Scott parked his bike along with the others that were in the school parking lot and winced a bit when he lifted his arms to take off his helmet as the punches and scratches from the berserkers were still sore at the very least. When he did, he saw Isaac and Stiles come from the main school building to greet him at the school parking but an unusual hurried pace. But how they keep on beating him to school, he will never know.
"You're finally here!" Stiles exclaimed sounding a bit frantic.
"Yeah, of course, I am," Scott said getting off his bike and walking up to them.
"You should see this," Isaac said as Stiles pushed him into the school and through the hallway with Isaac right behind them both of them smelled confused and worried to Scott. They continued pushing Scott through the school in the same hurry as they went to greet him and were bringing him towards the scene they had the fight.
"Wait, the mess we made! It's still there!" Scott said realizing the part of the school they were taking him and what it could mean 'What do people think happened there?! What if they were going to launch an investigation? We can't deal with that now!' Scott thought his thoughts running through his head with millions of possibilities of what might happen.
"Well…not exactly," Isaac hesitated as they opened the door to the platform they fought the berserkers, Scott expected to see yellow tapes with some deputies, or news reporters, with a huge crowd of students all chattering what happened or observing the damage they had made.
Instead, Scott frowned in confusion at what he was seeing.
"It's…it's gone," Scott exhaled in disbelief.
"Yep, all of it," Isaac said pointing to the school structure. "The Allison's arrow holes in the lockers. The cracks on the floor we made on impact. And even the massive piece of bricks we removed from the pillars with our heads are back. All of it is in its place as if it were all new."
"How did you guys pull this off?" Scott asked.
"We didn't."
"Huh?" Scott asked. And found them shaking their heads in a no pattern. "Then who did? I know it wasn't fake. I could still feel my wounds even if they are healed," Scott winced at the thought of it.
"Don't remind me. My wounds heal at a normal beta rate." Isaac complained grabbing his shoulder.
"It's confusing. Even for me." Stiles said. "Do you smell something with your wolf powers?"
"How many times do we have to say to you to not call it wolf powers?!"
"Many," Stiles answered. "Anything?"
Reluctantly both Isaac and Scott were trying to focus on trying to find a distinguish scent among the many but it was confusing to their sense of their smell when they didn't know what to look for since all the scents were familiar.
"Nothing."
"Half of the school have already passed here this morning," Scott said and they observed every student that was passing by to get to their classes before the school bell rang all with a friend or trying to finish their homework.
"It's hard to distinguish one scent when we don't even know what we're looking for," Isaac said. Then a lightbulb went up in Scott's brain.
"Or maybe we do," He said and both of the boys looked at him confused. "In Mexico, Araya said to me 'thank our bruja' remember?" They nodded.
"Yeah right. You told us that, Lydia translated it to witch." Isaac added.
"And we don't know any witches. We didn't even know witches existed. When I asked what she meant she said that if we don't know they must be watching us from afar." Scott finished.
"Wait, you're saying that we basically have a guardian angel who cleaned up our mess and we don't even know who they are but they don't know us," Stiles said. "That's not creepy. But that means they saw the fight, why didn't they jump in and stop it instead of cleaning it up?"
"I don't know. Maybe they didn't even see the fight maybe just the aftermath. The point is Araya wasn't fooling around us. She was telling the truth." Scott said.
"We have a witch protecting us."
Hope walked into the school trying to someone. After her discovery last night it couldn't wait. She already went to the hospital a quick in and out to make sure her mom got her blood bag for the day before leaving immediately. Ever since she looked into the blood banks or hospitals or anything related to blood robberies in beacon Hills and there haven't been a couple of dozen of blood bags missing. But, there were missing people along with some victims claiming the thing that almost took them had pointy teeth. Hopefully, they were delusional or it was just vampires and not Hybrids. Either way, whoever they are, are new to this or very slow learners if they left victims to tell their tale. And that meant she needed help. Her aunt Freya always said it was a good idea to get a second opinion if you're not very sure. And right now the only person that knew about her was luckily in the same grade as her.
"Here," Hope said shoving a copy of 'The Bestiary' into Liam's hands.
"What is this?" He asked.
"It's a copy of The Bestiary, I need you to help me," Hope said.
"And why would I do that?" Liam demanded.
"You want me to say sorry about that? Well, I'm not. Memories are important and I'm pretty sure you don't want to act like a douche bag to people for the rest of your life. And I shouldn't even be putting you in more danger by doing this but you're the only one in this town who knows what I am. And I need help." Hope admitted.
Liam was silent for a moment before sighing and giving a shrug. "What do need help in?"
"I want to prove myself wrong," Hope said. "Hybrids."
"Hybrids? Like your mom and your dad?"
"Yes, exactly. I think they're here."
"Your dad is here?" Liam asked.
"No. Uh-huh, no way. If he was here you'd already be dead from learning about me." Hope said. "I'm talking about more hybrids. I know what I said that there were no more, but there might be."
