Ugh, I only watched like, the main episodes of the show so I really had no idea! But that's okay, I'm sorry for the inconvenience! xD, but I hope you'll enjoy the main story that I have in store without that ball sack punching thing..Enjoy this chapter!
Yokohama, Kamino Ward...
Amidst the busy and lively city, stood there a figure, standing over a large building, overseeing the many cars passing by and the pedestrians.
The figure had a shoulder length blue hair, wearing a white dress that exposed her blue curvature clothings in the middle. She also wore a glasses, behind it was her green eye.
Behind the looming figure, suddenly, a purple slimy portal was formed. The figure let out a subtle "Tch...", as she looked back in annoyance, as the white-haired man in a businessmen suit emerged out of the portal.
"Have you been into sight-seeing nowadays, Psykos? I thought a misanthrope like you would hate how the environment are 'ruined' by the creations of men." All For One asked, smiling amusedly.
Psykos growled, "You do know I'm not in the mood for jests, right?"
"Right, you want an update." All For One sighed, "The doctor is almost done with project esper. It should give you the power to obliterate an entire country, comparable to my quirk."
"And, I suppose, after I do receive that power, I have the obligation give you the challenge you desire?" Psykos asked, eyeing him. All For One chuckled, "You know me well, Psykos. That was the price we agreed on."
"I hoped that you'd forget about that, but I guess not," Psykos said, a subtle tone of disappointment was heard in her voice.
"Even if you don't want to, I could just stand in your way when you get to your 'human extermination' conquest." All For One said again, crossing his arms.
"Fine. But don't blame me when I stain this city with your body parts." Psykos threatened, and All For One, felt oddly excited. "That would be better than an entire century of boredom, honestly. But I have one thing to tell you though."
"What?" Psykos asked one more time.
All For One replied, "The monster cell may give you a tremendous amount of boost in power, but it's incompatible with the human body. Your organs will slowly melt as your quirk began to destroy your body on the inside out."
"Is that supposed to scare me? I have a mission to complete, and I'm willing to do anything in order to accomplish it." Psykos replied with determination.
All For One laughed slightly, amused, "Lunatics and their crusade.." He whispered.
"What was that?!" Psykos shouted in irritation. All For One replied, "Nothing. Anyway, what I was going to say was, I and the doctor will try our best to minimize the damage it'll cause to your body. We had some things planned out and I think... We're going to test the cells on some poor, little children that we can find out there."
"Do what you have to, just make sure it works." Psykos demanded. "Of course, of course, after all, I have to rekindle my battle spirit. We'll try our best to not mess this up." All For One reassured.
Psykos then felt the need to ask, "What about One for All? What if it gives you the challenge you wanted so much? Would you abandon this project and leave me in the dark?"
All For One laughed out loud, "One for All is hopeless. Nothing can be done about it. The bitch who had the quirk isn't even competent enough to find a new successor. I threatened her son, and still, she couldn't find a successor to the quirk."
"You threatened her son without actually meaning it. Are you getting softer?" Psykos teased. All For One grunted, "Wrong. The bitch was smart, I'll give her that. She erased her son from her family records and hid him somewhere. I would've killed that brat without a second thought. Annoying runt." He grumbled.
"Ah," Psykos looked away, "Nevermind."
"What? Disappointed? As if you were any different." All For One spat back. Psykos didn't say anything, ignoring the villainous man. All For One sighed in annoyance at being neglected.
All For One then shifted his eyes to his watch, before saying, "Ah, I believe that I have to go."
Psykos replied with a nod, "Keep me updated with the project." All For One spoke again, "Now you speak. As it seems, you only care about the project, don't you?"
Psykos pouted, "What? Am I supposed to care about you?"
All For One gave her a disappointed look, before opening a portal with his hand, "I'm just used to being kissed in the ass by my followers. I guess you're not like them."
Psykos looked away, and didn't say anything.
She scowled behind his back, though.
All For One then vanished as the portal engulfed him. All that's left is Psykos, still standing over and overseeing the lively civilization bellow her.
