"This is Green Unit, reporting in."
"Green Unit, this is command speaking. What's the situation there?"
"We cleared the east from the mechanical hostiles and are currently checking the area. We just await your permission to build another outpost here."
"You're good to go Green Unit. We'll send a platoon and supplies on your location in a few minutes, stay safe until then."
"Understood command, over and out."
USA Major Irving puts back his radio and stared at his troops cleaning up the destroyed Machines, along with Canadians troops that arrived recently and some of their engineers began construct their new outpost.
2 months earlier, the UN Task Force successfully entered the dimensional portal that the scientists created for the anomaly and they were located somewhere in a ruin of a castle outside, with one French reminded an old castle in Germany. Just as they exited the portal, they encountered the Machines in front of them, staring at the task force like they were caught a robber in a daylight. Moreover, their appearance is strangely different from the Machines that attacked Ginza and these were strikingly similar to medieval knights in the middle age.
Taking advantage at the surprise, the task force proceed to engage the hostile forces. The Machines, despite retaliating against them all their got for their 'king', were helpless against their futuristic weapons and was completely wiped out. The task force then proceed to move towards the castle and clearing out the rest of their Machine forces guarding the castle, including destroying the small 'king'. In an hour, they successfully taken the castle from the Machines, which the UN Task Force Commanders implying its one of their strongholds, and made it into their Command Center in this dimension for the duration of the mission as several engineers coming from the Gate begun to fortify its defenses by covering any weak spots within the castle as they can.
Shortly after taking the castle ruins, the task force saw many Machines coming from the right, no doubt trying to take back their stronghold. Despite having numerous advantage, the Machines once again were defeated by sheer firepower, with many of them destroyed and the rest retreating but not before one of those Machines shouted at them 'This isn't over!' and 'we will avenge our king!'. The task force were surprised to hear that this mechanical hostiles can speak their language.
After the battle, The UN Task Force made the entire ruins a military installation as the engineers now began to build large concrete walls around the perimeter with watchtowers to deter Machines from trying to attack again, as well as building a new concrete roads and a new bridge that connects them from the castle entrance so their forces would safely cross beyond the large trees.
During all of this however, they started to notice that the sun is not moving to its usual rotation unlike in their dimension, despite the time passed. Some commanders theorize that this is the nature of this new world but for the UK, Russia, and French commanders suspected there's more to it than that. Nevertheless, they all agreed that it would be the best to accept this new theory for now until they sent a scouting force outside their base and wait for scientists from their world to come over once the threat here is minimal.
A week later after the attack, the UN Task Force began their first counterattack against the Machines by attacking on what appears to be a training facilities and taking it over before converted them into a modern outpost while the Machines guarding it were nearly wiped out and was forced to push further back deeper into the woods. Their forces also found a farm occupied by a hooded Machine that taken care of over-sized wild boars. Although the lone Machine seems harmless, their forces didn't want to take any chances as one of their sniper shot the robot into the head before taking the farm for the task force.
A month later, they managed to turn the ruin castle into a modern fort while the large concrete walls surrounding their military base have been completed near the end of the month by the engineers thanks to the enormous supplies coming from the Gate and they are now planning to install several military facilities within the castle. That includes building a laboratory for the scientists, who they will be arriving once the Machines threat in the area disperse by the task force.
Back at the present, Major Irving lights up a smoke as he stares at the large trees in front of him. He remembered when he was in the US Army in the US before his superiors decided to transfer he and his men to Japan to take part of the UN Task Force, which was to avenge their citizens getting killed by a bunch of rusty robot. He admitted during the flight that all of this was one big joke planted by one of his superiors. But after the Prime Minister reported the casualties to the world and seeing the Machines during the counterattack, all of his disbelief was wiped from his mind.
Major Irving then throws his cigar and turning around to help his men. "Lets just get on with it."
"Is this all of it?"
"Yeah. Though our commanders refrain us to taking too much just for a scouting mission."
Outside the fort, Itami was putting the last of the bags at the back of the Pit-bull with JSDF Sergeant Takeo Kurata with the help of their exo-suits. Prior to this, Itami was also participated in the takeover of the Machine's stronghold but didn't take part at the counterattack and was stationed at the new military base, not that it matters to him anyway.
During their weapons practice, he was summoned by the UN Task Force Command inside the military fort. One of them was his commanding officer; Lt. General Kōichirō Hazama of the JSDF. The commanders congratulate the young man for his role at the Battle of Ginza. To his shock, they told him that they would be giving him the command of a newly recon team known as the 'UN Third Recon Team'.
