Hey guys and girls.

Welcome back to a new chapter for The Reaper Of Knightmares.

So sorry for not updating sooner. I have recently gotten a job as an IT Consultant.

And the work is a lot. So much so that I end up getting home at 5 in the afternoon. By the time I get home I am exhausted. Don't worry. My two children are in the hands of a friend when I go out for work. Myself and Melissa pay her to look after our two children. I am not putting my son and daughter in the hands of someone who may be positive. Not with the third wave on the loose. Don't worry. The person went for the test. She is negative. And the area we live in with her is a low risk profile.

I told her to ensure that if anything happens, she must contact myself and Melissa. I am not taking any chances. Not with the health and safety of my children at stake.

Anyways. The last place we left off was where Naruto had told Cornelia and her scientists the true story about why he is what he is. But there seems to be a vendetta that Naruto has. And it seems to be against the very weapon he once wielded against the very gods long ago.

What will happen to him now?

Also this chapter has been renamed.

Enjoy.

Disclaimers: I own nothing.

Chapter 3: Comfort And Nightmares.

Tossing and turning in her bed, Cornelia groaned in anguish as she heard the screams and pleas of the people within her dreams. Finding herself standing atop a building, watching a village burning as people struggled to contain the blaze but to no avail.

People charred and crisp as their smoking flesh filled the air. Looking to her left she saw what could be a mansion also a blaze. Blinking she found herself instantly teleported to the location at the master bedroom.

Blood pooled around the floor as a lone woman could be seen knelt down as she cried her eyes out as she cradled a body within her arms. Looking to see what she was holding within her arms, Cornelia reeled back in fright and fear as she saw a deformed and very mangled looking child in the woman's arms. A knife resting deep within the infant's chest.

"Mommy is sorry. Mommy is truly sorry." wailed the woman.

Taking a good look at the woman, Cornelia found her to be something like a priestess. A kimono hung over her body but was now blood soaked. Platinum blonde hair draping over her as her purple eyes were blooshot from the tears she had shed.

"This is my own fault. I should never have accepted that deal. I should never have turned my back on him. I should never have done what I did." she sobbed.

The room instantly grew dark as a shadow flowed into the room and blocked out almost all light in the area. The shadow itself was filled with malice and hatred. So much rage was filled within this one being that Cornelia shivered from the very presence.

Then, as a ghost in the night. A being emerged from the shadows. His face obscured from the hood he wore as the shadows came together to form a vicious and sinister looking scythe. Black vapour flowed off the scythe as the being made his way to the kneeling woman. The blood on the ground moving out the way as if it knew who to show mercy towards.

"Hello, wife." bellowed the being as he gazed upon the woman with absolute rage.

"I didn't mean for this to happen. I...I...Please. Forgive me." she begged as she looked at the being still clutching her deformed child.

"Your own hubris led to this moment that will be forever etched within your soul. Your own pride brought this very downfall that you see before you. Your own self-loathing caused this." growled the being as he slowly raised the scythe.

At that instant Cornelia found herself in the position of the woman. Gazing upon the being as it stared at her with hatred fueled eyes. Bloodlust and power raged deep within the person. The desire to punish the wicked was absolute within him.

"Please...Don't do this. I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't mean to betray you. Please. Spare my life. I will cherish you and honour you. I will always stay by your side and never commit adultery again. What I did to our child was wrong of me. I realize that now. Please, don't kill me. Please...Naruto." cried the woman through Cornelia's mouth.

Widening her eyes, Cornelia couldn't comprehend what she just heard come out of her mouth through another's voice. Did she just say the name of the deity she entered a contract with?

"Too late for that, Shion. You did this to yourself and you yourself brought this curse upon the very people you swore to protect. You are nothing more than a gnat to me. A nuisance. A common whore that sold out her own family for another in the ambition of your own pride and status." growled the being as a flash of lightning was seen. Illuminating the room showing Cornelia. Just a few seconds of full clarity and view of the person before her.

