In the near future, humanity managed to strive forward after succeeding extended the lifespan of rechargeable batteries, alongside with renewable energy, and finally moves away from fossil fuels. Not long after, they slowly began developing new technologies to help people around the world who were still suffering from poverty. They also begun evolving their cities into a more futuristic state in order to fit with the developing world.
While this move has good intentions at first. But along the way, many of the countries, particularly military states, have been inventing new military weapons to strengthen their military forces; either for their country's defense or preparation for a hypocritical world war. In addition, China have finally achieved its superpower status thanks to Dong Dechou who replaced the old president. On his first day as the new president, he spends a lot on domestic projects that benefited the Chinese people and sending their own military into war-torn counties to gain military experience, such as in Africa and Middle East, especially those has strong ties to the communist country.
Despite the United States and their NATO allies tried to counter China by increasing their influence, the latter have already spreading their influence across the world as their cheap products are now more common in South East Asian and several European countries. They also helped in the Middle East and Africa by lending humanitarian supplies and military support to those governments that support the CCP, despite potential risk coming from them.
With the high support from their loyal citizens and their advanced military, China finally decided to launched an invasion to Taiwan to take back their province ruled by so-called 'rebels'. The Taiwanese Army, already anticipated about a possible invasion from the mainland, prepared to counter the invading force only for their defenses been sabotaged by moles inside and their counter-attacks plans were leaked into the Chinese intelligence agency.
With almost of their defenses disabled, the Chinese forces begin en-route towards Taiwan and destroy the submarines underneath the sea who destroyed few of their ships before their demise. The invasion force finally landed onto the beach and, despite the Taiwanese defenders guarding the beach with their all, the Chinese forces managed to push them back and took the beach. Few hours later, they took several military installations and major cities before their military leaders decided to take the Taiwanese capital for the CCP.
The US, despite their forces being occupied in South Korea and in Eastern Europe, send their forces in Taiwan to prevent a Chinese takeover, as well to rescue of their countrymen that caught up in the conflict. At first, they managed to hold out the Chinese invasion force in Taipei City and extracted many of the civilians and their embassy staffs. But on the fourth day, US forces were then forced to retreat after their defense line was overwhelmed by numerous Chinese forces and constant artillery bombing. At midnight, China finally took over Taiwan and made the democratic country into a new province.
Before a conflict broke out between the two superpowers, several diplomats from the UN advocated in the General Assembly for peace and wanted to end the bloodshed before it started. The US and China reluctantly accepted to stop the fighting, not risking starting a new world war, including countries that had been fighting each other. After signing several treaties in Geneva, Switzerland, all countries ceased hostilities with each other and the US was forced to accept Taiwan as part of China legally and as a new superpower.
However, China's actions in Taiwan only caused the US to saw the communist country as a threat to the free world and decided to strengthen their ties towards their NATO allies in Europe and some Asians countries that still resist China's influence. In turn, China saw the US as a threat towards their vision and the will of the Chinese people and sought to strengthen ties with several anti-western governments, namely Russia and Iran to counter American influence.
By the time of the new year, a second cold war has begun between the US and China as both superpowers increased military and economic spending since the first cold war. Although there are small clashes between their naval military in the Pacific and South China Sea, neither side wanted to risk full-blown war and decided they would watch each other closely for now.
Until a new event in Japan changed everything….
In the ruin district of Ginza, Lt. General Hazama was watching his men picking up dead civilians off the streets before putting them into the back of the trucks for proper burial. The sight of so many innocents lost their lives by these robots made him sick.
He then turned his head towards the robots that they have destroyed not long ago and frown angrily at these mechanical monsters as the soldiers from the JSDF and US Marines are currently removed them from the street and pile them from the side. They even put some of those Machines in a truck to send them to the scientists for research purposes.
A week earlier after the New Year, most citizens in Tokyo were enjoying their day when all of the sudden, a huge portal of white appeared in Ginza district and unknown Machines suddenly appeared in front of them. Before anyone could process what was happening, the robots begun rampaging indiscriminately against civilians as many of them tried to run for their lives with their children. Tokyo police tried to stop the Machines from going further while protecting innocent civilians as they could, but without proper equipment, they were forced to retreat and some of them were killed while protecting their fellow officers.
It was only the timely arrival of the JSDF forces that stopped the robots from going beyond the Ginza district. With the aid of US Marines stationed nearby, they slowly pushed the Machines back with tanks and air support and began encircle them as to make sure they wouldn't escape. By sundown, the joint Japanese-US forces finally wiped out the robots and took back Ginza, though they were stragglers inside the buildings.
Despite this, this victory was a saddening one.
During their counterattack, their forces saw a column of dead people and police officers in the streets as they proceed onwards, with one of the US Marine barfed at the gruesome sight in front of him. At the end of it all, there are reports that smaller robots have entered the buildings during the chaos and killed civilians as they can find. While they did find several people that survived, all of them were traumatized and needed a psychiatrist.
This event was one of the darkest days in Japan since the terrorist incident a decade ago. Total of 6000 casualties and a quarter of wounded were officially reported by the Japanese government. Not only their citizens were included, but also a number of foreigners that were caught up as well.
The news of the heavy death toll and death of other nationalities provoked the governments to take action against what they call a 'foreign invaders' and demanded the UN to take action. Furthermore, the existence of a portal in the middle in Ginza cause concern some governments, fearing of another foreign invasion in their nation as they put their military on high alert. During this time, scientists in Japan and others around the world started to research the portal and after reaching a certain point, they all agreed to build an artificial Dimensional Gate that could contain it with approval from the government, lest a possible time-space breaking apart.
