"Merry Christmas, Logan..."
Logan shifted trying to ignore the sound by burying his head deeper in the pillows.
"Logan," the sound insisted. This time with a poke to his ribs.
"No, Ace..." he grunted. They stayed up so late last night, preparing what the girls said the Gilmore's Christmas tradition.
It had started at noon with their claimed to be traditional Christmas lunch, then off to find a Christmas tree which was a nightmare to do on the 24th, then they sat for hot chocolate and coffee of course, with a bunch of sugary treats that made Logan's stomach growled in protest. They went to the house afterwards, and put on the millions Christmas decor including the Christmas tree with a gnome angel on top of it and mistletoes on the ceiling fan. When they finished, the whole house looked like a Christmas tree, branches and leaves scattered everywhere, angels and gnomes, and lights, of course lights. Not that it would matter much for the Haydens, but someone's gonna pay a large sum of electricity bill.
And then they told him and Chris to sit and enjoy their beer while they bake. Bake? He must have heard wrong. But Chris assured him it was okay. So Logan went to have a beer with him on the back patio. Not long after, and a suspiciously burnt smell, they emerged holding a perfectly baked batch of Christmas cookies that actually tasted really delicious. But it was also super suspicious because no way in that timeline they could have made three tins of biscuits and three jars of cookies as well as almost a dozen small packages they claimed to want to share to little neighbors kids.
And then he saw a small faded logo on the back of one of the cookies that looked very similar to the coffee shop's logo they visited to have hot chocolate and coffee. Those slimy little minxes just laughed devilishly at his 'innocence' that he for a second thought they would have baked for real.
Then they invited him and Chris for a Christmas dinner, but he was no fool anymore. He'd expected some restaurant food served as if it was home-cooked by those two women in aprons.
After dinner they sat for a Christmas movie marathon that lasted until four in the morning, so Logan was under the impression that he got to sleep in this morning. But his very persistent girlfriend was now on top of him, forcing him to open his eyes. He reluctantly open his left eye.
But what he saw was a dream come true. His Ace in a very sexy Santa costume and the most alluring red lipstick ever looking down at him with a seductive smile. Logan groaned as he felt his lower body stiffened in response.
"Merry Christmas, Logan..."
"Oh, Ace. This is the merriest Christmas ever," he replied as he turned his body so that Rory straddled his lap. He put his hands on the sides of her thighs and stroking them gently.
"You have been a very nice boy this year, Santa sent me to give you your Christmas present..."
"He did?" the room just got a lot hotter for Logan he could feel the oxygen leaving his lungs.
"Yes, now shut up so that you can get the present before the two giants down the hall wake up,"
"Way to remind me that your parents are just two doors away,"
"Relax, they're probably still sleeping..."
"Yeah, I don't like the word probably..."
"Relax, Logan. I locked the door this time,"
"Yeah, but did you also activated the sound proof? Because you know that you aren't exactly a quiet person,"
"Well then, you would have to find very creative ways to drown my sounds. Maybe... you should put something in my mouth?" She asked oh so very innocently.
"Is that a challenge, Miss Gilmore?"
The smirked on her face spoke volumes. And they spent more than an hour enjoying his Christmas present making them show up for Christmas brunch a little late. Lorelai and Christopher had already sat on the kitchen island enjoying coffee and scones.
"Exciting morning, kids?" Lorelai teased from behind her coffee cup.
"Oh you bet it was," Rory answered with a wink while grabbing herself a cup of coffee. Logan felt his cheeks burned and he tailed Rory after giving Lorelai and Chris an awkward smile.
"Why would you say something like that?"
"A girl won't pass up a chance to make you blush, it doesn't happen too often," she grinned mischievously while handing him his coffee.
"I will pay you back," he replied, planting a kiss as a thank you for the coffee.
Thankfully Chris wasn't as eager as Lorelai to tease him, and he moved the party to the living room where the tree was at.
"Merry Christmas, everyone. Let's open the presents!" He announced.
"Merry Christmas!" They all cheered and hugged each other, and Logan was surprised to receive a hug from Lorelai. "Merry Christmas, limo boy," she smiled, handing him a box of gift. "Open it!" She said then continued to distribute her gifts to Rory and Chris.
They all exchanged gifts and busied themselves opening them and he was startled for a second when he saw Lorelai's gift for him. A Thor hammer and Captain America shield? He looked up and saw a very excited Lorelai.
"It's a Thor hammer meat tenderizer and Captain America shield cutting board," she wiggled her eyebrows. "Genius right?! You never know what a genius mind like mine works. I just remembered one time you cooked for us, and I thought, well... the guy was an excellent cook, he must love these. Plus, this way you will remember me while cooking, therefore increase my chance to be invited for free meals," she explained, clearly very proud of herself.