"What makes you think that?" Liam asked already flipping through the pages of the book.
"Because they were werewolves at this place last night-"
"What?!"
"Don't interrupt me," Hope warned. "But werewolves could only shift on a full moon. And there wasn't a full moon yesterday. The only ones who can shift without a full moon are my pack and my parents. But they're not here. And more hybrids can be made. Or maybe a couple of hybrids survived when my dad attacked them. I don't know, I don't care I just want to be wrong." Hope said.
"Why? What's wrong if they are here?" He asked.
"Because that means me or my parents didn't sire them. And whoever did has some of our blood and or doppelgänger blood and it means they could be after me and my family if we don't know about them. I can handle myself but I don't my family to worry about thinking there's a problem when I can fix it."
"That's a lot to process." He said barely fazed. "So what am I suppose to be looking for?" Liam asked.
"Anything that drinks blood and or kidnaps people. There have been a couple of dozen people gone missing in this town and that's not usually a good sign from where I'm from." Hope explained.
"What if they were vampires?"
"Then that means there are no real problems and won't even be able to touch anyone."
"Why's that?" Liam asked.
"Vervain, I explained it to you that it's dangerous to vampire which this town has tea of it and is all over the forest, unlike mystic falls," Hope muttered the last part.
"That's assuring," Liam said honestly. "Ok, so-"
"Hey Hope," Interrupted Liam and she turned around to see Scott approaching them.
"Oh, hey Scott," Hope said and gave a small smile back. Scott kept walking up to her until he was standing right next to her.
"Uh hey, Liam right?" Scott asked.
"Yeah, any more weird approaches?" Liam asked. Scott winced that was barely noticeable to regular humans but not to Hope. She wondered what he meant by that.
Liam looked over Hope's shoulder. "I got to go, my friend, is here. Bye Hope." He said and rushed to go over to Mason who was waiting for him while he was putting the book Hope gave him in his backpack and left with Mason to class.
"So, why were you talking to Liam?" Scott asked and felt his fist balling up before he noticed and relaxed his hand before anyone saw it and before he started bleeding from his palms with his claws that he put away. He turned to Hope as she leaned against the lockers. "Curious," He added just to seem like it was nothing.
"Just an assignment he needed to get done," Hope said with ease and a steady heartbeat.
"How do you know him? From lacrosse already?" Scott asked trying to steady himself.
"No, I don't even know half of their names. Only you, Stiles, and Isaac." Hope said looking at him. "Detention is how I know him. I'm a freshman too remember?"
"Wait? You never told us that." Scott said. "How come you take some of our classes with us then?"
"That's because I take them as AP classes. Anyways, Liam wanted help in an assignment and I got him some information," Hope lied but nothing said that she was.
"Would you mind if I were to walk with you to class?" Scott asked with a small smile that Hope thought was a cute sight.
"Why wouldn't I, you're heading in the same direction since we do have the same classes" Hope said and stopped leaning against the lockers and began to walk with Scott.
"So we have our first official lacrosse practice today," Scott started.
"Really? How come you know?" Hope asked.
"Stiles might've snuck into coach's office," Scott said with a chuckle after. "It's nice you made the lacrosse team. You'll be able to hang out with us more."
"I'll think I'll stick with the girls," Hope joked. "So, since you have the information Stiles got, do you know who we will be going up against up first?"
"Yeah, I think it Devenford, was what Stiles said," He answered. "They are our rivals and the one we have the most matches with. Usually."
"Are they good?"
"Very."
"Well it's a good thing you have me then," Hope said with a bit of a cocky tone slipping. "I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve."
"I guess we're going to need them," Scott said and turned to look at Hope who looked towards him at the same time and both stopped in their tracks for a moment as everyone around them blurred out. They continued that for a couple more moments before Hope was the one who snapped out of it first and turned her head and continued walked.
"Come on or your going to be late," Hope said her voice light and soft that drew Scott out of his mind and went to catch up with her.
'Remember Hope, this stay isn't forever. You're going to have to go back home eventually. Home. Back to New Orleans where you are never going to visit this town again," She thought miserably before returning to the present.
Both of them arrived at class on time which was new to Hope for the first time in the last couple of days and they all waited for the teacher to begin.
"Before we get on with the lesson for today I have to make an announcement." They said and all the students' focus was now upfront. "We are having some students from across the country in an exchange program coming soon to take a look into our school to see if they want to go here."
A kid raised their hand. "Why our school?"
"Because our school volunteered. I think," They muttered the last part. "Any more questions? No? Good on with the lesson." They said even though there were some hands raised.
"Come one we have nothing better to do, it's free period," Lydia said as Allison dragged Malia.
"Why do we have to go?!" Malia complained. "I mean why do I have to go? I know you are just bored," She said pointing to Lydia. "And you just want to check out Isaac," She said pointing to Allison this time.
