3rd POV

"You had the Doppelgänger?" Klaus asks, his voice ringing loudly through Elijah's cell while the hybrid in question seethes.

Elijah sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. "That is what I said Niklaus. What I don't understand is how you know that I had her."

There's a pause through the line, but only for a second. "She called me, which is why I've been trying to call you for the last month." He settles with telling his brother bluntly and angrily. "It's interesting that she called me, with your cellphone might I add. It was - unexpected to say the least. Apparently you had kidnapped her."

"Well, she had blocked your number Niklaus. Yes I had kidnapped her, then I let her go." Elijah says sternly feeling agitated. "And now I cannot seem to find her. She is not dead, nor could she have backed out from our deal otherwise the contract would have turned to ash."

Not to mention one of them would be burning to death right now, or burning for eternity. He won't tell Nik that though.

Klaus lets out a dark chuckle. "Dear brother, she's a Petrova. Who knows what she's done. I'm on my way to Mystic Falls as it is, then we shall see where my little doppelgänger has gone. She won't get away for me. Not this time."

"And a part of me fears for her simply because of that." Elijah replies with a roll of his eyes. Well, that and he somewhat fears Nik just outright killing the wild girl.

"Oh please." Nik says with a posh huff "spare me the Nobel talk brother. This is something I've been wanting to achieve for centuries. Your witches will even get to see their daughter."

"According to her, the doppelgänger - I am not so Nobel. I am more like a Jinn." Elijah says in defense of himself wondering if that's even a good argument.

When he hears his half brother burst into laughter, genuine laughter (when it doesn't include torturing someone) for the first time in such a long time that he almost believes that he can deal with the humiliation.

"Now brother." Klaus says through a throaty chuckle. "It seems someone has caught onto your game of wordplay. If only it wasn't the Doppelgänger. She did seem interesting enough during her call. Such a shame."

"She was - is, unusual." Elijah admits and lets out an awkward cough.

"Then why did you let her escape?"

"I didn't. My plan was for her to stay with her family until the ritual. It was odd that she did not want to leave though."

"She wanted to stay and you still let her go?" Klaus asks curiously and almost scandalized. "What exactly did this contract you concocted entail brother?"

"I didn't write it. She did. As I said, I had intended to return her and she could have stayed there until it was time."

"How many loopholes did she have?" Klaus asks his older brother boredly. He's pretty sure that he can feel a headache right now.

"None. It was nearly ironclad, as if she had multiple lawyers look it over. Which I know she didn't. Then, do you know what she did?" Elijah asks his violent half brother, not giving him time to reply he continues on. "She had my witches make the contract unbreakable with use of their magic and our blood."

"You just let her put you into a blood contract?" The hybrid asks as he shakes his head at the audacity of his older brother. "How could you be so stupid? Caught within the Petrova claws already dear brother?"

"It's an ironclad agreement as I already informed you. If she goes against it of her own free will then she burns to death. I however, will also if I happen to breech the contract."

"And what of the loopholes?" Klaus asks him again skeptically.

Elijah sighs and shakes his head, even though Niklaus can't see it through the phone. "None. I made sure of it as I said. I was even able to add some beneficial edits to it, with her agreement. What I know for certain, from my witches is that she still remains within Mystic Falls. The most likely location for her seems to be at the Salvatore Boarding House."

There's another short pause. "Well dear brother." Klaus comments smoothly, his tone sharp. "It's a good thing that I'm on my way there now, you won't be seeing me of course."

"And what of our siblings?" Elijah demands his brother sternly.

"They are safe." The hybrid says in annoyance.

"Wake them Niklaus." He orders him darkly. "Or I swear. ."

Then Klaus abruptly hangs up his phone, cutting his older brother off. He doesn't want to hear it. He can't have them interfering with this. Not now, not when he's so close and with a doppelgänger who is curiously ready to hand herself right on over to him. Now, he must begin researching so that he can find her or at the very least her friends and a close one to take over.

--

I was sitting in my designated cell, boredom was the main thing that I was feeling aside from cold, so, so cold. To be honest, I'm not sure how many days it's been now. They bring me food, I eat and then I go back to sleep.

The necklace with the vervain in it has remained in my pocket for safe keeping and luckily it hasn't been noticed yet. True to his word Stefan had made sure to bring me a shirt that day, or multiple shirts actually for me to wear.

It wasn't hard to discover that Damon didn't like that very much. Like right now, Damon is sitting outside the door, being an asshole of course. He rolls his eyes as I let out another yawn. They haven't let Jeremy, Caroline or Bonnie see me though either. I hope that Jeremy and Aunt Jenna are okay.

There's a possibility that I won't have the chance to get to know them now and it's a bit disappointing. Although I'm not to hung up on not meeting John. But it could've been interesting too.

"Listen Elena, we just want to let you out of here okay? But we don't want you to be kidnapped again." Stefan says pleadingly as he sits down beside Damon. "So, if you can tell us anything it would help."

"The sky is blue." I decide to inform them boredly. They said anything after all. "And I believe that you need a haircut."

Damon snorts and mutters something under his breath, prompting Stefan to glare at him.

The younger brother looks back at me a short while later. "I meant about how you got home."

I raise an eyebrow at him and answer him as if he's slow. "I - walked - Obviously."

"Listen princess." Damon begins mockingly as he stands up and walks towards me as I sit lazily on the chair that they have me tied up to. "You're going to need to answer us before we make you give us some answers."

"Really?" I ask him innocently, looking at him with wide eyes as I fight down my laughter.

Hmm, it makes me wonder if Rose had died? I haven't seen her since I arrived and I didn't see Trevor either. Hopefully they're okay. I sort of liked them a little bit.