"Soon, death will come." Psykos whispered, as her eyes lit up in a blue light.
...The Next Day...
School was...boring, to say the least. There was nothing to do except for the extracurricular activities as usual. Oh, and he just got his report card, and his grades was...not bad, compared to the average student. Yagi couldn't wait until the Graduation Ceremony, which will be held in two days time, and finally be free from this school.
He hoped that he would never have to see Masashi and Mezo again, though he knew that he would most likely see them again in U.A, part of him hoped that they will receive a bad result on their exam, both practical and written.
He knew it was evil, but he just couldn't help it.
Dammit, I shouldn't think like that! A hero shouldn't think like that!
He mentally berated himself. Masashi and Mezo were assholes, especially towards Genos, though they toned it down a bit after that incident with Tatsumaki.
Yes, they were assholes, but that doesn't mean he should wish the worst outcome on them. That's not okay, and that's not something that a hero would do.
As he exited the school, he noticed Genos, walking slowly out of the gate. "Genos..." He whispered under his breath.
Nana can wait for a little bit, he had to go and greet his best friend. Genos hasn't spoken to him for the entirety of the day. It was almost baffling. Genos admired Yagi, and they usually talk the most when it was lunch break, but now, the once cheery Genos didn't even bother to speak a word to him. He mostly stayed in the class, pondering about something that Yagi didn't know about. It was almost worrying.
Plus, he noticed the black marks near his eyes. Genos hadn't been sleeping.
As Yagi got closer, he called out, "Yo!"
Genos was startled, and looked back, only to see Yagi smiling at him, "What's with the long face, Genos?"
"H- hey.." Genos replied back, his face still looked gloomy as ever.
"You okay there? Is something wrong?" Yagi asked in concern, "We haven't talked all day, you know.." He said. Genos stared at him, before looking down, "It's okay, it's nothing.."
Yagi didn't say anything for a split second, before deciding to go over a much better topic, "Woah!" Yagi eyed the lower part of Genos's body, "You sure have been working out a lot, huh, Genos? Was it working? My training regime?"
"It.." Genos was about to say something, but held it back, before saying, and Yagi knew, that what he was going to say is different than before, "Yeah. It worked. It...really worked." Genos spoke.
"You suuuure?" Yagi nudged him gently with his shoulder, "I mean I can understand if it didn't. I just got this power mysteriously. I don't even know if my training regime was the one that caused it."
Genos didn't say anything, once again. Yagi frowned slightly, disappointed that his friend isn't going to say anything. He has been acting different lately. And he didn't even know why!
Yagi decided not to annoy his friend even further. If anything, he might be more of an annoyance than being helpful to Genos. He can ask him what's wrong later. Maybe Genos needed time to adjust. Maybe that incident a few days ago affected him more than it should.
But then, Genos decided to speak, "Toshi, I.. I'm sorry if I haven't spoken to you. I have nothing against you, I really don't. I still admire you, and to me.. you're still the strongest person I've ever met. I'm sorry, I just don't know what to say, I didn't know what to talk about... I'm sorry." Yagi, who was about to leave him be and say goodbye, stared at him for a couple of seconds.
Yagi's expression softened, before patting him in the back, "What are you talking about?! Don't apologize! Don't worry about it. Take your time, dude. It's not like my life ends if you don't talk to me. I was just worried, you know? Are you sure you're okay? Look at your eyes.. it's pale and dull."
Genos shook his head, "No, I'm okay, don't worry about me." Genos replied back. He then sighed, before saying, "I'm sorry, I have to go.."
"Okay then! Take care, Genos. You know, if you need something, if you need to talk.." Yagi flashed a thumbs up with a grin, "I'll be there."
Genos fought the urge to smile, but he did anyways. He laughed slightly, before saying, "T- thanks...for everything.." He then walked away.
Yagi was taken aback by his last sentence. His best friend isn't okay. He knew it. But he needed to give Genos more space before he can talk it out with him.
"You're.." Yagi stopped, before sighing, "Welcome, Genos..."
