I was able to find the airship docking area with little trouble, since all I had to do was follow a plethora of people around my age going the same direction.
The hotel I stayed at last night was nice indeed, especially since I got to have breakfast there this morning. With all the choices I had I decided just to have oatmeal, something simply but filling. I left at 9:00 and got to the docking area at 9:30. And just a half an hour later the airship arrived.
The ship was huge, with four large wings at its sides, and three big jets behind it. A ramp lowered to let us on, which took about five minutes, there were a handful of benches along the walls of the room we went in, but despite this most of us just stood rather than sit, including me. Once we all boarded the ramp raised behind us, and the ship moved with a slight jolt that stumbled a few people. And just like that, we were airborne.
Just so you know, not many wastelanders have the privilege to see the world from above, since working Vertibirds aren't common in the wasteland, and most other planes and helicopters have long since stopped working. While I have been in a vertibird before, I didn't get to see the world below. Naturally I was drawn to the windows, peering down at the city below us with a sense of wonder that eludes many at adulthood.
Unfortunately, not everyone was as captivated by the scenery like I was, as I soon noticed a rather queasy passenger close by, putting a hand to his mouth as the ship gently sailed through the sky. He had messy blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes. He was an inch taller than me with a rather lanky build. He wore a white chest-plate fit with shoulder pads that reached his forearms. Underneath his chest piece was a black hoody, two fingerless gloves covered his hands, and a belt tightened at his waist held up a pair of blue jeans. And on his belt was a sword sheath. The poor kid struggled to keep his insides in, letting out small groans as well.
Other than him no one else stood out to me at first, though on the other hand, I stood out to other people, ever since I boarded I kept getting glances my way from my fellow passengers, since I was apparently weird for wearing a blue jumpsuit while everyone else dressed like super heroes or fantasy characters, that makes sense doesn't it?
"Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!" I suddenly heard a loud feminine voice boast, followed by a labored "Pwlease steop". Turning my head, I saw two girls near the center of the ship, the taller of the two holding the smaller one in a death grip of a hug. When she let go I recognized the smaller girl as the girl from the night before. "Ozpin said her name is Ruby, didn't he?" I thought as I glanced at her sister, who shockingly looked a bit different than Ruby. Mainly, while Ruby had short, dark hair, her "sister" had long, blonde hair that flowed down below her shoulders to her lower back. And she also had two big, lilac eyes that I didn't think could be genetically possible, though maybe in the more irritated parts of the wasteland.
"Are they really sisters?" I thought as I watched the two. I reasoned that either one was adopted, or they had a different mom/dad than each other. "But I'm so proud of you!" The blonde said cheerily to Ruby, jumping a little as she did. "Really, Sis, it was nothing." I heard Ruby reply quietly to her sister. I turned away and heard their conversation transition to something about "having normal knees" or something before another holographic screen appeared at the wall closest to the center. It showed what I guessed was a news broadcast.
"...The robbery was led by the notorious Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department immediately." The Anchorman said as a familiar face appeared on the screen. It was the robber from last night that had gotten away. "I know his name now at least." The broadcast switched, now showing woman with white hair with a lavender tint to it. On the bottom of the screen read "Lisa Lavender." Go figure. "Thank you Cyril, in other news, this Saturday's Faunus's Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony." The woman explained as a smaller picture appeared next to her head, showing a group of people protesting. They didn't look any different than normal people at first, but when I looked closer, I noticed that a couple them had...animal ears?
"The once peaceful organization has now disrupted-" before Lisa could finish the holographic screen shut off, whispers then started filling the room before a new hologram appeared, standing in front of the airship was a holographic Glynda Goodwitch. "Hello, and welcome to Beacon. My name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are among the privileged few who have received the honor of being able to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now, it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and training to protect our world." After this, hologram Glynda vanished.
By now the airship was finally leaving Vale, now approaching a cliff overlooking a big body of water. A few of the other students, including Ruby and her sister got closer to the windows to get a better view. And as they did, I saw the sick boy from earlier stumble close to the blonde girl, and proceeded to empty his guts onto the floor, some of it splattering onto the other blonde's boots. The two girls flipped out while the poor boy tried mumbling a few slurred apologies. Thankfully I was no where near them so my clothes were fine.
At the end of the day, not only would I be getting a free ride, but a show if anymore shenanigans happen on the airship.
The ride to Beacon was short, being a little under thirty minutes. The moment the ramp lowered, the blonde boy, nicknamed "Vomit Boy" by the two sisters was the first off the ship, rushing off before he ruined anyone else's shoes and released the rest of his vomit into a nearby trash can.
