(I rewritten the last bit of the previous chapter so you might want to see that to avoid confusion with the contradiction in this chapter.)
Musutafu, in front of Vigorous's agency building..
"Shimura Nana, Floatie, the nobody." Vigorous mocked. Nana eyed him and narrowed her eyes, before returning her gaze to Toshinori, "Anyways, I need you to come with me. We can talk while we walk, and if I get all the information needed, you can go home."
Vigorous growled, "You ain't bringing him anywhere, Floatie!" He said, hitting Nana in the stomach, sending her flying away, before approaching Toshinori, grabbing him by the collar, "You're not fleeing! I'll fuck you up here and now!"
Toshinori raised his eyebrow as he locked his eyes on Vigorous, "Did you just...sent the freaking heroine flying away?"
Vigorous, instead of responding, tried to do a downward smash in the direction of Toshinori's head.
However, the blow didn't make Toshinori budge, but instead, it destroyed the ground below. Toshinori stared at him blankly, before Vigorous took a step back, "W...what kind of...WHAT KIND OF QUIRK DO YOU HAVE?!"
Toshinori sighed in exasperation, "I don't have a quirk." he bluntly stated, "I'm one of the reasons why you shouldn't be some kind of prejudice moron towards the quirkless."
Vigorous widened his eyes, "You're quirkless?! You're lying! You're lying!!!" He rushed into the direction of Toshinori, throwing barrages of rage-filled attacks, which was dodged by Toshinori effortlessly.
"Come on, I really don't want to humiliate you in front of these guys. As much as I hate your guts, you did good as a hero." Toshinori said in amidst of dodging the pro-hero's attacks. Why am I still bothered to give him a chance again?
The pro-hero didn't respond, his rage was too great for him to even stop. Toshinori sighed, "Look, all I ask is for you to tell your son's to leave Genos alone, is that so hard to ask?"
Vigorous ignored it and ended his chain of attacks with a knee strike to the guts. Toshinori however, didn't move at all. He looked at the pro-hero's knee awkwardly, before turning to look at Vigorous, "You oughta stop-"
His words didn't reach the pro-hero as he was struck in the face again. Impervious to everything, Toshinori didn't move an inch from the attack, "Seriously?"
Vigorous kept on striking his face, creating shockwaves that caused the crowds to cover their body with their arms from the wind pressure.
He threw an axe shaped punch downwards towards Toshinori's temple, causing the shockwave to grow bigger and bigger. "You're fucking hopeless." Toshinori muttered, humoured by the pro-hero's idiotic tendencies.
Before Vigorous can throw another attack, however, a hand suddenly reached out. Nana was behind the pro-hero, before chopping Vigorous's neck.
Vigorous stood still for a few seconds, before slumping into the ground. Toshinori panicked, before using his speed to prevent Vigorous from being seen by the crowds in his unconscious state.
Toshinori placed the pro-hero in front of his office, before going outside of the building instantly, whispering to Nana's ear, "Tell them that Vigorous had to rest due to his illness, and that you had to fight me instead."
Nana laughed lightly, "Oh, Toshi, you really think they're naive to believe that bullshit? Vigorous's license is getting revoked anyway."
T- Toshi?
"Wait, revoked?" Toshinori asked loudly, "I mean sure he is an asshole, but..at least he's better than that bicycle guy."
"Ah, that was you, the one who caught Bicyclist in the middle of his misdeeds." Nana smiled softly, "I always knew you weren't that bad. Minato told me."
"Don't change the subject, what do you mean his license is revoked?" Toshinori asked in the most polite way possible. Nana replied, "He drove a quirkless kid into suicide this morning. He said, and I quote, 'I will enjoy watching his body splatter. The quirkless must be purged.'"
Nana shook her head in disbelief, "Such attitude is not acceptable by the Hero Public Safety Commission." She added.
Toshinori widened his eyes in shock, before clasping both of his hands in frustration, "A...and I tried to help him! How could I-"
Nana gave him a pat in the back, "Don't beat yourself up about it, kid. You couldn't have known. That information isn't released to the public yet."
"Well I did see an article of someone committing suicide this morning, but I didn't know Vigorous was behind it!" Toshinori yelled, "I should've finished the job..."
"I believe you do this because of someone special? A friend, perhaps?" Nana asked. Toshinori tried to reply, but Nana cut him off, "Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to pry into your life. Let's just take a walk and talk this out, I have something to ask you."
She then turned to the crowds, waving her hands, "Show's over, guys! Go back to your daily activities!"
They were confused as hell, but listened to the pro-hero's orders. After all, she is a pro-hero, and her words are to be trusted...well, mostly.
The crowds disbanded, returning to their daily activities, albeit a bit confused. Nana and Toshinori walked away from the building.
"So, do you know of the villain attack that happened three days ago? Vaccine-man? That rung a bell?" Nana asked bluntly. Toshinori gaped, Ah, shimatta..
"Hey? Toshi?" Nana waved her hand in front of Toshinori's face, "Earth to Toshi?"
Toshinori snapped out of his thoughts, before replying frantically, "A- ah! Yes! Yes, Shimura-san! I'm okay!" Nana laughed hysterically, "Why are you so damn funny when you're panicking!"