Genos sobbed as he walked, his tears soaking his clothing. Yagi, his best friend, the image of him smiling...
And then it shifted to an image of him dying. Yelping. Begging. He remembered the nightmare vividly. The image of his best friend, murdered without mercy by the Subterraneans.
He was stressed. Thinking of multiple possibilities. Possibilities of how it could go wrong. Yagi, in his recklessness and stubbornness, willingly sacrificed his life to beat the attacking villains from a few days ago. The image was engraved to his brain.
It was giving him countless anxieties. It was too much, that he was losing the ability to sleep gradually. There was a bit of a black mark near his eyes, courtesy of his gradual insomnia.
Even seeing Yagi himself only causes him to stress out. It was too much. He couldn't handle the stress.
He clenched his fist, having the determination to be strong, to grow into an independent person that needs no protection.
He needed to be strong, so that Yagi wouldn't protect him anymore. He wanted to be the one doing the protecting for once, not the other way around. But he can't! He was too pathetic. There was nothing special about him. Nothing!
He used the training regime Yagi provided, but it bore no fruit at all. Nothing was working. He was still the same, quirkless, and pathetic boy he once was.
He wiped his tears, as he continued to walk towards his house...he needed to train more, even if it fails, he had to try. He has to go beyond his limits, plus ultra style, as the U.A motto often says...
Soba Noodle House..
Yagi groaned. Out of all the places she could've used, she had to choose the place where he worked.
Yagi looked as the door to the restaurant opened. Nana was wearing a casual clothing and a brown jeans, waving her hand with a smile, "Heyya, Toshi!"
Yagi smiled back, "Shimura-san.." He bowed his head slightly. Nana rolled her eyes, "Get off that act already. Keep the formalities off already! You can call me Nana."
Yagi widened his eyes, "W- what?! That is so-"
Nana interrupted, "Shhh, shh, shh," She hushed him, "Let's sit somewhere. You can order whatever crap you like, it's my treat." She then read the numbers of the table, before choosing the one in the middle, "Let's sit there."
Yagi raised his brow. What has gotten into her?
As they sat, a waiter came with a paper filled with the menu's of the restaurant. The waiter then gave Yagi a look of familiarity, noticing him as the janitor of the restaurant who works in the weekends, before asking them, "May I have your order, please?" He said, politely.
Nana then turned her head to Yagi, asking him, "Anything delicious you want to order, Toshi?"
"Just...Udon noodles." Yagi replied. Nana then ordered her plate too, "I'd like to order a Yakisoba. Oh and don't forget to add two mineral water in the menu, okay?"
He wrote the orders in the order pad, before saying, "Your order will be served soon. Thank you." The waiter bowed politely, before going to the chef to issue the order.
"So.." Nana began to speak, "Is this the place where you work?"
Yagi sweat dropped, "Shimura-san, I want to ask..have you been stalking me?" Nana laughed, "Not really stalking, just observing."
T- that's literally the same thing! Yagi deadpanned in his mind.
"What? You have potential, I just see that in you, So I observed you." Nana spoke again. Yagi sighed, "I know, Shimura-san, but I can't help but feel that it's a little bit...creepy."
"Creepy? I kid you not, kid, I don't have any creepy intentions towards you. You just have potential as a hero." Nana replied again. Yagi laughed slightly, "If you say so, Shimura-san..."
Nana then changed the topic, "Anyway, last night, I read that message of yours. You said you needed help, right?" Yagi nodded, before replying, "Shimura-san, I need your advise on-"
"Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast," Nana interrupted, "Remember, we were going to talk about a certain teenager going into a certain event, putting himself in danger even after a certain someone reprimanded him."
Yagi nervously stared at the pro-hero, unable to muster any words to explain himself. All he could think of is to try the same test run he did with Gran Torino. But before he can even consider to do it, Nana spoke up again,
"Sorahiko told me the details, how you gave him some sort of 'test run' to make your point. He even said that we should support your vigilantism..honestly, I don't know what he's thinking when he said that."
Shit. She already knows. Of course she already knows! Gran Torino is her friend! Goddammit, this won't work!
