Chapter 90 London to Hartford

In London, Logan was mad. He had been on the phone as soon as respectable. He was in Lonon and the calls he needed to make were on the east coast. After talking to Mitchum, Honor, Dillon, and Alfred, the accountant for the European branch of HPG, Logan still did not know how to handle this problem. He hadn't gotten much sleep last night. He was not used to sleeping in the bed without Rory and he couldn't get his mind to shut down. It was almost 5 am before he could get to sleep. He didn't think he had been asleep very long when his alarm went off. Now having spent 3 hours on the phone, he was no closer to figuring out what he was going to do. It was 11:15 Saturday morning in London. He was on the balcony pacing. He had the proof he needed. He knows what happened to the missing money. He found the money trail as they say. He just didn't know how to go about handling this without running the Huntzburger name in the ground. Maybe I should just go home. He had instructed Alfred to close the account in question. His lawyers in London are drafting a non-disclosure letter. He looked at his watch. It was 12:45 in London which means it was 7:45 in the afternoon in Connecticut. Logan got dressed. He decided to go over the spreadsheets one more time. He knows what he will find. The same thing he found yesterday.

Logan looked at his watch. It was 3 pm. He stood up and stretched. He, Bobbi, her husband Timothy, Hank, and his husband Charles went to an opening of a new restaurant. He had hoped they could talk business, but the crowd was too noisy. He had texted Rory to remind her. With all the photographers around, he was sure a picture or two would end up in the paper. He didn't want Rory to be caught off guard. As he exited the building, he did as he normally did when he left work. He went over a list in his head of what he needed to do next. He handled everything that needed his attention in London. The rest of what needed to be done, he could do from the good ole USA. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and called for a car. He then started to call Rory but decided to surprise her. He called Jeffery his pilot. Jeffery told him they could be in the air in an hour and a half.

When Logan arrived at the apartment, he told his driver he would be back down in 20 minutes. Logan hurried upstairs to pack. He changed into something more comfortable, grabbed his charges and a few personal items, and headed downstairs to his awaiting car. He kept suits, casual clothes, and toiletries in each of the homes he owned and visited. When he arrived at the airport, he was met by Jeffery who had just finished his final check on the plane. They were in the air by 4:15. He should be landing around 6:30 Hartford time. This will be a nice surprise for Rory.

Rory was returning from the bathroom when she saw Shira. She was having lunch with a male. Rory turned her head as quickly as she could. She hoped to goodness Shira didn't see her. When she went to sit down, she was hit with pain. It took all Rory's strength not to yell. She started breathing exercises. "Rory, are you okay," Karson asked. Christopher turned to look at Rory. "Kiddo, you look pale," Christopher said as he got up. When he got to Rory she whispered. "Shira is over there. I do not want to bring any attention to myself, I do not want to scare the boys. She said, At this time Ricky had moved over next to Rory. "I think I need to call my doctor to meet me at the hospital." Christopher's eye got big. Rory was still trying to breathe normally. She felt like she had to throw up.

Christopher turned to Lana and handed her his credit card. "Pay for lunch, Ricky and I are going to take Rory to the Hospital. Do not alarm the boys." Christopher whispered. Ricky was telling Karson that he was going to go with Rory to the hospital and she should take the boys home. "Hey Guys, Listen. Grandpa and Ricky are going to take me to see my doctor. I want to make sure Em is okay. You go home with Karson and Gigi. I will be home soon." Karson gathered the boys up and headed to the car. Ricky, Christopher, Lana, and Rory were shown out the side door by one of the waiters.

When Rory got in the car. Ricky crawled in after her. He helped her buckling the seat belt. "Do you think you are in labor?" Lana asked. Rory shook her head no. "This is different." Rory took a couple of deep breaths. "I know what labor feels like, this is not labor." "But each pregnancy is different," Lana said. "So I have been told." Rory just smiled. She had other things to do than argue with Lana. "Ricky, my phone is in my purse." Ricky opened her purse and found the phone. Rory took the phone, found her doctor's information, and pressed the button. "Dr. Boyett, This is Rory Huntzburger. I am on my way to St. Francis Hospital. I'm not sure what is going on, but I am in a lot of pain." Rory listened for a minute. "25 weeks, No, it does not feel like labor." "But it could be," Lana said from the front seat. "Thank you, doctor," Rory said, hanging up the phone. She took a couple of deep breaths again. This seemed to calm her down. She dialed Logan's number. It went straight to voicemail. She tried again. Same thing. She dialed Paris's number. "Hello Rory," Paris said. "Paris" Rory was breathing hard again. Ricky took the phone, "Paris, this is Ricky. We are on our way to St. Francis Hospital. Rory's doctor is meeting us there. Rory is in a lot of pain, but she says it is not labor." "I hope not. 25 weeks is way too early." "I know, but it is not labor, I know what labor feels like." Rory spoke up. "I'll meet you there," Rory told Ricky to text Logan. He may be in a meeting.

