She Ain't My Blood, But She's My Girl
Chapter V
Saturday morning Rory was up early. She had a lot to do to get ready for the housewarming party. The party would be small, at least compared to society parties that she and Logan had to attend. While she was married to Tristain, she was expected to attend parties that reminded her of the Society party in Hartford that she and Logan were made to attend in college. Emily insisted she attend those parties after her divorce. That is where Logan and Rory reunited. Logan was living in London running the European division of HPG.
Logan left for California after Rory turned his proposal down in 2007. He bought into a small tech company that had just got a patent for a gaming app. He was the frontman and they were the techs. By 2009, his company L3, was well known. They sold several apps to Apple. During this time away from the east coast, Mitchum and Logan had formed a somewhat relationship. By 2012, L3 was worth over a billion dollars. L3, Inc, was bought out by Apple.
Logan traveled and wrote a syndicated travel article for HPG. In 2014, Elisa passed away. In his Will, he left Logan his shares of HPG, all his properties around the world, his stamp collection, and his coin collection. The string attached is that Logan would return to HPG as an executive-level to begin the process of taking over when Mitchum retired. Logan returned to London to run the European division of HPG.
Rory stopped by Mia's room to check on her. She was not there, she checked the playroom. Rory went downstairs to ask Claire if she had seen Mia. When she stepped into the kitchen, Claire ssshhed her before she could say anything and pointed to the patio. Logan and Mia were eating breakfast and reading the paper. Mia had the comic section. Logan would tell her about what he was reading about and she would in return tell the story of the pictures in the comic strip. "I think you may have the makings of another newspaper mogul," Claire said. Rory laughed and joined them on the patio.
"Well, looks like someone is up early this morning. You couldn't sleep in your big bed?" Rory asked. "I hearded Grampa leave to go play golf, so I got up. Logan told me I could come eat breakfast with him." Mia said. Rory sat down, "Did aunt Gigi go with him?" Rory said as she was buttering some toast. Mia took a bite of her eggs before saying. "I not see her, but she likes to sleep." "I bet she does," Rory said. "Husband of mine, you are quiet this morning." "Just listening to my girls." He said. "Am I your girl?" Mia asked. "Yes, you and your momma are my girls. That means you let me know if anyone bothers you or if you need something." Logan said. Mia sat there for a few minutes. You could tell she had something on her mind. "Logan? You my daddy now." Mia said. Logan's head snapped out of the paper and looked at Rory, then at Mia. "Well, Mia, it's okay for you to call me Logan right now, later we can discuss you calling me daddy," Logan told her. Mia stood up with her breakfast plate and looked at Logan. "Silly, that is not how it works. You are married to my momma, so that makes you my daddy." She turned around and took her plate to the kitchen. "Wash your hands," Rory told her.
"Rory," "Logan" "Are you uncomfortable with her calling you Daddy?" "No, not at all. I just don't want to cause a problem." "Tristian has not seen or held her since she was a newborn," Rory said. "Is he still paying child support?" Logan asked. Rory shrugged her shoulders. "I'm not sure. I have an account set up for a direct deposit. I thought I would just use that to send her to College, But Dad and Grandpa set up trust funds for her. So, that money is just sitting there collecting interest." Rory said. "So he could have stopped paying and you wouldn't know?" Logan asked. "Technically yes, But his pay comes from the military, child support comes out of his pay automatically," Rory said. "But if this is going to be a problem, I will talk with her, but I think she just wants a daddy like all her friends," Rory said.
Rory got up from the table, carrying her plate to the kitchen. "I'm going to check on her and help her make her bed. I will see if Gigi wants any breakfast." Rory left going upstairs. Clarie came out on the patio. "Mr. Logan, if they continue to pick up after themselves, they are going to take a job away from one of the maids," Claire said. Logan laughed, He laughed deep. "You try to tell her that," Logan said, and just for the devil of it, picked up his plate and took it to the sink.
Chris returned from playing golf. He was coming in the front door as Logan was exiting the kitchen. "How was your game today?" Logan asked. "Descent. Parred on hole #8, that is probably as good as I am going to do. Do you ever play?" "Sometimes, but mostly with clients or investors," Logan said. "Yeah, I have probably closed more divorce cases on the golf course than in my office," Chris said.
Rory and Logan were getting out of the shower. They were running late. Of course, they are. They are newlyweds. Rory was drying her hair and Logan was getting dressed. He was going downstairs to greet their guest when they arrived so Rory could get dressed. He stopped by Mia's room and knocked on the door. "Can I come in?" Logan asked. "Come on it, we are putting the finishing touches on Mia's hair," Gigi said. Logan opened the door. "Wow, you are beautiful, both of you." Mia is wearing toddler girls' white Lace Trim Legging with an Original Reversible Twirly Red Ruffle Skirt Velvet Holiday, paired with a white long sleeve, soft knit, mock turtleneck slim-fit pullover. When Gigi finished putting the red and white bow in her hair, Mia twirled around so Logan could see her skirt spin. "Look, Daddy." "I see pumpkin. Are you ready to greet our guest while Aunt Gigi finishes getting dressed?" Logan asked. Mia nodded.
Gigi left to finish her outfit. She is wearing London Straight-Leg Jeans by Slvrlake, with a Loop Terry Wrap Tank Top by Sol Angleles. She still needed to put on her Open-front Boucle Jacket by Iro Shavani and a pair of Bloc Stretch Leather zip Ankle Boots by Bottega Veneta. Gigi met Rory coming out of their room. "Hey you look good," Rory said to Gigi. Gigi stepped back to look at Rory. She had on a pair of Caught in the Midi High-Waist Space-Dye Legging by Beyond Yoga, with a Serenity Long-Sleeve Tunic Sweater by Natori. She was wearing a pair of Belle Leather Red-Sole Ankle Boots by Christian Louboutin. "You too," Gigi said. "Can I borrow the boots sometime?" Gigi asked. Rory laughed. "We will see."
When Rory got downstairs, Logan and Mia were greeting guests. Mitchum and Shira had just arrived along with Honor, Josh. and their son Trac. He is 10 years old. Mitchum and Shira were talking with Mia. Asking her how she liked her new house and didn't she want a baby brother? Rory heard that. "Mitchum, Shira. Shame on you. Trying to get Mia to do your dirty work." Rory said with a smile. Let me get you a drink. Mitchum laughed. "You can't blame us for trying. We want more grandchildren." Mitchum said following Rory to the bar. "Hear, Hear, I vote aye, More grandchildren," Lorelai said walking up behind them at the bar. "Mom," Rory said. "Lorelai, Shira, and I were telling Mia that she should be asking for a little brother or sister," Mitchum said. "That's a good idea, I will start on her tonight," Lorelai said. Rory just shook her head.
The party progressed. Rory and Logan both took turns going up and down the stairs, showing off the house. Rory would take the elevator up and give the tour on the way down. Everyone complimented them on the house and the decorations.
