Short Chapter, but here is, you asked for it. Logan in Daddy mode.
She Ain't My Blood, But She's My Girl
Chapter 32
Logan was sitting in his home office. Rory was in Washington D.C. Kimmy was off today. She went home to visit her mother. Claira and Benjamin had business to attend to in town. That was what she told him Sunday afternoon. So that left Logan to stay at home with a sick Mia. She just had the sniffles. It wasn't anything to worry about, but it was better for her to stay home.
Rory felt guilty. The mother in her wanted to be home to take care of her baby. The reporter in her was jumping at the chance to interview President Donald Trump. While she was on the Obama campaign trail, she interviewed at the time, Senator Obama, his wife Michelle, and at the time Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton. So when Dean told them that he set up an interview with President Donald Trump, she was jumping at the bits.
Rory waited until it was announced that the New York Times scored an interview with President Donald Trump before she started doing research for the interview. She knew from past experience that she would be given a set of questions to ask and she would be allowed to give the President's handlers a set of questions she would like to ask.
Dean was doing the negotiations. One of the President's handlers asked for Rory Gilmore to submit a resume'. He advised Dean that the President asked for her. Rory met Charles, one of the President's handlers while she was on the campaign trail.
Dean had every intention of giving the piece to Rory. She was the reporter with the most experience in dealing with Officials and Politics. She had once interviewed Oprah Winfrey.
Rory left Sunday afternoon. She flew to Washington D. C. She called home, Logan told her that Mia had the sniffles and was running a low-grade fever. After a while, Logan talked her into staying in Washington D.C. and he would stay home with Mia.
He went to check on Mia. She was in his and Rory's bedroom on the big bed. He left her lying in bed watching a movie on his tablet. She was now asleep. He gently removed the tablet from her hands, turned it off, and laid it on the table by the bed. He felt of Mia's head. It was a little warm, but it was too early to give her another dose of Tylenol. He pulled her fuzzy Barbie blanket up around her and tucked it in. He made sure the baby monitor was on and went back to his office. He had a zoom meeting in a few minutes.
Logan was in the middle of his zoom meeting when he here little feet coming his way. He muted the computer and turned around to see her entering the room with dragging her blanket. He picked her up and put her in his lap.
"Do you want to help me work?" He asked. She nodded her head and buried it in her neck. He was gently moving back and forth while listening to them talk.
"Well, looks like we have a new member joining our meeting. Logan, would you like to introduce her?" Herman asked. Logan smiled at him. He didn't know if he was being sarcastic or not, but he decided to play it up.
"Gentle, I would like to introduce you to your next chairman of the board. This is Mia, she will be taking over for me in about…...what do you say Mia? 20 years?" She nodded her head and peeked out from under the blanket to look at the men on the computer screen. She gave them a little wave.
"Why aren't you the cutest thing?" Mrs. Sheldon said. "Where is her mommy?" Logan took a deep breath, he was proud of his Ace, she earned this interview, but he was afraid they would not see it that way. The board had been against Rory continuing to work for the Times when it was bought out by HPG.
"Mommy is talking to Mr. President. She asking questions in the White House." Mia said. Well, Logan didn't have to worry about telling them Mia did. She put the blanket back over her head. It wasn't long before Logan felt her relax. She was asleep.
Logan kept her in his arms as he finished the meeting. When it was finished. He woke her up to see if she was hungry. It was getting close to noon, so he knew she should be hungry. He took her downstairs to the kitchen to fix her some soup. Claira had some frozen chicken noodle soup in the freezer. He warmed the soup up and gave her some juice to drink along with some more Tylenol.
When Rory got home that evening, she found Logan and Mia playing Barbies in Mia's room. She took some pictures before she let them know she was home. They were both glad to see her. She snuggled up with Mia and Logan as she told them about her day and her interview with President Donald Trump.
