(32)-The Day After.
Haddonfield Hotel
November 1st, (1978)
Inside a hotel suit, Tommy sat at the foot of one of the beds, watching the News on TV, with the remote beside him. Tommy had never watched the News a day in his life. He always thought it was boring and that there was never anything good on it. As far back as he could remember, whenever he would watch TV, it was either on the cartoons, the paranormal shows, or the monster movies.
But on the morning of November 1st-1978, the 8-year old's eyes were glued to the screen as a lady on the News, sitting at a desk, explained all of last night's events concerning the Boogyman. After his parents went down into the lobby to prepare breakfast with Lindsey, her parents, Timmy and his parents, Tommy had turned on the TV and flipped on the News channel to see if there was anything related to what had happened last night. And there it was on the News pain as day, with a banner at the bottom that read HALLOWEEN MASSACRE-BOOGYMAN ARRESTED.
There was no school today due to the event that transpired last night, and he imagined it would probably be like that for a while until all of the murdered victims were laid to rest.
Surprisingly, Tommy had slept peacefully the rest of the night. For once, there were no nightmares of any kind. Especially not about the Boogyman.
On screen, the anchor-woman sitting behind her desk explained last night's events.
"After escaping Smith's Grove Sanitarium on the night of October 30th, 21-year old Michael Myers, the kid who killed his sister on Halloween night-1963, when he was just 6 years old was arrested late last night after murdering 14 people in cold blood." The anchor-woman explained.
Tears filled Tommy's eyes as he watched the News. He was in a state of shock. He couldn't believe that the Boogyman had killed all those people in one night while he was after him.
"Dr. Samuel Loomis, Myers' psychiatrist, says Myers would've continued killing if he had not been apprehended outside his childhood home late last night. The bodies of two dogs and human skeleton remains were recovered from the Myers home, and the remains were revealed to belong to those of missing serial child killer, Frank N. Stiner, who was no doubt Myers' first victim in 1963, according to the time of death in the autopsy report. Stiner had apparently been living in a tunnel under the home without the Myers family's knowledge." The anchor-woman said.
The tears ran down Tommy's face as he cried for all the murdered victims. He wondered why it was that they all got killed and he didn't. Cause he was the one the Boogyman was after. He was the one the Boogyman had captured and taken to his lair. Then his mind went from that to the realization that he could be dead right now. He could be one of the murdered victims, but he escaped.
"Among Myers' victims last night were four teenagers. Annie Brackett, Lynda Van Der Klock, Bob Simms and Alice Martin." The anchor-woman said, revealing the identities of some of the fatalities.
Tommy gasped deeply as more tears filled his eyes. He felt like someone had punched him in the stomach and knocked the wind out of him. The News lady revealed that the Boogyman had killed 14 people, including Annie, Logan's sister, Lynda, her boyfriend, Bob, and Holly's cousin, Alice. Tommy knew Alice very well, as she would babysit him sometimes whenever Laurie, Annie and Lynda were watching other kids. He had gotten his confirmation with Annie. She was the unconscious girl he saw the Boogyman carrying into Lindsey's house last night. Only she wasn't unconscious...she was dead. He already knew that Annie was gone, but now he knew for a fact that she was gone. Tommy remained in a state of shock as the new tears fell from his eyes. He couldn't think, he couldn't talk. All he did was rock and cry. He was devastated. That was all his fault. If he could talk to Logan, his friends, and the victims right now, he would tell them he was sorry over and over and over again, because...he was the one who brought the Boogyman into their lives.
"The list of Myers' victims continued at the Haddonfield Hospital where he murdered ten staff-members. He even tried to kill another teenager named Laurie Strode, according to Dr. Loomis." The anchor-woman said.
Tommy felt awful. He felt awful for all the families of the victims, especially Logan and his parents. He felt responsible for this whole tragedy. Because of him, Logan didn't have a sister anymore. Because of him, Logan's parents didn't have a daughter anymore. Tommy blamed himself for everything that happened last night. How could he have let this happen? He couldn't understand how he could not know that this monster was out there murdering teenagers and grown-ups while it was after him and Laurie. Tommy was completely distraught over having brought the Boogyman to the people of Haddonfield. He brought that monster into their lives and caused all of this. And then once it was in the real world, it killed countless people, including people that he knew. And he blamed himself for it.
A knock at the door then startled Tommy, snapping him out of his thoughts. Thinking it was his parents, he got the remote and turned off the TV, followed by placing it back on the foot of the bed beside him. He quickly wiped the tears from his face and then got up to face the door. "Who is it?"
"It's Lindsey."
Tommy walked up to the door and un-locked and opened it, revealing Lindsey on the other side. "Hey."
"Hi." Lindsey greeted.
"What's up?" Tommy asked.
"Your parents sent me to get you." Lindsey answered. "They wanted me to let you know that breakfast is ready and for you to come down in the lobby and join us. That is...if you're up for it. Are you?"
Tommy was silent for a moment before answering. "Yeah. Yeah, sure. Why not?" He said, with a smile on his face. The 8-year old then exited the suit, closed the door, and headed down to the lobby with Lindsey to join the others for breakfast.
