We're gonna go forward a bit, I hope that's fine with you guys. I don't know why but it feels right to fast forward this chapter to something with some sadness into it, we're going in two years later. So, I guess Lincoln is 4 years old in this one now. Enjoy reading.
Mother to my cloned brother.
(Sunset Canyon.)
Not too far from the retirement home is a purple car that belongs to Luna, and inside is Sam and their 4 year old son Lincoln. It's been two years and he is now a walking, talking and curios little boy.
"Mommy Luna, when are we going inside to see Pop-pop?" asked the white-haired little boy.
Luna sighs and looks to her phone. "Just be patient my love, we have to wait for your auntie Leni to say when we can." She then places her phone onto the dash board.
Lincoln smiles and hugs Bun-Bun. "Okay mommy Luna." He then continues to play with his stuffed rabbit, which amuses Luna and Sam.
Sam then whispers to Luna. "I can't believe those others are here as well. What the heck does this even matter to them or Albert?" she seems a bit frustrated and annoyed.
"Pop-pop is family even to those who made so many wrongs, but he understand when we gotta keep our distance" replied Luna. "Now we just gotta be patient and wait for either Leni or Luan to give us the go ahead." Luna then kisses Sam's cheek.
They then remain there in silence and wait for the others to come out and get back into their rides and leave, seeing Vanzilla was enough to tick off Luna.
Then Luna's phone rings. She checks and sees whose it from. Leni: Okay, we're heading out now. Once we get into our cars and drive off, then you guys can go in next to greet Pop-pop. Luna sighs. "Okay, almost there you guys, then we can go and ….. And say goodbye to … Po-pop." She sheds a tear.
Sam then places a hand onto her shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, we'll get through this. All of us." Lincoln remains silent, he too is upset that his great grandpa won't be around longer.
Luna and Sam then spot Leni and Luan coming out of Sunset Canyon and heading to their car, not too far behind them are Lori, Lynn Jr, Rita and Lynn Sr. She can see Rita in tears and not looking happy.
Luna knows it's painful for Rita to see her father on the bed and close to the verge of death, this was not going to be easy for all of them, the others were also in tears the man who is their grandfather was going to pass away. They then head to their rides and drive off.
Luna sighs in relief. 'Finally!' She then drives her car into the driveway and parks it. "Okay guys, let's go and see Pop-pop" said Luna, she then turns off the car's engine.
Luna and Sam get out of the car and the open the passenger door to let Lincoln out, he holds onto Sam's hand as they head into the retirement home. Sam looks down to her son. "Are you gonna be okay kiddo?"
Lincoln sighs. "Why does Pop-pop have to go mommy Sam? Why does he have to go away like what happened to Mr. Guppy?" Sam and Luna recall Lincoln's pet goldfish when it died and he then understood about the meaning of death.
They really have to stop him from watching animal documentaries.
"Linky, sometimes we don't know why or when" replied Luna. "But fate has a hard and painful time to do these kinds of things to other people."
"When we get older, like really old we can't be around much longer" said Sam. "Pop-pop has been around for as long as some of us know and everyone has limits and Pop-pop has reached his. Do you understand buddy?"
Lincoln sighs. "Yeah, I think so. I know people can't do many things like great heroes with more than one power and eventually they gotta let things go. Right?" He looks up to his mom's.
Luna and Sam smile, but it was also kinda painful for them to see Lincoln sad. He really does understand things now, his memories are coming to him at a steady pace. He tends to recall loving comic books and he is now fond of video games, but he knows he's not ready to play them until he's either eight or ten years old. He's patient and a bit clever, the man with the plan is close to coming back into the mind of this child.
They walk through the halls and Luna could swear she saw an abandoned scooter left in a room. It kinda reminded her of an old lady who was a bit mean and rude at times. Who was she again?
Then they see it, Albert's room. "This is it guys" Luna looks to Lincoln. "Are you sure you wanna do this sweetie?"
Lincoln takes a deep breath and sighs. "Yeah, I wanna do this. I … I wanna say goodbye to Pop-pop, one last time mommy Luna."
Both women know it's gonna be painful to do, but they all wanna say their goodbyes to the veteran. Luna turns the door knob and they walk in. They see the room looked exactly like it was from way back, Lincoln looks around and whenever he comes by to visit the whole place seems familiar like he was here once before.
