't get on the phone with the rest of our family so call me paranoid like dad but what if something happens? Like when I accidentally got you taken. I don't know how I'm still not grounded for that," Hope admitted. "But, I'm not going to step a foot outside Beacon Hills when no one knows where I'm heading. So, yeah.," Hope finished off. "Anyways, I've got to get to school, I'm probably already late I took my time getting ready this morning and with catching a bus and all, I've got to get a car. See you soon mom." Hope said and left to go catch the bus with her hair and clothes getting wetter in the process.
The school bell rang when she was ten steps from opening the hallways doors. 'So close,' She thought and continued up the school's steps before opening the doors and made her way to class.
"Ms. Marshall. Late again, you have to keep track of your habits. Detention," The teacher said right as she entered the classroom and only nodded thankfully she had her bracelet on so she couldn't Incendia the teachers' sweater they had on, that would probably get her raised eyebrows. She took her usual seat as class began again.
"You know if you need a ride for school I could always pick you up," Allison offered.
"Generous, but I'm good. I visit my mom so I wouldn't want to burden you," Hope said. Allison nodded not speaking further as the class went on.
Hope went to her locker to put away some books and grab new ones for her classes all while trying to dry her hair. For a second Hope paused, she stopped what she was doing and tried to listen closer. It was a scraping sound.
The noise was like concrete against concrete moving against each other heavily, it seemed to be just outside the school and every second it seemed to be getting louder and closer. Before Hope could pinpoint where exactly it was coming from or maybe even an idea of what it was, someone leaned against the locker beside hers, grabbing Hope's attention as she could no longer hear the weird noise coming from outside and looked up to see it was Kira that was beside her and was about to say something when she noticed something weird, her eyes, Kira's eyes were a red. Not the usual red people would get from crying or tiredness around the eye, nothing like that, but the color of her pupils was red, and it almost seemed to be like they were glowing.
"So, your the Hope Kira insists on becoming friends with," (Apparently Not) Kira says and she looks at her up and down. "I don't see why she goes through the trouble or even the effort, it's kind of sad really."
"Let me guess, you're her alter ego, she had told me about," Hope guessed from what Kira had told her yesterday when she got stuck with her in detention and mentioned it.
"Ding Ding Ding!" Not Kira says while shooting her fingers guns and winking at her before sizing her up again head to toe. "Ok, I'll bite, why shouldn't I make your life a living hell instead of being your friend?"
"Because I could make yours's, your worst nightmare," Hope responded tilting her head as the words flowed out of her mouth as she came in eye contact with her.
"Ooh, feisty!" Not Kira grinned. "Consider me sort of impressed. Others would list all the things they could do in cowardice. Not you. I like you. Maybe Kira does have some taste after all," She says and her red eyes showed amusement.
"Am I to be flattered?" Hope asked in sarcasm.
"Most should, I'll let you slide," Not Kira said. "You're different. But don't think that'll get you free passes all the time."
"Right, and just what am supposed to call you if we keep up this conversation or if you happen to pop up again? Not Kira?" Hope asked.
"Léidiàn," She replied looking quite pleased with herself with pride showing on her face. "Kira might not have a lot of knowledge with our ancestors and our past but I certainly would like to soak it all up. Léidiàn. Thunder and Lightning. It also has a nice ring to it too don't you think?"
"If you say so," Hope replied and she closed her locker putting her books in her bag.
"Let's see what you can bring, Hope," Léidiàn said stepping closer to Hope's face almost pressing Hope's back against the lockers behind her. But a moment later Hope stood up straighter and took one step forward as Léidiàn was forced to step back still close to her face.
"I'll see what you can do," Hope said your voice showing no signs of backing down. "So, Léidiàn, I'll be watching you too. And tell Kira I believe her now about her alter ego, you, because I don't have the time to wait around, and frankly I don't want to."
"Orders huh? Alright, fine. I'll let Kira know, and maybe you are worth being friends with," Léidiàn said as she started walking away but faced her once more. "But I'll be the judge of that," She said as she disappeared into the school's hallway.