After I left the docking ramp I was able to get a good look at Beacon, and wow, it was gorgeous. In front of us was a courtyard, with a stone path lined with street lamps, the inner half was marked by a circle of stone pillars and archways. The grass was green and I spotted a few trees with red leaves, I'm being serious, the leaves were red. Last I checked leaves weren't supposed to be red until fall, let alone being on trees in the middle of winter. And in the distance ahead I saw the school itself, which looked more like a castle than a school. The tallest tower had some green lights shining within it. Overall I was amazed.
As I examined the school grounds I heard some odd noises behind me, and when I looked to find their source I saw Ruby started gushing over the other student's weapons and was now in her own world, forcing her sister to drag her back to reality with a tug on her cloak.
I sort of tuned them out afterwards and checked my map, upon seeing the incomplete map before me I remembered my current predicament, realizing I needed to wander a bit to get my map before I could rely on it.
As I wandered around the courtyard for at least two minutes the black screen slowly began to be filled by patterns of green lines, making out the layout of the courtyard, but before I could go any further my ears picked up an argument close by. I saw Ruby was now in an argument of some kind with another girl, dressed in a white dress. She had white hair tied into a pony tail, and a rapier sheathed on her belt. She had a few dozen white cases around her, one of which she had opened and showed to Ruby, nearby I noticed a third girl whose face was buried in a book, she wore a black-button up vest with a white, sleeveless undershirt on beneath with white shorts below, to match her vest were two long black boots. On top of her head was a black bow with a equally black ribbon. I couldn't see much of her face thanks to her book. And the odd part was the blonde girl was no where in sight.
Seeing Ruby's distress I started to get closer to the trio, but stopped when the duo were suddenly engulfed in an explosion, with a red cloud of smoke clouding them. The girl finally peaked up from her book in time to catch a vial of what looked like dust, she then started to walk over to the two girls, I then heard a notification from my Pipboy, revealing a new quest to replace last night's quest.
-Welcome to Beacon
-Defuse the argument
-Go to the opening ceremony
Lowering my Pipboy, I hurried over to the cloud to see if the two girls were hurt, and to my surprise both were fine, albeit both had an ashy coating over them from the blast.
"Hey?...are you two okay?" I asked as I approached the girls, just wanting to make sure they actually were okay. "I-I'm fine...ish-" Ruby answered before the white girl cut in, "Of course not, this dolt is ruining everything." The girl spat as I examined her closer, seeing that she had light blue eyes and pale skin.
"Take it easy.." I said, "What's going on?"
The pale girl huffed, "As I was on my way to the ceremony, this dunce knocked over my cases of dust, and if that wasn't enough, she had to go and sneeze on an open case of my dust and blew a hole where we stood!" She explained, Ruby mumbled "It was an accident..." in a low, apologetic tone. "It was obviously an accident, so maybe you shouldn't be too hard on her." I said, not wanting to make this any worse, the girl rolled her eyes as she glared at me "Accident or not, this is valuable..." the girl gestured to her other cases of dust, "Do you even know who I am?"
"Other than an entitled brat? No." I thought to myself, before I could reply with a simple "No", the girl in black finally spoke. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." The girl explained, observing us with her amber-colored eyes. "Hah! Finally some proper recognition." The heiress exclaimed, before the girl continued "The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces, and its questionable business partners." The girl continued, showing off a small, smug smile. "What-H-How dare-the-the nerve of-" Weiss angrily sputtered as Ruby laughed. Weiss snatched the dust vial from the newcomer's hand with a loud "Hmph" and stomped off, followed by a few nicely dressed men carting off the rest of her dust cases. Ruby suddenly took an apologetic look and called out after Weiss, "I promise I'll make it up to you!". Weiss didn't respond, drawing a sigh from Ruby. "Guess I'm not the only one having a rough day huh?" She whispered to herself, before turning to where the newcomer stood "So! What's-" Ruby stopped as the two of us noticed the other girl already walking away. "Odd, why leave so suddenly?"
Noticing Ruby's quickly declining mood, I decided to try to cheer her up, but as I thought of how, Ruby looked towards me and her face lit up after realizing I didn't immediately leave like the others, "Hey! You're the guy from last night, remember me?" She asked cheerily.
