A brother's sponsibility
Tommy held the responsibility watch Stu had given him close to his chest. He had been with his daddy while Trixie was taking a nap and though he had no idea what responsibility meant, his daddy's words echoed in his head.
"I know this is a lot to take in Champ but you're Trixie's protector as a big brother so no matter what happens, always make sure she's safe."
Tommy had only babbled in response to his daddy's words but took them to heart as he heard Trixie wailing.
"What are you doing?!" He gasped, seeing Phil and Lil carry his little sister over to his daddy's Reptar wagon.
"We were just going to take her to the hopsicle so she can go to the baby store," Lil explained.
"Yeah. What's gotten into you anyways? You're always ready for an adventure Tommy!" Phil argued.
Tommy shook his head. "Not this time. First you wake Trixie up from her nap which I know not to do and now you wanna take her somewheres we wouldn't know how to get to?!" He walked over to the wagon and picked up Trixie to the best of his ability, rubbing her back like his mommy would do whenever he cried. "Phil, Lil, this is the worstest thing you've ever done! You can't touch my sister no more!"
Trixie's wails turned to sniffles as the babies around her look conflicted.
"Tommy isn't that just a little unfair?" Chuckie asked softly.
"Chuckie, I know what's fair. Sharing's fair, waiting for Mommy to feed Trixie is fair so letting Phil and Lil not touch my sister again after they tried to take her to the hopsicle without me knowing is fair," Tommy reasoned.
Phil and Lil stayed away from him for the rest of the afternoon as his words sunk in around bedtime.
As for Tommy, he stayed out of Angelica's way while she watched her cartoons as he and Trixie watched their daddy's Reptar wagon be carried away in a big box.