"W-what? No, of course not. Yeah, he's hot and all. But Isaac, come one. It'll just be weird," Allison said.
"Honey we all see it," Lydia backed up. "Only the boys don't. For now though," She said then facing Malia. "You are coming with us."
"Fine! But you're going to help me understand the meaning of math," Malia said.
"It's simple-"
"No, it's not. It's very hard and confusing!" Malia said as she stomped her way outside of the school and onto the bleachers where Allison and Lydia followed.
"Hey," Hope said running into Liam as he was the first one out of the locker room. Hope scrunched up her nose in disgust. "Ugh,"
"What's wrong?"
"Teenage boys locker room and werewolf nose do not mix, at all," Hope said slowly getting over the smell that hit her 10 times stronger even if she was about 15 feet away from it. "So did you find anything?" She asked.
"Yeah kind of, I found an animal that drinks blood," Liam said making his way to Hope so they could start getting on the field. "Do you know anything of a wendigo?"
"Nope, I wouldn't have given you a copy of the book if I did," Hope said.
Liam rolled his eyes. "Whatever, anyway. It's a creature that drinks blood. Or feeds off of human flesh but I figured it's about the same thing. So there, you might have your problem solved."
"Yeah well, that's if they stay out of my way," She said. "Thanks though. For helping me out."
"Well you did I say I was the only one who knows what you are," Liam shrugged. "Why don't you tell your friends? I'm sure they'll understand if I do and I barely know you."
"I took a risk telling you," She said. "And I already told you why when you asked the first time. All it takes is one person to spill before they are hunting me down. And when I mean they I mean vampires who want revenge on my dad or hunters who'll love to kill me." Hope said as it didn't seem to faze her but it fazed Liam.
"Ok seriously. How do you live in that world?!"
"Born into it," Hope said. "What I would give to me a normal teenager. Anyways come one," She said grabbing her lacrosse sticks "Let's see if you can make a shot."
"That's not fair, you have werewolf powers!"
"I'd prefer if it were called werewolf senses. Besides, it'll give you a challenge," Hope shrugged and they ran onto the field.
"Of course you're still the team captain," Isaac said to Scott.
"For once scarf boy has a point. No one pales in comparison." Stiles said,
"Well maybe Hope and Liam and me," Isaac added.
"You know what, Isaac?" Stiles asked. "You should add being helpful to the list of skills that you don't have." Isaac ignored him as always.
"You got your grades up just like Coach told you to, right?" Stiles tried again. "We got bigger things to deal with anyways. Did you tell Argent yet?"
"I texted him but he didn't get back to me," Scott said as they stopped.
"You told him his sister Kate came back from the dead over a text?" Stiles asked facing him.
"I didn't have the money to call France," Scott said.
"It's a shame I didn't go when he didn't invite me. Then I wouldn't have to deal with this," Isaac said.
"Yeah well, you missed your chance," Stiles said. "And you think you got money problems? Turns out when my mom had to get an MRI scan before she died my dad didn't have the money and got a loan from the bank. He's been slowly giving it back over the many years but it isn't enough. He got a notice that said 'Final'," Stiles said.
"Dude, I'm sorry," Scott said. "I wish I could help-"
"But you got money problems too and plus the 117 million problems we have to worry about too. No worries. It'll be fine. Eventually." Stiles said and they continued walking onto the field. "At least the one thing we don't have to worry about is lacrosse," Stiles said then they saw what was happening on the field.
There was a mini-match going on. Four players against two. They couldn't tell who was who cause they didn't have their jerseys on and the helmets were covering their faces. They were playing with one goal and they were all running. One had the ball in his lacrosse stick and was running to the goal looking like he was going to shoot it when suddenly he passed the ball to his teammate across from him that caught the ball like they were expecting it even though no words were shared or even glances were made to even signal the ball was coming and the person now with the ball made an overthrow that made it into the goal with incredible speed.
"I wasn't ready for that," Scott heard from across the field.
"That was awesome though, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, Yeah, just warn me next time,"
They started again and this time one from the other team tried to make a goal before one caught before it could hit the net and passed it to the other who dodged the other 3 players and made it into the goal again.
"Scratch that," Stiles said with a worried face while Isaac looked fascinated with his eyebrows raised. The two players that were dominating the other team took off their helmets fiving each other.
"Hope and Liam?" Isaac asked. "Since when do they know each other?" He asked facing Scott to see red eyes glaring at them something he never did.
"How did we go from practicing from just us two to a mini lacrosse game?" Scott heard Hope asked which did nothing to calm him. 'Only them two were supposed to practice together?' Scott thought.
"I don't know but it sure is fun," Liam said.
"Hey those are some sick moves you guys got back there," Scott heard Garrett said coming up to them.
"What's practice for?" Hope asked rhetorically.
"Keep it up and we won't even need the team, only you two," He complimented.
Both Hope and Liam chuckled at that.
