News: I now have a Patr[e]on account, which this profile won't let me link to... just go to the site in question and search for hunter 139. Also, I have an account on Archive of our Own and Space under the same name, so you can find my works there as well. Ok, a little info about myself: Name: Why would I tell you? Age: See above Gender: Male Species: Human, I think I have ADHD, and as you can see below, I have a tendency to ramble on and repeat myself, and I'll try to minimize that in my stories. My favorite movie series: Star Wars, including the prequels (I understand why people dislike them, but I still think they're over hated... I'm going to get a lot of hate mail for saying that, aren't I?) and the original expanded universe, though the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming in a close second. Favorite TV show: Young Justice, which is also home to my favorite pairing (which is odd for me, because I'm not often prone to shipping characters at all): Spitfire; Artemis and Kid Flash. Needless to say, I was furious when Kid Flash was killed (spoilers, btw), and I had already thought of several ways to bring him back 2 hours after I saw that episode. Having said that, there are a lot of stories here that did the job better than mine. Favorite fictional character: It's a tough call but I'd have to say it's a three way tie between Darth Maul from Star Wars (I quite enjoyed the fact that the Clone Wars brought him back), Makuta Teridax from Bionicle and the Gravemind from Halo. Favorite pairings: This is rare for me, since I usually go with canon pairings and I rarely care much about the romantic lives of these characters. However, there are some exceptions. Wally West and Artemis Crock (aka Spitfire) from Young Justice (as mentioned above) Barry Allen and Patty Spivot from the Flash tv series (they were just adorable together) Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy from the Amazing Spider-Man movies (Until her death) Daisy Johnson and Lincoln Campbell (aka StaticQuake) from Agents of SHIELD ( Jaune Arc and Pyrrha Nikos (aka Arkos) from RWBY (Rest In Peace) Aerrow and Piper from the Storm Hawks (I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were dating throughout the show's run) Korra and Asami Sato (aka Korrasami) from Legend of Korra (what's not to love about those two?) Peter Quill and Gamora from MCU Guardians of the Galaxy (they've grown on me) Peter Parker and Michelle "MJ" Jones from the MCU Spider-Man films (tied with below as my favorite. If they break up/are broken up in the third MCU Spider-Man film, I'm gonna be pissed) Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen also from the Flash tv series (Arguably my new favorite. What else can be said about a love that's spanned multiple universes, at least three timelines and outlasted death itself?) Ted Mosby and Tracy McConnell from How I Met Your Mother (Fuck the TV ending, the alternate ending is the canon ending to me. And we still did not get enough time with those two together) Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez from High School Musical (those two are just adorable together, helped by the chemistry their actors shared. Hopefully they didn't break up like their actors did) Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable from the former (I mean, really? What else needs to be said? They've been inseparable for pretty much their entire lives) Alex Chen and Steph Gingrich from Life is Strange: True Colors (Does anything else need to be said) Why I came to this site: I came across some rather good stories here while browsing through TV Tropes (good site, but really addicting) and found a lot of interesting and incredibly well-written fanfiction that drew my eye. I have a lot of ideas in my mind for stories and I want to put them down for others to read. I especially enjoy crossovers in fiction and most of the stories I write will either be part of one massive crossover multiverse or will have the potential to be crossed over into this multiverse (Actually, the idea of the multiverse is my favorite philosophical concept, so expect to see that a lot). In fact this idea has been in my mind for years, Just to be clear though, I intend to have characters, factions, etc, cross over with other universes, with their technology, ideology and characterization fairly intact (though, they're all alternate universes technically speaking, of their originals), not to mention I do have my own original characters and factions (and I have self-inserts of myself more than once). Due to the ongoing nature of some of the franchises I intend to use, expect retcons, though I'll try to keep that to a minimum. I also tend to research as much content as I can before writing, so I usually have a decent idea of what's canon and what isn't. I'm just going to put a disclaimer out here now: I do not own Star Wars, Mass Effect, Metroid, Killzone, the Alien and Predator series, Bionicle, Halo, Red vs. Blue, Young Justice, Dead Space, Half-life, Portal or Titanfall. I'm not sure of I'll end up writing stories with all these franchises, but since they make up the core or core concepts of my Multiverse, I'll put the disclaimer in anyway. My writing strengths I have quite a few ideas on how to connect dozens of different fictional realities into one overarching one, and due to my tendency to research all of these franchises, I know exactly how they work and I have an idea on how they can fit together. I also prefer writing stories and perspectives that are, while not necessarily unimportant, more... inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. My writing weaknesses Even though I have good ideas (sorry if I sound a bit arrogant), I have trouble putting them all down into words, and so my stories tend to feel rushed or devoid of some details, and for that I apologize. I also have trouble writing realistic dialogue (or even dialogue in general), characterization, and the rule of "show, don't tell," which is part of the reason I tend to use the work of others as inspiration on solving these issues. Also due to my ADHD, I