"Hey, Ace..." Logan called from the bed to Rory who was still sitting in front of her vanity mirror doing her night skin treatment in the most excruciatingly slow movement ever. "Something on your mind?"

She looked at his through the reflection on the mirror. "What do you mean?" Her expression was innocent and confused, but her eyes told him a different story. Something is bothering her, but he couldn't tell what or how she felt about it.

"You are awfully quiet, you spent the whole ride back from the gala glancing on the window, barely say any words to me, you spent half an hour in the bathroom and another half hour in front of that mirror," he answered. "I know I sounded like a girl, but I have a hunch that something is bothering you and you don't tell me, and I don't like that you don't tell me... it makes me wondering and anxious, and I don't like being anxious. And did I mention that we promised to share anything and everything?"

Her wide grin calmed his heart a little. Maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought. Maybe he was being overthinking. But he still wanted to know.

"Mitchum offered me a job," she finally said.

"He did?" Logan genuinely surprised.

"You didn't know about this?"

"Well, I had a hunch. The guy practically treats you as a family, I mean you know it was really awkward for me to see you interact with my family at Thanksgiving as if you've been their in law for years. And he being so protective of you made me could've fooled me into thinking that you are his daughter if not you're being the only brunette in the sea of blondes that my family is..."

She smiled warmly, obviously the feeling was mutual and that warmed his heart, knowing that his girlfriend loves his family.

"You know how I feel about getting a job out of connections,"

"What? Ace, come on. Surely you know now that my father is not that kind of guy. He respects you. He let you write his golden memoir, for heaven's sake. Means he trusts you, and that is one level above respect in his book,"

"You think so?"

"I know so, Ace. You see Honor? She's a closer relative than you. But do you see her working for the Group? No. Because she doesn't have it. She isn't cut out in the newspaper business and she's doing perfectly fine being a DAR lady and a successful YouTuber. Of course that you being a family close friends and my girlfriend would be an advantage, as you will easily get the attention, which means your talent and achievements will definitely be recognized instantly. Which means your career will progress faster than your colleagues. But Ace, if you don't have it, even I won't be able to help you. You should know that. And start looking at that mirror differently," he approached her and put his hands on her shoulders, looking directly at her eyes in the mirror.

"I see a great writer. Witty, funny, original, and thorough. A writer who capture hearts and making people enjoy her writing. Someone with a bunch of important contacts and connections. And someone who has the right experience and background. I saw how you command YDN, I saw how you navigate your way in the Time Magazine. And all those lost years that I kept tabs on your works? I saw how you evolve as a writer. And if you ask me as an executive in a news business, I'd say it would be wise to snatch you for Time and have you on our side,"

He kissed the peak of her head. "I would've hired you on the spot if I was sure that you won't make a big deal out of it and accuse me of being bias,"

She put her hand on top of his and smiling at him with a pair of glistening eyes. "Thank you, Logan. You know that you're amazing, right?"

"Is that mean that I'm getting a Christmas treat?"

"You're a pervert,"

"What? I wasn't working blue, get your mind out of the gutter, Gilmore..."

"So what did you mean with a Christmas treat then?"

"Ice cream," he challenged her. Her brows shot up in disbelief cocking her head at the window where snow falls beautifully. "Okay, too cold for ice cream. Whipped cream then,"

"Oh ho ho... tell me again how you're not working blue now,"

"I'll grab the whipped cream,"

"Hey, Logan!" Chris shouted from the backyard when he noticed Logan emerged from the stairs towards the kitchen. "Breakfast's on the kitchen island! Grab whatever you like but you need to start another pot for coffee though! Lorelai drank the one we brewed,"

"Morning, Chris! As expected. I'll start another pot. Rory's coming down in a second," he answered while grabbing the empty pot and wash it before starting another pot, the coffee maker had done its humble duty this morning, and a certain Gilmore girl had ravished it mercilessly leaving no single drop for a couple who was so tired of their trip last night to overslept.

Although to his defense, it was just a little over eight o'clock after all and the trip to the Hayden family's vacation home in the Hamptons where Lorelai and Chris decided to spend their holidays and invited them, was exhausting enough Rory and him dropped dead the second they butts touched the bed. God, they're old, but you try driving out of the city on the 23rd of December.

