A/n.: hi thanks for the kind words and encouragement you guys left me in the comments. I love that there are still lots of us who are still in love with these two and excited to go back to picturing them together.
Also, decemberjeffries, I'm glad someone agree with me about the depth of Logan's gift. We all know that he was a total romantic guy, but this was another level of cheesiness, it melts my heart... 3
Moreover, I was surprised to see some support for Lor and Chris because I know they weren't the favorite couple in the world of fandom... lol. Anyways, thanks again and enjoy the story...

The rest of the holidays went too quickly for him, it always happens when he's having a good time. They didn't go out much, but there were always something to do with the Gilmore girls. At one point they did try cooking and it was an epic disaster that it probably safe to say that they won't even try again for another five years.
The new year's eve was his favorite. Instead of went club hopping like he always did since he was old enough to say Huntzberger, they stayed in. They ordered what could be the most random set of food, you could say it was 'world representative' since they had one food from all over the world, which he would have to say, didn't agreed well with his stomach as the morning after visits to the bathroom could testify.
They played board games, where the girls cheated of course, and ended the night watching the fireworks from their heated and comfy patio. One could say it was magical seeing those colors on the dark sky above a white landscape. And with Rory in his arms the whole time, and that midnight kiss, he would say that he had a great feeling about this year he couldn't wait to start it.
If only he had some kind of clue or hints, or even premonition about Rory and where they stand now, he would've given her a completely different jewelry this Christmas, he thought as his mind flew to the blue velvet box sitting in a secluded corner of his trunk.
He knew he was being impatient, but he had bought that ring a few weeks ago in a whim. He had just passed a jewelry store, a random store, when his eyes caught the ring and instantly thought of Rory. It was perfect for her, the simplicity of it, and how the blue diamond shone like the twinkling in her eyes. And it was like his body moved on his own when he entered the store and made a purchase.
But of course that thing made him anxious. There was something about having a ring and waiting for a right moment that kept him on edge. She had just agreed to move in together and she didn't look like anywhere ready to put a ring on it yet.
Yet there he went doing ring shopping. Impulse buying at it's worst. Now he was anxious if she found out about it. She might freak out and whatever progress they had made to this point would be ruined.
That was why he made it his mission to check on the ring every chance he got and breathed a sigh of relieved every time he found the ring exactly in its place, in a random sock, in the socks bag, along with five other socks, in the corner of the trunk. It was where he found it when he was packing up to go to San Fransisco at the end of his holiday. Rory still has a few days on her holiday, but she couldn't come with him so she stayed there with her parents until he completes his trip and they would regroup in her apartment.
"Hey, limo-boy..." Lorelai's head popped at the door. "Are you almost ready? Chris had brought the car up front and Rory is filling the to go cups with coffee, you might want to hurry before she leaves you with not a single drop of that energizing nectar..."
"Yeah, yeah... I'm coming," he panicky shoved the blue box back into the sock and quickly readied himself, praying that Lorelai didn't see the box.
But of course it was a wistful thinking. As when he was done with his suitcase and went out to the hall, he found Lorelai there looking at him with her piercing blue eyes, a lot alike with Rory's but minus the friendly and warm sparkle Rory has for him. Which made it just a pair of icy blue eyes that sent shivers through Logan's bones.
"So, I thought I saw something familiar. A box." She started. "Little blue box,"
Logan sighed. Of course. Not even his lucky stars could get him away from this.
"Yeah, you've never seen it before actually," he corrected.
"So it's a different ring?"
He nodded.
"Same purpose though?"
He nodded again.
"You think she refused you because your ring wasn't of her taste?"
Logan let out a nervous laugh. "No, no... it's just, the other one was... well, gone." He finished his nervous answer with a sigh.
Lorelai's eyebrows shot up in questions.
"I threw it in the ocean. The beach of SS Palo Alto to be precise... out of my sad attempt to start anew. To forget what happened back home, to forget her, start fresh," he shrugged.
"Well, you did a great job at that," she praised in a mock tone.
"Haha, thank you... I now know that it was a pathetic and futile effort," he grinned sheepishly. Lorelai grinned back.
He considered his next step carefully before deciding to continue the conversation. "I had never spent a single day not thinking about her. Whatever brief. Sometimes it was just a slight thought, sometimes it was a long and excruciating memories that usually ended up with a hideous hangover. And sometimes she came at me in dreams, these are the most painful. Because in those dreams we were happy again, and I got my heart broken every time I wake up..."
His fingers found a loose thread at the end of his sweater and he played with it for a while. Contemplating if he should continue. Lorelai seemed to not want to continue, she might also wished she hadn't asked at all.