They then see the elderly man on the bed, Albert Willard, on the bed with a heart monitor next to him and some machines trying to keep him alive and well. Next to him is a picture of when he first met Myrtle, sad to say she passed away before him. A year after Lincoln was born.
Albert, the 96 year old man opens his eyes and smiles seeing the sight of his musically inclined granddaughter. "Hey there … Luna, and Sam." He slowly sits up. "Now, where's my look alike?"
"I'm here Pop-pop" Luna helps Lincoln onto the bed, Pop-pop gives him a hug.
"There he is, the kid with the same snow cap as I do" chuckled Pop-pop. "So, how are things going with you kiddo?"
"Well, I start kindergarten next week" replied Lincoln. "I'm a bit nervous, but I know I can pull through and make some friends, if I can" He then sighs. "I wish you can be there for me longer Pop-pop, I'm gonna miss you so much." Lincoln sheds a lone tear.
Pop-pop knows he's upset. "I'm gonna miss you too kiddo, sure wish I could be around longer but I gotta make my way to where you're Gran-Gran is, she would've loved to meet you." He then kisses his forehead." But chin up Linc, even though I'm not gonna be around I will still be with you, in your memories and … in your heart."
Lincoln starts to cry and hug Albert, he hugs the crying child and sheds some tears. He just got Lincoln back after his death all those years ago, and now he is close to having his life taken away and he never got a chance to watch his grandson grow up and regain the memories of all the fun they had back when he was still eleven.
They then break the hug. "It'll be okay Lincoln, I want you to be who you wanna be and make decisions that can help others and also keep an eye on your mom's you're all they got. Can you do that for me kiddo?" asked Albert.
Lincoln wipes away his tears and nods. "Y-Yeah, I … I'll t-try … P-Pop-pop, I'll try."
Albert smiles and Lincoln goes over to Sam, she picks up her son and hugs him. Sam then looks to Albert. "Good by Albert, I wish I knew you and hung out with you more."
Albert chuckles. "No need to apologize Sam, keeping your family safe is truly understandable. You take care now." Sam smiles hearing this, she never really had a grandpa before. He died when she was two.
Sam then decides that Luna and Albert should have some alone time. "Come on Linc, let's let your mom talk to your grandpa okay?" Lincoln could tell that his mom Luna, has some talking to do with Pop-pop.
"Okay mommy Sam" He then looks back. "Goodbye Pop-pop, I'll always remember you."
Albert smiles and sheds a tear. "So long kiddo, I'll be watching over you. Always." Sam and Lincoln then leave the room, giving Luna and Albert some alone time to talk.
"Luna sweetie, please sit" said Albert. Luna comes closer and sits by the edge of the bed. "Anything bothering ya Lunes?"
Luna sighs. "Pop-pop, have …. Have you ever wondered how the others are doing? The younger ones, and I don't mean just Lisa."
Albert sighs. "I've been asking that myself sometimes, whenever it's a holiday I always wonder how Lana, Lola, Lucy and Lisa are up to, I know they're not here and living their own lives elsewhere across Michigan. I'd like to see em, but I know that ain't gonna be possible. Also Lisa was here and she was kinda a mess when she heard I was gonna leave, I gave her one last Lisa hug." Albert chuckles a bit.
Luna then pulls out a paper and hands it to him. "What's this?"
"A plan" replied Luna. Albert opens it and is shocked at what it says. "You see Po-pop, I was wondering if this could be an opportunity and a chance to see them, all of them and I know you don't have time to meet, greet and say goodbye, it's a long way for them to come here and they won't make it to see you leave."
Albert looks to Luna and smiles, he does shed a tear. "Well, even if I do go before they go. I have a better idea on how to bring back the family into a small reunion, and I'm okay whether I don't make it or not. Just as long as they get to see the kid they once saw as their brother" Luna smiles, she was glad he was onboard with this. "So, what's the plan sweetie?"
Luna then whispers to his ear, this makes him smile. "So, is it a good plan? You don't have to be part of it Po-pop."
Albert chuckles. "Whether in life or death, I'll always be there to look after my family. Even if they did do so much wrongs in the past, they're still family to me. Let's do it."
Luna then gives her grandfather one last hug and cries. "I love you so much Pop-pop, I'm gonna miss you."
