A/N: Okay so this chapter is written a little different. It's a filler chapter from the different POV's. It sets everything up for the next chapter where the time jump will kick in. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 18

Rory

Once things started to settle back down after the Tristan and Sarah debacle, life seemed to return back to normal. Steph and I attended summer classes while working at my family's law firm. When the fall semester started back, we found out that Finn was graduating in December. Colin and Logan were on track to graduate in the spring with me and Steph but somehow Finn had taken extra classes. The real world was slowly creeping up on us and even though I tried not to think about it, I couldn't help but wonder about mine and Finn's relationship when he graduated. Finn kept telling me not to worry that we would figure everything out but I couldn't help but think that it wasn't that simple.

My birthday had been incredible. We'd all decided to forego the typical society party and instead we headed to the Hamptons for a little R&R weekend. That weekend had been great except for the fact that I had walked in on Finn having a conversation with his Dad. He'd had the phone on speaker and I'd heard his Dad tell him that after he graduated that he was headed to Australia. I couldn't believe it. I felt like my world was crashing down. Finn and I had ended up in a huge fight. By the end of the next week we had broken up because in a matter of 60 days we'd be living on opposite sides of the world. It was in that moment that I'd decided to swear off dating until after I'd finished law school and got situated in the law firm.

By the time finals had rolled around Finn and I had talked and I had even thrown him a bon voyage party that was themed to Australia. By the end of the night, we had ended up in a corner making out one final time. By the time the party had ended, we'd taken a final walk together around Yale reminiscing about all the good times that we'd had together and then he'd asked me to stay with him, telling me that I was the only person that he really wanted to spend his last night with. I happily agreed. The next morning had been hard. I had wanted to go with him to the airport. He'd kissed me and told me that if I went to the airport with him that he wouldn't be able to go. And that was it he was gone.

Finn

Moving to Australia had been hard. I missed Rory like crazy. All I wanted was to be with her. My father assured me that after a sufficient amount of time that he'd let me relocate to New York but the only that I could think of was that it might be too late by then. Rory and I texted off and on but after a while it got to be too hard and we only texted on the important days. On the day of her graduation I had sent her a vase of her favorite flowers and let her know that I was proud of her. I had still kept in contact with Logan and Colin. Logan had assured me that he was keeping an eye on Rory but with graduation approaching it was going to be hard because the Dark Lord was sending him to London. So that only left Rory, Steph and Colin. I found out that Colin was moving in with Rory and Steph. Apparently he and Steph were getting quite serious. The only thing that I could do was count down the days until I could get back to the States and pull Rory back into my arms. I just hoped that when I finally got back that she wouldn't have moved on.

Steph

After graduation, Colin had moved the majority of the stuff that had been in his and Finn's apartment into storage and moved in with me and Rory. We had been getting more serious and even though I didn't want to rub my relationship in my best friend's face it had seemed like the most logical step. I hated seeing my best friend living what seemed like a robot life. All she did was go to school, drink and work part time at the firm. I worried that at some point she was just going to crash. I had managed to convince her to do some traveling occasionally hoping that maybe she'd get on a plane and go see Finn knowing that she needed to but every time she'd get on a plane it was to go see Logan in London. Colin and I were both worried about that situated but neither had given any indication that there was anything going on there.

So we spent the next two years living the same routine. Rory went to school, drank, worked at the firm part time and when she had free time she either went to Hartford or London. On graduation day from Law school, that was when things really started to change. Colin had proposed to me in front of all of our family and friends and I had accepted. Once things had settled down and we'd started to talk about wedding plans we'd decided that Rory would be my maid of honor and that Finn would be best man. Everything would be fine. Our two best friends would see each other, they would work everything out and live happily ever after. Or at least we thought that would happen until we got a phone call. Logan had called from London. He thought that Rory was coming to see him. However, she'd never showed. And to make matters worse… she wasn't answering her phone. That was when the worry set in. The three of us had promised Finn that we'd look after her. He was going to kill us.