Damon growls at me and moves his face in front of mine as his hand begins lightly touching my hair. I force myself to remain relaxed and still. "Yes. Maybe, if you're good then we'll let you go. All you have to do is tell us what happened. Okay? That should be easy enough for you."

"Why don't you just try that then Damon? Lord knows that my boredom is at unparalleled levels at the moment." I tell him with as much disinterest as possible while I ignore his hand hovering near my face and in my new hair.

"Maybe she's actually Katherine and not Elena?" Stefan suggests to his brother awkwardly and skeptically while he stands stiffly at the door of the cell.

It seems that Stefan isn't very impressed with his older brother trying to touch me either. Or at least I hope that's part of why he said something. Perhaps I'm giving him too much credit though.

So, shortly after that I got vervain water thrown at me. How thrilling.

"Are you both satisfied that I didn't sizzle now?" I ask them irritated as I feel the skin around my wrists begin to tear from the ropes that are tied so tightly around them.

Stefan looks guiltily at the floor while Damon looks down right angry at me. "Go upstairs Stefan." He snaps, not taking his eyes off of me. "I want to have a little chat - one on one with her."

"Damon." The younger brother begins but Damon grabs Stefan by the collar and throws him out of the cellar with vampire speed.

"I'll call you when I'm done." The older one snaps and I fight the urge to bang my head on the floor.

He stands in silence as he watches me, almost transfixed. Shaking his head as if bringing himself from his own thoughts he sighs. "Elena, we just want to know so that we can protect you."

"Well, as swell as that sounds hon.. you've kind of already fucked that shit up real real badly. Just saying." I tell him with a small laugh causing him to frown.

"No, no. We just want you to be safe." He says as he places himself on his knees before me, his hand on my knee as he looks at my eyes.

I blink at him and shake my head, as laughter bubbles out of my mouth again in amusement. "What? You think throwing me in a cellar would be a good idea? Please, all I needed was a decent room and I would've been just dandy."

Stiffening underneath his hand as it travels up my leg I quickly raise it, smacking him in the chin as I do so. It wasn't long before he was back up though and the tear from the ropes has gotten worse, I can feel the blood dripping down my fingertips.

Threw gritted teeth I snap at him as he stands up in surprise, his hand on his jaw. "Don't Fucking Touch me Salvatore."

His blue eyes watch me, they've darkened and veins are growing under his eyes as his face changes. It's not long after that I feel his fangs in my throat. I bite inside my cheek to keep the muffled cry off of my lips as he viciously drinks from me.

When he pulls away with my blood on his lips his now stormy blues watch me intently. Not taking his eyes from me he bites into his arm and he brings it to my lips. Sharply I turn my head away from him.

"Now, don't be like that Elena." He says gently as his other hand grabs my hair and yanks my head to the side, bringing a muffled noise from my lips as I try to turn away.

Damon bites into his wrist again and pushes it into my mouth. When he pulls away I spit the blood out to the side. He looks me over, checking my wrists and he huffs lowly.

"Some of it went in. Your wrists are healing. No need to thank me or anything."

"Go to hell Damon." I tell him flatly as my eyes remain focused on the stone wall.

Or at least I think it's stone, I highly doubt that it's made with iron. Perhaps it's brick? I don't know.

I feel his hand fiddle with my hair as he moves around the chair. Again he kneels near me, but this time off to the side, his fingers are tingled in my hair now. My anxiety increases as he forces my head to move again.

"I'm going to find out what's wrong with you Elena." Damon says simply as he places his mouth next to my ear. "You will tell me Elena. One way or another, because you were fine until that bastard took you and I want you back to normal."

I snort as I try to yank myself away from him. That one I lose, causing me to wince at his tight grip in my hair. "No you don't. You want someone to mold and manipulate. It just pisses you off that you can't do that anymore."

"Kiss me." Damon says harshly as his eyes dilate. "Kiss me."

"Fuck you Damon." I say as I spit in his face causing him to harshly yank my head to the side and a Yelp escapes my lips.

He chuckles, in derangement or amusement though I'm not sure. "See, this is why I'm confused Elena. You're not a vampire, but somehow, somehow you can't be compelled?"

That's when I began to remain silent. After I don't speak regardless of what he says or asks he unties me and 'carry's' me to the bed in the other corner of the cell. He watches me hungrily as I sit there and I fight down the urge to attempt to kick his ass. Instead I look at the wall.

"We'll just have to try again tomorrow. Maybe Alaric - if we can find him, or perhaps Bonnie will help. Barbie won't, she's against the whole idea, which isn't much of a surprise." Damon says with a mocking pout as he vampire speeds to the door and locks it. "See you tomorrow princess."

I can't help but be curious as to why Elijah hasn't joined me in the deep dark cellar of the Salvatore Boarding House.

Perhaps that is a positive thing though? Only one of us needs to be stuck in a stuffy cellar at a time or something as equally fucked up as that. It's not like the room service here is anything to brag about, if anything it falls so far below the spectrum that they should just be closed down. Unfortunately I can't just issue a Get Out Of Jail Free card to myself and as a human I am at a disadvantage.

After I am finally left alone, more alone then I have been since I've been put in this place I began to snoop around. For the most part the cell is bare, something that I unfortunately noticed when I arrived. But here I am holding out hope that there's just something here that I can use. I don't even care if I die in the process.

Hopefully if that happens I'll finally get to be a kitten and then I can jump on counters and sit in sinks without being yelled out. All I found was a pencil under the bed, rolled right up against the wall. Maybe if they forgo the ropes next time I can stab Damon in the eye next time.
