Hope continued working on finishing her homework along with the rest of the other students who also managed to get detention throughout the day and they were all now sitting in a teacher's classroom who was hosting detention for today. She focused on what she had to be doing while the rest of the students were all watching the clock tick and tick, waiting for the 2-hour mark to be up.
"Idiots," Hope muttered.
"Hey, who you calling an idiot?" Someone beside her asked.
"The people who are waiting for the time to be up," Hope replied facing Liam. "You done with your English assignment?"
"Yeah, thanks for the help," Liam responded.
"Anytime, nothing I can do until lacrosse season starts," Hope said. "Any idea on who we might be facing?"
"No, I just really hope that it isn't my old school."
"Why is that?" Hope asked.
"Well, because there's a reason I transferred here," Liam (partially) answered.
"Why? What did you do?"
"Anger issues," Liam said. Hope gave him a look that could make almost anyone spill everything. Liam sighed. "I trashed my coach's car," He spoke in a quiet voice that did not sound like his at all.
Hope shrugged. "That would do it."
"What? That it? You're not going to react?" Liam asked his normal voice coming back.
"Could be worse," Hope shrugged again.
"How could it be worse! I demolished his car!" He exclaimed.
"You could've demolished his house," Hope elaborated. "I'm not saying you should've demolished his house instead, just that you could've done worse. Want advice?"
"Do I want it?" Liam asked.
"Yes, you do."
"Fine."
"Don't go destroying cars in the future," Hope whispered as if it was a secret.
"Oh, yeah I'll keep that in mind," Liam said with clear sarcasm in his voice and both of them ended up snickering.
They heard a phone alarm go off and all the students getting up with their backpacks trying to rush out the classroom door.
"Remember! Don't do the same things you did to get in here!" The teacher yelled at the students who were already gone.
"Aren't you going?" Liam asked Hope as he got up with his backpack slung over his shoulders.
"Yeah, I just take my time to make sure I have everything in place," Hope answered.
"Got it, see you, Hope," Liam said and Hope waved bye as Liam and the teacher walked out of the room leaving Hope the only one left in the class and now probably in the school.
Hope finished putting the rest of the items in her bag and turned off the classroom lights. She strolled through the hallways and some lights flickered. 'Weird,' She thought. She had her bracelet on and her emotions weren't off the chart last time she checked.
Hope shrugged it off as it could be the schools' problem and continued walking almost making it to the end when she froze.
The noise was back. The scraping against concrete, moving against each other roughly.
Hope spun around and right behind her was that same gargoyle was standing right behind her. She took three steps back and on the last one, the statue opened its eyes as its wings extended its arms extending along with it.
"What the hell-?!" Hope was cut off by its roar and its attempt to try and scratch Hope as she jumped back dodging again as she turned and ran for the door only to find that they were lock before she could cast a spell to get them to unlock there was a sound of a door opening and she turned around to see Liam coming out of the boys' restroom coming next to her with the gargoyle, not insight.
"Hey, I thought you left," Liam said.
"Yeah, I lost something and had to find it," Hope said. Liam opened the doors that the moment before was stuck close, and now he opened them with ease. "Let's go," Hope said and took a step outside when the gargoyle appeared again and Hope jumped back and Liam frowned in confusion before the statue growled that made his head snap forward right before the gargoyle claws accidentally came into contact with him instead of Hope as she to drag Liam back and felt him getting heavier as she quickly pushed Liam into an open classroom closing the door behind them.
"What the hell was that!?" Liam practically yelled to the top of his lungs.
"Shh! Do you want it to find us again!?" Hope whispered yelled before walking to a window and opening it. "Climb out."
"How are you not freak out!" Liam exclaimed.
"I am! But I can't be right now! I need to get home!" Hope said as she held the window open. "Now let's go!"
Liam grumbled but spoke again as he started climbing out the window. "What's going to your house going to do?!"
"Just go!" Hope hissed as Liam was already out and she followed dragging him in the direction of her house.
They went in the back of Hope's mansion that held an abandoned shed that was used to hold werewolves during when her father thought he was getting close to breaking the curse.
"We can't break into private property!" Liam said hissed after holding his backside.
"We're not," Hope assured as she got out her key and unlocked the door to the shed, and turned to see Liam collapse on the floor groaning in pain.
"Liam!" Hope exclaimed kneeling before him.
"Urgh," Liam groaned as he shifting. "I can barely move," He whispered before yelling, "Why can't I move!"
"Shit," Hope muttered before dragging Liam in the shed and locking the door.
"What the hell is happening!" Liam yelled.
"Liam, well, I don't exactly know! I've never seen anything like it before!" Hope yelled back.
"What do you mean you've never seen anything like it before! Wh-what does that mean!" Liam shouted and let his head fall on the concrete floor and made another groan in pain.
"Urgh! I shouldn't have said that!" Hope cursed. She was thinking about what to do when there was the noise of scrapping of concrete again. Getting closer and closer again.
Hope cursed again at her luck before there was something in her bag getting heavier. She frowned and opened it to see the knife she used to almost kill the dragon glowing in her hand like it had the first time she held it.
