TW: A little bit of PTSD

After Chloe had left the room, Danny had about an hour before he would have to leave again to go meet up with the others and the Guardian. Danny shivered a bit, slightly worried, he had no idea who this guardian was, or how powerful he is. Did he know Clockwork? It would make things much easier if he did. But Danny would be meeting him blind, not knowing what to expect. But then again Danny had been doing everything blind since he got to Paris.

Danny sighed and fell back onto the bed he was sitting on with a small bounce of the springs. This bed was certainly nicer than sleeping on a bench in the park, or in the back of an alley behind a dumpster. Heck, it was probably even nicer than the one in his old room… His old room… a room he could never go back to.

His mind started filling with memories, memories of him waking up in the morning after he had more than 3 hours of sleep that night. He would feel quite well rested and would go downstairs and be greeted by his sister, nose deep in a book at the table. Something or other about teen psychology. His sister always loved phycology, before he left she liked to study how he acted with the other ghosts and people to write her thesis on ghost phycology.

His nose would smell something burning in the kitchen, there was always burning in the kitchen. His mom-…Maddie was not the best cook, and she would be cooking something with some ectoplasm infused in it, mainly for her new experiment. Maybe she was testing out the ways it affected him and Jazz when they ate it, he would never know… Ectoplasm that could have been gotten from capturing a ghost, like some of his friends in the zone, or him.

Danny shuddered, closing his eyes. He didn't want to think about that. Anything reminding him about back home would make him more depressed. Jazz was always there for him, she helped coach him through panic attacks or nightmares in the middle of the night, when Jack and Maddie wouldn't even notice Danny had been screaming in his sleep. Her warm smile and how she had always made sure he was okay. She would ask him questions about his day and try to distract him from what he had been panicking about.

He knew what she was doing and he didn't mind. She was always the one that could help him. She would help bring him up and check on him after they were in a conversation with their parents where they talked about 'how evil ghosts were and that they all should be destroyed, especially that Phantom'. Danny had a distressed look on his face while his eyes were still closed.

She was there for him when he told them his secret, she got him out of there, if she wasn't there to try and stop Jack and Maddie from shooting he would be on a dissection table right now. He wouldn't be alive or safe without her. He could now only hope she was okay. If anything happened to her while he was gone he would never forgive himself. If he could ever go back. His core thrummed with worry, wanting to protect her make sure she was okay, and he can't do anything here, he can't help any of his humans. What could he possibly-

"Are- are you okay Danny?" Danny jumped at the quiet voice, panting slightly with the rising panic of his run-away thoughts, he looked over to his side. It was Finn. Danny sighed and leaned back again.

"I'm fine Finn, sorry for worrying you." He waved lightly at the small shark floating next to him, breathing a sigh of relief, calming himself down.

Finn looked concerned and flew a little closer. "Are you sure? You seemed really… Distressed."

Danny nodded. "Yep, just fine. Just thinking about my life before."

The Kwami still looked worried about his human, but didn't act on it. He could tell there was something that happened to Danny before they met, something that he wouldn't want to talk about yet. "Well, I'm here if you want to talk about anything." Finn held his flippers out to the side.

Danny smiled at him. He then looked the kwami up and down again sitting up from the bed. "Why are you all wet?"

Finn smiled, his sharp teeth showing. "You know, they have a great sink here."

Danny chuckled at the shark and looked over to the counter, there embedded in the counter, was a sink that was full of water. Finn must have turned it on when he was thinking to himself. The kwami flew back over to the sink in a blue blur and dived into it, he swam for a second before poking his head out to look at Danny with a grin that Danny couldn't help but smile at.

Danny hoisted himself off the bed and walked over to the sink, booping the shark on the nose. Finn laughed before diving back under the water. Danny realized that Finn swam very much like a shark, which was to be expected. His back legs were tucked against his body almost completely flat, and his tail swished back and forth with such ferocity that his entire body was bending as he sped around. The sink was just about the right size for him to make decent-sized laps. Danny would have to run a bath for the shark sometime. Just the thought of the shark smiling made Danny grin.

