-Prologue-
"My name is Clark Kent. No. That name is no more. It was just a name, a mindset of my foolish days. I thought I could be like them. I thought if I lowered myself to become like them, that I would be less alone. That I wouldn't be Kal-El, but instead Clark Kent. I was foolish, foolish to dream. I no longer wish to fight. I no longer wish to protect them. They are on their own.
May Rao have mercy on their souls" - Kal-El of Krypton
The cold winds of the Arctic tundra bit and tore at the face of Portal Jumper, a powerful new-age villain who utilized dimensional rifts to rob banks and kill people by throwing them into alternate dimensions. He was a tall man of mixed heritage. Half Japanese, half Portuguese, he was the son of two immigrants in America both part of the artifact smuggling business.
He wore a thick white winter jacket and winter pants. His boots were grey and his hat and goggles were also white. In his snow-gloved hands, he held a fist-sized metal cube that glowed with a blue light. He held it carefully, like a fragile glass ornament, making sure not to break it. After all, this was what he would use to pull off the greatest accomplishment since Magog taking over Superman's role.
He had gained good intel from his boss that superman was still inside the Fortress of Solitude.
A good hundred meters ahead of him were the tall crystal spires of the fortress of solitude. For the longest time, it was hidden away. Even to the best of Villians, it was nearly impossible to find it. However, it was eventually found. This Portal Jumper fellow was called in to throw the entire fortress into a different dimension. Normally this would be impossible for him, however, he had an artifact of incredible power that magnified dimensional abilities a hundredfold.
Stopping seventy yards from the fortress, he placed the cube down in the snow. Kneeling in front of it, he placed a hand on it, attuning to its massive energies. This cube empowered him way beyond that of the power of a Green Lantern. Straining his power, he opened a portal below the fortress that widened beneath it. The fortress's anti dimensional defenses activated, however, the artifact nullified them, forcing the entire complex into the portal, never to be seen again.
Portal Jumper removed his hand from the artifact, panting heavily as sweat poured down his face.
He did it.
Superman, the Man of Steel was gone.
How many years had it been? How many years had passed since Kal had shut himself away in the fortress of solitude? Too many to count. That much was certain. He had lost track of time long before he even began to question how much time had passed in his absence.
Sitting on the roof of his house in Kansas while looking out over the fields of grain was Superman or as he now preferred, Kal-El. His aging had begun to show as witnessed by gray streaks in his normally pristine black hair. He had begun getting faint traces of wrinkles on his forehead. Despite the constant solar soaking in the Fortress, he still did age. Albeit far slower than almost any mortal being in the universe. His chest was laid bare and he wore almost nothing other than a pair of blue boxers and blue jeans.
His blue eyes had become slightly duller, be it from his thousands of years in seclusion or loneliness, he had become detached from the world.
"This wasn't your fault Kal. I don't know how many times I will have to tell you this, but you are not to blame for whatever happened to the Earth. However, you can't spend forever in the fortress. Perhaps it is time you left. Perhaps now is the time you returned to the outside world?" Came the voice of his father Jor-El. At least the Ai hologram of his father who sat next to him on the roof.
"Perhaps you're right," Kal said raising his right hand and waving it with the command of "Hologram off".
Clark was left floating with the hologram of his father in a long four hundred meter metal room full of devices and blinking lights in boxes on the walls.
Descending to the metal floor and landing with a light pat, Kal-El walked to the nearest exit, a set of gray stairs that went to the ground floor of the fortress near the entrance. What would the Earth look like after the countless thousands of years? He contemplated using his super hearing but decided against it, wanting the experience to be left unspoiled.
Opening the massive crystal door to the fortress, he was greeted by grassy plains for a long distance, eventually stopped by a distant treeline. This was certainly not the Arctic.
Stepping onto the grass in only his jeans and boxers, he felt the fresh breeze of the summer blow across his face and chest as the soft feeling of grass and earth relaxed his feet.
He looked up to the sun and felt its energy fill him with even more power than the solar cells in the fortress. Taking to the sky, he flew. It felt amazing, flying across the sky and feeling the wind on his skin. It was like stretching your muscles after a long rest. It felt good. It felt amazing. He had flown so far the surroundings had changed into reddish-brown rocky canyons.
In the distance he saw what he could only assume was a Dragon breathing fire at a long caravan of people in wooden and canvas carriages and, armored trucks? It seemed some of the trucks were firing their machine guns at it, but it did very little damage.
Speeding up to untrackable speeds, Kal drew back his fist.
CRACKOOM!
With one punch to the head of the dragon, the mighty building-sized dragon flew into a canyon wall and indented deep into it, unconscious. It would not be getting up any time soon.
Quickly flying down to the burning carriages, he blew the fires out with his breath.
Now with the main problems solved, Superman flew up to the armored vehicles stopping in front of the procession. Waving at the men in the front truck, being Yoji Itami and co, he heard them discuss over comms what to do. However, Rory took the initiative.
Jumping out of the truck and sauntering over to Kal, she circled him, taking in his image.
"I don't know who you are, but could you stop looking at me like that? I'm not a piece of meat" Kal said to Rory who just chuckled and walked up to him, trying to hook his arm into hers.
Despite her iron strength, she could not force his arm to bend for her. This had the opposite effect of what Kal expected. This girl who had just been eyeing him up like prime ribs was now trying to get closer to him. This was incredibly inappropriate for how young she looked and Kal certainly would not like to be branded a pedophile first thing back into the world.
"Miss, I'm going to need you to step away from me now," He said in English, grabbing the girl firmly by the shoulders and pushing her lightly away like one would a child. The girl seemed to be even more excited about being forced away. This was an odd one, that was for sure.
Yoji Itami was having a small meltdown. A massive red dragon had assaulted the convoy and they had mounted a hasty defense, however, the guns used did little but annoy it. Then, out of nowhere, a cracking blow was heard and the dragon was sent barreling into the nearby cliff unconscious. He wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen it for himself.
Then, whatever had taken out the dragon blew out all the fires on the convoy and carriages.
Now, nigh instantly, someone stood a good twenty meters in front of the convoy on the road.
It looked to be an American man, Maybe European. He was thickly muscled and looked to be in his late forties to early fifties. He had light skin, short graying black hair, and wore no shirt or shoes. He waved at them expectantly, and sure enough Rory, the demigoddess they just met went out to greet him. Seeing the short interaction between the two was amusing, but it seemed the man wanted to speak with them. He was wearing blue jeans that looked from Earth. None of the people in this new world wore blue jeans, so maybe this person was from earth.
However, he highly doubted it. Anybody with the powers he had would be known about on earth.
Deciding to take the initiative, he stepped out of the truck and made his way over to the man who was patiently waiting for him to arrive.
Itami bowed in greeting and tried the little of the special region language greetings he knew, but the man looked at him quizzically before greeting him in perfect Japanese.
"Greetings friend, I'm assuming you're Japanese? Please forgive me if I am wrong" The man said, giving a slight bow in greeting.
"Yes, I am. Who are you? I don't think I've ever seen you before" Itami managed to say out of surprise.
"My name is Kal-El, I saw the dragon attacking and came to stop it. What's going on here?" Kal asked, waving in the direction of the convoy.
"KAL-EL? Like Superman?" Itami choked out, his eyes as wide as dinner plates.
"Yes, that would be me" Kal said, inadvertently causing Itami to almost faint.
And cut. I hope you enjoyed the intro.