"Well, first of all, I didn't cook. I grilled. And it wasn't meat, it was lobster... but this is a thoughtful gift. And I like it anyway," he grinned appreciatively. The fact that Lorelai gave him a Christmas gift was already a gift itself. He didn't care what was in it, although he knew for sure that Lorelai wasn't someone who gives ordinary gifts. And it was confirmed when Christopher opened his.
"Pickle rick sleeping bag! For when you be a bad boy and you have to sleep outside," she announced.
"Our house has five bedrooms, Lorelai. I could sleep in any of them," Chris laughed at his wife's thought process.
"No, if you were a bad boy, you sleep in this in front of our bedroom door," she insisted.
Christopher answered with a kiss so passionately it only stopped when Rory cleared her throat.
"Now mine!" She opened it and found a super sized sweater. "Mom, this is genius!" She put it on and the sweater wrapped her all the way to her ankles. "Oh yes. This is super comfy, alright! I won't need a blanket anymore!" She commented giddily.
"Yes, and Logan won't be able to paw you when you're watching movies on the couch and distract you,"
"Well, if you think this sweater would be able to stop him, think again..."
Logan instantly blushed at that comment and cursed the fact that he could not say anything back although he'd thought of a good comeback for that that included his famous pawing skills. He had to remind himself that even though they are like the coolest parents in the world, they are still Rory's parents. They absolutely don't need to know about his pawing skills. Besides, chiming in will just encourage this extremely inconvenient conversation, and he really would prefer not talking about this in the future. So he kept his mouth shut, promising himself that he will get Rory back in a different way.
The rest of the gifts were ordinary other than Rory's melting clock gift for her mom. Logan gifted Lorelai a box of extravagant Luwak Coffee from Kalimantan and Chris a box of Cuban cigars. Rory gave her Dad a pair of fancy cufflinks and her Mom a pair of chili earrings, yes you heard right, a pair of gold earrings in the shape of chilies, including the red painted points. But they seemed to made Lorelai very happy.
Christopher gave Logan a silk tie, very impersonal, and far fetched for his liking, but he thanked him anyway. Obviously he didn't put a lot of thought on that and Logan didn't mind. But to Rory, he gave a set of keys. Lorelai eyed the keys suspiciously.
"Chris, is that what I think it is?"
"If you're thinking it's a set of keys, then yes."
"Keys to what?"
"This house. I've always wanted her to have it, but never thought she would come here that often given that...uhm, unfortunate incident," he cleared his throat. "But now that she has Logan, and they are together, I figured they would need a vacation house,"
"Chris, what did I tell you about giving thousand dollars gifts to the kids and make me look like a bad mom because I gave her a sweater?"
"Well actually this house worth a little more than a million now, but please Lorelai? I have always gave her something modest all these times, and for once I want to give her something grand. Something that will last a long long time,"
Logan very much doubt that this house only worth a million dollars, but wise enough to keep his mouth shut.
"Yeah, don't think I don't know about the diamonds. You've been gifting her diamonds cost a fortune for years, Chris..." Lorelai rolled her eyes and Chris leaned over to kiss her. "And you sure know how to silence me,"
Logan smiled. Lorelai and Christopher seemed happy and compatible this time. He wondered what happened to her and Luke, because he thought those two were end game, but he didn't dare to ask. Besides, they looked happy and satisfied and Rory seemed to be very happy about it after she got passed the elope thing. And it was all that mattered.
"Dad, I don't know what to say. I mean, this is huge..."
"Hey, I know how you always enjoy coming here. And for some time this place was your sanctuary. I want you to have it. To remind you that you are strong, you have gotten through hell and survived. This place was the witness of you struggling to come out of the darkness. I want you to have it," he looked at Rory intently, squeezing Lorelai's hand lightly and added, "we want you to have it..."
"Yeah, what he said..." Lorelai added with a hoarse voice, the memories of those dreadful times reflected in her eyes as she squeezed back Chris' hand hard.
Logan handed a tissue to Rory who accepted it gladly and wiped the corner of her eyes, then jumped to hug her parents. "You guys are the best,"
Lorelai sniffled but said, "hear that, limo boy? We're the best," and continued with sticking her tongue out, making them all laughed wholeheartedly.
She has a vacation house now that they can visit anytime they want. Logan couldn't stop himself from picturing them spending vacations and holidays there, cozying up with each other. But then a more disturbing picture snuck in, them snuggling in that love chair at the back patio, watching little children playing in the backyard, or running on the beach. Children with blonde hairs and blue eyes. Theirs.
Logan had been dreaming and wanting it for some time now. But he knew that Rory needs time to heal, and he didn't know how she feels about children, plus with what that trauma that caused to her ability to have children, he didn't know how to ask her about it without jeopardizing her psychology progress. There were still so much to work on their relationship and themselves. This wasn't the right time.
And so he kept convincing himself.
