She Ain't My Blood, But She's My Girl

Chapter 43

Logan was packing their bags, Frank would be to pick them up in about an hour. Rory was in the Inn with Lorelai and Sookie. They were talking about throwing Rory a baby shower. Honor asked Lane about it yesterday. Shira overheard them talking. She explained to them that she and Honor would throw Rory a baby shower. It was the thing to do. This baby is a Huntzburger after all. Honor had rolled her eyes.

Lorelai knew that Emily would have none of that. She told Emily what Shira said. After a whispered discussion in the corner of the porch, It was decided that Emily and Shira would have a baby shower for Rory at the country club in Hartford. They would invite the Huntzburger family as well as the Gilmores and the Hayden. Then Lane and Lorelai will have her one in Stars Hollow at the Inn.

This is what they are trying to explain to Rory this beautiful Sunday afternoon. And this is why Logan was in the cottage packing. Rory was trying to explain to them that she didn't need one baby shower, much less two. Lorelai tried to tell her that because she was in Germany when Mia was born and depressed when got back to the States, that she never had an official baby shower. Sure family and friends had dropped by to see Mia and drop off gifts, but she did not have an official baby shower.

Rory finally agreed, but she was going to talk to Honor, she if she could get the ladies invited to the country club shower to donate to a children's charity. Rory caught the glimpse of the black Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 SUV that Logan insisted they buy for Frank to drive them around in, pull up to the back cottages.

"Oh, no, Frank's here, I have not packed our belongings. I've gotta go," She stood up and started toward the door when she got a cramp in her lower tummy. She stopped and held her breath. Lorelai and Lane were at her side before she had the chance to even think. They helped her back to her chair. Lane ran to get Logan.

When Logan and Frank came barrelling into the dining room, Rory was trying to tell her mom that she was okay, that she just stood up too fast. Lane ran out of the kitchen with a bottle of water for Rory.

"Ace, hey," Logan said as he knelt down on one knee in front of Rory. "You okay? Lane said you had a cramp? Let me help you to the car and I will call Dr. Carol. She can meet us at the Hospital," Logan looked around. "Maybe we need to stop in Hartford, instead of Manhattan. What do you think?" He asked, looking from Lane to Lorelai.

"Rory, have you had this happen before?" Lane asked. Rory told her no. "Is it hurting now?" she asked. Rory told her a little. Rory's phone was on the floor, she dropped it when she grabbed her stomach.

Lane picked it up, scrolled down her contacts till she found Paris. Paris, her two children, and her nanny had not been gone but about 15 minutes. Lane was going to call her and ask her to come back.

"Paris this is Lane… Yeah, I know. Rory had what she is describing as a cramp, but it stopped her in her tracks. Do you think you could come back to the Inn… Oh really. Thank you." She ended the call. Everyone was looking at her.

"Paris is still in town. She took the kids to the ice cream shoppe. She will be here in a few minutes. She said to tell you to not move. To stay where you are." Lane noticed that Logan had moved her to the sofa in the library.

Paris came in the front door at a fast pace with her black Gucci medical bag in her hand. Paris checked her out in the library. She had Dr. Carol on the phone, telling her Rory's vitals. Paris and Dr. Carol both agreed that it was probably nothing. The best thing for Logan to do is to take her home and rest. Dr. Carol said to call her if she has any more problems tonight, and she wants Rory in her office first thing. She wants to do another sonogram just to be on the safe side. Logan and Rory agree.

Before Paris left, she told Logan and Rory that Rory needed to sit with her leg stretched out straight. She also suggested they stop about Stamford to let her walk around for a few minutes. As soon as they were situated in the SUV, they were on the road. Rory was sitting against the door, with her legs in Logan's lap.

Logan had called ahead to let Claira know what was going on. She and Benjamin met them at the front door. Logan helped Rory up the steps, while Frank carried MIa up to her room. She had fallen asleep on the ride home.

Rory was upstairs in bed. She was tired. She slept some on the way home, but she was still at the stage in her pregnancy that she was tired all the time. When Logan came to bed, he brought his laptop. He wanted to do some research on twin pregnancy.

They sat in bed, looking up twin information on the computer. Rory took a pad and pencil out of the nightstand drawer and started making a list to ask Dr. Carol in the morning.

The next morning, Logan, Mia, and Rory were on their way to the City. They are going to drop Mia off at school, then head to Dr. Carol's office. If everything is okay with Rory and the babies, she was going to go to work for a few hours.

Rory and the babies were given a clean bill of health. Dr. Carol decided that it would be best to start seeing Rory every two weeks instead of once a month.

When they got to the Times to drop Rory off, Logan got out too.

"Are you walking me to my office?" Rory asked. Logan laughed at her.

"No, I am working on the executive floor today." He told her as they stepped into the elevator. Rory was shaking her head. She knew he was here today to keep an eye on her. That is the only reason he allowed her to come to work today. Will he better not say Allowed out loud. Rory thought.

Rory settled in at the conference table in her old office. Harper tried to get her to take her desk, but she told her she was fine where she was. She had promised Logan that she would set her phone to alarm every hour so that she could get up and walk around. This is something that Dr. Carol and Paris told her to do it if she was not sitting with her legs propped up.

Logan came to get her around 1:00. He was taking her to lunch, then they were picking up Mia and heading home. He still had a lot to do, but he could do it from their home office.