Albert hugs her back. "I love you too Luna, and don't let my passing be the meaning of an end, just know that like Lincoln I'll always be around, to watch him grow up and all of you try and rekindle what was lost long ago." They then break the hug. Albert wipes away one of her tears and kisses her forehead. "The people here will be sure to inform you if it does happen to me and I'll ask them to have these letters copied and sent ….. To them."
Luna smiles. "Thank you Pop-pop. Thank you, for everything. You're the very reason why I always have a bond with Lincoln, because we used to have that kind of fun back then, when I was eleven and found nothing in my talent."
Albert smiles. "Then I'm lucky to be your inspiration. Now, you should go to your son now, he needs his mother."
Luna gets up and heads to the door, but she looks back and waves goodbye to Pop-pop, and he waves goodbye to her and smiles. "So long Luna, see you in the next time kiddo." Luna smiles and then leaves the room.
Albert sighs and he places the note onto the table nearby and lays on his pillow. He recalls the first time he saw his grandson, the day when Rita and Lynn Sr came into the house with the baby in their arms. Pop-pop was given permission to hold him, but he wanted Luna to hold Lincoln. He knew she deserved to hold him first, after all the times she tries to ding to the still in the womb baby, those were some good times.
Then he recalls 4 years ago, when he heard about Luna having a baby and then when he went to the baby's first birthday and he saw what the infant looked like, exactly like his deceased grandson Lincoln. Then Luna, Sam and Lisa informed everyone who attended the party about who he is, what's his name and where he came from. It was there Albert recalls almost having a heart attack, but calmed down when they explained everything. Some part of Pop-pop thought it was wrong, but then he felt a presence within the one year old baby and smiled knowing that this was Lincoln's choice, and he accepted it and also held the secret to not let the other family members anywhere near the infant, he wouldn't want them to do something drastic that could make them even worse than they were in the past when they treated him like bad luck.
He does recall the looks of shock when Rita and Lyn Sr were told that Pop-pop knows about all of this and also agrees with Luna, to not let them anywhere near Lincoln or near Luna and Sam.
It pained him to say that to his own daughter, but he knew it was the right thing. He was glad that Leni and Luan were now part of the small family circle of Luna, Sam and Lincoln, and he might not be around, but he'll be there for when Lincoln does regain his memories, memories of good times when he was still alive, when he was still Lincoln Loud.
(A Month Later.)
The church bells toll, and those who have known Albert Willard have come, to watch him finally see peace.
A lot of his very old pals have come to see this and offer their condolences to the man who was once the most active elderly dude around.
Also there are Detectives StoneHeart and Merris, why? Because they're waiting for the arrival of Luna and Sam, and their son. Currently the louds: Lori, Leni, Luan, Lynn Jr, Rita and Lynn Sr are already inside, and Lisa (age 15.) is there as well with her family to wish the deceased elderly man goodbye. Lynn Sr and Rita were shocked that Lisa was there, but they understood that Pop-pop was her family too, but they knew that Luna, Sam and Lincoln will also come. It didn't take them long to figure out that they went to Sunset Canyon a month ago to see Pop-pop.
Right now they're trying to make sure bad things don't go down as this happens, but the two detectives noticed that their work is about to get even harder. The Two detectives see some people they did not expect to be there.
Then, Sam's car arrives and stepping out both dressed in black are Luna, Sam and their 4 year old son Lincoln. All three of them weren't feeling happy about this day, and it's not just because of the former rents being there, they then see the two detectives and approach them.
"Hey guys, are they inside?" asked Luna. She then sees more vehicle parked nearby.
"They are, all of them" said Merris. She looks to the church.
Sam and Luna nod. "Thanks guys, we'll take it from here" said Sam.
"Be careful in there, we got like ten snipers standing by with sleep darts in case things turn from bad to worse" replied StoneHeart.
"We know" replied Luna. She holds onto her son's hand tightly, as to not let him go. "This is it guys, time to say goodbye." Sam and Lincoln nod. 'And hello.'
They step through the church doors and they see four figures who they thought they never would've seen again.
At the age of 19 is Lucy Shapiro, a full grown woman and looking pretty beautiful as well. She still has black hair and her eyes are unseen, normally she would hate the church but not this time. She has gotten over her gothic phase and is now an author to the book, the White-Haired Boy.