"Huh?" I paused, "Oh yeah, yeah I remember you. Ruby is it?" I asked, she looked puzzled, "Wait, how do you know my name?" She asked, "Ozpin told me when he spoke to me." I answered, "He talked to you to? Wow, is that why you're here to?". "Yeah." It was then that I noticed her eyes, they were silver, gleaming brilliantly as she smiled, "Dear god, is this kid adorable or what?" I thought to myself. When I saw Ruby give me another weird look I realized I was staring, "Oh, sorry..." I began, "It's...it's just, I've never seen anyone with silver eyes before."
"Odd, Ozpin mentioned my eyes when he first met me too, why is everyone curious about my eyes?" She wondered aloud before shaking her head, "So, you know me, what's your name?"
"My name...?" I paused, again finding myself debating whether to trust someone with my identity, I hardly ever had this problem in the Wasteland, I always answered with "Lone Wanderer" like it really was my name. "It's..." as I began to say my title, a new figure stopped next to us.
"Hi...I'm...Jaune." An awkward voice introduced, the two of us turned and saw it was none other than "Vomit Boy" from the airship, the destroyer of footwear himself. "Sorry, I...I saw you two earlier with that other girl and wanted to see what was up." He explained as he outstretched a hand, Ruby took it, "Ruby, Ruby Rose." She introduced before turning to me, "And he's...". As she released his hand, my hand took Jaune's. "I'm just a Lone Wanderer." I said.
My two new friends cocked their eyebrows up, "Okay...but...what about your name?" Jaune asked, "Lone Wanderer." I repeated. "Is that your real name? It's not even a color." Ruby observed. "Hold on, these people have naming rules? What's up with that?"
"It's been my name for a while now, since...well, I'm kind of a Wanderer." I smiled. The two looked to each other before nodding. Ruby then turned back to Jaune. "Wait, aren't you the guy who threw up on the ship?" She asked.
Jaune blushed at the mention of his previous action. "Well-I-I-Uh...yeah...that was me." He said as he lowered his head. Meanwhile, I looked down to my Pipboy to check my map, a marker was placed a little outside of where my map extended to. "Hey guys, we should get going now, we might miss something important at the opening ceremony." I advised, my two acquaintances paused, "Oh, yeah, let's get going then." Jaune agreed as we started walking.
"Look, all I'm saying is that motion sickness is a lot more common than people let on." Jaune stated, a minute after we began walking Ruby mistakenly brought up the nickname she and her sister came up with for Jaune, which he didn't like.
"Sorry, it's just that vomit boy was the first thing that came to mind." Ruby apologized as she struggled to hold back a chuckle, I took this as my cue to jump in, "No one here is making fun of you for throwing up Jaune." I began, "Like you said, it's a common problem, and we all have our own flaws."
"I know..." Jaune sighed, still embarrassed. Ruby then took it upon herself to change the subject. "Soooo...I got this thing." She pulled out a familiar red shape, and with the whirring of its mechanisms it unfolded into a scythe, the same one from the night before too.
"Woah, is that a scythe?" Jaune asked as he examined the red and black scythe-gun. "It's also a customizable, high impact, sniper rifle." Ruby said confidently, "A what?" Jaune asked, his voice telling us he wasn't at all familiar with gun terms. "It's also a gun." I summarized, "Oh" a look of understanding washed over the boy's face. "So what do you got?" Ruby asked excitedly. "Oh, uh, I...I got this sword." Jaune pulled out an arming sword from his sheath. "Ooohh." Ruby's eyes lit up as she examined the sword, compared to the (few) weapons I've seen in this world this one was simple by comparison. Jaune then pulled out his sheathe and with the press of a button it instantly folded out into a shield, "I've got this shield too." He said, Ruby was intrigued, and I was curious myself about his gear. "So, what do they do?" I inquired as Ruby reached over to feel Jaune's shield, which must have done something to the mechanisms within it because it suddenly began refolding into its sheath form and slipped from his hands, sending Jaune into a juggling act with it for a few seconds. "As you saw...I can fold...my shield up...so I won't have to...uh...carry it all the time." He said as he put the shield back onto his belt.
"But wouldn't it weigh the same?" Ruby pointed out. "...Yes it does." Jaune answered downtrodden. "Just like when I atomize my stuff, though he only has his shield." I thought to myself. "So, what's with the sword then?" I asked, "It's sort of a hand-me down, my great-grandfather used it during the War." Jaune summarized as he held the blade in front of him. "He must mean the Great War of this world, guess they still used medieval weapons in those days." I guessed, Ozpin didn't tell me much about it, though like my world's Great War it was catastrophic, but at least Remnant survived its war.