Suggested by Hazama, Third Recon's mission was to survey the terrain beyond this large forest with his recon team and find any civilizations existed here if possible, as well as find any alien lifeforms as requested by the scientists back on Earth. For precaution, they would be traveling with a UN Squad composed of small US and UK troops to guard them during the mission as air support would not be available for the time being.
Although Itami was hesitant to lead his own platoon, he accepted it nonetheless. Before exiting the room, the Japanese Lt. General promoted him as Second Lieutenant giving to him by the Japanese Government even though his participation was only minor. When he exited the Command Center, he was greeted by his new team gathered by Hazama as they saluted their new leader, including the US and UK troops who would also participating as well.
In the present, Kurata closed the Pit-bull's doors after checking the bags. "If you sure." Kurata replied as he and his partner Itami entered their leading vehicle while the rest were behind them. "I'm still worried we would get ambushed by alien Machines."
But Itami shrugged it off. "Don't worry. The commanders lend some of their soldiers to aid us in our scouting mission and if those Machines try to attack us, we'll just destroy them with ease."
"That is true but…. Why command order us to come back after 6 hours for our report? We could just communicate them in the radio during our survey."
"Well…." Itami scratched his head. He told his longtime friend that, after the meeting, the commanders warned him that contact between his team and theirs were not allowed due to security reasons. They mentioned that the scientists in charge of research the alien robots warned them about a possible enemy network that controlled the Machines after they extract a chip that can act as a wireless adapter. For this reason, communication between his team and recon teams participating them were allowed, albeit limited.
"Damn." Kurata said. "I guess the commanders didn't want to take any chances huh?
"And so do we." Two JSDF soldiers; Master Sergeant Tetsuya Nishina and Sergeant First Class Akira Tomita then suddenly entered the vehicle in the rear seats. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting sir, me and Nishina were just gathering some supplies on our own."
"That's fine. Its better to prepare yourself after all, since we don't know what awaits us out there." Itami then raised his eyebrows at them. "And just call me Itami. If we going to be sticking together, we might as well be familiar with each other along the way."
Tomita nodded firmly. "Of course!"
"Alright si- I mean Itami!" Nishina happily replied back.
Itami chucked. Just then, he hear a voice on his radio. "Avenger, this is Alpha, do you hear us?"
Itami picked up the radio in response, saying. "This is Avenger, I hear you Alpha. You guys ready to go?
"Heh. Of course we're ready Japs. We're waiting on your signal to go."
"Roger that. I start the engine now." Itami clicks the radio off as he turns the engine key. Once started, they drive towards the main gate, with the rest of the convoy now following the lead vehicle. When they stopped at the main gate, there were stopped by two US AST32 who are guarding the entrance of the base. Minutes later, they finally go through the gate after Command reported about the recon team's mission and crossed over the new black-steel bridge.
Before their first recon mission, one of their intelligence reports that during the counterattack by the task force, their advance tanks can't get through the huge stone wall and they were forced to detour to the other side and snipers climbing it. But thanks to the construction workers and their vehicles passing through the Dimensional Gate after their counterattack, they managed to built a concrete road and a small bridge with a checkpoint near the UN outpost which was built shortly after their counterattack.
In the forest, the recon team were awe by the giant trees around them as they drive. Sure, they already seen it during their fight against the Machine in the castle before but they were still amazed by the sight nonetheless. According to the outpost soldier, the workers were already going deeper into the forest with a UN Platoon and a tank crew. Because the UN Command restricted faraway communications for the time being, the soldiers asked the recon teams to check up on them. Itami and the recon team agrees as they continue driving into the huge forest.
While the Japanese Third Recon leading the convoy, behind them were the UN Squad assigned by command to assist with them. In one of the UN Bulldog's, USMC PFCs and Sentinel-one team members; Jack Mitchell and Ilona were on the rear seats while another member 'Joker' seated beside their lead Captain Gideon who currently drives the vehicle.
"So what do you think we're gonna find here? More aliens perhaps?" Mitchell asked to his teammates.
"Maybe." Ilona simply answered. "Cormack said there might be a civilization beyond this forest and, if there are, we should contact them and ask some information about this world."
"That is if they even exist in this world." Gideon replied, keeping his eyes on the lead vehicle. "Even if they do, they must be in a caveman level for all we know. Otherwise, they would've known our battle months ago by now."
"True that boss!"
Before Mitchell could talk back, the radio suddenly spoke out a familiar voice. "Alpha, this is Avenger. We saw the construction convoy that the soldier spoke earlier, but it seems they are under attack by enemy Machines, including their escorts. We should prioritize them before proceeding with our mission, over."