"Ah, yes, a- about that.." Yagi nervously gulped, "Well-"
Nana sighed, before interrupting him, "You really weren't listening to me, were you?" Yagi frantically waved his hand in front of him, "N- no! I listened, Shimura-san, I did! But..but.."
"But what? I would never be able to live on knowing that I just let a kid like you die on my watch. The fact that I almost failed in my duty as a hero saddens me." Nana replied again, "I failed to make you listen to my words."
Yagi's expression softened, "I'm sorry, Shimura-san.." He said, before continuing, "I just feel like I have the responsibility-"
Nana interrupted again, raising her voice, "You don't have any responsibility, don't be ridiculous! You're not even a pro-hero yet! You're just a teenager, you're not ready yet to take on this hero life. Trust me, kid, you haven't seen the things that I have seen. It's horrible. A life of a pro-hero is not something to be meddled with by an inexperienced teen like you. You should be out there, improving yourself, studying, having fun with your friends, like playing games together, exercising, or whatever teenagers do to have fun these days!"
"You're saying that just because the law told you to, aren't you?" Yagi shot back, glaring at her.
"Even if the law isn't there, I still stand by my opinion. A teenager shouldn't be put in the frontline, no matter what happens. You deserve better, Yagi, don't shoulder the burden just yet, you're not ready." Nana reprimanded.
Yagi shook his head, "If I'm to be a pillar to be relied on by this society, then I have to prepare to take on whatever life has to throw on me, whether it's a life threatening situation, or dangers that no heroes can ever face."
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" Nana asked incredulously, rubbing her ears, "My ears must've been clogged, can you repeat that?"
"I'll take on whatever life will throw at me." Yagi replied. Nana shook her head, "No, not that one."
"...I want to be a pillar that people can rely on." Yagi said again. Nana took a few seconds to process the new information.
She then spoke, "You want to be a pillar of some sorts?"
"A symbol. Crime has been rampant in this country since quirks first appeared. Even then, crime isn't the only problem that this society has. There's still the discrimination of the quirkless kind. The only way to solve either of them is for a symbol to appear, a symbol of peace and hope. I want to make the world a place where people can smile and laugh together, knowing that someone is out there, protecting them. I also want to live in a world where the quirkless isn't discriminated against, I want to give hope to the quirkless, I want to give awareness to those who put the quirkless down, that the word 'quirkless' doesn't define the value of said quirkless individual." Yagi explained.
Nana was astounded by Yagi's goal. It was noble, even for a kid his age. But she couldn't help but think that it was a little too crazy.
She then remembered how Yagi is quirkless, yet ridiculously powerful. She had been investigating about his mysterious power, but to no avail.
His goal makes sense, but then she replied, "That's a crazy goal you have there, Toshi.. I'm impressed and terrified at the same time." She said, feeling a bit of a worry towards the teen.
"It's a crazy goal, I know, but if someone's not going to take my place, I'll take it." Yagi replied again.
Nana was about to say something, when the waiter came with the assigned orders that they gave. The waiter politely handed over the plate of Yakisoba to Nana, and the plate of Udon Noodles to Yagi.
He also put two mineral water they ordered on each side.
The waiter bowed, "I hope you're satisfied with our menu."
Nana nodded with a smile, as the waiter went back to his post.
"Itadakimasu!" Both of them said, as the both of them began to take a bite from their plate. They decided to wait until they finish the food and talk later.
Minutes later, as they finished, both of them picked a tissue and wiped their mouths. Nana then picked both Yagi's plate and her's, before standing up.
"Uh, why don't you let me do it?" Yagi asked. Nana shook her head, "Nah, you sit tight, I'll do it." She then took the plates back to the chef's, before returning to the table.
"Now that's out of the way.." Nana clasped her hands, "Let's talk about that goal of yours, and I have to say that it's crazy. Are you sure you want to achieve this?"
"I do. I'm sure. I've made it my personal mission. That's why I trained beyond my limitations." Yagi replied. Nana rubbed her chin, before saying, "Wait, you mentioned training? What kind of training?"
