Author's Note: Just to let everyone know, this story will take place during the events of Breaking Dawn. FYI, I'm an American author, but I will try to have the Harry Potter characters sound British even though to keep changing accents for the characters may be confusing and tricky, I'll still try to pull it off. I changed Harry's job from being the Head of the Auror Office to just being an Auror because I thought about everyone's ages. The timelines confused me because I know that Harry Potter and Twilight takes place in different years, but I guess for the sake of a crossover, you can ignore that and just focus on the ages. I read somewhere that Harry was the Head of the Auror Office in his late twenties. I wanted Hermione and Bella to be close in age so I will leave a list of every character's ages down below:
Hermione - 19
Harry - 19
Ron - 19
Ginny - 18
Bella - 18
Paul - 17
Jake - 16
Seth - 15
Leah - 21
Emily - 21
Sam - 21
Jared - 17
Quil - 16
Embry - 16
Paul Lahote turned over on his other side in bed and his eyes groggily opened. He saw a gorgeous blonde girl lying in bed next to him and remembered the night they had. A smirk spread on his face at the memory of their nightly activity. He expected for them to have another round early in the morning.
The blonde who he forgot her name woke up as well.
"Hey, beautiful. Have a good night's sleep?" Paul asked, acting sweet for her.
"I did," She snuggled closer to him. "Thanks to you."
"I'm glad you're satisfied," Paul replied being pleased with himself.
"Oh, you sure did that." The random girl giggled.
"Do you want to start round two?" Paul nuzzled at the blonde's neck and gave peppery kisses onto her porcelain skin.
"Maybe. What time is it?" She wondered, letting her eyes drift close, enjoying Paul's lips on her.
"Uh, I don't know, babe. Maybe seven or eight-ish?" He muttered, uncaring.
Suddenly, the woman bolted upright in bed, nearly knocking Paul over. She got out of bed and started to get dressed faster than he would have to escape a girl's house.
"What is it?" Paul asked curiously, not seeing the problem.
"I'm late! I have to pick up my husband from the airport in, like, two hours! He was away for a business meeting!" The woman explained as she gathered her clothes to get dressed and applied makeup at a speed he saw no woman did. They usually took their slow time when putting on makeup.
When she mentioned her 'husband' that got Paul's attention and he panicked. He always slept with random women and didn't know a thing about them. Made empty promises that he'd return their calls, but never did. He did not know a thing about this woman and that she was already married. That freaked him out a lot.
Who knew how many other girls he slept with that were married to someone else?
"Wait a second here. You're husband?" Paul asked incredulously. "You have a husband?"
"Yeah, why do you care?" She gave him a look after she checked herself in the mirror for any minor touch ups she had to fix. "I thought you're the infamous Paul Lahote," Then she made an amused smirk. "Word has it that you have quite the rep in La Push. From what my friends and I heard about you is that you're a manwhore. So, why does it bother you that I am married?"
Paul didn't know why the fact had disturbed him. He just didn't want to be the one to ruin a marriage. What if she had kids? And he would be the one to tear a family apart? No. He would not have that on his conscience.
Maybe the pack was right that he should slow down and wait for his imprint.
If he'd ever had one...that was the problem...
"Besides, just because I'm married doesn't mean I can't have any fun once in a while. I mean, do you even know my name, Paul?" She put more emphasis on his name because she did know his.
"No..." He admitted softly being a bit ashamed of himself which was new. He'd usually mess up a girl's name or forgot or just didn't care what it was.
"See? So, it's all good and we can forget about each other," She seemed rather relieved and grabbed her purse and jacket. "Well, I had a nice time. Thanks for the fun. Too bad we can't do it next time, huh?"
The blonde girl left his bedroom leaving Paul dumbfounded at what happened. He just slept with a married woman. A mistake that he would never make again.
He was actually tired and exhausted of having the same one night stands with no real connection or love. There was no point with the many women he had. He desired to have a relationship like Sam and Emily's. That had an overabundance of love radiating out of them.
Paul just needed to find the right woman and imprint on her.
He was totally done with meaningless one night stands.
Since there was no round two that he was looking forward to, Paul supposed he should go to Sam and Emily's house early. Which was lame. It'd be some 'important' pack meeting. He went to their house in his wolf form because his wolf speed was faster than his own car.
When he finally arrived at their house, he phased to human and grabbed a pair of shorts that was out at the back of the house for his brothers and sister. The shorts were in a box for them and also feminine shirts that were for Leah, the only female wolf, to change into.
Paul changed and entered the house using the back sliding door. He walked into the living room and saw most of the pack members. Minus someone else that was missing.
"Thank you for joining us, Paul, for our seven o'clock meeting." Sam sarcastically greeted because it was way past seven and it was now somewhere around eight.
"Where were you?" Seth wondered.