Logan

After Finn had left for Australia, I'd done my best to try and keep an eye on Rory. With Rory and I being the only two single ones in the group we'd started hanging out with each other more. At least we did until she got into this robot-like routine. We were all concerned about her, but anytime that Finn called to check in with us about her we all lied and told him that she was fine. At some point Steph had convinced Rory that when she had some free time that she should do some traveling. We were all hoping that she'd put us all out of our misery and go see Finn… try and figure things out but instead she'd ended up coming to see me. She'd come to visit and we'd have a good time. It reminded me of a time when we'd first met and we used to hang out. Before everything got complicated.

When Steph and Colin had gotten engaged I knew that it would be hard for her. When she'd got home that night she'd called me crying and I told her that maybe she should take some time before starting at the firm and come to London. Let the news of their engagement sink in and die down. She'd agreed. She'd told me that she'd let me know when she was coming. I thought that everything was fine. She'd texted me her flight details and I told her that I'd pick her up at the airport. Problem was when I got to the airport that day she wasn't on the plane. When I checked with the airline, she'd never got on the plane. When I called Steph and Colin to let them know we started to get worried. We'd called everyone that we could think of except for Finn. We refused to call him until we were sure that we had something to worry about. Steph and Colin found her three days later passed out in her condo. They'd rushed her to the hospital to find that she had alcohol poisoning. Something had to change. Steph and Colin had decided to put off moving into their condo and moved in with her while she was in the hospital. They'd completely cleared the place of any alcohol. They stayed with her until they were sure that she'd be okay. The three of us wondered if it was time to tell Finn everything but we also knew that if we did that she'd be pissed at us and probably wouldn't forgive us. Only time would tell if things would be okay. Hopefully by the time that Steph and Colin's wedding was here she'd be in a better place and maybe by then Finn would be home.

Lorelai

I was heartbroken for Rory. She finally had a good relationship with a boyfriend and then he had to move to Australia. Damn Hartford Society. After he left I had been worried about her. I noticed that she was drinking more than she used to. Colin, Steph and Logan assured me that they were keeping an eye on her, so I tried to relax a little bit. When she graduated Pre-law she had been happy. Later on I found out that it hadn't been because she graduated but because Finn had sent her flowers. The following Christmas Luke had proposed and Rory actually seemed happy for me. It seemed like she was getting better. She'd even started traveling a little bit. Steph and I had hoped that she would go to Australia but she ended up going to London and spending some time with Logan. He assured me that nothing was going on there. He said that he knew that Rory's heart belonged to Finn and that he was just trying to be there for her the best way that he could. The next spring, when Luke and I got married Logan had flown in to be Rory's date for the wedding wanting to make sure that she was okay.

The hardest day though had been when she graduated from Law School. Her best friend had gotten engaged. She had called me later that night and said that Logan had encouraged her to come spend some time in London while the news of Steph's engagement died down. I told her that I agreed with him. I thought that maybe some distance from Hartford before she started working with Christopher would do her some good. The only thing that I didn't count on was getting a phone call three days later from Steph saying that she and Colin had found Rory passed out in her condo. They'd taken her to the hospital and she had alcohol poisoning. We quickly came up with a plan. Steph and Colin had agreed to move in with Rory and had agreed to stay with her until we felt that she was okay to stay by herself. A month after she came home from the hospital, things seemed to be getting better. She seemed like she was getting back to herself. She had even started working at the law firm. I thought that everything was fine until the week before Steph's engagement party. Steph had called me to tell me that Finn had called. He was moving to New York. I just hoped that things would be ok.

A/N: Okay I know I know. Anyway I hope that you guys enjoyed that chapter. Let me say this now… Rory and Finn are end game. I just didn't like the idea of long distance. There is nothing going on with her and Logan. He just happens to be her best guy friend. The next chapter is gonna be interesting.