Now 17, the twins Lola and Lana seem like they're in College, gone was there love for wearing pink and being dirty. Lola know teaches dancing classes and is less of a mean spirit and Lana is a full dreamer on mechanics and wishes to open her own mechanic shop.
And finally, Lily D. Pingrey. The once baby of the louds is now 13, this teenager has grown elegantly and he hair has reached her back, her single buck tooth is now gone, but she never knew who her original family. That was until Carol told her, everything and how it all went down.
All of the louds see Lily, Rita wants to hug her but the presence of the police says otherwise and to the fact Lily doesn't wanna interact with any of them, but there was one person she wants to see and talk to. The one who fought hard to save Lincoln, Luna.
Lincoln was kinda confused by the many people who came there to see Pop-pop. "Momma Luna, Mommy Sam. Why are there so many people here to see Pop-pop leave? I know he has some old friends from his days of fighting, but why are there like so many teen people? Besides Auntie's Lisa, Luan and Leni." His curiosity was enough to make them smile.
"Baby, listen to me. There will be a time when I will tell you all you need to know about what is really happening. But you gotta be patient okay baby?" said Luna.
Lincoln has known that something was always off within the family he has known and loves, but he understands that things are a bit complicated. "Okay momma, I'll be patient." He then looks to the other people, normally the former louds. "I'll just call them …. Pop-pop's friends."
Luna and Sam smile. "That's a good little kid" said Sam as she kisses his forehead. They then walk to where they will see Pop-pop. Unknown to them that Rita, Lynn Sr, Lori and Lynn Jr are looking at them, they all wanna see Lincoln, but now is not the right time. With all these people, it could end badly.
Lucy however sees Lincoln and gasps, she then nudges Lola and Lana and they are shocked to see the little boy with Luna and Sam. 'It can't be. Could it? Lincoln?' Lucy has so much questions now.
Sam then picks up Lincoln and carries him so he may see his resting grandfather. Lincoln sighs and sheds a lone tear. "G-Goodbye … Pop-pop, I'll m-miss you." then Luna notices a glimmer in his eyes and he lets some tears fall. "I'll never forget what we did from before Pop-pop, always." Then the glimmer is gone.
This shocks Luna and Sam, what Lisa says is true. Lincoln is regaining memories of his past of who he was and what he did. They know it'll take time and he will understand everything. Soon, Lincoln Loud will be back, soon. And when he does, that's when the family has to come together, all of them.
Luna then goes over to Pop-pop, while Sam and Lincoln go over to the seats, next to Lily. Luna sighs as she looks to her grandfather. He looks so peaceful in his sleep, she knows that he's in a better place and that he'll be watching over them from the stars. "So long Pop-pop, thank you … For being there for me and Lincoln, and I know you'll still be there for us. All of us." She then takes out a picture of when she was very young and playing with Pop-pop and she places it in his hand. She then walks over to where his wife and son are and sits in between Lily and Sam.
Lily then looks to her. "H-Hi … Luna." Luna sighs and looks to Lily, Tristen, Elena and Carol smile seeing this. "D-Do you … Do you r-remember, me?" Lily is a bit nervous and holds Luna's hand.
Luna then hugs Lily and cries. "I never forget about you little sister." Lily sheds some tears and hugs her back. This confused Lincoln a bit, but he knows he has to be patient. But some part of him just …. Smiles, as if this is a scene he has seen before, but where.
The other louds and former louds just watch, as their youngest is embracing Luna.
(Skip, after the whole service.)
Luna is sitting on a bench next to Lily. Lily is shocked but seems calm as she watches Sam playing with Lincoln nearby. "So, that really is him? He's in there?"
"Yeah, he is" replied Luna. "That four year old boy is the big brother you once knew, the one you lost years ago." Luna sighs. "I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you before, but you and the Pingrey's became distant and left Royal Woods."
"I understand Luna" said Lily. "Do the others know?" Luna and Lily see the other louds and former louds talking to some other people and not each other.
Luna had to tell her. "Leni and Luan are forgiven, they never meant for Lincoln to be taken from us so soon, Lisa still doesn't forgive herself. Sadly, the actual Louds know about him and I suspect their up to something and I gotta take all precautions to keep Linky safe. As for Lucy, Lola and Lana. They don't know."