"So it's kind of an heirloom then?" Ruby joked, "Well I like it, not too many people have an appreciation for the classics these days." She said, before turning to me. "Say Wanderer, what about your weapon?" Ruby asked. "Oh mine?" I asked as I became aware of the duo's attention drawn directly to me. "Oh, well mine is nothing too impressive I guess..." I tried to deflect the question."Where is it anyway? You had a rifle last night right?" Ruby asked, though she probably didn't see my pistol. "It's...in the school right now, I had it and my other weapons delivered there ahead of me." I lied. "Why would you do that?" Jaune asked. "I didn't feel like carrying a gun around me all day." I replied, "Huh? Okay then." Ruby said as she and Jaune accepted my answer.
Soon enough we finally reached the ceremony, sectioned off in walled off part of the courtyard, and luckily we made it just in time. "Ruby over here! I saved you a spot!" I heard the blonde from earlier call out to her sister. Ruby turned back to us, "Oh, sorry, I have to go. I'll see you two after the ceremony." Ruby waved before rushing over to her sister. "Hey, w-wait." Jaune tried to call after Ruby, but she was now by her sister's side. The blonde boy sighed, "Great, now where am I supposed to find a nice, quirky girl to talk to?" Jaune complained, ignoring me as he trudged off to another spot in the room, as he did I noticed another girl watch him as he left. She dressed like some kind of gladiator and had bright red hair. Her green eyes followed him until he vanished into the crowd, she went back to waiting for the ceremony to begin like the rest of us.
I looked back over and saw Ruby talking with her sister, and moments later Weiss came up from behind Ruby and startled her, before handing her a pamphlet. I couldn't hear what they were saying over the chatter of the rest of the room. But it all came to a stop when we heard a microphone turn on, followed by someone clearing their throat.
"I'll keep this brief." Professor Ozpin began as he stood on the stage at the other end of the room. "You have travelled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your skills and squire a new craft. And when you finish you will dedicate yourselves to the protection of our people." Ozpin paused as he looked around the room. "However, when I look amongst you all, all I see is wasted energy, a need of purpose and direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this. But your time at this school will teach you that knowledge can only carry you so far, it's is up to you to take the first step." Ozpin finished as he left the microphone, Goodwitch took his place shortly after.
"He didn't seem to enthusiastic about this did he?"
"Tonight you will all gather in the ballroom. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready." Goodwitch briefly explained before she left the mic as well. The chatter returned shortly after as the students started funneling out of the room.
"I guess I can use this time to explore the school for a bit, the sooner I have this place mapped out the better." I thought as I left the room.
As night fell we all began to gather in the ballroom as Goodwitch instructed. I spent most of the day wandering around the campus, mapping as much of the layout as I could. Unfortunately there were some places that we weren't allowed to wander in, those being the dormitory areas and some of the classrooms. Other than that I had a good deal of the building mapped. At the moment I was in the bathroom getting ready for the night, my nightwear included my undershirt and some boxers, little better than the robe I wore back in Megaton but it would do for now, at least until I buy proper nightwear anyway.
I just left the shower in one of the bathrooms, and I had to say it felt good to have running water that was hot for once. After I left the Vault hot showers became rare, with my having to use purified water bottles for a while, then when Project Purity went online I got whole pots of water to boil for showers. But now, I could once again take a real hot shower, in a bathroom.
As my shirt came on, I started hearing two guys outside the bathroom talking with each other about Initiation, figuring I'd learn something useful I listened in. "-Shouldn't be much harder than it was back in Signal, right?" One asked, "No you idiot it is, this is Beacon damnit, you bet we're gonna have to fight a boatload of Grimm tomorrow." The other boy said. "Okay, will we have to have a landing strategy too?". "What do you think dumbass?" The second voice replied.
"Landing strategy?" I wondered.
After I finished getting dressed I left the bathroom, looking for someone to clear this up for me, Oz didn't tell me anything about initiation, especially anything about a landing strategy. I saw guy about to enter the ballroom and I tapped their shoulder. "Excuse me, but do you know anything about a landing strategy we have to do tomorrow?".
The first year blinked a few times, "Yeah, everyone knows about that, don't you?". I felt a pang of anxiety in my gut. "No?...". I softly replied. "How did you not know this? It's how you land for a mission." The student said as if it was basic knowledge. "And that is?..." I waited for an answer. The student's eyes narrowed, "That's for you to decide." Was his reply. "So, we're going to be dropped out of a plane and forced to find a way to land safely is what your telling me?" I asked. "What the fuck is a plane?" The student asked, "And didn't you go over this in combat school?". He finished. "I...I may have missed that lesson." I lied, "Thanks for the help." I thanked as I walked away from the ballroom. And right on cue, my Pipboy gave me a new objective.