"I don't think you'd want to know what Paulie has been up to, Seth," Jared smirked. "He can get frisky during the nights if you know what I mean. Obviously, a girl made him late."
Seth was confused because he didn't know what Jared meant. Leah glared at the older wolf for perverting her little brother's mind. As if Seth didn't suffer enough from the pack mind and their dirty thoughts.
"Who was she?" Quil eagerly asked and Paul gave him a look.
"I don't know her name, but I do know she's married," Paul answered nonchalantly. "She wasn't from here, but from one of the towns."
"Really, Paul?" Emily frowned in disapproval. She stood close to her imprint's side. Sam had his arm wrapped around her waist, keeping her close to him. "You slept with a married woman?"
"I didn't know she was married!" Paul angrily exclaimed in his defense. "I wouldn't have slept with her if she was."
"So, this is your first time sleeping with a married woman? I'm shocked." Leah teased and Paul glared at her, but she wasn't intimidated.
"I don't know half of the women I slept with and who knows if they were married, have boyfriends, or not? Or worse, if she had kids with her husband?" Paul shook his head. "I can't keep doing this again."
"Maybe this was a wake up call for you to slow down and wait for your imprint, Paul," Sam told him.
"You're right. I guess I really do need to wait for my imprint. As if I'll imprint on anyone."
"May the Spirits have mercy on her soul if you do." Quil laughed and Paul glared harder at him.
"Anyway, where's baby Alpha?" Paul asked in derision. "Shouldn't he be joining us, too?"
"Well, that's why we're having this meeting, Paul," Sam replied in his deep timbre.
"What? To talk about why he isn't here?" Paul hated that just because Jacob Black was the future Alpha meant that he was always the center of attention and the top priority.
"That and to talk about Bella and Edward getting married." He answered, trying not to lose his temper with the hot-head of the pack.
"Jake needed a run to blow it off," Quil clarified to Paul. "I get why he's pissed. I'd be too."
"So, the leech lover is going to marry the walking dead. Do you think she's going to become one of them?" That made Paul want to laugh at the ridiculous notion.
"Haven't you seen Jake's mind that's about his and Bella's conversation?" Embry asked him with a raised eyebrow because of how much they spent inside the pack as wolves. "Bella totally wants to be a vampire. Sounds like her mind is pretty much made up."
"It would be the worst decision she ever made," Leah said with disgust. "She's so inconsiderate of Jake's feelings and is just toying with him! He's too blind about the truth of her."
"Awww, I think someone may have a crush on ole' Jakey boy." Paul teased.
"Shut up, Paul!" Leah scowled at him.
"Enough, you two!" Sam ordered and the two wolves quickly obeyed him. "Now if Bella does get changed by Edward or one of them, she will need to follow and respect the treaty rules. We'll treat her no differently than we do to the others. Jake told us she wants to get changed someday and Edward promised he will do that."
The pack had expressed their disapprobation at Bella's absurd choice. There were even some different sides. Some rather have Bella stay as a human and the others wanted Bella to become a leech because she would be their enemy. Paul was on that side of the argument and couldn't understand Bella Swan for the life of him.
"I know not many of you like it, but that just maybe Bella's fate. We should've expected this to come. Bella and Edward have been together for a while now so it would be natural for her to want to become a part of them."
"There's nothing natural at all about that," Paul sneered. "Anyway, what about Jake? Where does he fit into all of this?"
"He ran because of the issue with Bella," Sam answered. "Her getting married to Edward and becoming one of them. We need to find him, but that doesn't take away any one of your patrolling duties."
"Great," Paul groaned, rolling his eyes. "So, we're basically playing hide and seek with him?"
"We just need to find our brother and bring him back home. Not just for the pack, but for Billy's sake, too. He's worried."
Paul didn't want to play the hide and seek game with Jake but would find him for Billy's sake. "Fine," He grumbled with his arms crossed. "We'll find the cry baby."
Like most wizards and witches, Hermione wasn't a fan of Apparition because of how the transportation made her felt constricted and nauseous. She believed it was best to travel to Harry's flat using the Floo Network.
Harry could've spent his fortunes on a nice house for himself, but he decided to wait on that purchase for his future family. Hermione suggested he could renovate Number Twelve Grimmauld Place or the Potter Cottage where his parents used to live with him as a baby. But Harry didn't want to live at any of those places, especially not at his old babyhood home so he wouldn't be reminded of what happened every Halloween. He wasn't a fan of Grimmauld Place, but the only interest he took in that was Sirius's old bedroom, that was nothing it. Sirius himself said that it wasn't a happy home and Harry wouldn't be welcomed there because of Sirius's mother who was inside a portrait.
His flat was a million times better than living with the Dursley's so Harry was satisfied and proud of himself for having his own place. Hermione felt the same way for him.