"Roger that Avenger, over." Gideon then turns to his fellow soldiers. "Alright fellas, those workers need our help. So get your weapons and exo-suits ready!"
Sentinel-one immediately exited their vehicle with their weapons, along with other UN squads following them. Reaching front of the lead vehicle, they found Machines attacking the construction workers and their armed convoy from both sides. Although they have the advantage in firepower, they would be overwhelmed by sheer numbers if they don't stop the Machines in time.
With permission from their respective captains, the UN squads attacked the Machines to their rears and, despite their sheer discipline from their Machine 'commanders', they were completely wiped out to the last robot. They went towards the convey to check the damage caused by the enemy robots. Only few workers were injured by the initial surprise attack and none of them were killed by Machines. Nevertheless, Itami told the lead workers there to return back to their post after telling them about the soldier back at the outpost.
The construction workers agreed on his request to return back, but only if they guard them as they finish putting the last of the concrete roads all the way up near the small canyon at the end. After half an hour, they pack up their equipment and leave back to the outpost with their convoy, leaving only the UN Recon Teams behind.
"So this must be the canyon right?" Gideon asked, observing the canyon in front of them with Itami and Tomita. "Damn, it look like our vehicles wont make it past here."
"Agreed. This canyon here is just too small for our convoy to pass through." Tomita pointed out. "We'll can report this back to command when we finish our scouting mission."
"Then its settled. We split our recon team into two; One group would proceed with the mission while the our drivers would return back to a nearby outpost and wait for instructions, provided we didn't get far." Itami turned his head towards the two. "Relay this to the others you two."
"Understood!"
"Roger that!"
The two obeyed his orders and head towards their own team while Itami continues to watch the canyon. Minutes later, they grabbed their gear from their vehicles and proceed to enter through the gorge, with Itami ordered their drivers to head towards the outpost they just passed earlier and wait for further orders. The way is not long though as the recon team finally made their way outside, only to taken aback when they see a modern building covered in wildlife, something they didn't expect when marching into this world.
"Wait, what's this building doing here Lieutenant? Aren't we supposed to be in a different dimension like those lab coats said?" Tomita asked.
"Maybe. But I'm not sure just yet." Itami then sees a broken security door with a huge hole on it. "Lets get into the building first and get information if they are. I suspect that this world is not of an alien origin that we initially believed."
"Ehh? Why's that?" Kurata said.
"Think about it. When we arrived on this world, we haven't experienced any viruses or mutation during these past few weeks." Third Recon's combat medic and Sergeant First Class Mari Kurokawa stated. "Also, the oxygen level here is normal too, like back in our dimension and we haven't felt anything pain or suffocate ever since."
Before they could talk more, Captain Gideon step in onto their conversation. "Well, I hate to interrupt whatever you and your pals are talking about but if we're not going to find out what this world this is if we stay out long in the open."
I suggest we should enter the building and confirm it ourselves."
Itami nodded. "Agreed. Come on you guys and watch our backs."
And with that, the UN Recon Team made their way inside the ruin building through the hole and what they see baffled them. The interior of this building is, or was, previously a commercial mall, filled with many people who buys stuff back in this world. Today, this place is now filled with wildlife as well, with a large pipe sticking out from the upper wall was made into a makeshift waterfall.
Itami orders the Task Force to sweep around if there's any machines near them. During the sweep, they found a large steel door on top of the ladder, surrounded by giant roots and seeing the red light in the top-left indicates that this one is still operational. Unfortunately for them, the door doesn't budge and found out later that this one needs a specific clearance to open. For now, they left the steel door and put it in their reports before continuing on.
After confirmed that this building is clear from enemy robots, the young lieutenant sends the UK units back to the UN outpost through the canyon again to signal the convoy and bring the rest of their equipment to establish a new outpost. While they are waiting for the unit, Itami and the rest of the UN Recon Team decided to check outside through the main gate to see what kind of dimension they entered in beyond the giant forest.
When they did see outside, however, they were completely shocked about the appearance of this 'world'.
On the horizon, they saw modern buildings similar to their dimension. But like the castle and this building though, its obviously clear they are also covered with wildlife, despite being far away and were in state of disrepair to the point some of them would be toppled by a strong wind. Strangely enough, they didn't find evidence that the buildings and the mall were equipped with futuristic technology, aside from the steel door they just found earlier.
