Chapter 26

Rory POV

The next morning, I was laying in bed watching Finn sleep. Last night when I'd told him that I was pregnant he looked so happy. I mean, we weren't trying to get pregnant, it actually had been a fluke. I had been sick with the flu right after Thanksgiving so the antibiotics they gave had messed with my birth control. I was just glad that he didn't think that I had tried to trick him. But I don't think that Finn would think that I'd try to ever do that to him.

I turned over so that I was facing him. He looked so peaceful. I felt like everything was finally falling into place. I guess that he had sensed that I was awake because he pulled me closer to him with his arm that was wrapped around me. He turned his head and kissed my forehead. "Morning baby." Finn said.

I threw my arm over his stomach and snuggled into his side. "Morning." I said.

"Sleep well?" He asked me.

"I slept great but I always sleep well next to you." I said.

"Me too. How do you feel this morning?" He asked.

"Okay so far. But I haven't gotten up yet so we'll see what happens then." I told him.

He nodded. "So I was thinking that we'd go see about the marriage license today." Finn said, turning further to face me.

"That sounds good. Mom, your mom, Steph and I are gonna go see if we can find me a dress too. I told Mom that I didn't want anything fancy since we were planning on getting married on the beach." I told him. "She thinks that we can find a summer dress and still look great."

"Sounds like fun. I'm glad that your involving my mom with everything." Finn said.

I tilted my head to look at him. "I like your mom. We're one big family now…why wouldn't I involve her?" I said.

"Your right, we are love. And I couldn't be happier about all of it." He said.

After a while, Finn and I decided to get up and get ready for the day. This morning we were going to see what we had to do about our marriage license, then we were meeting Colin and Steph for lunch so that we could talk about the pre-nups. I had expressed my feelings to Colin one day about pre-nups while he was drafting my will. When Finn and I had finally gotten around to talking about it and I explained my reasoning he completely understood. Between the two of two of us we owned three companies, 7 properties, and a substantial amount of money.

It didn't take us long to apply for the marriage license. Once we were done with that, we headed to this little beach café near the resort. Finn and I were the first to arrive, so we'd gotten a table out on the patio and ordered something to drink while we waited for Steph and Colin. When they finally arrived, Steph looked upset. I could tell that now wasn't the time to ask her about it but we would be talking later. "Did you get them overnighted?" I asked them.

"Yep. Got em." Colin said, pulling the contracts out of his briefcase. Colin, Finn and I had talked in depth about every detail of our pre-nup. If it were just Finn and I we wouldn't have one. But because of who we are…it just makes sense to have one. I mean, we're talking about three companies, at least 7 properties, and a substantial amount of money.

Colin handed me and Finn each a contract and we looked over it. Everything looked exactly as it should. "Everything looks good." I said.

Finn smiled at me. "You happy with it?" He asked me, knowing that this was what I did.

"Yes. Who are we getting to witness this?" I asked.

"I figured that we could get your mom to." Colin said.

I nodded. "Yeah. That should be fine." I said. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Mom. I told her to grab Charlotte and the two of them come meet us so that we could sign the contracts and Colin could get them FedEx. "Mom and Charlotte are on their way." I told them. "Who are you getting to file them?" I asked.

"Dad said that he would do it." Colin said and I nodded.

"Speaking of your Dad…" I said getting Colin's attention. "There's something that I need to tell you two. I met with Andrew just before Christmas. He's been approaching me about a merger for the last few months." I said.

I saw the wheels turning in Colin's head. "A merger?" Colin asked.

"Yes. He knows that I'm a shark, and wants to be in business together." I said. I took a drink of my water. "So, I told him that if we were to merge that there would be stipulations. Long story short, the New York office will be the first Hayden & McCrae Law." I said.

"You agreed to a merger with my father." Colin said.

I nodded. "It's his wedding present to you and Steph. The two of you are equal partners in the location. I will run the Hartford office with my father and your Dad will be relocating his Hartford office to Boston." I told everyone.

Colin leaned back in his chair. "I don't know what to say." Colin said.

"It took a lot of negotiating to get him to agree to my terms but after much discussion he agreed. Hartford stays Hayden Law. Boston and New York will be Hayden and McCrae." I said. Finn grabbed my hand and gently squeezed it. "My Dad said that in no uncertain terms would he sign off on a name change for Hartford."

"I thought you were CEO?" Steph asked.

"I am." I said. "But I still want to respect my Dad's wishes." I told them and they nodded. "Like I said, lots of negotiating."

As soon as our food arrived, Mom and Charlotte showed up. We quickly got the contracts signed and we finished lunch. After lunch, the boys headed off to go send off the contracts while we headed out to do some shopping.

Finn POV

Colin and I were sitting in the hotel bar waiting for Logan when I decided to ask him about something that had been on my mind. "I'm not worried but something's been on my mind." I said and Colin nodded. "Steph said something to me once. It was back at Yale, right after she found out that I'd asked Rory out. She told me that I needed to be sure about Rory because if I wasn't sure, that she was pretty sure that Logan would be there to pick up the pieces." I said, looking down at my beer.

"What is it you want to know?" Colin asked me.

"Do you remember when I called and you told me that Rory was going to London and was spending time there with Logan?" I asked.

He nodded. "I do. You asked me then if I thought that you had anything to worry about and I told you no." Colin said.

"Rory told me that the reason she thinks that she had the miscarriage was because she was heartbroken because I'd left." I said.

"Finn." He said, wanting me to get to the point.

I looked over at him. "Why didn't he pick up the pieces? Why didn't he make a move on her?" I asked. I took a drink of my beer. "Like I said, I'm not worried, it's just something that I wondered about. When I got ready to board the plane to come home, I wondered what I would come home to. Would she have moved on? Would she hate me? Did she miss me? I thought about so many different scenarios of what would happen when I came home." I said.

"Logan didn't pick up the pieces because he knew how much you and Rory love each other. The only thing that he has tried to be for her is a really good friend. They were both single, so when they had to go to social functions, they decided to go together. It worked for the both of them. It kept her grandmothers from trying to set her up and it kept Shira from throw blond bimbos at him. When she would go to London, she didn't even stay with him. She has her own house there, that's where she would stay. Sometimes when she was there he would crash on her couch. Say way when he was in Hartford. He never bought property in Hartford because we all worried about her. We all knew, that all we had to do was keep her sane until you came home." Colin told me. "Logan has secretly been dating Juliet since graduation. He only told me. He knew how much Rory missed you, we all knew, he didn't want to rub his newfound happiness in her face."

I nodded. "Like I said, it was just something that I thought about. I'm not worried, especially with some things that Rory and I talked about last night. It was purely just curiosity." I said. Colin and I ordered another round of beers. "How's the wedding planning coming?" I asked him.

"Everything is done. All that's left is the bachelor and bachelorette parties next weekend." Colin said.

"Sounds good. I've got everything all set up." I told him.

"Good. It's nothing too crazy right?" He asked me.

"Nope. Rory told I wasn't allowed to plan anything too crazy. She said that we're all too old for all of that. Not to mention that most everyone is paired off." I told him.

"Sounds like Rory. Steph told me to make sure that you weren't planning on hiring any stripers." He said.

"Nope. Rory would murder me if I did that." I laughed. Colin laughed too.