tend to jump from story to story quickly, meaning I rarely linger on any specific ideas, before moving on to something else. Because of all that; when I start a story, I actually don't know how I'm going to end it. Fanfiction Things I like Crossovers. If the above hasn't hammered it in enough, I absolutely love crossovers in many of their forms, though I do admit I have my own specific tastes when it comes to what franchise crosses over with what, and how said crossover is done. I especially love Halo/Mass Effect crossovers, and I enjoy seeing how the UNSC almost always trumps the Council and Reapers (technologically speaking), it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I also find enjoyment when superhero franchises cross into SciFi franchises like Mass Effect, Halo and Star Wars, especially when the superhero crosses over into their universe. Things I dislike (aka Ranting time) Having said that, there are quite a few things I'm seeing too much of from such stories. For starters, having one side gain more power or weakening another side for the sake of 'balance.' I get that you don't want the story to end too quickly because that just sucks up all the tension and drama, but if you're going to do something like that, then frankly that just defeats the whole purpose of the crossover; to see how one universe would match up with another. Adding onto that, I'm not a huge fan of fusion fics, where such different stories are set within the same universe, because if both have their original backstories, then it can lead to some confusion. For instance, I mentioned how I'm a huge fan of Halo/Mass Effect crossovers, and I can usually put aside my suspension of disbelief for the sake of the story. However, there's always a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that makes the whole premise rather flimsy. Specifically, how did the Reapers and Forerunners not notice each other? I would have to think that an advanced race such as the Forerunners would notice the systematic extinction of sentient life every fifty thousand years. And I would think the Reapers would have noticed the sudden extinction of all sentient life in the galaxy due to the Flood and the Halos. Now, I can accept that space is massive, and that they weren't infallable and could miss important details (hell, it's happened in the canon of both franchises), but since the Reapers spend the majority of their time in dark space, and the Forerunners built two Arks (which are at least ten times larger than planets) in dark space, I can't help but think that one of them should have noticed the other at that point. As I said though, I can usually suspend my disbelief for those two franchises. For Star Wars/Mass Effect and/or Star Wars/Halo stories, I'm less forgiving if they take place in the same galaxy. Though frankly for all of them, it would be more reasonable for each franchise to take place in a different galaxy, or even a different reality entirely. That being said, I think the whole concept of Master Chief or Noble Six or whoever being transported to Star Wars or Mass Effect and going on a rampage is seriously overdone. I don't necessarily disagree that they would outclass almost everything in the new franchise, but it rarely changes the original story, when in reality, the changes should be rather different from the orginal path of the series. As for what I dislike about superhero/scifi crossovers... where do I even begin? Let's start with my biggest issue with the majority of these types of crossovers on this site (or at least the ones that I've seen): specifically the fact that they usually take place on the superhero's world. Why is this an issue? Well, for starters, it really makes no sense when Master Chief or Commander Shepard or Starkiller or whoever, is the one to get transported back in time or to another reality where superheroes exist. Now, I know these characters are absolute badasses, but Marvel and DC characters tend to be on a completely different level. Even the weak ones like Batman are still more dangerous than these guys, and frankly, Commander Shepard would have little to offer for a collection of physical gods. Plus the circumstances that bring them to that world tend to be ridiculously contrived. Frankly, I'm seeing few crossovers where superheroes end up in the scifi universe. It would be more interesting if more of this happened because A) superheroes regularly deal with interdimensional stuff, so it would make more sense if they were transported and B) they would be able to offer quite a bit to the new universe. Plus it would be really fun to read the reactions of people witnessing true superpowers for the first time. My thoughts regarding the multiverse People say that with an infinite multiverse, one life means nothing. My life means nothing. That’s certainly one way to view it, but I prefer to think of it another way: My life means everything. Everyone’s life means everything. You exist in so many different forms in the multiverse, from an atom to God and everything in between. You have experienced everything. You will experience everything. Pain and agony, love and ecstasy, feelings and sights that you can’t possibly imagine. Yes, not all of it will be good, and yes, you may not be the exact same person in every part of reality. The person that you are, specifically, will never get to experience even a fraction of what the multiverse has to offer. But that doesn’t make your life worthless. It doesn’t make existence meaningless. All that means is that you will experience one piece of the multiverse to the fullest. And even if you never experience it yourself, you can take comfort knowing that every other version of you will go through their own unique life. -OBITUARY FOR THE LATE MR. COMMON SENSE Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and Maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get Parental consent to administer Calpol, sun lotion or a band-aid to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing. RIP We shall remember you. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development.