Ron tried to get his place once but still lived with his family. Ever since the war was over and after Fred's death, his mother, Molly, wanted all of her children together in her nest where she could see and tend to everyone. Molly even cried when Harry moved out of the Burrow so she would definitely be a sobbing mess when more of her own children moved out like Bill, Charlie, and George had. Only Ron and Ginny lived at the Burrow with their parents.
Hermione grabbed a small drawstring pouch that she kept safely inside her bedroom and went to the living room for the fireplace. Her parents weren't home, but they've seen her use the Floo before. She grabbed a handful of glittery green powder and she tossed it into the flames. The yellow-orange flames changed into green and that's when Hermione clearly spoke her destination.
"Harry Potter's flat!" Then she stepped into the blazing fireplace and saw the world around her spin.
After waiting for Harry's flat to appear, it did and she clambered out of the fire and wiped off her clothes.
Harry's flat was small, but it was just perfect for him since he's the only one living there. Also, it was close to the Ministry of Magic for his work.
"Hello, Hermione!" Ginny was the first to greet her in the living room area. Hermione saw Harry cooking away in the kitchen.
"Hello, Ginny!" She hugged the youngest redhead of the Weasley family. "It's so good to see you again!"
"Hello, Hermione." Said a familiar male voice that she knew too well.
Hermione slowly let go of Ginny and saw Ron coming out of the kitchen.
"Hello, Ron." She softly greeted him, but neither of them shared an embrace like his little sister. It wasn't exactly awkward seeing him again, but it wasn't exactly comfortable either to be around Ron just yet. Hermione knew she couldn't avoid him completely out of her life.
"My cousin, Bella, just wrote to me and said hi to you and Harry." Hermione casually started a conversation.
"Who's Bella again?" Ron asked cluelessly, making Hermione sigh and Ginny rolled her eyes.
"Isabella Swan, my cousin from Forks, Washington." Hermione impatiently explained because she knew she told him before, but he never listened or cared.
"It'll be lovely to go visit the States sometime," Ginny said, but Hermione was sure that was for her benefit so an argument wouldn't happen that Ron forgot something. "I've always wanted to visit New York City. A few girls from the team had been there and it sounds like loads of fun."
Ginny was a Chaser for the Holyhead Harpies and that was how she got the information.
"What's New York City like?" Ron asked and went to sit down on the couch. Which gave relief to Hermione and she was thankful for Ginny's distraction.
"Think of London, but dirtier and with more people."
Harry came out of the kitchen to announce. "Dinner will be ready in about ten minutes - oh, hello, Hermione."
"Hello, Harry." Hermione friendly smiled at him and he returned one of his own at her then went back to the kitchen.
"Would you like help setting up the table, Harry?" Ginny offered.
"Sure, Gin," Harry answered. "You know where everything is, don't you?"
"Yeah. Care to get the drinks, Hermione? At least we're able to help with something. I asked Harry earlier if I could help him cook anything, but he still doesn't trust me with the stove ever since I accidentally overcooked the noodles."
"And there was that time you got a stovetop on fire and you used the Aguamenti Charm to put it out." Ron teased.
He and Hermione laughed at Ginny's expense for her lack of cooking skills. She may not be like her mother in the kitchen, but she was still practicing.
Hermione was glad she could laugh freely like that with Ron again after everything that happened between them. Maybe things could get back to normal again.
"I'll be sure to remember your comment the next time I cook for you, Ron. I'll spit on it. I hear saliva really enhances the flavor."
After Ginny set the table and Hermione got water for everyone, they finally ate Harry's dinner. The four of them got caught up on each other.
The Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes was booming. More Death Eaters have been caught. Holyhead Harpies had a Quidditch match coming up soon.
"What have you been up to, Hermione?" Ginny asked her while they ate Harry's delicious cooking.
"I'm going to my cousin's wedding. Her fiancé gave me a First Class ticket."
"Oh, wow. Aren't those tickets expensive?" Harry asked. He already knew about Muggle transportation, unlike Ron and Ginny.
"Yes, but Bella told me his family was quite wealthy so he could easily afford it. He even got me two plane tickets for First Class if I wanted to bring a date."
"Are you going to bring a date?" Ginny was curious with a suggestive wiggle of her eyebrows along with a smirk.
"Well, yes, and Harry, I hope you don't mind me asking, but can you come to my cousin's wedding with me?" Hermione eagerly asked him. "If you're not too terribly busy."
Before Harry could answer, Ron got a bit offended. "You're seriously asking Harry? Why not me? I know we broke up, Hermione, but that doesn't mean we still can't go as friends."
Hermione was nervous that Ron wouldn't take it so well.
"I just thought it'd be better to have Harry go with me than my ex-boyfriend, that's all," Hermione replied in her defense.