What separates between them and the city was a long-wooden bridge, which is clear they were hand-made but whoever built them is anyone's guess. Nevertheless, they slowly realize that the dimension their task force just entered was their own Earth, making Itami's suspicion turned out to be correct. "Looks like I was spot on. We're on Earth all right, but in an alternate timeline."
"If what you say Lieutenant is true, that means…."
"We're back from Earth?!" Kurata screamed before he widen in realization. "Wait a minute! Then, why did our world turned into a
"Don't know. But I say nuclear bombs used here are second to none. Otherwise, we would've been killed radioactive poisoning in the second." Gideon pointed out. "Furthermore, I don't see evidence of any military vehicles anywhere. So I think something must've happened in this dimension timeline."
"Yeah, but where can we find those answers Gideon?" Mitchell asked.
"Well, standing around here isn't helping us either." Gideon then faces Itami. "Lieutenant, me and Sentinel-one would proceed with the mission and try to find something…."
Just before he can finish, the recon team heard an explosion behind them as they turn their eyes back into the ruin city. There, they see flames outside the building in the left and, if not mistaken, they also saw enemy machines running towards it, including larger ones they just seen in Ginza before.
Believing somebody is in danger, Gideon and Itami quickly gave orders to their respective units before rushing towards the wooden bridge, with the rest of the Third Recon Team and the US unit volunteered to stay and guard the mall from Machines.
Inside the building, which is continuously burning due to the wildlife surrounding it, Devola and Popola hold their swords straight and back-to-back, all the while being surrounded by Machines. Earlier, the two of them were given another job by the Resistance leader to grab rare materials from the Desert Zone for the war effort against. An impossible task for sure, even for a YoRHa unit and the way there were now more dangerous ever since the Machines were mysteriously aggressive half a month ago and already send their reports to YoRHa.
But not wanting to be persecuted even more by the resistance androids, they both accepted the request. Anemone, feel pity for the red-haired androids, ordered two resistance members to accompany them towards the Desert Zone for the materials. Half-way towards the location, the 4 of them soon found themselves to be attacked by Machines from the Forest Zone. Knowing they would be surrounded by them, they moved towards a nearby building. During their retreat however, the two resistance members, who accompanied them, starts to abandon the two before they were killed by Goliath Bipeds on their way out.
At present, Devola and Popola managed to take down a couple of them before forcing them stay together as the Machines circled around the two and stood idly, waiting for the twins to attack again. Devola gave her twin sister a grim smile, which her sister returns it, knowing that they wouldn't leave unscathed and both prefer to die together than living alone in this cruel world without the other.
Before they can charge the Machines however, a gunfire erupted from all sides as several machines fell into the ground in rapid succession. Two Goliath Bipeds were shot into the heads with a light beam as they fell near the machines before they exploded into pieces. This causes to remaining Machines to run off in fear, giving the twins a sigh of relief. But their expression turned into a confusion and both wondered who saved them.
Their thoughts were answered when mysterious 'androids' appeared on all sides, with two androids jumping from the broken ceiling. They initially believed they're from YoRHa but they quickly realized they aren't wearing YoRHa uniforms and wore a different kind of clothing, attached on what appears to be a 'steel armor' of some sorts. They also noticed that these androids handled different kind of rifles, something neither the Resistance equips today.
If they aren't from YoRHa or the Resistance, then who…?
"Excuse me girls. Just what you two are doing here?" the twins looked at the 'android' who spoke them. To their curious, the android's appearance is almost similar to a human; an extinct race that their counterparts failed to protect thousands of years ago. "Don't you know they could eat your brains out?"
"Stop scaring them Joker. They must have terrified from the experience." A tan girl 'android' approaches them. "My apologies from my friend here. My name is Ilona and these are my friends. And you two are?"
"My name is Devola and this is my twin sister Popola." She introduced herself. "We're from the Resistance Camp, just half-way of here… I think."
"Um… thanks for saving us from the Machines." Popola quietly thanked the group.
"Its no trouble miss." Tomita replied. "Wait… You said a 'Resistance Camp'. Does that mean there are people also fight the robots that attacked our homeland?"
"Those 'robots' you said, are called Machines. They were made by the aliens when they first arrived here to conquer Earth and we androids are now fighting against them in our creators behest. Its been that way for thousands of years ever since." Devola briefly explained.
Now it all makes sense to Itami. The aliens appeared from outer space in this world and, like any alien invasion movies, attacked Earth and suddenly took it over. And now humanity today appears to be fighting back against the aliens and take back their home. But it doesn't explain why there are no military vehicles here in the ruin city. An attack from outer space would pull almost all of their military assets against a foreign threat and, even if they were easily destroyed, there should be a couple of destroyed military vehicles around them.