The teen sighed contently, his earlier troubles forgotten, or at least pushed to the back of his mind for now. He glanced over at the clock on the wall, they had 20 minutes. They should really get going. Finn looked up at him and then at the clock before nodding. Danny grabbed loosely onto the shark tooth necklace around his neck before saying quietly. "Finn, Deep dive." The kwami turned into a ball of light that spun around in the air before flying into the necklace, transforming Danny again in a flash of light blue light. Danny looked back down at his webbed hand before turning to leave. But then something caught his eye.

He looked at the water in the sink and it looked like it was glowing, rippling towards him like it was being pulled by some sort of invisible force. Danny looked at it puzzled, turning his whole body to face it, as he stepped closer the water pulled further towards him. He quickly looked down at his body to see if he could find anything on him that could be doing this, he spotted it. It was the strange object that was on his hip before, the thing that looked like a handle. It was made of the same stuff his knife was made out of and had similar carvings.

Danny pulled it off of his hip, slowly holding it over the sink full of water. The liquid flowed up towards it, straight up. It looked like a bubble of water was rising up but wasn't breaking the surface tension. His core flickered with curiosity. He readjusted his grip on the handle and held it a mere inch above the water bubble.

Danny's ears perked up as moved it around in circles watching with curiosity as the water followed it. He wondered… He put the handle directly into the water and the carvings glowed with blue light. He also felt a strange tingling feeling around his hand that was in the water, but he didn't pay much attention to it.

He pulled the handle out of the water and the water was now attached to it, forming some sort of whip at the end of it. Once it was fully out of the sink some of the water followed it, leaving over half of it behind. The water attached to the handle glowed a bit, slowly losing its light the further it was from the handle. Danny spun it around realizing that he could control where the water went. Danny tilted his head to the side watching it very closely.

Suddenly he heard a car honking outside of the balcony that he had left open. It startled him and he turned to face the sound before looking back at the water whip, the moment he had lost his concentration the water fell to the floor and into the rug. "Crud." Danny bent down to inspect the rug before looking up at the clock on the wall. "Double crud." He had 10 minutes now.

He didn't have much time, but he wanted to try one more thing. He held the handle over the rug and concentrated on the water. The carvings glowed blue again as the water was pulled out of the rug and back onto the handle. Danny sighed in relief. "Well, that's certainly helpful." He quickly put the water back in the sink before clipping the handle back on his waist.

He had to hurry now, he didn't want to be too late. He looked out of the balcony checking for anyone that could see him before he jumped out and started heading in the right direction.

Chat Noir vaulted from building to building, making his way to the meeting point. He was sure Riptide would show up, but he was a little nervous about how he would react if anything happened or someone asked the wrong question. He was more worried about Riptide running more than anything, but Ladybug would definitely have more problems trusting him after that.

He then spotted two people on the roof in the distance and smerked. He landed down on the roof and walked forward towards the two figures. One was Ladybug and, was that?… 'the guardian?' Chat didn't recognize him at all, but he knew he had the Miraculous of the turtle with him so it seemed to be the only option for the shorter man that was standing next to Ladybug who was wearing a full green suit and mask. There was a turtle shell on his head that made it look like a traditional hat. The black cat took a wild guess. "Master?"

"Chat Noir, good to see you again, glad to hear you have been doing well." Master Fu nodded his head towards the male teen.

Chat smiled, his theory was correct. "Well that's one way to keep your identity hidden, I couldn't even recognize you."

"It's the miraculous magic, we figured that it would be the safest and easiest option." Ladybug replied.

Fu chuckled stretching out his back. "I don't know how you guys do this, my old bones wouldn't be able to take much of this."

They all chuckled. Chat then looked around them. "I take it no sharky yet then, huh?"

"We haven't seen any signs of him yet, but we haven't been waiting that long, he could still arrive," Fu said holding his arms behind his back.

Chat looked up to Ladybug who was biting her knuckle again, glancing all around them. "He'll be here soon, I'm sure. Don't worry."

Ladybug sighed and was about to say something more but they were distracted when they saw Riptide land on the roof next to theirs and jumped over, walking over to them slowly. "You miss me?" Chat smiled.