"Hey, hey, hey," Stiles said bringing Scott's attention to him instead of the pair that was crushing the rest of the field. "Ok so maybe we need a little bit of more work. And for Liam to back off," Stiles said quickly before they made their way to the field.
Melissa McCall checked was standing outside the door up of room 170. The room of Hayley Marshall. Hope's mom. Melissa sympathizes Hope, no child should have to be without a parent even for a while. It took Scott when he was a child to get over his father leaving and it's a pain in the ass that he was back just walking back in like he would solve all their (money) problems. Melissa tried to be both parents for Scott when he was growing up and now she's trying to do the same for Isaac and she wonders who Hope has now. To her knowledge, it's just Hope and her mom here and she doesn't know how Hope's dealing. She took a sigh before returning to the first floor when Dr. Greyer approached her on a serious matter.
"The nursing staff's already spread too thin," Melissa complained.
"I know there's never a good place to make cuts, but this hospital has seen a bizarre amount of damage and the insurance isn't going to cover it. We have to cut back."
'Maybe I can pull some money from pediatrics..." Melissa started.
"Your shift is over." Dr. Greyer chuckled. "I'm exhausted just looking at you. Please go home and get some sleep."
"Okay." Melissa agreed. "I need to get some dinner first."
"Melissa," He said, looking at her worried which confused her. "It's 7:00 am."
Suddenly a boy came in with only sweat pants and collapsed on the floor leading them to rush towards him. They quickly got him into a room and treated the wounds they could while he was getting the rest and they had ID him as Sheriff Stilinski came in with other deputies with body bags that he signaled Melissa to the morgue where she and opened one up after the rest had left.
"Now I know why he hasn't spoken a word to the psychologist yet," Melissa said zipping up the body bag.
"He's going to be in shock for a while, isn't he?" The Sheriff asked, Melissa, nodded yes.
"This was his whole family?" She asked.
"Mother, father, older brother. Sean was the youngest. And the only one that got away. The question is from what?" He sighed.
"From who," Melissa corrected. "These wounds weren't caused by claws and fangs. These are deep cuts, a combination of sharp and blunt force trauma." She explained.
"That's what the ME said. Some kind of ax. I just need to make sure that we didn't have to, uh..."
"Involve the boys?"
"Yeah." He admitted. "If this is everyday homicide instead of the supernatural kind, then maybe we can give them the day off from the world of murder and massacres."
"When do we get a day off?" Melissa said seriously before chuckling signaling it was a joke.
The bell rang meaning there were five minutes before the free period was over and they all had to get back to their classes so the lacrosse players made it off the field.
"Thanks again for the information," Hope said.
"I just did the research I'm guessing whatever hard part that comes next will depend on you," Liam guessed. "You can repay me by helping me make team captain."
"I think I heard somewhere that there were co-captains so you and Scott can be captains," Hope said.
Meanwhile, Scott was hating the way Hope and Liam were walking and talking together like they were best friends in the world when he and the others met her first.
"Hey, Liam," Stiles said approaching him (something Scott didn't expect) after they were done changing. "You want to explain what that was out there?"
"What do you mean?" Liam asked as he finished putting on his shirt.
"That little display. Your little circus act." Stiles said which made Scott look at Stiles with a shocked face thinking he still thought Liam was a werewolf.
"What circus act?"
"You and Hope," Stiles said which made Scott's eyes widen with a pleading look on his face for him to stop while Isaac came from his locker in the next row clearly about to laugh at Stiles. "You're a freshman, right?"
"Yeah." He said with ease.
"And you know Hope how exactly?" Stiles asked.
"Detention," He said as if that explained everything.
"Yeah that just clears everything up then, doesn't it?"
"Stiles," Scott warned and Isaac was getting more entertained by the second.
"If you guys are done with this weird conversation I'll go on my way," Liam said and walked out of the locker room.
"Dude!" Scott yelled at Stiles. "What was that?"
"What?! I was just trying to help you. You know, with Hope and all that," Stiles shrugged.
"More like scarring him," Scott said.
"Hey! No. Of course, I wasn't," Stiles complained.
"Tsk, tsk tsk," Isaac said. "Stiles, Scott here doesn't like it when we bring up his girlfriend."
"Hope is not my girlfriend."
"Yet," He said. "And us helping him will make him back down more which will be painful to watch."
"Yeah, you're right. Surprisingly. I really don't want to see him pinning again," Stiles replied to Isaac.
The next period of the day, Math. Malia made her way to the class but one look at what was on the board she was ready to turn around and ditch school when Lydia came and dragged her in.
"I hate math! All that time with you explaining it I still don't get it!" Malia complained.
"It's important in life like medicine, economics, engineering..." Lydia trailed off. "Do you see what I'm getting at?" She said as they took their seats.
"If I had just stayed a coyote," Malia muttered.
"All right," Ms. Fleming started. "Volunteers to the board." A couple of kids raised their hands. "Lydia, Diego, Malia." She called on.