Toshinori blushed in embarrassment, "It wasn't that funny, though.."
Nana returned to her usual cool expression, "Okay, for real, the villain attack?"
Toshinori sighed, before replying, "Yes, I have heard of it." Nana gave him a menacing smile, "Was that you? That vigilante?"
Yep, I'm fucked.
"...yes...I know I killed that villain, it was an accident, but that's no excuse...but at least let me see a friend for the last time and...I can accept whatever punishm-" Toshinori was cut off when Nana laughed out loud once again, "Oh god! Oh god, you're so damn pure! So innocent!"
"...what?" Toshinori asked, confusion spreading on his expression.
"Ah dear, you didn't do much to earn yourself a punishment. The villain you killed wasn't a human. It was made of pollution, and we really have no idea how he formed into a humanoid creature. But what you did wasn't something against a human life, so don't worry about it. But what you have to worry about though..." Nana stared at Toshinori, before saying, "I knew of you and your vigilante acts. You're what the media calls, 'The vigilante whom disappears'."
Toshinori cringed at the ridiculous nickname the media gave him. Then he answered, "Shimura-san...I know I'm not supposed to do this, but..I can't just sit and stand idly as crime run free on the streets. I have the power to stop it, and I don't intend to waste my power."
"Then enroll yourself in U.A. You can make yourself a great hero there. I'm sorry, Toshi, but the law is the law." Nana warned.
Toshinori shook his head, "I'm sorry, I can't promise to not continue... And I can't wait for one to three years in UA just to get myself involved in the heroics. Crimes are common in this city, and I have the power to prevent them."
"Kid..." Nana sighed, "You're not listening to me. You can't use your quirk without a license, you'll just endanger yourself anyway. You're still young, you're not ready to enter the world of the pros, trust me, it's not pretty, I'm warning you, because it'll be a damn shame to see a good kid like you get killed like nothing out there. Villains have no mercy, they won't care if your intentions are noble or not, they'll devour you the moment you're in their way."
"No, I can't-" Toshinori was cut off by the heroine.
Nana put her hand on Toshinori's shoulders, "Let the pros handle this." She gave him a weak smile, "Don't throw yourself into our world just yet, you're still young. Focus on your life, kid, trust me, I have seen what you haven't seen. I..." She suddenly stopped mid-sentence, looking at the sky.
"Shimura-san?" Toshinori called out in concern, "Are you ..okay..?"
Nana looked at him immediately, before replying, "Nah! I'm fine..back to what I was saying..please, just listen to me, Toshi. Promise?"
Toshinori looked at her for a moment. Maybe he was being overconfident. Maybe he will meet his match if he continue on this ridiculous vigilante job of his, and possibly get killed...if that happens, who would protect Genos-san? What about his mother? Wouldn't she be hurt if she finds out that her only son died a horrible death all because of his sense of self-righteousness?
He sighed, "Fine. But if I see someone in need of help, and there's no pro-heroes around, I will help them. I will not wait and hesitate, got it, Shimura-san?"
Nana smiled, "In that case, that is pardonable, but if possible, try to call nearby pro-heroes. If there's nothing left to do, you can resort to that, got it? And also, only if they're regular villains, leave the bigger ones completely to us." Toshinori found her smile to be contagious, as he smiled himself.
This is one of the first pro-heroes that were actually decent, doesn't act like a major asshole, actually cares about the well-beings of the citizens she came across.
"I will try, Shimura-san. But for now, I really need to go home, my, ah, my friend needs me." Toshinori stated. Nana nodded, "In that case, you're free to go. And oh, don't worry about Vigorous coming back to kick your ass after his license is revoked. He's going to jail for 'inspiring' quirkless people to commit suicide." She gave him a peace sign, before walking away, "Take care, Toshi."
Nana found herself liking Toshinori. He was a nice kid, nicer than any of the kids she met these days. "Heh. He's funny, and crazy, but a good kid nonetheless."
Toshinori, on the other hand, found himself improving his opinion on the pro-heroes. Maybe not all heroes in this society are assholes. Some of them might be decent, as seen with Shimura Nana. She was, in fact, one of the first pro-heroes he met that acted decent towards him instead of being a major asshole just because he was quirkless.
Toshinori stopped his train of thoughts, before focusing on the road back home...
A few hours later...
Genos were waiting for Toshinori in front of the apartment building, slurping the ice cream that Yui bought for the both of them. "Ne, Akira-san," Yui called out, as Genos looked at her, "What is it, Yui-san?"
"You look nervous on your way here. What's wrong?" Yui asked with a small smile. Genos looked down, before saying, "I'm worried about him..about Toshinori."
Yui replied, "If I'm being honest, I am worried too... I doubt he's coming here in good terms with the pro-"
"I AM HERE!" A loud, bright voice came to their ears. As the wind breezes against their skins, Genos and Yui looked to see Toshinori, flexing a pose in front of them.
Yui went from a confused expression into an amused one, before laughing hysterically, "W- what?! What even is that...what even is that POSE- HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!" the red-haired girl laughed.