It was Naruto. But he looked different. His platinum blonde hair that she knew him to have was now a darkened black. Sickly black veins run under his eyes. His sclera was full black as his iris were an evil red with a glowing yellow pupiled slit. The hood he wore covered the majority of his body but she could make out that he was not wearing a shirt underneath it. Black pants and black shoes accompanied his look.

In one smooth swing only an artist painting his masterpiece could perform, Naruto loosed the scythe as it sailed through the air with deadlt accuracy. Severing the head of the woman with Cornelia believing it was her own head that was rolling off her neck.

Surging to be awake. Cornelia screamed on the top of her lungs at how the dream clearly shook her to the core. At the very second, Naruto phased through the wall and was instantly next to Cornelia. Gently laying a hand on her shoulder as he gently rubbed said shoulder, Naruto spoke.

"My wife. What's wrong?" spoke the deity in such soothing words.

Jolting her shoulder out of Naruto's hand, Cornelia gazed upon the face of death with fright and fear. That dream clearly shook her to the core. Seeing how merciless Naruto could be was something out of a nightmarish vision.

"Monster." she whispered as she looked to the man she was in a contract with.

Widening his eyes slightly for a few seconds that went unnoticed by Cornelia, Naruto coughed into his hand.

"What do you mean, wife?" he inquired. "What do you mean by, monster?"

"I...I had a dream. A vision." spoke Cornelia holding herself as she slowly steadied herself. "I saw a village. It was burning. People screamed in pain as they tried in vain to control the rampaging flames. I then found myself in a mansion. I saw...a...a woman. She was holding an infant. But it was horribly deformed. Mangled. It didn't even look human. And then...I saw...you."

Looking to Naruto on the verge of tears, Cornelia began to shiver in fear as she felt as if her will itself was getting crushed by the shadow of the abyss.

"You...you killed her. Sliced her head clean off as if she was nothing more than an ant beneath your feet. A woman by the name of...Shion." concluded Cornelia with Naruto showing he was unphased by what she just said.

After a few gut wrenching seconds, Naruto spoke.

"Cornelia, my darling wife. It was nothing more than a dream. Sometimes the pain you have experienced and my own past may entwine like it did. Sometimes the pain will create a combined dream that will cause you to have a nightmare much like the one you just did. There is nothing to fear. You are safe. You are protected. After all, you are now immortal thanks to the contract. Meaning you cannot die. But I still wouldn't like to see you killed. You are precious to me. And I would do anything to see you smile." spoke Naruto drawing Cornelia near to him followed by a warm and loving embrace.

Listening to the non-existent heartbeat he had, Cornelia soon found herself believing his words and calming down. She felt safe within his arms. Something she had never experienced with someone before. Many people tried to court her, but none truly caught her eyes. And here she was, in an awkward relationship with Naruto where she didn't refer to him as a lover or anything intimate. But she felt that she could see herself living a peaceful life with him. Smiling as she placed an arm on his own, she closed her eyes and sighed at how she felt better.

But for Naruto, he didn't look anything like what Cornelia was feeling. What Cornelia stated was right on the mark. Shion was one of his first loves. She was also the first woman to carry something Naruto held dear to him. And she betrayed everything he did for her. What Cornelia witnessed wasn't a dream. It was the past. A past he knew would still haunt him, until he made it right. The wrong doings he was falsely accused of. The inheritance he worked so hard for, stripped from him for the sake of a traitor.

He would get his revenge soon enough. He just didn't want to see Cornelia bear witness to his own selfish rage of revenge.

And scene.

So Cornelia has just had a vision regarding Naruto's past. This has clearly shaken her to a very large degree. Telling Naruto about it, she is told that his pain and her pain overlapped and created the dream she experienced.

Deciding to follow Naruto's words, she agrees and soon feels her troubles slip away. But Naruto was clearly upset about this. The dream she had was his own past. A memory of Naruto's past where he went on a rampage.

Will this tear the relationship apart? Or will Naruto find a way to hide it from Cornelia?

Only time will tell.
