A/N: Hey guys I know that it's been awhile since I've updated anything. You start down a path and then life happens and things take a higher priority. Writer's block has been a major problem for me. But I am slowly trying to get back in the groove. It's hard for me to believe that I started this story back in 2018 but here I am trying so hard not to abandon it. I finally managed to finish this that has taken me so long to write and I hope that you enjoy it. Please read, review and favorite. Thanks.

Chapter 16

Rory POV

It had been several weeks since Grandpa Straub's funeral. It had been hard. I don't think that I would have gotten through it, if it hadn't been for Finn and Steph. They were with me through all of it. I spent the days leading up to the funeral at my condo in Hartford, in case Dad or Grandma needed me. Grandma had gotten Finn to help with a few things. Mom had even come by a couple of times to make sure that I was eating. I told her that I had even though I hadn't really been in the mood to eat. In between the stuff that I was doing for my family, I was back in New Haven taking my summer classes. Most of the time I felt like I was running on auto-pilot. I knew that Finn was worried about me but I didn't know what to say most of the time; and I don't think that he knew what to say to me either.

Once things seem to start getting back to normal (or what seemed to pass as normal) I decided that I wanted to do something nice for Finn, you know for everything that he had done for me. This particular weekend, Steph was visiting her parents out at the Vineyard, so I invited Finn over. I had ordered Italian food from mine and Finn's favorite restaurant in New Haven. He had been so sweet to me the last few weeks I wanted him to know how much I appreciated him.

Finn POV

Things had been getting back to normal in the last couple of weeks. Once we'd gotten back to campus and back into our routine, she seemed a little better… which I was happy about. I hated seeing her so sad.

This morning, she'd texted me and told me that Steph was going to the Vineyard this weekend and that she wanted me to come over tonight. That's where I was about to head when I heard a knock on my front door (Colin and I were sharing an apartment). When I opened my front door, I was shocked at who stood there. "Sarah?"

"Hi Finny." She said.

I hadn't seen Sarah since Logan, Colin and I were kicked out of our Switzerland boarding school and that was our Junior year of high school. "How did you find me? What are you doing here?" I asked her.

She pushed her way into my apartment. Rory was going to have a field day with this. "Well I heard from a little birdy that you were at Yale with your idiotic friends and that your dating the double heiress." Sarah said.

I didn't bother to close the door because she wasn't staying. "It doesn't matter because it's none of your business." I told her.

She turned around from her spot on the other side of my living room. "Why so feisty, Finny?" She asked.

"Sarah, you need to go. I have somewhere to be." I told her.

She walked over to me. She rubbed her hand against my cheek. "I'll be seeing you around, Finny." She said before walking out of my apartment.

This wasn't good.

I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and called Logan. "We have a problem." I told him when he answered.

Rory POV

It was nine o'clock before I got a text from Finn saying that something had come up and that he wasn't going to make it over that night. Part of me was furious but the other part of me was trying to be sympathetic since he'd been supportive the last couple of weeks. I decided to head over to the pub and see who was there.

When I walked into the pub, I saw that Paris and Robert were sitting at a table. I walked over and joined them. "Hey guys." I said.

"Hey." Paris said. I guess I had worry on my face. "You okay?" She asked me.

I shrugged. "I'm not sure. Finn was supposed to come meet me but something came up." I told them.

"I'm sure everything's okay." Robert said.

I nodded. I gave them my society smile. "I'm sure your right." I said.

I hung out with Robert and Paris for a while before I headed out. I headed back towards the apartment, but I couldn't get Finn out of my head. I took a detour and started over to his and Colin's apartment which wasn't far from mine and Steph's when my phone rang. It was Logan. "Hey Logan." I said.

"Hey. Umm… you might want to come to the police station." Logan said.

I let out a sigh. "I'm on my way." I said. I couldn't believe this. He was supposed to be with me tonight but instead he went and got himself arrested.

Finn POV

"Dude, she's gonna be so pissed at me." I said. I couldn't believe this. We'd gone over to Sarah's to try and get her to leave town before Rory found out, but instead she'd had us arrested.

"She'll understand." Colin said.

"Not this time." I said, right as Logan came back from making his phone call. "Who's coming?"

"Steph?" Colin asked and Logan shook his head.

"Rory." Logan said.

"Been nice knowing you boys." I said, "Better yet, Rory's never going to want to see me again."

A little while later, a cop came and opened our cell. "Bail's been posted." He said.

"For all of us?" Colin asked.

"Yep. Lady's waiting out front." He said.

The three of us made our way out to the front of the police station. When we got to the lobby, I saw a very pissed off Rory. "You boys okay?" She asked calmly. We nodded. "Good. Let's go."

We followed her out to the car, none of us saying anything. We all lived around the same area so it was helpful. Rory dropped Logan off first. "Thanks for coming." He said.

"Thanks for the call." She told him. After dropping Logan off, Rory drove to her apartment. Apparently she had plans for me and Colin. We followed Rory up to the apartment. "Sit." She told us when we walked in. We did as she said. I didn't want to piss Rory off any more than I already had. While we waited, I looked around the apartment. Shit. Rory had planned a romantic night for the two of us. And I'd ruined it all.

When she came back, she handed us each a beer. "So somebody wanna tell me what happened?"

What was I gonna tell her? The truth, I had to tell her the truth. "Ror, my ex came into town and showed up at the apartment." I said.

She looked over at Colin and he nodded. "So you couldn't come over and tell me that? What led to you guys getting arrested?" She said.

"A fight." Colin lied.

Rory rolled her eyes. I'd said when we were in the jail cell. She was never going to want to see me again. "Go home sleep. I need time to think." She said. I nodded.

Rory POV

The next morning when I woke up, I did something that I would probably regret. I called Tristin, packed a bag and headed for Hartford. Maybe some time away would do me good.

Logan POV

Rory had been pissed when she picked us up from the police station. I knew that she was. But even though she was pissed she'd still bailed us out when she could have left us there. I knew that there was no way that she was going to forgive Finn easily for this. He'd already told us that he was supposed to hang out with Rory tonight but instead we'd gone over to Sarah's hotel to try and figure out what she was trying to accomplish. Then I realized that the answer that we were looking for had been right in front of us the entire time. I pulled my phone out of my pocket. I quickly scrolled through my contacts and hit call. "Hey, I think I figured out the answer to our problems." I said.
