She Ain't My Blood, But She's My Girl

Chapter I

November 3, 2018, Saturday.

Rory was standing in her bedroom in her Grandparent's house. She was looking in the mirror. She had on a wedding dress. She was wearing her grandma's pearls for something borrowed. Her gown was something new. Lane gave her a blue garter. That is her something blue. She was wearing the ½ carat diamond studs in the top holes of her ears that were left to her by her great-grandma-Trix or the Lorelai the 1st. That is her something old. In her bottom holes in her ears she was wearing the Chole Pear Drop earrings Logan gave her for graduation. That was before she turned down his proposal and left for the Obama campaign trail.

Rory was not one to stand in front of a mirror and admire herself, but she couldn't help it. She felt beautiful. She turned to see who was at the door when she heard the knock. It was her Dad. "I have someone that wants to see you." He said. "It's me," Her 5-year-old daughter Amelia "Mia" Virginia Dugray said as she jumped out from behind her grampa. "Mommy, you look beautiful." She said, Rory, squatted down to eye level. "Thank you sweet pea. You look beautiful too. Are you ready to get married?" Rory asked. "I'm not getting married momma, you are," she said. "I know, I am excited. When Logan and I get back from our trip, you and I are going to move in with Logan. Remember picking out the paint for your room? And the pink comforter?" Rory asked. Mia nodded her head excitingly. "And the 'ralph Uncle Finn got me," Mia said. Rory laughed, "Yes and the giraffe Finn bought you that is taller than you." Rory said. She hugged Mia and stood up. "Momma? The 'ralph is taller than me because he is supposed to be." Mia said, shaking her head.

"Mia, I think Ms. Susan is ready for you to walk down the stairs," Chris said. "Are you ready?" He asked Rory. "Yes," Rory and Chris stood just out of sight watching Mia walk down the stairs. She was beautiful. After she and Logan got back together, Steph asked did she regret saying no to Logan at graduation? Rory told her that hindsight is 20/20. She should have said yes, but if she had, she would not have Mia. Stephanie nodded. Rory's marriage to Tristian Dugray was short-lived, but it gave her this beautiful daughter.

After the vows were said, the unity candle lit, the rings exchanged, but before the minister told Logan to kiss his bride, Logan motioned for Mia to come stand by him. He squatted down to eye level with Mia. He took her hand. She was grinning from ear to ear. "In just a few minutes, Mr. Paul is going to tell me that I can kiss your momma, then he is going to introduce us as Mr. and Mrs. Logan Huntzburger. Before he does that, I want to give you something." Logan pulled a ring off the tip of his pinkie finger. "Amelia Virginia Dugray, I promise to always love you and your mother. I promise to always try to attend every ballet recital, soccer game, and anything else you participate in. I promise to always listen when you want to talk." He said as he slipped the ring on her finger.

The compromise for Rory and Logan's small intimate wedding was that Emily and Shira got to have a society reception. Lots and lots of photos were taken. They arrived at the reception in a vintage Rolls-Royce. Finn was their driver.

When they arrived at the reception hall, they were welcomed by the Life and Death Brigade class of 2005-2008. They were escorted in by the group. Emily and Shira, we're not very pleased. As everyone was being introduced, the newlyweds were laughing at the extreme entrance the group was making. Someone bribed the MC, because Finn and Lane, then Collin and Paris, were all of the introductions before the bride and groom. The MC was introducing everyone.

When it was time for the bride and groom to dance for the first time as a married couple, "Moon River" started playing. Logan took his bride's hand and led her to the dance floor. About halfway through the song, the MC invited all couples to the dance floor. Logan then danced with his mother, Lorelai, Emily, Honor, and all the LDB gals. Rory danced with Chris, Richard, Luke, and all the LDB guys. When the toasts started Colin had to wrangle Finn in. Colin gave a toast, as well as Mitchum, Lane, and Chris.

When it was time to cut the cake, Rory smeared cake in Logan's face. Everyone was laughing and having a good time. There was more dancing, more drinking, more laughing. Everyone was having a good time. Mia was asleep in Luke's lap. Logan and Rory were still dancing. Rory caught Emily's eyes. It was time for the bouquet toss and the garter removal and toss.

Rory tossed the bouquet. Steph caught it. When it was time for the garter toss, all the single men pushed Collin toward the garter. Rory and Logan began making their rounds to say goodbye. Lorelai and Luke will take Mia home with them. Logan and Rory will return from their honeymoon Friday. They both took the next week off to get moved into Logan's apartment in New York. Rory and Mia were living in a three-bedroom apartment that her dad paid for. He decided to keep it.

They decided that Lorelai and Luke will meet them Friday night at Chris's house in Hartford so that they could see Mia. Chris will keep her the second week and take her to New York when Rory and Logan get settled in. Gigi was looking forward to playing the cool aunt. As Rory and Logan were getting ready to leave, Janlon and Nancy Dugray stopped to congratulate them. "Rory, we were wondering if maybe we could spend some time with Amelia?" Nancy asked. Logan was holding Rory's hand. "Janlon, Nancy, I have never stopped you nor Tristain from visiting. I only asked, because she does not know you, that visitation be done with me present." Rory said with a smile. "You contact me when we get back from our honeymoon, we will sit down and talk and work out a plan," Nancy said. "Thank you so much for coming today," Rory said, smiling.