When they arrived at the emergency department, they were met with a wheelchair and several nurses. "Ms. Huntzburger?" Ricky said, "yes, she is meeting her doctor. She is pregnant." The older nurse smiled at him. "Yes, I see, Ms. Huntzburger, I'm Nancy, I work in Labor and Delivery. How far along are you?" "A little over 25 weeks." "Is this your first pregnancy?" one of the younger nurses asked as they were taking her in the elevator up to Labor and Delivery. Rory didn't catch her name if she told them. "No, I have a set of identical twin boys at home. They will be 5 in July. This is not labor. It feels nothing like the labor I had with the twins" Nancy smiled. "I bet they are looking forward to being big brothers." Rory knew the nurse was trying to put her mind at ease. "Ricky here is their big brother, so he can teach them how to be a good big brother like he is." Rory again took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Nancy was starting to say something when the doors opened. They pushed Rory out of the elevator and into a room. Rory just realized that neither her dad nor Lana was with her. It was just Ricky. "Ricky" she took his hand. "Where is my Dad?" "He went to park the car." Rory nodded, taking deep breaths.

Nancy asked Ricky to step out while she helped Rory into a hospital gown so the doctor could examine her. Ricky stepped out. He was scared. No one was here for Rory. He decided right then he would stay here until Logan got home. He tried Logan again on his phone. Still went to voicemail.

Dr. Boyett walked up to Ricky. "Hi, I'm looking for Rory Huntzburger." Ricky pointed to the room, "they are helping her get into a gown. Are you Rory's doctor?" "I am, I'm Dr. Boyett." she held out her hand. Ricky took her hand "I'm Ricky Greene, I'm Rory's stepson." "Nice to meet you, Ricky. Is Logan in there with Rory?" "No, he is in London. We have been trying to reach him." About that time Paris rounded the corner. "Ricky, Rory in there" Pointing to her room Ricky was leaning against the wall. "Yes" before Ricky could say anything else, she pushed the door open and walked in. "They're getting her dress," Ricky said in a whisper shaking his head. "I'm going to go in and examine Rory. Someone will let you know when you can come in." Dr. Boyett said and she entered the room.

Ricky again took his phone out of his pocket and called Logan. Again it went to voicemail. "Logan, this is Ricky, call me. Rory is in the hospital. St. Francis. She says she is not in labor. Please call." Ricky was leaving a voice mail when Christopher and Lana walked up. "The doctor is in there with her now. They will let us know when we can go in." Ricky told them as his phone dinged. He looked down. It was a message from Karson checking on Rory. Ricky texted her back.

Nancy opened the door to let them in. Dr. Boyett was standing by Rory talking to her. She had an IV drip. Dr. Boyett looked up as Ricky, Lana and Christopher entered the room. "Is this everyone?" she asked. "I'm still trying to get Logan. I left him a voicemail." "I hope you didn't tell him that Rory was in the hospital. You will have him scared to death." Lana said. Before Ricky could answer Rory said. "Ricky, it doesn't matter, as long as you make him understand he needs to call.

Logan took a nap on the plane. He had not slept well the night before. He knew he would be jet-lagged. He had a lot to do when his plane landed. He looked at his watch. He lands in about an hour. It will take about 30 minutes for customs to clear him. With minimum traffic, he could be home by 7 pm. He would probably miss supper. Well, that is what microwaves are for.

Rory lay in bed at the St Francis Hospital, on the Labor and Delivery Floor. She realized this immediately when she woke up. Her mother was sitting in a chair watching a movie. "Mom?" "Hey kiddo, good to see you wake. I was beginning to wonder." Rory could hear movement on the other side of her. She turned her head expecting to see Logan. She saw Ricky instead. "Hey, Have you been here the whole time? She asked. "Yes, I didn't want you to be alone." "Thank you." "Has anyone heard from Logan?" Rory asked. "No," Ricky shook his head. "Maybe he got your message and got on a plane," Lorelai said. Rory asked for her phone to see what time it is. "6:30, I'm sure he is out of his meetings, it's 11:30 in London," Rory said. She wanted Logan here before she went into surgery in the morning. If she got in touch with him right now, he would have time to catch a flight and be here before I go in.

Logan had just landed. He was waiting for the costume officer to board the plane. He reached in his pocket for his phone. He was going to call Frank to come to pick him up. Before he could dial, he saw he had several missed calls, a couple of voicemails, and several texts. While he was looking at his phone it rang. It was Rory. "Hello," Logan answered. "LOgan, I am so glad I got you. We have been trying to call you all day." Ace" before he could say anything else, "Don't panic. I need you to call Jeffery and I need you to come home." "Ace, why would I panic? I know you miss me." Logan said with a smile. "I'm in the hospital." Logan's smile turned upside down. "Ace, What's wrong? Are you okay? They baby, is she okay?" Logan had jumped up. He was walking to the cockpit. "Jeffery, tell customers we have an emergency. Tell them to come to check me and they can check my luggage after I leave. Rory is in the hospital. I need to go now." "Wait, customs? Logan, where are you.?" Rory asked. "I just landed in Hartford. I was going to surprise you." "So that's why you were not answering your phone." I guess so. Here come the officials. I will be there as soon as I can." "Do you want me to send Ricky to pick you up?" "No. I'll take a car."