Yagi replied, "Just a hundred push-ups, a hundred sit-ups, a hundred squats, and 10 kilometres of running, every single day. I also added a bit of extra training, that is to turn off the heater in the winter and the air conditioner in the summer, both in which to train my mind."
Nana shook her head as she heard his response, "Toshi, I'm gonna kick your ass if you joke around with me. Receiving that ridiculous amount of strength with such an abysmal training is just as possible as fairies existing."
"I knew you wouldn't believe me," Yagi sighed, "None of the others did. But it's really the truth. That's all I did."
"Really?" Nana asked doubtedly, "You must have some sort of hidden quirk. Like a no-limit kind of quirk, a quirk that gives you the ability to push onward the limitations of a human being. I don't know, but it's possible."
Yagi shook his head, "I checked it multiple times, and the reports from the doctors said that I was still quirkless. Plus, I only have one joint in my pinky toe. It's clear, Shimura-san, I'm quirkless."
Nana's then asked, "How long since you last checked?"
"Before the U.A exam." Yagi replied. Nana was baffled. Even though her theory has a chance of it being true, the idea of a quirkless person using a training regime to gain powers even beyond that of some quirks is just..baffling.
Yagi then decided to speak again, "This power of mine, Shimura-san, I don't even know where it came from. But I do know that I received it for a reason. This power is beyond that of even the rankest heroes of this era. I can't, in my own conscience, neglect the cries of help from the innocents. I can't. When it comes to them, I'll do anything to save them, even if it means going against the law."
"Even if you're strong," Nana countered, "Strength alone doesn't win you points in this life, Yagi. You still are, by all means, inexperienced. You are underestimating the villains that lurks in the shadow. Some of them are cunning, smart, and strategic. Some of them may use strength to achieve their goals, but there are villains that toys around with your emotions, and there are villains that uses their intellect to strategize, to study you from the shadow, to study your movements, your daily life, your...loved ones."
Yagi winced at the mention of his loved ones.
Nana then brought up her next point, "Tell me, if a villain can't hurt you physically, they would try to find another way to hurt you, right? That's right, your emotions and mental state. Who's to say that they wouldn't use your loved ones as a way to hurt you? How would you react? Will you choose irrationality over rationality? What if they set up a trap? What if they use their cunning words to turn you into the path of villainy?"
Yagi couldn't counter her arguements. Yet again, he found himself silenced by Nana. She always knew what to say.
"That's why, Yagi, I'm telling you, you're not ready yet to enter this life. You can't involve yourself whenever villains are around to hurt people. Let the pro-heroes handle this, they know how to handle a specific situation, they know how to act rational, they have a small chance of falling into a trap set by the villains. You can't. You're not experienced. And let me emphasize again, strength alone doesn't win you points as a pro-hero." Nana concluded her explanation.
Yagi found himself being silenced. Yes, he was inexperienced. He may be strong, sure, but that's all he got: Super-strength. Nothing more. He can't be sure he'll act rational if one of the villains decided to use his mother, or god forbid, his best friend, Genos, as a means to hurt him, or even turn him into the path of a villain.
"Do you understand, Toshi?" Nana asked again in a soft voice, putting her hand in Yagi's shoulder, "I'm doing this because I care about you and your well-being. Honestly, you have a lot of potential, hell, I have no doubt that you're stronger than me! But you require experience, you need to enroll yourself in U.A and learn what it means to be a hero. It can hurt you, this life. Trust me, I know, I've experienced it beforehand. Please, don't go and make the same mistakes as I did.."
Yagi can notice the hurt in her voice. He was discerning something from her words. He can tell that she once had her loved ones under the threat of a villain, and she acted irrational because of it.
Yagi sighed, before saying, "I'll..consider your words."
"Don't consider it. Take it, and accept it. You have to, for your sake." Nana said in a serious voice.