"Good" said Lily. "I know about everything, Carol told me, my dad told me, my mom told me and I looked it up." Lily's hand turns into a fist. "What they did to Lincoln was evil and truly cruel! I don't want anything to do with any of them after what they did to my ….. My brother!" She starts to cry and Luna hugs her.
"I hate them too little dude, but we all have to come back together sometime" replied Luna as she continues to comfort Lily.
They then break the hug. "The reunion, I know. I'll be there for sure, I wanna be there to keep an eye of Lincoln and to make sure those monsters don't go anywhere near him." Lily then sees Sam letting Lincoln go to her, the boy looks shy and nervous.
"Hi" said Lincoln.
Lily chuckled at his cute and shy nature. "Hey there, my names Lily and you must be Lincoln."
Lincoln looks to her. "Yeah, I am" then the glimmer in his eyes come back and he smiles. "Hi Lily, you grew up. That's nice." then the glimmer fades and it was back to Lincoln. "C-Can I …. Can I sit here, next to my momma?"
Lily is shocked at first, but then she smiles. "Come here." She picks him up and lets him sit in between them. Rita and Lynn Sr are at a loss for words, Lily just confronted Lincoln and was happy to see him. Slowly they knew, they were losing their chances to getting near Lincoln.
Luna then strokes her son's hair and kisses his forehead. "Lincoln, this girl Lily. She's my sister, the youngest in the family." Lily is shocked that Luna would call her that.
Lincoln looks to the teenager. "A-Are you my … Auntie? Like Luan and Leni?"
Lily sheds some tears and chuckles. "Yes, yes I am Linky." Lincoln goes over and hugs her and she hugs him back. "Oh, Lincoln." Leni and Luan awe at this, they know this secret is out anyway and they go over and also join in the embrace. Lily was glad to see them there in this hug as well.
Rita, Lynn Sr, Lynn Jr and Lori couldn't believe it, those two are no longer in the restraining order!
Carol and Lily's adopted parents smile, they know that this was the rekindled love of the former family. Then Tristen has an idea. "Hey, I was given a promotion right? To be the new chief of police to anywhere within Michigan."
"Yes dear, why are you bringing this up?" asked Elena. Then she goes wide eyed and understands, she smiles and hugs him. "This is for Lily, and for Lincoln."
Carol then smiles, she understands what he means. "I think that's a good idea uncle Tristen." they then watch as Sam joins into the hug. Lily was now part of the family circle along with Luan and Leni. Carol and her auntie and uncle already know about Lincoln from Lisa, they were also in this little family circle.
Then they see something that could be bad. "Oh no" Slowly approaching the group, are Lucy, and the twins.
"Luna?" they stop chatting and they all turn around and see Lucy, Lola and Lana. "Luna, is that …. Lincoln?" asked Lucy.
Leni picks up Lincoln and makes sure he's facing away from them. "Umm, Auntie Leni. What's going on?" asked the curious 4 year old.
Sam and Lily get up and try to get in between Lucy and the twins, the officers nearby get ready in case things escalate. But Luna gets up. "Stop." They all look to her. "Let me speak to them."
Sam and Lily back off and they let Luna go to her former younger siblings. "I know you three have questions, but the answers you seek won't come to you girls yet. Please, please be patient. I'll tell you guys when it's time to see him, when the reunion begins" she looks to all three of them sternly. "Understand?"
Lucy, Lola and Lana sigh and nod. "We understand Luna" said Lana. "We won't … push it or go near him" replied Lola.
"But …. When the time comes, can we know what happened and why he's …. Back?" asked Lucy.
Luna sighs. "When the time is right Luce, when the time is right." she then goes over to Leni, she hands Luna Lincoln and she looks to Sam. "We should go now Sammy." Sam nods and gets to the car.
Luna then goes over to Lily. Lincoln then looks to her. "Goodbye Linky, I hope we can see each other again."
Lincoln is then let down to the ground, runs over and hugs Lily. "I hope we can see each other again too Auntie Lily." Lily hugs him back.
They soon break the hug, Lincoln goes over to Luna and holds her hand and they walk back to their car. Lincoln does look back, smiles and waves goodbye to Leni, Luan and Lily. 'I'll see you soon brother, and I hope you can still remember me.'