Toshinori sweat dropped while posing, "U- um..." Why the hell did I do this again?Genos, however, wasn't amused. He ran into the direction of Toshinori, before launching himself to hug the older teen, "TOSHINORI-KUUUUN!"
"H- hey there, Genos-san...are you alright?" Toshinori asked in concern while returning to his normal stance. Genos cried, "The hell do you mean 'alright'?! I was worried! About you!"
Toshinori scratched his head in embarrassment, "Yeah, sorry about that, but things went alright so far..." he reassured.
Genos removed himself from Toshinori, looking up at him with a wide smile, "Really?! Are you alright, Toshinori-kun?!"
"Kinda. I just found out that old geezer pushed a quirkless person into suicide, and now he got his license revoked and he will be serving in jail. A relief, at least." Toshinori's expression softened.
Genos nodded cheerfully, "Well, at least you're alright!"
Toshinori replied, "Well! Now that is out of the way," He pointed at Genos, "ARE YOU," before pointing at Yui too, "READY?!"
Genos saluted, before replying enthusiastically, "YES, SENSEI!" much to Toshinori's annoyance. Seriously? This again?
"...oh yeah I completely forgotten about that." Yui stated blankly. She is sooooo screwed.
Cue the training...
"30...!" Yui counted, her muscles aching as she pushed herself to do the push-ups. Seriously? We have to do this everyday?
She then looked at Genos, who was sweating a tsunami.
"50...!!" Genos muttered, doing another push-ups. FIFTY?! Yui was freaking out in her mind. Just how determined this boy is?!
Toshinori crossed his arms behind them. They were training in the usual spot, Dagobah Beach. "Good! Good! Keep going!" Toshinori walked around them, trying to raise their spirits.
"59...!" Genos counted with a heavy breath. "40...shit!" Yui cursed under her breath.
"I heard that!" Toshinori yelled while laughing, "Now, remember that I didn't make it through easily! You may be thinking, 'Should I get a rest'? No! If you want to be as strong as I am, then you must clench your butt cheeks and prepare for whatever hardship this training regime will put you through!"
This continued on longer than they expected. After finishing the push-ups, they had to do a hundred sit-ups, and a hundred squats, followed along with ten kilometres running.
Yui felt like she was going to die, the same goes to Genos. "S...seriously... Yagi-san...how..how did you manage to go through this...FOR A YEAR AND A HALF?!"
"Determination, motivated by noble motivations, that is the key." Toshinori explained.
"Okay, now you're just stating the obvious-" Yui was cut off when Genos bowed his head, "Thank you for the guidance, Sensei! I will keep your words in my mind!"
Yui rolled her eyes, Is he just taking everything the guy tells him?
Toshinori looked at them awkwardly. Yeah, I'm a bad teacher alright..
"Will I be as strong as you, sensei?!" Genos asked one more time, his enthusiasm rising. Toshinori looked at him with confusion. Shit, what should I say, what should I say?! Hmm..oooohh...
He then said in an awkward motion, "Well, you see, Genos...it's..not about raw strength or techniques..it's...about acquiring a better mindset to achieve greater..." He looked around to find an inspiration, but he found none, so he finished with, "...strength.."
Yui looked at him as if he was the dumbest person in the entire world, "...seriously?"
But Genos quickly bowed, "Yes, sensei! I will keep your wisdom and great teachings in my mind!"
Yui stared at him, before saying, "Oi, you do realise-"
Genos cut her off, "THANK YOU SO MUCH, SENSEI!" Yui groaned, "Man, whatever!"
She then looked at Toshinori, "Well, your teachings might seem...a little bit questionable..." She finished with something that are not too offensive, before continuing "But thank you for spending your time to train us." She then smiled widely.
Toshinori laughed nervously, "Y- yeah, sorry about that...I'm not exactly the brightest person..eh, you know? Hahah..." He finished awkwardly.
"Welp, I should be going home! My parents might get worried and holy hell, I'm sweating a lot! See ya later, Yagi-san!" Yui bid him her farewell, but Toshinori called her out, "Hey, wait! At least let me treat you to this one ramen joint so you could store some energy!"
"No. I'm good, Yagi-san, thank you very much. See ya!" She waved him off, before walking away.
Toshinori then looked at Genos awkwardly, before saying, "...so"
Genos looked at him, "Yes, sensei?!"
Toshinori slapped his forehead, "Stop it with this 'sensei' thing." Genos didn't listen however, before replying with a completely different topic, "Are you hungry, Sensei?!"
Irritating.
Toshinori sighed, "Yup, want a round of ramen?" Genos nodded, "Yes, sensei!"
Toshinori then wrapped one of his arm around Genos's sweaty shoulders, "Hah! You should probably shower after this. You stink a lot!" He laughed while bluntly stating that.
Genos's expression turned into a frown, before panicking, "I'm so sorry if my hygiene bothers you, sensei!"
Toshinori laughed, "Oi, I didn't say you did anything wrong, I was just messing around." He then gave him a hard pat, "Lighten up, drop the act. I'm your friend, not your 'sensei'!"
Both of them laughed as they walked into the sun. What a beautiful friendship indeed.
That's it for today's chapter! To be continued!