Before Yagi can respond, suddenly, a newsbreak announced something in the television, "We have some reports from the city of Yokohama concerning the mysterious transformation of a boy named 'Suzuki Yamaha'. The reports from his parents said, and I quote, 'Our boy was playing a videogame at the time. We called him out for lunch, and when he ate from the plate, he suddenly turned into a humongous monstrosity.'"
Yagi subconsciously stood up, but Nana walked right in front of him, putting her hands in his chest, preventing him from going, "Don't. We just talked about this."
Yagi protested, "But-" he was interrupted by Nana, "Trust me. Just look, it'll be over soon without your help. Trust me, trust them, trust the pro-heroes."
"I did that last time and they almost failed!" Yagi replied.
"Don't blame that on the pro-heroes, Toshi," Nana explained, "The HPSC did a mistake of only informing the top three ranked heroes about that kid. If they informed the rest of us, we could've stood more of a chance against the Subterraneans. But trust me, it won't happen again. I'll make sure of it."
Yagi tensed for a moment, before allowing himself to slightly relax. He sighed, "Do you promise?"
Nana nodded, "I promise. Now sit down, since you may have taken my words and listened to it, or do you not want to talk about the thing you needed help with?"
"Oh..oh yeah.." Yagi decided to sit, knowing that the matter of the kid he met yesterday was far more important than what was going on in the television. He just hoped that the pro-heroes are more than enough to handle this.
Nana, too, sat on her chair, before asking, "You said something was stressing you out last night. What was it?"
Yagi took a deep breath, before saying his next words.
Yokohama City..
The half-lizard boy growled to the top of his lungs amidst the destroyed rubbles of the buildings near him, with bodies of multiple low ranking heroes besides him.
In front of him, stood the pro-hero with a spiked black hair, a thick black eyebrows, and a long mustache. He wore a long-sleeved black martial arts jumpsuit, a light-colored jeans, and a tai-chi slippers.
Silverfang, the well-known number five ranked martial arts themed hero. He motioned his hands in the air, while blue wave of energy followed them around like a stream of water.
The middle aged hero put himself in a fighting stance, before saying, "I really don't want to hurt you, boy," He said, "But I have no choice. You hurt these people, these heroes, and I won't let that continue. Don't worry, I won't kill you, but it'll just be enough to render you out of your consciousness."
The boy responded only with a roar, before letting his green energy to engulf him, charging towards the pro-hero.
Silverfang calmly closed his eyes, as the boy got closer to him. "Instant movement.." He muttered as he disappeared from his intended place, and appeared right beside the half-lizard boy.
He swiped his hand, effectively doing a swift feint, distracting the half-lizard boy, before doing a leg sweep in an instant, causing the boy to stumble. Silverfang responded with a swift thrust of his palm, causing the boy to stop midair, before spinning swiftly to kick the boy into the ground.
When the boy layed on the ground, unconscious due to the palm attack that the pro-hero used, Silverfang used his fingers to intercept the boy's nerve points, making him unable to move for more than 24 hours.
Silverfang stood up, clapping his hands upwards and downwards as a means to show that he's done with his job.
The middle aged hero sighed, "I guess that's it for him." He motioned for the police to come, "Come here. He's done for today."
The police nervously nodded, before approaching them, giving Silverfang their thanks of gratitude, "Thanks for the assistance, Silverfang-sama! Your service will not be forgotten!"
Silverfang chuckled, "It's nothing. And drop the 'sama' crap. I'm not the same man as I was before."
The police wasn't sure by what he meant by 'I'm not the same man as I was before', but nodded anyway. Silverfang was well-known as the arrogant, ruthless hero back in the days, who would pick a fight with a gang of criminals just for the hell of it. He even almost killed one of them and called it a satisfaction. The police wasn't sure why he said that. Perhaps he had a change of heart?
They brushed it off their thoughts, before going to the half-lizard boy for further inspection.
Silverfang left the crime scene, before putting a small smile on his face. "U.A, here I come.."
That's all for today's chapter! I hope you enjoyed it! And holy shit, I have 100k words now! That calls for a celebrati- just kidding, lmao.
Anyways, stay tuned for the next chapter.
