![]() Author has written 5 stories for Star Wars. Star Wars fan from the beginning - 1977; but only recently (2017) became more of an addict (at age 61). For many years, I've wanted to write creatively, only now have I found the time to do it. George Lucas' vision motivated me like it did so many others around the world. I still remember going to the theater in my neighborhood on the East Side of Manhattan for all three of the original trilogy. Return of the Jedi remains the only time I have ever stood in line to see a movie. That afternoon in 1983 the line wrapped around the block and it was fun to pass the time swapping our impressions of all things SW with the other fans in line. But as the years wore on, I became weary of waiting for George to make more movies and thus I discovered - quite by accident, as I was in a bookstore for some reason - the world of Star Wars novels that we now call the EU. Some of these were good - the Corellian trilogy, the Thrawn trilogy - but others were a bit too far removed from Lucas' ideas for me to really get into. Plus the number of titles proliferated quickly. By the mid-1990s, I had put SW on the shelf and was involved with other pursuits. When the prequel trilogy came out, it took a while for me to warm up to it, and then in 2005 I purchased DVD of both episodes 1 and 2 and then returned to the theater to see Revenge of the Sith. The ending of that one was thrilling but that seemed like it for me. When Clone Wars animated series started, I was not in the least interested, same for Rebels. But then came Force Awakens. When I heard that it would be 30 years after ROTJ, and that Han, Leia, and Luke would be in it, I just had to see how it would go. That film started to rekindle things and I then started going to youtube and watching various videos with speculations and insights about that film and the coming sequel. It was then that I also revisited the prequels and started to get more interested in the whole SWU, which then led to my purchase of the Clone Wars seasons in a box set. Being able to see all of those episodes was one of the best journeys I've ever been on from an entertainment standpoint. Like so many others, I was touched deeply by the characterization of Ahsoka Tano, whom I had seen mentioned by many youtube commentors, but had no idea who she was until watching the CW series. After viewing Rebels seasons 1 and 2, and seeing how Ahsoka might have been terminated, I took a closer look and realized she was not. So this became the inspiration to write my first story. Along the way I am using much research into all the worlds, characters, and species I am presenting in Ahsoka and the Rebellion. I sincerely hope that readers will enjoy the journey I am taking them on ... UPDATE: Writing Ahsoka and the Rebellion was a labor of love for me, and I continue to be gratified by the reception it is still getting from the readers. It inspired me to write three new tales, as follows: - Ahsoka, Shaak, and the Second Empire : a sequel to Ahsoka and the Rebellion, and a further development of the themes in the original story. This one has a grand scope and will take another year or two to complete. - Shaak and Maris: A Star Wars Story : a back story for the events in Ahsoka and the Rebellion, it concentrates on Shaak Ti and Maris Brood, but Ahsoka and several other characters appear in it as well - Ahsoka Returns : this is a different Ahsoka story, which follows after the events of Return of the Jedi, it is not part of the same "universe" as the other tales I have written, but some of the same original characters appear in it. Here we have Ahsoka Tano, Ezra Bridger, Luke Skywalker, and others following their appearances in Star Wars Rebels or the Original Trilogy. |