"Right," Ron retorted sarcastically with a biting edge. "Wouldn't want to dance with me when a slow song comes on."
"Honestly, Ronald!" Ginny scolded him, but he ignored her.
"Or show me off to your cousin?"
Hermione got annoyed and narrowed her eyes down at him. "Bella was rather looking forward to meeting you, actually. This is why I didn't want to take you because I know how we'll act. I don't want us to start any fights on Bella's big day and possibly ruin it."
Ron just sulked in his seat and continued to eat.
After that argument got settled, Harry thought it was safe to answer.
"Erm, I'll go with you, Mione, thanks for asking," She was relieved that he accepted it, but then he also looked at Ron for assurance. "If that's okay with you."
"Whatever." He sourly grumbled.
Ginny stared at her brother with immense disapproval and shook her head before she started to serve herself some more food. Hermione ignored her ex's bitter attitude.
"We can go dress shopping in London to blend in with the other Muggles in Washington," She figured. "I was hoping to be there at least two weeks to spend with Bella before she goes to her honeymoon and with Uncle Charlie."
"Alright. I'll just have to take the time off and change my schedule around."
"When is your cousin getting married?" Ginny wondered.
"Thirteenth of August. We have a short time to get ready and prepared."
Hermione made a mental note to write back to Bella and give her updates. About how long she'll stay, the hotel, her date, and other things.
She was excited to see her cousin again.
Weeks later, there were no signs of Jacob Black, but they did find him somewhere up in northern Canada. The pack couldn't communicate with him well because he was too much in wolf mode. Jake tried to not think like a human, he closed himself off from the pack. But they knew he still heard them. The urgent and demanding voices of trying to get him to return home.
But it was of no use.
After returning to La Push, the pack hung out at Sam and Emily's as usual. Seth wasn't on the Jake search because he had to deal with something at home. He was the last to arrive at his Alpha's house.
"What took you so long to get here?" Leah asked her little brother.
"Nice to see you, too, sis," Seth casually said then got a little bit nervous in front of her. "Well, uh...heh, we got invited to Bella's wedding that's in a few days and-"
"You're not going." Leah had forbidden it making her brother disappointed.
"What? Oh, come on, Lee," He protested. "I know you're not the biggest fan of Bella's right now-"
"Try since forever, Seth."
"But it was cool of her to do that despite...everything. Mom wants to go and I'll go with her. You don't even have to go."
"Good. I won't." Leah said coldly, but her anger wasn't directed at him. Not entirely. It was mostly to Bella. She was a bit annoyed and angry that her brother didn't seem to understand the bigger issue between the pack, Bella, and the vampires. He'd rather be friends with all of them and live in peace and harmony.
Well, that was just a fairy tale.
"Okay then." Seth settled their little argument.
"You're seriously going to a leech's wedding?" Jared asked him.
"Yeah. I'm friends with Edward and shouldn't that be a good thing?"
"No." The rest of the pack answered bluntly making Seth frown and his shoulders slumped at his crushed hopes that enemies could be converted to friends.
"Quit it with the vamp talk, alright?" Paul asked, chewing on his fourth blueberry muffin. "Or I'm going to lose my appetite."
"Really? I didn't think that was possible with you wolves." Emily joked, an amused smile was on her beautifully scarred face.
"Hah, hah..." Paul dryly said, rolling his eyes. He looked at the youngest pack member who was eating his first muffin.
"You're an idiot for going to that stupid wedding."
"No, I'm not," Seth disagreed. "At least Bella and Edward still like me and I can take care of myself and anyone else if something happens."
The pack still didn't like or approved that the youngest brother was going, but couldn't put up any more protests or arguments. Seth was going whether they liked it or not and they knew Billy got an invite, too, and he planned to go as well.
"Man, it's just not the same without Jake around." Quil mourned to Embry, missing their third trio member.
"Yeah, I know what you mean, man." Embry sadly agreed, looking forlorn at the thought.
"Remember all the times we've hung out in his garage?"
"Yeah, and remember the time when you guys fought as wolves and he totally kicked your ass?"
"He did not kick my ass, Embry."
"Yeah, he did, Quil."
"Glad someone misses me."
Every pack member whipped their heads around at the voice and was shocked at the return of Jacob Black.
Author's Note: Thank you for the three reviews. I meant to have a "brief" explanation of Hermione's background story for the first chapter. I tend to over share too much in the beginning of chapters because I wanted the info to be revealed in the future chapters. As much as I appreciate the three who reviewed, I had a whopping number of people who put this story onto their alters and favorites and I was really amazed at how fast the numbers were so thank you very much for that. But I also would really like more reviews even if it's something short and simple, that's okay. Sorry if I may sound too greedy, but the reviews encourage me to write more than anything. Anyway, hope you enjoy this second chapter. :)
