Chapter 21

Rory POV

The next morning when I woke up, it took a minute to remember that for the first time in a long time I wasn't alone in my bed. Granted, Finn was the only guy that had ever slept in this bed but still it had been a while. I glanced over at Finn and saw that he was still asleep. I thought about the previous night and hoped that this meant what I hoped it did. I loved this man so much that it hurt. I wanted nothing more than to wake up like this for the rest of my life but I wasn't sure if he wanted that. I slid out of bed carefully not waking him up. I threw my robe on and went to start coffee. After starting the coffee I went back to my bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. As soon as I stepped into the shower and had gotten my hair wet I felt a pair of hands on my hips. "I thought you were sleeping." I said, slowly opening my eyes.

"I was but then I heard the shower. You know that I can't resist you in the shower." He said with a goofy grin on his face.

I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Well then by all means… have your way with me." I said before leaning up and kissing him.

When Finn and I had gotten out of the shower and had gotten dressed we made our way to the kitchen for coffee. I knew that this would be my moment to find out what would be next. I poured our coffee and sat it on the table. I grabbed my cell phone and sat down to drink my coffee. "So…now what?" I asked him.

He looked up at me confused for a second. He reached across the table and grabbed my hand. "Ror, I'm here to stay this time. There is no way that I'm leaving you again." He said and I smiled.

"What about your dad?" I asked him.

He took a drink of his coffee and sat it down. "I'm going to see him this morning and tell him that I'm moving my home base to Hartford. I missed going to sleep next to you and waking up next to you. I missed mornings like this. I don't want to go back to before." He said.

"Me neither but what if your dad has a problem with you moving to Hartford?" I asked, knowing that it was a possibility.

He sighed. "Rory, I don't care if he has a problem with it. He can either accept it or I'll quit." He said. I knew that he was serious because he'd never once threatened to quit his family's company before.

"Okay." I said right as my phone rang. I picked it up. "Hayden." I said answering my cell phone.

Finn POV

I sat at the table and finished my coffee while Rory answered her cell. "Have him wait in the conference room and I'll be right there." She said ending her call and dropping her phone onto the counter.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Well… apparently your dad is at my office and he is demanding to see me." She said.

I couldn't believe this. I hadn't seen my dad since I'd moved back and now he was going after Rory. "Let's go." I said standing up and we left.

When we got to Rory's office I followed her to the conference room. "Mr. Morgan." She said.

"Ah… Miss Hayden." He said then he looked past her and saw me. "Son."

"Dad." I said. I put my arm around Rory's waist and pulled her closer to me. "What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Well, I was under the impression that you were moving to New York to run our corporate office there but then imagine my surprise when I hear that you haven't even made an appearance." Dad said.

"That's because I'm not going to be working in New York dad. I'm moving to Hartford. I've already called the movers." I told him. Rory looked up at me surprised.

"Yeah I thought that you might say that. You know I didn't find it all that surprising that you'd show up this morning with her." He said.

"Good. Cause it's not. I told you when I left for Australia that it wouldn't be a permanent thing. I told you then that my place was here with Rory. Now if you can't understand that… then I'd be more than happy to type up my letter of resignation today. I'm sure that there are other hotel chains that would be more than happy to have my services." I said to him. There was no way in hell that I was going to let him bully me this time.

"That won't be necessary. I came here to give you your freedom back. See despite what either of you might think about me… I did all of this for the two of you. I did it so that you could be successful in life together." Dad said.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked him.

Rory put her hand on my chest to calm me down. "Finn." She whispered.

My dad looked back at Rory. "Do you have the contract ready?" He asked her.

I looked down at her. "I do." She said. I was completely confused. Rory called for her assistant to bring the file. Rory handed the file to my Dad. "We'll give you a minute to look it over." She said then gestured for me to follow her.

We walked into her office and she closed the door. "What was that?" I asked her.

She let out a sigh leaning against the door. "A month ago, my Dad called me into his office and your dad was sitting there. Apparently, my dad has been your dad's attorney for years. Anyway, my dad tells me that your dad asked him to write up a contract for your dad." She says and I nod. "He tells me that my Dad had clued him in on my depression over the last couple of years and that he's sorry and he blames himself. He then tells me that he sent you to Australia so that we'd have the best chance possible to succeed. He wanted us to not have each other as distractions as we started our careers."

"That's bullshit." I said.

"I know." She said, looking right into my eyes.

"What else did he say?" I asked afraid of the answer.

"Then he proceeds to tell me that he had started the process of bringing you home. He wouldn't tell me when you'd be home just that you would be. Then he told me about the contract." She said walking over to her mini fridge and grabbing a couple bottles of water, handing me one. She opened hers a took a drink. "He said that the contract would give you complete freedom from him. The contract also signs the company over to you…completely." She finished.

I sighed and sat on the couch in her office. "Wow." I said sitting there thinking about everything that she'd just said.

She walked over and sat beside me. "Look, I'm sorry that I didn't say anything sooner. I just…"

"Couldn't." I said and she nodded. I grabbed her and pulled her into my lap wrapping my arms around her. "I'm sorry. It's just a lot to take in."

"I get it. I do. When I found out about the contract, I wanted nothing more than to jump on a plane and come to you but I knew that I could because if I did then your dad could have sued me." She told me.

I nodded. I knew that she'd put in a bad spot and that my dad had been the one to put her there. "We should go back in there." I said, not really wanting to.

When we walked into the conference room, my Dad was sitting there drinking a cup of coffee and looking over the contract. No doubt making sure that it was up to his standard. "So… where do I sign?" I asked.

Rory POV

That night when I got home from work, I sat on my couch and decided to call Mom. I needed to let her know what was going on and that Finn was planning to move in with me and that we were working on getting things back to normal. "Hey Mom." I said when she answered.

"Oh hey sweets. How's it going?" She asked.

"Lots going on here." I told her. Then I proceeded to tell her everything.

"Wow. That is a lot." She said.

"Yeah I know."

"You know Ror, it might not necessarily be a bad thing to talk to your therapist about the drinking thing. She might be able to help you set limits for yourself so that things don't get out of control again." Mom said.

"I get that Mom, I do. And god knows there's times I want a drink… especially at functions but I feel like it's too much of a temptation." I told her and it was the truth.

"Okay fair enough. So where's Finn tonight?"

"He's meeting with Colin. He wanted Colin to take a look at the contract then he was going to head to New York. He's gotta meet with the staff tomorrow and let them know that he was going to be moving the headquarters to Hartford." I told her.

"You sound happy kid."

"For the first time in a long while I really am."

"I'm glad. You two should come down this weekend." Mom said.

"I'll talk to Finn."

A/N: Okay so there's the next chapter. Finn's family loves Rory and they think that she is good for him. So let me just say that Finn's dad sending him to Australia was nothing like when Mitchum sent Logan to London. Next chapter…Stars Hollow here we come.