-Welcome to Beacon
-Find your own "landing strategy".
"Would've been nice of Ozpin to tell me about this before I came here." I thought as I slipped through the hallways sneakily, which didn't require much effort thanks to the surprisingly low level of security in the halls. I soon found the main entrance and opened the door with ease, another clear sky greeted me from above, with the sound of crickets close by, and the moon was still broken.
I crouched down as I made my way to the back of the school, a long trip for a school mind you. Even with the lack of security inside I didn't want to try my luck with being too careless outside. Eventually my compass and map led me outside some kind of shed. When I tried turning the door knob, I discovered it was locked.
For other people, this would be the end of their trip, but of course, I'm not other people. I materialized my bag of Bobby pins and a screwdriver and went to work. The screwdriver went in with the Bobby pin and began turning the lock as gently as I could as I maneuvered the Bobby pin from one end to another. Two pins later I heard the lock *click, and when I turned the knob I felt no resistance.
"Thank god the locks of this world work the same as the locks from my world." I thought as I entered the shed. I took a look around and saw all sorts of junk and equipment strewn about. Some deflated balls, ropes, a tarp, and a workbench of sorts at the corner of the room.
I shut the shed doors behind me and flipped on my Pipboy's light, examining the things I had to work with, I then nodded as an idea formed in my head. I materialized a knife, grabbed the tarp and the ropes, rushed to the bench with the items and got to work.
I stabbed a few holes on the sides of the tarp, after that I got to work cutting them more to even then out into proper holes. After materializing some wonderglude, I started pulling the ropes through the holes and glued the edges to the sides with the glue, with a generous glob of the adhesive applied to each of the holes I began knoting together the ropes until I was left with two "handles" to grip. Said handles were a mix of the ropes tied together. If I could I would've used real handles, but that would require sneaking into the restricted areas of the school, where security was most likely not as lax as the rest of the area. But at the moment my makeshift parachute would do, only for the landing strategy portion anyway.
I looked down when a new notification appeared to notify me of my recent completed objective. After dematerializing my makeshift-parachute I creeped my way back into the main building, taking only a few minutes now that I knew where to go. I entered the ballroom and the floor was littered with hundreds of sleeping bags, most occupied by my fellow first year students. I went over to a few staff members handing them out and got my own. I plopped myself near a wall and laid down, as I did my eyes examined who was around me, before looking around the rest of the room, a few boys were standing around shirtless and trying to show off to the women, while another duo play wrestled, one boy holding the other in a headlock. And confidently striding through the crowd was Jaune wearing a blue onesie with bunny slippers. He paused and smiled in another direction, I looked over and saw he was smiling towards Ruby's sister, who rolled her eyes and went back to talking with her sister. I heard the sound of a match being lit and from my peripheral vision I thought I noticed a familiar face, and as I turned that way, I saw the girl in black from this morning, who was still buried in a book but now dressed in a dark nightgown of sorts with a lit candle next to her. Sensing my gaze she peaked up from her book for a second and noticed me looking at her, I gave a small wave and a smile, receiving a nod from her as she went back to her book. And so, I decided now would be a good time to close my eyes, and get some rest...
Then...
"Hellooooooooo!" A loud, vibrant feminine voice greeted, accompanied by two pairs of footsteps coming my direction. I peaked an eye open and saw Ruby's blonde sister coming me and the girl's way, dragging Ruby behind her. It seemed like they were going to the girl's direction, so I wouldn't have to worry about being kept up any longer then if they're quiet. So I closed my eyes again, before I felt a pillow hit my face.
"What th-"
"Hi there sleepy head." The blonde greeted as I groggily looked at her and Ruby, who mouthed "Sorry". "I believe you three may know each other." The blonde stated as she gestured to Ruby, me, and the other girl. "Aren't you that girl who exploded?" The girl asked, "Umm yeah, my name's Ruby." The smaller girl reached a hand to the girl, who didn't reciprocate the action. "But you can just call me Crater...actually, you can just call me Ruby." Ruby replied as she withdrew her hand. The girl paused for a few seconds, and then said "Okay." Me and the blonde gave a weird look to Ruby. "What are you doing?" I heard the bigger girl whisper. "Idontknowhelpme." Ruby whispered back. "So, what's your name?" the blonde asked with a smile. The girl glanced back up from her book, the slight tinge of annoyance told me she'd much rather go back to reading in peace than continue this conversation. "...Blake." She answered. "Well Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister!" The blonde pointed to herself. "So...I like your bow."