Weird, was the only thing Hope could think about their conversation as she left through the other side of the school's hallway not too keen on already bumping into Léidiàn again or Kira if she came back. At least they had normal human problems that didn't relate to the supernatural. Hope didn't even know what her family was facing! They wouldn't tell her anything and just practically packed her things for her and said that she's moving somewhere Hayley had scooped out for them.
Hope didn't even know where she was going until she heard yelling that brought her out of her thoughts. And looked around one of the corners of the hallway and saw some kid almost shouting at Liam Dunbar and as his fist was beginning to curl up in a ball and Hope knew what was going to happen and not a moment later Liam's fist connected with the boy's face that brought the other kid down and right at that time a teacher decided to walk by just to see Liam punch the kid.
"Mr. Dunbar! What are you doing?!" The teacher asked in frustration as they went to go and help the kid Liam punch, get up. "Detention Mr. Dunbar. You have to get your condition under control and not attack random students for absolutely no reason!" They scolded as they led the boy to the nurses' office. Hope saw Liam huff in annoyance balling up his fist again.
"I saw that," Hope said as she approached Liam.
He looked her way in surprise for a moment before speaking, "I didn't attack for no reason."
"Oh, I know that, I don't think the teacher did though," Hope assured.
"It's just, I hate when people mention my...condition as they say it," Liam said and Hope saw anger flash through his eyes before realizing what the condition that the teacher was referring to.
"I.E.D," Hope concluded out loud.
"What?"
"You're an I.E.D, aren't you?" Hope asked.
"What gave it away, me punching the kid?" Liam said with a bit of venom in his tone.
"I kind of recognized it. Every once in a while some people have mistaken my dad for it," Hope explained. When some regular people when they see Klaus roaming the streets with anger written all over his face they would mistake him for one and asked whatever family member that was chasing after Klaus to "help him". Their throats were probably ripped out afterward.
"It sucks, I just, I just have so much anger built up inside of me that it tries to release whenever it can in extreme amounts," Liam explained.
"Well, it looks like you're getting better," Hope said.
"How would you know?"
"If it was me I'd probably bust some ribs on the kid," Hope said honestly. "But, heads up detention sucks too."
"You've gotten detention? For what?"
"For being late, and I have detention again today," Hope said. "At least someone I acknowledged will be there, though I doubt it'll make detention speed up."
"My only friend is Mason but he's only here since he convinced his parents to transfer him just to keep me company. But even if he tried, he'll never get detention so that leaves me alone too," Liam said.
"Well then, I'll catch you up in detention," Hope said and left to her classes before she heard that noise again. She slowed down her walking before speeding back up and went into one of the girls' bathrooms and tried to focus more on the noise.
Scraping of concrete...Moving very slowly...getting closer...Closer...Nothing.
That's weird. Hope thought. She pulled a strand of hair behind her ear to try and get a clearer sound but it stopped. The sound was good. There were only students chattering and footsteps outside in the hallways but nothing of that sound. It just stopped.
She flinched a little when the school bell rang catching her off guard and rang 10 times louder in her ear as she quickly stopped with her werewolf hearing.
"Siccum," Hope said when she took her bracelet off and the next second her hair and clothes were dry as if there wasn't a thunderstorm going outside the school.
She exited the restroom putting her bracelet back on and went to go catch up on the rest of her classes. At least it was being late, instead of not even showing up to classes.
"I see you guys when you come back," Hope said as she walked with her friends to Stiles's that they were all apparently going camping in. School had just finished and hundreds of students were rushing to get out.
"Are you sure you don't want to come?" Allison asked Hope.
"Yeah I'm pretty sure," Hope said nodding her head.
"Well, there's going to be no wifi which is a nightmare! So we won't be able to call or text you. But we're hoping this camping trip isn't a stupid idea like I think it is," Lydia said looking at Stiles.
"This camping trip is not a stupid idea!" Stiles defended.
"Maybe I can bring you back a rabbit," Malia suggested and Hope scrunched up her face in confusion.
"What she means is, uh, maybe we could take a picture of a cute rabbit for you if we come across one," Lydia covered. Hope didn't believe what Lydia was telling her but didn't know what else to make of it so she let it go. For now.
