Give me life
Summary: Falling through the Veil was never Harry's intention. He just wanted to save his Godfather. Now he had to reinvent his life; because travelling a hundred years into the future had never been a part of the plan.
Warning: PTSD recovery, a lot of hurt and comfort in the first few chapter probably.
A/N: Harry and co travelled to the Department of Mysteries around the 20th of June. The Hosu incident probably happened around the end of May. But Harry travelled 100 years to the future so who cares if he lives through May again… I also couldn't find the year in which it all happened, just that the starting line is when Izuku is 15, 16 when he enters U.A (if I have that right. Is birthday is in July so…). I made the first Quirk baby appear in 2000.
Chapter 1
Everything had gone wrong. Why had his friends agreed to come? Why had he let them? He should have been a better liar. If only Ron and Hermione hadn't known him so well… if only Neville and Luna and Ginny hadn't been there to follow them. They were injured because of him. They were fighting and risking their lives because he had been stupid enough to believe in the things Voldemort had shown him.
"Harry, we should get going," Neville insisted, pulling at his sleeve. "Dumbledore will be here soon. The grownups can take care of themselves. We need to go!"
Harry agreed with Neville, but neither moved. They were frozen as they watched Bellatrix and Sirius battle. "I need to help him," Harry muttered as he watched the scene unfold. Sirius deflected another hex, but he was stumbling towards the muttering Veil. "I need to help him!"
His feet were already taking him to the battle, running and dodging, returning with a stinging hex or a stunner. His vision narrowed, and his breathing deepened. The wounds that stung were pushed to the back of his mind. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice. He would safe Sirius and get them all to safety. The Death Eaters wouldn't win!
Harry threw himself in the way of the curse that had threatened to push Sirius into the Veil. He could see startled grey eyes widen and hear his name echo through the Death chamber. Twisting like an elegant dancer, Harry pushed Sirius away from the mysterious Veil. The voices stilled for a moment as Harry focused on Bellatrix. The woman laughed but did not notice the approaching stunner from behind. Harry cried out to his magic, his determination to help his Godfather created a blast of energy which launched itself to the woman. Her startled eyes as she was hit by two bits of magic was the last thing Harry saw before he fell backwards, the blast of magic effectively pushing him through the Veil.
His forehead burned and his body tore apart, he couldn't even breathe through the pain. As he floated through the darkness, his mouth open in a silent scream, Harry's body burned…
…1996…
When Harry opened his eyes again, the world was burning. Smoke filled the air, people were screaming and monsters were roaring. The heat of the fire caused Harry's skin to tingle pleasantly. His vision narrowed again when he saw the monsters break up the street. There were people with strange abilities trying to keep people safe. People with abilities that reminded Harry of magic, and yet not at all. Everyone was moving in slow motion, and as Harry watched the scene unfold he saw people trying to defeat the monster. They were losing. They needed help.
A child was crying.
Harry breathed in and the world resumed it's normal speed. He could hear people shouting and pointing, crying and giving orders. The monster had noticed him, standing in the middle of the street. On instinct Harry pushed his magic towards his arms and red energy waves shot from his fingers to bind the monster.
Another shout as Harry struggled to hold the monster, the bindings leaving clear markings on its skin. "He's got him," someone shouted to Harry's left.
"Not for long," Harry shouted back and could feel his magic draining. The monster was strong, pulling and screaming and struggling in the bindings. Its skin was pulsing underneath the bindings, bubbling like it was trying to shift or expand its very muscles.
Just as another man appeared, this one covered in flames, Harry's restrains snapped. The man was quick to react, burning the monster's head off. Just as Harry thought that the fight was over another monster appeared. This one was flying away, leaving destruction in its wake.
"Quick, follow it," someone cried but Harry was already running, pushing his legs faster than he ever had before. He could feel the flame man following, the fire heating his bare back. The monster was quick, it's batwings making him faster than the two of them could run. Harry's bare feet were slapping against the pavement, getting cut by shattered glass and debris but he couldn't stop. Not yet. Not when that monster could still hurt others. Not when he still needed to save his friends and family. Not when everyone was still waiting for him.
"This way," the flame man called suddenly and turned towards an ally Harry had missed. Harry blinked in surprise, having nearly forgotten that the man had been there.
"Get down!"
"Midorya!"
The shout echoed through the alley and Harry's vision narrowed again. Faster, he needed to go faster! Someone was in trouble. Someone needed help. Sirius!
"What are you all standing around for!" the flame man shouted. "One of the villains came this way."
"ENDEAVOUR!"
"Hero Killer!"