"Um...I didn't volunteer." Malia said confused.
"You did now." She said stiffly. "To the board."
Malia let out a small growl to Lydia as she rolled her eyes in response to Malia's growl.
While the two were getting the problem easily Malia froze when Lydia whispered her the answer and Stiles got an alert on his phone. A triple homicide was going on.
"An ax murderer?" Lydia asked as the three of them exited math class.
"A family murdering ax murderer." Stiles clarified.
"Well that seems pleasant," Lydia said.
"This related to us how?" Malia asked.
"Well let's find out, come one," Stiles said walking the doors.
"Whoa, whoa," Lydia said making Stiles stop. "We've got Econ in five minutes."
"And what about the others?" Malia asked.
"I'll send them a text," Stiles said holding up his phone.
"No, Stiles."
"There's a family murdering ax murderer and we're not going to do anything about it?" Stiles asked.
"Maybe we should just let the adults handle it for once," Lydia said.
"So two of you, you just want to stay here, school, go to class. Never heard anything so irresponsible in my life." Stiles said walking away.
"You do realize you have practice later!" Malia called out to him in which Stiles made frustrated hand gestures before disappearing into the hallway.
"I said I don't want anyone else on site." The Sheriff said coming out of his office alerting the other deputies with Parrish behind him. "Review the photos. And don't blame me for the nightmares."
"But Sheriff, don't you feel like we're missing something?" Parrish asked when the others were dismissed.
"I have the same feeling," Agent McCall said coming into the station.
"Mr. McCall," Sheriff Stilinski said in disbelief.
"Agent McCall," He corrected. "I'm bringing in an expert from Quantico who deals with exactly this kind of thing."
"You mean the US Marshal?" Parrish asked.
"What US Marshal?" The sheriff asked in confusion when Parrish turned his head to look at Braden who was posing as a US Marshal.
"I called about the case file." She said showing her fake ID badge. The sheriff sighed.
"I don't know why my eyes glow red or my fangs and claws threatened to come out when I saw Hope playing with Liam at free period," Scott said in the boys' locker room for lacrosse.
"Simple, you're jealous," Isaac said closing his locker.
"No, I can't be," Scott grumbled.
"Leave him be Isaac, he just won't want to admit it," Stiles said.
"I'm not jealous!"
"Denial," Stiles sang.
They heard the coach's whistle blow grabbing their attention. "I'm only going to say this once. Tryouts ended but most of you still suck now that I look back on it so at least try this time since all positions are still available. This is a rebuilding season, people. As I said Jackson's gone, Greenburg was held back again, and all of you are below average. Now get your asses on the field.
"Hey, Coach...I just wanted to ask if...I was still... If I'm... You know..." Scott stuttered after going up to coach after he dismissed everyone.
"You're on the team, McCall." Coach said turning to leave.
"But...But am I...Everything that I was on the team before?" Scott asked.
Coach patted his shoulder and whispered, "All positions are open." He said before walking away. Isaac came up to pat Scott's shoulders in what was meant to comfort him as they both exited the locker room as Stiles saw Liam overhead and was slightly smirking at the thought of being captain.
Hope joined up with the rest as they all made it to the field and the drills were already lined up for them while some people ran laps, others were exercising and warming up.
"Terrible. Horrifying. Pathetic. Unbelievably pathetic." Coach said as the final ones that were running were finally finishing up. "Is that everyone?"
Soon enough Stiles also finished and started panting like crazy as he fell on the floor.
"Yep, that's everyone." Coach said stopping his timer.
"Come one get up," Isaac said coming back with barely a sweat, hauling Stiles to his feet.
"Who came in first?" Stiles asked. And Scott pointed in the direction where Liam was doing push-ups and Hope was sitting next to him looking like she had all the strength in the world too like Isaac and Scott with barely a sweat.
"Are you sure you aren't a werewolf?" Hope asked.
"I'm pretty sure," Liam responded. "My stepdad made captain in Lacrosse in sophomore year, he's just been training me."
"If you say so," She said humming.
"He isn't human," Stiles complained. "What is he? Like a Were-Cheetah if he's not a werewolf?"
"I don't think that's a thing mate," Isaac said.
"Well we didn't know witches were a real thing so..." Scott said and Isaac glared at him. "What?"
"I'm gonna puke, take me somewhere," Stiles said.
"Na uh, you want to puke you go off the field," Isaac said pointing to the bathroom.
"This is pointless," Malia said as she slammed her math book close.
"It's necessary," Allison said who was sitting next to Lydia.
"How many more times are you going to give me that lecture?" Malia grumbled when suddenly she lifted her head smelling a sweet scent when Kira came and sat next to her with a book in her hand leaning against the poles that were behind then since they were at the top and got out the rest of her stuff to study.
"Malia? Malia!" Allison said and snapped her fingers to get her attention.