"Hey, guys ready?" Isaac asked coming from behind the school doors with Scott beside him.
"Yeah we were just waiting for you guys, " Stiles said as they looked at the rain pouring, they were currently standing under a schools' roof outside so they weren't getting wet yet.
"See you when we get back Hope," Isaac said and waved a goodbye getting in the jeep with Stiles.
"See you on Monday, " Lydia said and she and Malia also got in the jeep leaving Hope, Allison, and Scott.
"Last chance, " Allison said and Hope rolled her eyes playfully.
"God you guys are acting like you're going away forever, " Hope complained. "It's not the end of the world for us."
Allison reached out and hugged Hope as Hope's arms awkwardly didn't know where to go.
"Still not much of a hugger," Hope reminded.
"Right sorry," Allison apologized releasing Hope from the hug and left for the Jeep with the other and left Scott with Hope out of a hear shot.
"So, what are you going to do over the weekend?" Scott asked facing Hope.
"Little bit of this, and a little bit of that," Hope said.
"That's vague," Scott smiled. "If you do need anything on the weekend you know my mom and where we live, so don't be a stranger even if I'm not home," Scott suggested.
"Well, I'm pretty sure I won't be barging into your house during the weekend. And I'm pretty sure I won't be needing to without a reason," Hope said tucking her hair that was in her face behind her ear.
"Yeah, ok that makes sense," Scott said. "Hey, when we get back, um, on Monday would you maybe-"
A loud honk from Stiles's jeep brought their attention to the rest.
"Scott, you coming?" Stiles yelled.
"Yeah I'm going," Scott yelled back and looked back at Hope. "See you, Hope," He said and Hope nodded as Scott walked to Stiles's Jeep and they waved goodbye to Hope as the Jeep exited the school's parking lot and headed towards outside Beacon Hills.
"Dude, really?" Stiles asked Scott.
"What?" Scott asked innocently.
"Anyone could see it," Allison said poking her head in between the two front passenger seats. "But I would say hold off on it."
"Why? What could go wrong?" Malia asked.
"Does she know of the supernatural?" Lydia asked.
"Yeah that's exactly why, we should let Hope be a teenager," Allison said,
"Relax girls," Isaac said. "It's not Scott would start blabbing on about the supernatural the first chance he gets, would you now Scott?" Isaac asked.
"No of course not," Scott said defensibly.
"Just go for it," Malia suggested again. "Why is it complicated?"
Hope saw the Jeep got out of sight when an arm slung around her shoulders and she knew the sent and looked at the other person's face and saw her eyes were red.
"Hello Léidiàn, what do thou want?" Hope asked.
"Aww, you remember me," She said with a smirk on her face.
"Kind of hard to forget when you talked to me only a couple of hours ago," Hope reminded pushing her hand off of her shoulder.
"I heard you got detention," Léidiàn said. "Is that going to get in the way of your little date?" She teased.
"What date?" Hope asked unaware of her face.
"Your little blush says otherwise, maybe Scott backed out before either one of you could be embarrassed," Léidiàn said.
"No, Scott...he wouldn't, eh-why am I even talking to you?!" Hope asked.
She only shrugged, "I get bored and it's so fun watching people having no idea what to do."
"Oh, and I guess it's so entertaining?" Hope replied.
"It really is," Léidiàn answered. "Have fun in detention!" She said with a winning smile walking away in her jean shorts and floral blouse.
Hope swears, there is always one girl like her in every school. At least this one kind of has a reason to be a bit bitchy, Hope will admit though, Kira or more like Leidian is a little less bitchy to her than the other girls she had met.
But still, Hope rolled her eyes as she started to turn around to go back inside the school when she noticed something standing beside the bushes against the walls of the school. 'Huh, weird statue for the school to have.' Hope thought and studied it more. Its eyes were closed it had bat-like wings that were tucked in, its arm across its chest in a position as if it's supposed to be holding something, and had claws on its hands and feet. The students coming out of the school building brought her attention back to reality and stopped looking at the statue and made her way back inside without a second thought not seeing how the next second its red eyes opened.