He sighed. Rory didn't let him fly them in with a chopper. He thought that her fright for flying was because she fear being in an airport where people from all over the country at, so he offered the chopper to pick them up at the HPG building, but she still refused. So they had to drive from New York to the Hamptons in the busiest time of the year. Correction, he had to drive them while Rory chirping all the way about Christmas which was her and Lorelai's favorite holiday (correction again, every holiday is their favorite holiday), and telling him about her Christmases. When he in turn contribute his Christmas stories, she got bored after the fourth Christmas he spent with Colin, Finn, and Robert. "They were all the same, just different locations!" She commented that time.

"Ah, coffee's up!" Lorelai popped up in the kitchen just in time the coffee maker finished brewing. "Morning, Logan. Morning, Chris! Thanks for the coffee," she said pouring his fresh coffee into two large mugs, put them on the tray along with two muffins, two chocolate croissants, and five danishes Logan had no idea where she got them.

"Be ready at 10, guys! We have a long day awaits!" She yelled from the bottom stairs.

Logan chuckled then started another pot. He should've known that Lorelai will hog Rory for the day, if not the whole holidays. God he hoped not the whole holidays because as much as he liked Chris, this was his first holiday with Rory after ten years, and he'd been looking forward to spend it with her.

But Lorelai missed her so much, since the first call on Thanksgiving they had spent a lot of time on the phone because they haven't had the chance to visit each other, but the calls sometimes at night, when it supposed to be Logan's time. And last night when they arrived, Lorelai and Rory instantly fell into their bubble after a short acknowledgement of Logan.

"So, you're stuck babysitting me while Lorelai hog my girlfriend?" Logan asked Chris jokingly when he joined him for coffee on the breakfast table.

"Yeah, could never say no to those eyes," he grinned.

"I know the feeling. Thank you for inviting us here, I have a feeling that I might be spending this holiday mostly with you," Logan reasoned.

"Yeah I guess she invited me exactly for that reason. Anyway, life treating you good lately?"

Logan instantly beamed when his mind raced his mouth to answer the question. "Well, never better. I am with Rory now. Everything is right and well in the world again,"

Christopher chuckled at the younger man's almost giddy reaction when thinking about his daughter.

"I know I will sound like a wuss, but honestly speaking, maybe I'm just lucky to have found my soulmate so early in the day, and I am beyond lucky to be reunited with her again. No matter how long it took. Not everyone got second chances, you know?"

Christopher shot him a knowing look, "Oh believe me, I know. I know perfectly well. If you remember I had my chance several times now. Lorelai and me, we took too many twists and turns and one hell of a tragedy to get here. She didn't need me when she raised Rory, but she needed me after Texas. We took care of Rory together, and it bonded us more than ever. But we finally got here. I hope this is forever and I won't screw this up again. So you see, I know very well about your soulmate theory,"

This time Logan chuckled.

"This is why I know you're perfect for my daughter, Logan. Because you and I, we're in the same group. The victims of the Gilmore Girls group. And hey, you've got your act together way earlier than I was. And Rory is way more sensible than her mother. I'm sure you both will be okay,"

"Thank you for supporting us, you always had been..." Logan said sincerely.

"Not the first time, I didn't..."

"Yeah, I figured..." Logan agreed remembering the first time he met Christopher half dressed in the country club's dressing room on Richard and Emily's vow renewal, after got caught making out with Rory by Lorelai.

"But you're okay... and it wasn't like I had any other choice for that matter. The girl only had eyes on you, no matter how much she wanted to stop or to want someone else. It hurt to saw her struggle getting herself out of love with you, and it was a pain seeing her close herself out... but learning how she was treated by that Lewis guy, a beast woke up in me. To say I was gonna murder that guy in a slow and painful way was an understatement. I wanted him to suffer a long and excruciating pain that lasted for a lifetime..." he pinched the peak of his nose and closed his eyes. Logan let the memories took over for a moment.

"I know how you feel. I might have hurt her one way or another, but I could never dream of hurting her physically. It crushes me too, knowing that someone treated her that way. I couldn't even imagine,"

"Yeah, it was a nightmare."

"I promise you Chris. That from now on, I will do everything in my power to protect her. I will keep her safe, I won't let her slip away from me this time," he pledged.

"I know you will. I trust you, Logan..." Christopher replied with an assuring smile.

"Thanks, Chris. I wish I could say the same about your wife,"

"Don't worry. Lorelai is the most suspicious and cynical human being, especially about Rory. But she's also logical. And once she sees that you'll treat her daughter well, she'll come around. And I can say that it won't be long. You being so smitten by Rory is so obvious, it's sickening. It even embarrasses us men,"

"I'll take that rather than ten years without her,"

"You're a wuss,"

"Eh, right back at you." They both laughed heartily.
