(17)-Leaving For Trick-or-Treating.

Tommy stood by his bedroom window as he watched Logan leave on his bike. Then he began thinking all of what he, Logan and Timmy had learned today about the Myers house. So the spook-house had been originally owned by a serial killer back in the 1940s before it belonged to the Myers family. He would have never thought of that, since nobody in town ever talked about it. Then again, nobody in town ever talked about the Myers tragedy either, so why should this discovery be any different? Tommy never understood the grown-ups of this town and their need to keep secrets from it's children. It wasn't like they weren't ever gonna find out or hear about it at school from other kids who had overheard their parents talking about it. So why bother? Maybe it was because they were trying to create a world for their kids where everything is all sunshine, rainbows and peaches and cream, and admitting the existence of monsters would disrupt that kids world.

Then Tommy thought about what Timmy had asked the old man at the old abandoned haunted house. Was it possible he could've been right? Could Frank N. Stiner have secretly been living in the Myers house with the Myers family without them knowing it? He was arrested on Halloween night-1943...then escaped prison on Halloween night-1948. Between those two years, the Myers had most likely moved into the house during that five-year timespan. There was no way they could've lived there all that time without knowing someone was secretly living with them. But if this Stiner character was smart enough to get rid of the bodies of five boys after killing them, and was smart enough to escape prison, couldn't he have been smart enough to live in his former home with the Myers without their knowledge of his presence?

Was it possible that this Stiner guy could have also been the one who killed the Myers girl on Halloween night 15 years ago and framed her 6-year old brother? Was the kid innocent?

Was it possible Stiner was still alive and living in the Myers house this very day without anyone knowing about it? Could he have been the figure Tommy had seen in the spook-house's front door window? Could he have been the Boogyman Tommy had seen at school, on his way home, and outside his bedroom window? Could he have been the monster living in the basement? Could the Boogyman be after him in the real world now? Was he the next target? If so...why? Why him? Why now? Why wait after all this time to start up his killing-spree again?

He didn't know. But one thing was for certain: He would definitely be going back to the Myers house during Trick-or-Treating with some of his friends to investigate the inside of the home.

"Tommy?" Came the voice of Stephanie from outside Tommy's room. But he didn't hear her, as he was lost in his little dark world about Frank N. Stiner and the Boogyman. "Tommy." She repeated as she entered into his room. Still no reply. "Tommy!"

Tommy snapped out of his trance and turned to face his mother. "Yeah?"

"Excuse me?" Stephanie said.

"Yes, ma'am?" Tommy asked.

"It's almost time for Trick-or-Treating, put your costume on." Stephanie said.

"Right now?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah, right now, hop to it. You're friends'll be here any minute." Stephanie said.

"Okay." Tommy said.

Stephanie then left out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Tommy then went over to his closet, opened the door, and reached inside for his costume he had bought at the costume-store three days ago.

...

Later, Tommy, now dressed in his costume, holding a pillow-sack, was downstairs in the dining-room, standing around the dinner-table with Timmy, Holly and an 8-year old boy named Will Xander, with all three of them holding their white pillow-sacks. Will had long black shaggy neck-length hair and blue eyes and he wore a werewolf costume. Timmy and Will were debating on which house to stop at first. Stephanie, meanwhile, was upstairs in her and Ronnie's bedroom, trying to figure out what to wear on their date tonight, as it wouldn't be long before he got home from work.

Timmy wore a ghost costume, which was merely a white sheet with a hole cut in it for his head to fit through, and he wore his dark blue pants and white sneakers. And Holly wore a witch costume.

"No, forget it. I vote we go to the Anderson house first." Timmy said.

"There's nothing wrong with the Baxter house, let's go there first." Will said.

"If there's nothing wrong with the Baxter's house, then why don't you go there first?" Timmy asked.

"Cause we're suppose to be Trick-or-Treating together this year, ya big dummy." Will answered.

"Quit being a bunch of babies, guys, they're both on the same block." Holly said, referring to the Andersons' and the Baxters' homes.

"Then why don't you go Trick-or-Treating by yourself, Holly?" Will asked.

Just then, the door-bell rang.

"I'll get it." Tommy said before he went over to the door, unlocked it and opened it, revealing Logan on the other side, holding a white pillow-sack and wearing a long sleeve rainbow-colored upward-striped clown costume and his white sneakers.

"Hi. Happy Halloween." Logan greeted.

"Logan, hi. Happy Halloween to you too." Tommy said.

"Thanks." Logan said.

"Cute costume. Uh...what are you doing here?" Tommy said.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm here to Trick-or-Treat with you and the guys." Logan said.

"I thought your sister was taking you Trick-or-Treating." Tommy said.

"She was, but she backed out at the last minute to go hang out with her boyfriend, Bob." Logan said.

"Again? That's three Halloweens in a row she's blown you off." Tommy said.

"That's what my Mom said." Logan said. "So, uh...is everybody ready?"

"Almost. We just have to decide which house to stop at first and then we'll be-"

"Ready." Timmy, Holly and Will said as they came to the door behind Tommy, cutting him off and startling him.

"Aw, man, what is she doing here?" Logan asked, noticing Holly.

"Holly's going Trick-or-Treating with us." Tommy answered.

"Oh, brother." Logan said.

"Is there a problem?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah, there's a problem, she's a girl." Logan said.

"Why is that a problem?" Tommy asked.

"Because girls are the enemy." Timmy said.

"That's right. And you know we always do a boys only Trick-or-Treating group thing every Halloween. She'll cramp our style." Logan said.

"I can hear you." Holly said. "That's because i'm in the same room as you guys."

"I'm not in the house, i'm out here on the front porch." Logan corrected.

"Alright, you guys ready?" Tommy asked, turning to face Holly, Timmy and Will.

"Yeah!" Holly, Timmy and Will said excitedly.

"Let's get some candy." Will said.

"Oh, cheese." Logan said as he turned and walked off the porch, followed by Holly, Timmy and Will exiting the house, with Tommy being the last one to leave as he closed the door behind him, and the five kids went off to Trick-or-Treat through the neighborhood on their bikes.

What none of them knew was that after tonight, Halloween would never be the same for them or the people of Haddonfield again. Little did they know how tonight would be the night Haddonfield would change, and the once fun-filled holiday called Halloween...would become a living nightmare.