"I haven't dated a single woman without comparing them to her. Always find something wrong with them. I tried girls that were the complete opposite from her, and the girls that looked like her... but they were just not enough,"
Lorelai's expression didn't change but he didn't care. He needed to get it out of his system. Because even if he was tired of defending himself to Rory's people, this one particular people is actually the key. She's the most important people in Rory's life, and having her on his side, on their side, would mean so much.
He needed to explain himself to her. He needed to make her understand.
"She is my end game, Lorelai. She is the one for me, and I know this for sure because I have tried every other women and not one of them came close. And I know she isn't ready. I'm not gonna rush to it and break our hearts again like the last time," he promised.
"Why did you buy the ring then?" She prodded.
"Because I believe we're heading there. I hope. Because I won't go anywhere. And eventually we'll get there. It's not now and probably not in the near future, hell probably not even this year. But I believe we'll get there. And I just wanted to be ready when the time comes," there. Cards laid.
He lifted his gaze to meet Lorelai's and he found something that he never seen in there for him. Trust. She believed his story.
She sighed. "Yeah, to be honest... you're not my favorite person, Logan. And I still blame you for some things that happened to my baby. But truthfully, there will never be any man good enough for her. You might not what I would choose for her, you're too pretty, too arrogant and you didn't come from the right class. But I grew enough conscience to face the truth, she's not a kid anymore, and she has made her choice..."
Logan chuckled lightly at the irony of her statement. She just stated all his qualities that made other women prayed their daughter to find in a husband.
"Gee, thanks Lorelai. I feel really worthy, like the last piece of clothe on sale that you buy just because there were nothing else," he cringed.
"Huh. Someone needs to keep you grounded with the big head of yours. God knows you have too many ass kissing people around you.."
They both laughed. It was good. It was enough.
"Hey, I may not like you much, and I have my doubts, but I am rooting for you. You're good for her. Just, you know the stakes are higher now, means that you can't screw it up..." she said putting her hand on top of his.
He nodded. Glad he had this talk with Lorelai.
"What is this? Are you trying to scare him away, Mom?" Rory showed up at the peak of the stairs.
"No, I'm trying to steal him away, get me to take to San Fransisco and live in a trailer like hippies," Lorelai replied real quick.
"You're late a few decades for that, Mom..." Rory countered.
"What? It's always been my dream," Lorelai whined.
"To steal your daughter's boyfriend?" Rory asked jokingly.
"No, to live on the road with only my guitar as my source of income. Never know what tomorrow brings,"
"Or what to eat tomorrow," Christopher chimed in.
"Oh!" Lorelai gasped. "Now I remember why I didn't pursue my dream to become a hippie, or live off the land like Christopher McCandles... but of course, if another Christopher, the one who is really handsome and really really loves me, wants to prove his everlasting love to me, he could arrange a trailer getaway, a week in the wild with just us and nature, and of course a fully stocked kitchen... it would be very very much appreciated and well noted," she continued, placing her hand on her husband's chest.
"That can be arranged," her husband replied.
Logan laughed inside. Christopher would do anything for Lorelai, he understood that because that's exactly what he feels for Rory.
"Well, I am happy that you will soon get your dreams come true, Lorelai. But I have a plane to catch. And I had a meeting scheduled right when I arrive so, see you again, and thank you for having me... it was a nice holiday..." he said sincerely.
"No problem. We're glad to have you,"
They took him to the door and he put his belongings in the car's trunk. Christopher will drive him to the airport.
"Call me when you arrive. Don't overwork, and don't forget to eat..." Rory reminded him.
"I will, I love you... see you in a couple of days!" He kissed her sweetly.
"Love you too, workdork!"
"Workdork lover!" He replied before closing the car door while keeping his gaze to Rory until the car turned and she was out of sight.
He sighed. His level of addiction to Rory is crazy high he almost cancelled the trip. He was like a love sick teenager clinging on to Rory. It was amazing how quick he fell into love this deep with Rory, but maybe he haven't even left.
Yeah, that would explain it. In just a few months he'd become head over heels once again with her, and after so many days spent together all day in there, he's got too used to have her near and he's aching to part with her even just for a few days.
The jet haven't even close the door for their departure, yet he had already plan for his return on Friday where he would take Rory to dinner and they would come back home and spend time together before spending the whole weekend to move his things into Rory's, correction: their, apartment.
And then take her things from her Mom's and move them into their house in Hartford. And maybe if they still have time, he would take her to shop and fill their all too empty houses in, especially the library.
Yes, sounds like a good plan. He closed his eyes, planning for a nap, but his mind took him to daydream. Things to do with Rory, in their houses, on holidays, and sometimes those dreams including a group of giggly children. A man can dream indeed.