But Harry noticed how the killer had killed the monster, standing next to a green haired boy who seemed frozen on the ground. The boy stared up at the killer in fear, but the man had only eyes for the flame man next to Harry. No one moved as the killer seemed to move towards them. Harry searched with his eyes for an opening until the world trembled.
"If I don't fix it…" the killer hissed, his voice filling the street even if he was barely breathing. "If someone isn't… stained with blood…"
The others seemed frozen in fear or awe. It looked strange to Harry; they were all wearing some form of hero suit. The ones Batman or Superman wore. Harry remembered every detail of the toys he was allowed to play with, but also the toys Dudley had broken and stuffed in the second bedroom. Even the old man was wearing one.
"If I don't reclaim my hero status…!"
"You won't be anyone's hero if you behave like a killer," Harry said, drawing attention to himself and effectively breaking through the oppressive air. "Hero's are there to help others, to save them when they need to. They are there to make sure innocents don't get killed, to make sure people smile and live without fear."
The killer looked at Harry as if he had just noticed him for the first time. They stared at one another as if trying to remember the other for future reference. The man took a step forward before he suddenly froze, his eyes blank, his face even paler than before.
Flame man moved forward, his bright blue eyes focused on the killer. "He… he's out cold."
A sigh of relief went through the group, especially through the teens. They appeared the most injured. The last two standing sank to their knees, landing inelegantly on the sidewalk.
"Are you alright Midoriya?" someone asked and the kid with the green hair gave a wobbly wave. He was clearly wounded but appeared healthy enough. "Good," the old man said as he turned towards Harry. "And now, who are you?"
...?...
Fortunately Harry didn't have to answer as the police and paramedics arrived at that point. The police only questioned him a little before allowing for his transport to hospital. It was only later when Harry was recovering in bed that he realised he couldn't read any of the signs. Not everything was in the strange symbols, but the Wards were odd. Named after people or cities he didn't know. Some of the cities he recognised from Geography in Primary school, but he was sure they were on the other side of the world.
"Sir?"
Harry turned to look at the nurse who had just entered the room. She had small horns growing out of either side of the forehead and her ears were slightly pointed.
"W-where… am I?" Harry asked, staring at her with fear in his eyes. Appearing naked on the street in the middle of a fight was one thing. Being on the other side of the world, far away from everything and everyone he knew was a whole other story. How could he safe Sirius and his friends now? What about Voldemort and his Death Eaters? What about Dumbledore and the Order? What was going to happen to…
An electric shot buzzed through his body, halting his thoughts and forced him to take a deep breath. His ears were ringing and there were spots before his eyes, but he could faintly hear the nurse talking to him, a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"There you are. Come back to me sir. Deep breaths, deep breaths," she spoke softly but clearly. There was electricity clear in her eyes and as Harry looked at her, he saw her power shining in her eyes. It wasn't magic, that was clear, but what is it?
"Don't you know what a Quirk is?" the nurse asked him, surprise clear in her tone of voice. "Where are you from?"
"Britain," Harry muttered.
"But you have Hero's there as well," the nurse said. "My father used to be a big fan of Football and Sherlock."
Harry frowned, not really understanding. "You look a little young to have known them though," the nurse continued. "They had appeared right around the beginning, when the first Villains showed up in Britain. But I'm sure they would still be popular today." She looked at Harry thoughtfully but the boy wizard could only remember the sport and the famous detective Aunt Petunia lined her bookshelves with. The classics she had called them with reverence and a twinkle in her eyes.
"- of course when All Might showed up, more heroes appeared around the world. All aspiring to be just like him. I'm sure you will become a great one as well. The way you helped those heroes when the Nomu attacked, like a natural born hero." And she looked at him expectantly before she seemed to remember who she was and why she was in his room.
There was a soft knock on the door and after the nurse called 'enter' two police officers entered the room. This time there was a man Harry had spoken to before, and a man with the head of a dog. Tsukauchi, the detective Harry had spoken to before, introduced the dogman as Tsuragamae Kenji, the chief of police.
"It seems there was another child without a hero licence who used his Quirk in public," the chief of police began, ending his sentence with a bark of all things. "This one isn't protected by schools or teachers and even appeared in the end footage of the news. The public is wondering who this child is, appearing bleeding and naked on a large scale Villain attack. Asking for answers from the police and schools, but after a DNA test nothing came up. Not even a distant relative. It is like every family member you had disappeared in 1996 in a large scale Villain attack. Which makes me wonder, Harry James Potter, just who you are."
…2100…
A/N: another one, but this one to apologise in advance. I start this story after a five and a half year Hiatus. I finally have the will to write again, but that doesn't mean it will all go smoothly. As for now… Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!