"Hold up there." Itami was brought up from his thoughts by Mitchell. "You said 'we androids'. What do you mean by that?"
Devola and Popola were dumbfounded by their questions. "What do you mean by… what? Of course we're androids!" Devola said. "I mean, we never met any android who don't know about our war between them and you all should already know about the history. Aren't you all androids from somewhere?"
"I'm sorry what? We aren't androids you know." Joker clarified. "And just to be clear, we're humans. Can't you two tell the difference?"
"What…." The two whispered simultaneously. Their eyes then widened and before one of them questions them again, Devola quickly grabs the large man's wrist, taken them by surprise as she uses her fingers to check for a pulse. When she did however, she suddenly tears up and moves back a little. Then her sister Popola follows the same pattern as her sister and suddenly begins to tear up as well.
"Um…."
"Are you two okay? Cause you look like you're about to…."
Before Itami could finish his sentence, Devola and Popola suddenly hugged him without warning, shocking everyone at present. Just as he about to ask them what's wrong, the red-headed twins started crying on his chest and making them even more confused. The two looked up to him and said. "We're sorry! We're so sorry!"
"We're sorry for failing to protect you all. Please forgive us!"
"Wha…."
"Sorry we're late Lieutenant." Itami quickly turned his head around and saw his friend Kurata and Sergeant First Class Shino Kuribayashi enter through the broken wall. "The other units were worried about you all and we been sent here to check… what the…?" They soon stopped once the two JSDF soldiers saw their lieutenant hugged by two beautiful red-headed girls as Shino gave a mouth-gap while Kurata gave a fist-bump into the air, showing his approval to his friend but jealous at the same time.
After a brief silence, Itami sheepishly said to them. "Um… Can someone help me out here?"
A/N: And this chapter's done. I never expected the popularity of my Gate/Nier: Automata crossover story to blow up after just 1 chapter. Also, seeing the reviews and the fav/follow is enough for me to garner my attention as I said on my last A/N. For this, I decided to write another one for my readers who have been waiting for a month. However, due to me busy in real-life and still yet to update my another Gate crossover fanfiction, expect that the next chapter would take longer to release.
Now, for the reviews:
vivaldi98: Yeah, especially they're aren't a Gate/Nier: Automata crossover fanfiction.
Hakimsohit51: I think all of them as this story progresses.
JaphetSkie: Thank you! :)
palik: Haha! :D
Guest: Its a random time/space distortion like in most stories rather than Machines or humanity in the 2050s. As for the Androids meeting the UN Task Force, it would be in a future chapter.
Guest: Agreed.
The-Killer40513: I think you misunderstand. In the first chapter, China's objective wasn't to beat America but was to take Taiwan back into their fold after decades of self-governing. That act would've, realistically, unleashed WWIII if not for the UN diplomats to mediate between two superpowers in this story.
naufalrakha0104: Thank you! :)
Guest: China beating US wasn't their objective but to take back Taiwan and superior numbers sometimes win on the battlefield.
NootMF: Thank you! I'm sure you'll see more chapters in the future.
MeleeSmasher: That was just the prologue and, if you read my previous A/N, I tested it if see this garner more attention or not.
Ghostly: I'm aware that the Nier series has a connection with the Drakengard series, which is the main series and the former is a spin-off, but I decided to focus on the Nier universe for now. Not to mention, what you said in your reply would take to much of my time, though I aware the first Drakengard game's ending E caused a worldwide global pandemic and the creation of the Legion. Besides, I wanted to make a story about 'humans meet androids' and Nier series fanfiction has only few of them, especially in crossover.
As for the two fanfiction; '(S)alvation' by Uzumaki D. Luffy and 'Survive' by AlcatrazDGold, I read the two of them but I got bored of the former and I can't wait for the next chapter in the latter fanfiction.
doomqwer: Well, the UN is just an intergovernmental organization and not a world government. I doubt the US would let them take
American Blitzkrieg: And here's a new chapter. I hope this one satisfy you for now. :)
Arc-Angel-Of-Fire: I made this story for a test if see if it attracts the readers attention and, if it is, I'll remove the one-shot after the release of a second chapter.
Major Simi: Thanks! I'll make more if I have enough time but I hope this one would be enough for you for now. :)
JackFrost21: Thank you! :D
speedboi: I will if I have enough time. :)
That's enough for now, feel free to reply. thank you guys and see you all in the next chapter! :)