"Huh? What?" She asked as Kira (Leidian) smiled genuinely behind her book.
"I said they already started the lacrosse practice," Allison said.
"And? Just your excuse to look at Isaac."
"Let that go!"
"No," Malia said with ease when someone tapped her shoulder on the other side and turned to Kira (Leidian).
"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" She asked in a Kira tone.
"Uh yeah, here you go," Malia said passing her pencil that was in her hand.
"Thanks," She smiled sweetly and went back to her book.
"Sweetie," Lydia said whispering in her ear that Leidian did not like. "Be careful with that one."
Stiles tried to pick up the lacrosse ball but failed to due to him still being exhausted from the run so he just grabbed the ball and put it in his lacrosse stick in which the other boys chuckled and he tried to throw it in the goal where it landed directly in the goalies' lacrosse stick not even moving it a little. He got in line with Scott and Isaac not caring he was cutting in line.
Liam was up and made his shot almost perfect like when tryouts were opened. "Yes!" Coach yelled and the parts of the crowd who were watching cheered.
"I was hoping he'd miss," Stiles said. "I hate this kid!"
"You don't have to hate him. The team needs new players." Isaac shrugged.
"What about a new team captain that shows off to Hope every single second?" Stiles asked which was directed to Scott as Hope was up and if it was possible her ball moved a lot faster, in a blink of an eye, that the goalie couldn't even move or respond before it landed in the net.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Coach yelled and there were other cheers from the crowd again.
That comment Stiles made, was enough to make Scott's eyes glow red again as he lifted his ball after another couple of other players went and his mind was clouded so when he threw it, it went at almost full force but he threw it blindly so it ended up denting the goalie post and there were some chuckles following.
"Nice, McCall," Garrett said in a mocking tone.
"Hey, Garrett..." Stiles started.
"Shut up," Hope finished surprising Garrett as he did what he was told even looking down like he was scolded by his mother. The turns went on and everyone was going good especially Hope and Liam who were making every single shot. Isaac was doing good like everyone else. And for Scott and Stiles... they kept on missing and over over the net, one time Scott was close but it moved too slow so the goalie was able the catch it.
"Isn't the captain supposed to be one of the best players on the team? Or good?" Malia asked the girls who were also frowning in confusion at Scott.
"What is going on with you guys?" Isaac asked. "I know Stiles is being as he has always been, but you." He said to Scott. "Almost everyone here is beating the true alpha."
"I don't know. I'm having a really off day." Scott defended.
"Or you weren't until Stiles here put the idea of Liam and Hope in your brain," Isaac said and Scott growled. "Now I see I shouldn't have mentioned that again."
"Thanks a lot, Isaac," Stiles said.
"Me? You're the one who said that in the first place!" Isaac shot back.
"Looks like the boys are complaining," Lydia said and their attention was brought on Isaac and Stiles who seemed to be arguing. At that same time Leidian looked up from her book and her eyes went back to their normal color and Kira looked next to her and saw Malia and was now a blushing mess, trying to hide behind her book even more as she gripped on the pencil Malia gave her tight and could practically hear Leidian laughing at her.
"You... You are the Alpha." Stiles said turning to Scott.
"Not right now, my mind, it's just red," Scott admitted,
"Then you have to clear it," Isaac said. "Your anchor is how you clear your mind if you're wondering. Derek taught me that on my first full moon."
"Yeah but, my anchor is myself. How am I supposed to clear my mind if it doesn't let me?" He asked.
"Find a new anchor," Isaac shrugged. "Cause as powerful as you are, you do need someone to rely on eventually," Isaac said before it was his turn.
"Do you know what they're saying?" Liam asked Hope pointing to her friends.
"I could, but that'll be considered eavesdropping," Hope said.
"That's the point," Liam said. "Everyone was saying how Scott was the best player, and I want to know what's going on with him."
"Eavesdropping for your benefit. Yeah no thanks," Hope said as Isaac took his shot and made it and she could hear Allison giggle. Ok, she was an eavesdropper sometimes but come one, even she could use some teen drama every once in a while.
"Good one Lahey!" Coach yelled. "McCall and Stilinski, grab the long sticks. You're covering goal for two-on-ones, your play." Coach said which was a relief to them. "Let's go! Line it up!" Coach blew his whistle for them to get into a new line.
This time Scott and Stiles were able to bring now everyone so far not a single was able to even release the ball towards the goal.
"That's my boys! Those two are like sons to me." Coach blew his whistle again to continued and the rest continued and this time it was painful for the other players to watch because the rest were getting destroyed.
"Yes! That's how you do it! That's how it's done!" Coach yelled.
"It was the same for the next person and next. Each in a bit of pain after. No one was getting past them. Until it was Hope and Liam's turn. Hope to have a smaller figure was able to dodge them easily as the crowd cheered. With Liam Scott's mind clouded again and Stiles missed a step and to some people it was luck and to others it was skill.