"What?" Hope muttered as the knife flowed more brightly before there was a pounding at the door.
"It's here isn't it?" Liam asked with a deadpan face.
"Appears to be," Hope replied.
"You're explaining this to me later," Liam said
"I'm going to open the door," Hope said quickly.
"Oh that's a great idea," Liam said sarcastically.
Hope ignored his comment and opened the door to come face or face with the gargoyle whose eyes immediately went to the knife in her hands but it couldn't do anything before Hope chanted.
"Fluctus inpulsa!" Hope yelled and it sent the gargoyle flying back as she went up to it. "Intermissum!" She yelled another chant as she closed her fist as the gargoyle roared again as it shattered into a million pieces leaving some substance of black goo before she could think any more of it she heard another cry of pain from Liam and went to go help her friend.
"Liam?" Hope asked as she approached him.
Liam hummed something that Hope could let make out before she noticed his face was a bit pale and that his heart was slowing down a bit. She quickly turned him on his side and lifted his shirt and saw some claw marks that were grey and were spreading through his body. It didn't take Hope long before realizing it was making Liam freeze or something to make him be like a statue and that it was spreading to his heart.
"This is going to suck," Hope warned and Liam's face morphed into confusion before groaning in pain as his face was shut sealed. "Transuerso," Hope had said and the wounds were healing as Liam was slowly passing out from the pain.
It wasn't pleasant dragging Liam's body through the grass of the property or getting upstairs to her room. Why wasn't there an elevator? Hope thought as she looked out into the woods in the balcony of her room as she listened to Liam wake up after 30 minutes.
"Urgh, Mom I had the weirdest dream," Liam muttered before opening his eyes seeing Hope standing in front of the bed.
"I don't know what was weirder, the gargoyle or you calling me mom," Hope teased for a moment and let out a chuckled before turning her face turned serious while Liam was looking around her room in awe before his face turned from amazement to fear.
"That THING was REAL!" Liam yelled and he was scrambling to get out to the door where Hope closed with a wave of her hand. He looked back with confusion written all over his face as he kept looking back and forth between the door and Hope. "You..."
"I'm a witch, ok?" Hope asked her voice uneasy and Liam looked like he was going to faint again.
"W-what happened to the thing?" Liam asked.
"I shattered it, it won't be coming around anytime anymore," Hope assured before Liam started shooting questions.
"What the hell!? So you just shattered it? With your magic?! What even was that?! How was it alive? Why did it come here? And how are you so calm?!" Liam blabbed on.
"You don't think I'm not freaking out too?!" Hope yelled back before trying to calm herself. "Let me explain-,"
"How?!"
"You know I could take your memory, right?" Hope asked looking deadly serious. "It may take a while and some pain on your end but it can be done and I won't have to explain it!"
"Sorry..." Liam said and he kept quiet after that.
"Ok, so that 'thing' that attacked us was a gargoyle, I know because I read it here," Hope said reaching for The Bestiary that was on her desk and gave it to Liam who scrolled through the pages. "I figured if it was like a statue it could break like one, which it did."
"H-how are you a witch," Liam said in a quiet voice like he was afraid Hope was going to kill him any second. She grimaced at that.
"My grandmother was one," Hope replied.
"Your parents?"
Hope shook her head. "They're not, that takes more explaining."
"Well then," Liam said and Hope could feel less fear coming off him. "I'm all ears.
*a while later*
"Let me get this straight," Liam said as he paced back and forth in Hope's room for the millionth time. "Your a were-witch," (Hope left the part that she was also part vampire) "Your mom, is a hybrid...that is a wolf and a vampire?" He looked at Hope for confirmation to which she nodded. "And so is your dad, but he and his siblings are the oldest beings in the world because...they're the first vampires?"
"Yep," Hope said. "That sort of sums it up."
"So vampires can procreate?" Liam asked facing her.
"No. But since my dad is part werewolf, that part can, and here I am. Miracle baby." Hope said sitting up in her bed as Liam fell backward on his back grabbing one of her pillows and threw it on top of his head.
"This is all overwhelming," Liam said muffled by the pillow.
"And that's part of it," Hope said and Liam groaned into the pillow sitting right it dropping the pillow.
"And you live in this world?!" Liam questioned.
"Yep."
Liam let out a deep sigh. "Is possible for a werewolf to create another werewolf or a witch to give magic to another person?" Liam asked.
"No and no."
"But some myths say that a werewolf but can turn you, or if you drink water out of ones' footprints."
"Eww! That's disgusting!" Hope exclaimed. "Drinking out of a wolf's or werewolf's foot! God no!"
"And the bite?"
Hope shook her head. "Our bites hurt like hell to humans but are deadly poisonous to vampires who die slowly." She said. "The only cure to the werewolf bite for a vampire is my blood or my dad's."
"Good to know I won't have to go through with that, do you shift into a full wolf? How?"
"I do shift into a full wolf," Hope confirmed. "And we are werewolves because we each come from a bloodline when werewolves were created. Thanks to a powerful, vengeful, hunger-power witch bitch."
Hope spent the rest of the day talking only about werewolves with some outbursts from Liam or some fainting.