While the device was currently in construction, the UN General Assembly were discussing about the 'Ginza Incident' on how to deal with this current situation. After a few days, they voted to form a 'United Nation Task Force' led by the US in order to combat whoever send those robot killers to the heart of Japan, especially when one of the lead scientists confirmed that there's a new world or dimension beyond the portal, much to China's displeasure.
A day after the UN announcement, Japan receive military support from the US, UK, South Korea, Russia, and France under the new task force, with Canada, Australia, India, and other countries would follow suit soon after the initial deployment. While the current Japanese government accepted allow the task force into their country, some nationalities opposed letting them entering their country. The Japanese national parties also opposed to stationed foreign troops as well and were protesting to the current government inside the National Diet.
"Why we do we need to let them in Japan?! We already have the US stationed here for how many years; we don't need more foreign troops into our own soil!"
"Our own military could handle these rusty robots with ease! If it wasn't for Article 9, we would've have stopped them before they can even do more damage!"
"That's right! Only Japan has the right to interfere into these matters!"
During of it all, the current Japanese Prime Minister; Motoi Shinzō defended the action, explaining to his fellow colleagues that it is necessary to stationed more allied troops in Japan to stand against whatever happens beyond the dimensional gate. Undeterred, the nationalists keep strongly opposed for it until the prime minister silenced them all and reminded that the people from other countries lost their lives in the Ginza Massacre.
Adding to this, people from all around the world who lost their friends and relatives in Ginza demanded retaliation and their governments were protesting to the Japanese nationalists' parties for attempting to blocking their military in Japan, giving them little to nothing to stop the decision.
A month after the Battle of Ginza, the UN initial task force arrived at Tokyo port and they begin to head towards Ginza where they would form a temporary command center in the ruin Wako Store until they construct their new base beyond the Gate. At the same time, scientists in charge of researching the Machines found out that the metals surround the robots were of alien-origin and were tough as any types of metals, despite the rust. But while their current weapons can still destroy them with ease, some Machines were resistant to it, as shown during the battle were a giant robot lifted a JSDF FT101 Main Battle Tank before being obliterated by a US Marines T-600 Titan.
Outside the store, JSDF soldiers were having a conversation with each other while their commanders were currently talking with the allied counterparts.
"I heard that our enemies are robots made by aliens! At least, that's what the scientists concluded in the reports."
"The hell?! Where do those nutjobs get the research from?" a JSDF soldier questioned. "From a manga? I find it hard to believe that these pieces of junks were made by alien technology."
"Nevertheless, these 'pieces of junks' slaughtered thousands of civilians and those 'nutjobs' you mentioned found out that they were programmed to hate humans, though they aren't sure why."
"Right? Here's hoping we weren't landing in a robot world or something."
While they were still discussing about the murderous robots and their upcoming expedition, Yōji Itami was sitting in the top of a wreckage car looking at the moon above. It had been a month since the attack by these alien robots and still remembered that horrible day. While he was going in an Otaku convention in Ginza, he was taken aback when he first saw robots for the first time.
Although he thoughtfully excited that seeing a real-life robot for the first time, it was not long before his behavior changed when he saw those same robots killing innocent civilians in their path without remorse. Itami saw a young girl almost in next of being killed if he didn't grab a RW1 pistol and shoot the robot in the head. Afterwards, he made his way into a safe zone with the girl and they stayed there until a joint JSDF-US Marine forces managed to destroyed the robots surrounding the zone.
In the present day, Itami looked a picture in his hand and saw himself with his wife at his side. He was glad that she was late for their meeting in the mall due to her overwork. Otherwise, he doesn't know what would happen if she were here during the Ginza incident.
By sunrise, the UN Task Force begin mobilizing their combined military and slowly march towards the dimensional gate by sunrise, which they were greeted by the cheering crowd; Japanese or foreign citizens and waving their flags in their respectful countries. The nationalists though were protesting at the task force, albeit were small and they were police presence in the area to make sure there no troublemakers.
In the front of the futuristic dimensional gate, the Prime Minister is standing in the podium facing the task force in front of him with several of his bodyguards standing each side. He then begins his announcement to the public.
"To our people of Japan and from abroad watching this spectacle. I have announcement to all that our government signed a bill that we will be proceeding with the full support of the Diet. On this day, we remembered the portal that appeared in Ginza and summoned mechanical monstrosities that killed thousands of innocent lives. For the victims that present here, you have all our condolences."
"As such, the UN Task Force would march through this Gate and find the perpetrators who ordered the invasion in Ginza while exploring a new world that the allied commanders concluded to be fully occupied by the enemy. We hope their mission to eliminate the enemy force and their leaders would be a success."
After finishing the rest of his speech, Shinzō bowed to the people before leaving the podium with his bodyguards lifted it out of the way. The UN Task Force now started their vehicles as the JSDF tanks leading the formation move forward first through the Gate, followed by the US, Russia, South Korea, UK, and France armed forces.
Although the task force resolves to push forward towards their mission, what lies beyond the Gate would affect both of them in time.
A/N: I finished my first chapter of Gate/Nier: Automata. Not only that, I think this the first Gate/Nier Crossover fanfiction made. I did try to search for that when I was interested in Nier series but no such luck. Because of that, I decided to make another crossover with both of them. For the people who read my other crossover, don't worry. This story would be one-shot for now and only test if this garners attention from the readers. The next chapter of my other crossover will come soon, so just be patient.
Before you guys said I play Nier: Automata, no I did not. I do have the game but I'm still waiting for the update that Square Enix promised. And just my luck, the update will be releasing on July 15, tomorrow by the time you see this new story. While I can't give you all a link, you can search for it on the internet for the news about the new update.
The technology used in this story came from the video game called the "Call of Duty: Advance Warfare" as the pistol RW1 and tanks FT101 Main Battle Tank & T-600 Titan made an appearance.