"That was luck!" Malia complained but quietly.
"I'll say," Kira muttered not meaning for Malia to hear but she did and looked at her.
"I-I mean...you could see one of the boys missed a step so...I-I'm Kira," She said awkwardly putting her hand out to shake.
"Malia, very nice to meet you," Malia said smiling at her. "You're the one who flirted with Scott."
"Oh god," Kira groaned taking back her hand to hide her face. "That wasn't me. I mean it was but Leidian took control and then and neither of us had any control even she regretted it and that's unlike her cause she's so confident in everything and you probably want me to stop ranting now don't you?"
Malia shook her head. "Start from the beginning."
The practice went on and Scott overheard Liam and Hope again.
"Seriously why don't you want to make team captain? You're better than everyone here." Liam said. It made Scott's blood boil again. Of course, Hope deserves to be complimented but not by Liam. When it was Liam's turn again and Scott's minded fogged again.
Liam came and dodged Stiles but not Scott. Scott ran to him and lowered his body and flipped him that he landed on his back that hurt like hell but nothing broke, what did though was his ankle that landed the wrong way and he groaned in pain as the other players and people from the crowd winced. Liam tried to stand up but groaned in pain and Scott and Stiles took off their helmets in shock as the other players rushed towards him.
"Don't move! Don't touch him!" Coach yelled running on the field and the other players backed up.
"I think you overdid it," Isaac whispered.
"I'm okay, Coach. I'm all right." Liam tried to get back up and failed again and Scott and Stiles had to grab him. "Ahhh! I think it's my leg."
"I think we better get him to the nurse," Stiles said and they felt in a hurry.
"You guy's take a lap. Run around... Start running around the field! Stupid!" Coach yelled and threw a ball into the field.
"What'd I miss?" Allison said coming back to her seat without Lydia.
Malia asked turning around from Kira to her friend. "What?"
Parrish was just sitting outside the house where the family was murdered looking through the photos the Sheriff had given him reviewing who could've caused it when he looked up and saw a figure moving in the house. He got out of one of the deputy cars and with a gun in his hand and moved towards the house and slowly opened the door to step inside.
"This is a crime scene," He called out to whoever was listening when Lydia appeared and he lowered his gun and put the safety back on. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"Well, I'm Lydia Martin and I would try to explain it, but...I've never gotten a satisfactory explanation myself." She said.
"Just an unusual habit of showing up at places where people have been brutally murdered?" Parrish asked.
"Are you saying I have a reputation?" Lydia asked facing him.
"An unusual one." He admitted. "Maybe you're psychic."
Lydia chuckled. "Don't tell me you believe all that?"
"I'd like to say I don't believe in anything. But I keep an open mind." Parrish said. "But if you're looking for dead bodies, I think you're a little late."
Lydia paid no attention to the last line and approached a wooden plank that seemed to have screaming faces on it and pressed down on it which revealed a secret room Parrish was speechless and entered it first with Lydia behind him as he pulled the safety off again and pointed his gun ahead. It seemed like some sort of (creepy) basement, but why keep it hidden? Parrish down and on a switch in a room and put away his flashlight that revealed bags that seemed to have something in them hanging above.
"I think it's a game locker. Like venison." Parrish clarified. "Hunting's legal in some parts of the state, but..." He trailed off unzipping one of the bags.
"What is it?"
"It's not venison." He said revealing a dead body that seemed like it had been there for a while.
"Are you sure you don't want to eat something?" Melissa asked Sean as he was lying on the hospital bed.
"Yes." He said turning on his side. He wasn't hungry for normal food.
"Okay." Melissa sighed. "Let me know if you need anything. There's a Deputy standing right outside." She said and left to the room to go back behind the counter and saw Scott and Stiles lifting a boy.
"Uh... Hi, Mom." Scott said and had to explain the situation to her as she got him into a wheelchair after wrapping his ankle.
"Don't worry, Liam. We'll take good care of you." Melissa said trying to convince him as she brought him to a room.
"I got to get going," Stiles said. "I promised my dad I'd bring him lunch." He looked at Scott who had a guilty expression on his face. "Hey, I don't need to say that wasn't your fault, right?"
"I don't know."
"Scott, if you had used any wolf power that kid wouldn't be limping, he'd be crawling, back to the other half of his body." Stiles tried to reason.
"If I hadn't been so jealous about him he wouldn't be hurt either." Scott sighed.
"It's okay to want something for yourself once in a while. Team captain, Alpha werewolf. You're still only human." Stiles said before leaving.
Liam groaned in pain as his stepfather tried t move his ankle but stopped once Liam winced in pain.
"It's broken, isn't it?" Liam asked mournfully.
"It's definitely going to need an X-ray." His stepfather Dr. Greyer tried.
"It's broken. And it's my fault." He said.
"You want to tell me what happened?"
"I went up against two juniors. One of them is captain of the team." Liam said.