"Thanks" Blake slightly hissed.
"It goes great with your..." Yang stopped to find a match. "...pajamas."
"...Riiigght"
Ruby and Yang looked awkwardly back at each other, realizing they were running low on options. "So...nice night don't you think?"
"Yes...it's lovely." Blake forced out. "...Almost as lovey as this book..." Yang and Ruby remained where they were, staring at the girl. "...that I will continue to read...as soon as you leave..." the introvert finished, returning her gaze back to her book. "Yeah, this girl is a lost cause." Yang whispered to Ruby, just as she started turning to me to repeat that performance, Ruby saved me. "What's it about?"
"Huh?" Blake asked, caught off guard by Ruby's question.
"Your book? Does it have a name?" Ruby inquired, which actually worked. "Well...it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body." Blake's voice sounded less annoyed, now interested for once.
"Oh yeah...that's real lovely." Yang said sarcastically. Ruby stepped closer to Blake. "I love books, Yang used to read me stories each night before bed. Stories of heroes, monsters, they're one of the reasons why I want to be a huntress." Ruby said, her voice no long awkward. "Why is that? Are you hopping for a happily ever after?" Blake asked with a chuckle, a friendly one. Her attention fully left the book. "I'm hopping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like the heroes in my books, someone who fought for what was right and who protected those who couldn't protect themselves."
"That's...very ambitious for a child." Blake's face filled with sorrow briefly. "But the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
"Well, that's why we're here. To make it better." Ruby said with a smile. I couldn't help but feel a smile on my face to, seeing Ruby become so confident all of a sudden and turn that awkward situation around was heart warming in a way.
"So, what about you?" Yang asked me, "Ruby told me a little about you...what's your name again?"
"Wanderer, I'm just a Lone Wanderer." I replied, Blake and Yang looked at me curiously. "'Scuse me?" Yang asked, "Lone Wanderer?" Blake asked.
"That's what they call me." I said, "Name says it all." Blake and Yang looked to each other and then to Ruby. "That's what he told me too."
"You, travel a lot then?" Yang asked.
"Yeah, that's what I do."
"To the other continents too?"
"Uh...yeah?"
"So what's your favorite place then?"
"That's-"
"What in the world is going on here? Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?" A familiar voice piped angrily as they made their way to our group.
"Aww shucks" I thought as my eyes landed on Weiss, dressed in a blueish-gray night gown.
"OH NOT YOU AGAIN!" Weiss and Yang both exclaimed when they recognized each other as Ruby quickly stepped between the two and began shushing them, "No guys she's right, people are trying to sleep." Ruby pled to the other two girls. "Oh so NOW you're on my side." Weiss sneered, "What? I was always on your side." Ruby replied, trying to defuse the argument. "Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's just trying to be nice." Yang snapped at Weiss. "She's a hazard to my health." Weiss shot back.
"Okay, I need to do something." I cleared my throat, but the three didn't hear me at first, second time I tried they still bickered.
"Guys!" I said in a neutral, but loud tone. The three girls turned their heads to me. "As Weiss said, other people are trying to sleep, I don't want to be rude or anything, but can you guys please not fight?" I asked.
"That's what I came over to say, it's-" Weiss began, "Then you started a fight with Yang, and tried dragging Ruby in to." I saw Weiss's cheeks redden. "I don't want to start anything else, so please just stop fighting." I said.
Weiss huffed, "Fine. Just as long as those two don't keep me up." She then walked off back to her own bag. "Sorry about that Wanderer..." Ruby lowered her head slightly. "No worries, you at least tried to keep things calm. Not that you were in the wrong Yang." I added when Yang look offended, "She did go after Ruby, you just wanted to stick up for her."
Yang calmed down after my explanation, "I guess we'll just head on over to beds then..." Yang said as she and Ruby said goodnight to me and Blake before going back to their makeshift beds.
As I laid back down I heard Blake blow out her candle, snuffing out the last bit of light in the ballroom. I looked down to my Pipboy to see where I was on my current quest.
-Welcome To Beacon
-Wait for the Initiation.
As I looked at my Pipboy I thought I saw Blake staring me down from the corner of my eye, when I looked towards her she was looking the other way.
After that I laid my head back, shut my eyes, and let sleep take me.