"What did I try to tell you?" Hope asked coming into the room with her school bag hanging on her shoulder. "Hi, you must be his stepfather, I'm Hope a friend of Liam's," Hope said.
"Nice to meet you, Hope," He said before a nurse came in and called for him. "I have to go keep him company for me." He said before he got up and left.
"What's that?" Liam asked.
"Just some herbs that'll heal your ankle, nothing that big," Hope shrugged tossing it to Liam who barely caught it.
"For real?" He asked.
"Yep," Hope said. "You forgot I'm not just a werewolf, I'm a witch too. And we witches we know a couple of tricks."
"So what do I have to do to use it? Or do want it back. Cause if this is your only one-"
"It's not my only one. My aunt's own coven of witches of who she trust came up with it about a couple of years back. It's quite easy to make but the ingredients are hard to find so I've stocked some up for emergencies like this one." She explained. "And all you have to do is apply it and leave it to do its magic on the wound, bruise, or broken bones."
"That's it?" Liam asked.
"Yep, the time depends on how big or small the wound is," Hope answered. "Anyways I'm going to visit my mom now," She said and waved bye.
Scott was on his way out to get his mom dinner when his phone rang and picked it up stopping for a bit.
"Hey, Lydia." He greeted over the phone.
"Where are you?" She asked in clear distress, "I couldn't call... I couldn't get away from the deputy."
"Okay, slow down..." Scott said trying to understand.
"You need to get to the hospital. You need to get there right now. The son, the only one who survived...He's there." She said but that didn't clear things up.
"So am I. I'm at the hospital too."
"Then find him. Find Sean Walcott." She said before hanging up, the next thing he knows he's running.
"Sean, are you awake?" Melissa asked coming into the darkroom she was a little confused about where the deputy was but he probably took a break. "The Sheriff's on his way, I'm going to need you to wake up." She said turning on the light to find an empty bed. She heard some noise and approached the other side of the bed to stand in shock at what she was seeing.
"I couldn't help it. I'm so hungry." Sean apologize. I'm just so hungry!" He later said in a demonic voice lifting his head off of the dead deputy's body he was eating with bright white eyes. "I think I'm ready to talk now." He said standing up with his mouth smeared with blood. Melissa made a run for it when he grabbed her almost getting a meal out of her when a roar was made and Sean looked at Scott in his full werewolf self.
Hope froze as she stopped watching her mom. Even her mom's ear twitched in hearing the roar that she had heard last night when it was coming from the school. She snapped her head up, it was coming from three floors above her.
Scott tackled Sean to the hospital floor pushing him and roaring at his face when Sean's strength overpowered him and threw him back into the wall as he ran away.
"I'm okay. I'm all right." Melissa said standing up.
"Are you sure?" Scott asked worriedly.
Melissa nodded. "Go get that son of a bitch."
"Hey!" Liam asked already back to walking. He guesses his ankle was just sprained if it healed that quick in an hour instead of a couple of hours at max if it was broken, but then again it could've been broken and Hope's mixed-up herbs were just that good. "Anyone hear that?" He asked after hearing the bang against the wall. "I thought I heard someone..." Then a boy appeared in front of him with white glowing eyes and his mouth dripping with blood.
"Holy shit!" Liam exclaimed backing up. "I'm going to take a wild guess you're the wendigo I had to research so if you could not kill me-" He got cut off by the wendigo launching at him in which he made a run for the stairs. "Or not!"
He tried to lose him but he was too fast, something he didn't know until recently and suddenly he's hanging on the edge of the hospital roof with the wendigo holding him in place as someone came up.
"Scott?" Liam asked and his eyes widen as he saw his claws and red eyes. "Your the were-" Again he was cut off but by Sean covering his mouth with his hand.
"Hey! you don't have to do this," Whatever you are, please. We can help you," Scott pleaded.
"No you can't," Sean said. "Wendigos don't need help. We need food!" He yelled and was about to start with Liam when Scot pushed them apart attacking Sean to get away but Liam was pushed off of the building and Scott tried to catch him but Sean was making him almost let go. Liam was trying to carry himself on the ledge but the two who were fighting made it impossible to focus.
"I can't hold on!" Liam yelled.
Hope heard all the fighting sounds were coming from the rood and tried to make her way there immediately.
Sean made Scott lose both grips on Liam as he was almost falling off when Scott bite him. He bit him in his arm. He was worried about what Sean might do now but he didn't have to. Because an ax was dug into his spine, and deep that it made Sean die almost instantly. Scott was able to pull Liam up and got a look at what made Sean die. It was a man. Without a man, in its place was just paled skin. He held his finger to where his mouth would've been and left.
But now Scott had a new problem. He looked at Liam who was groaning in pain. He had his arm in his hand where a huge red bite mark was and looked at him in a why question.
Scott had some explaining to do. And he needed to do it quickly, cause he heard some footsteps climbing up the stairs.
